My wife and I came here for an impromptu date night and were very impressed. They seated us promptly. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and drinks and told us about how any bottle was wine over $100 was 50% off on Sunday nights. For the starter, we ordered the bread plate and a Caesar salad to start. The bread plate comes with three types of bread and a garlic herb/Chianti butter. It was FANTASTIC. Our Caesar salad was light and refreshing. For our main course, we had the chicken cordon bleu, but subbed the garlic mashed potatoes for fingerling potatoes and brussels. Everything was incredible. This was my first stop from leaving DFW. It made for a nice meeting spot to group up with my grapevine friends prior to heading to Dallas for the weekend. I really liked the locale. A nice big bar with small tables and rails to sit or stand at. They had a cozy fire going that just looked cool in my opinion. The service was very nice. The bartender came over to the table and had solid recommendations on wine choices. The bourbon my friend ordered was a very solid pour and quite stout (a plus). We came to this restaurant previously with a large group of family members. We enjoyed that visit and although it has been a few years, we finally returned. We wanted to love this restaurant. I fault our server nothing. She communicated well to us and tried hard to make everything go as smooth as possible. The positives: The food we had was good, presented well. The server was kind, attentive and apologetic to the shortcomings of the restaurant. The drinks we ordered were delicious. It was our anniversary and we were given a nice glass of champagne. This is a nice touch. The negatives: This restaurant is rather loud at dinner time. If you are expecting to have a one on one conversation, get ready to lean in and raise your voice to be heard. The hyped special after ordered & we had eaten bread and salads was out. Causing my husband to have to reorder his dinner. Our bread was given away to another table, but was finally delivered and ultimately comped. The beer is not draft, but is presented well from a bottle. The menu does not note that the beer is bottle or draft. Service or rather food delivery is slower than expected. A lot of lag between the bread, salad, entree and dessert. We had time to spare, but I wouldn't eat dinner here if you have an appointment to keep. Men's bathroom was a mess with water and paper everywhere. And, my husband' standards are pretty low: I was able to use, wash my hands with soap and warm water though. All in all, not totally terrible, but not fabulous either. Every restaurant has an off night, but when there are multiple issues, it is important that management know this! Some improvement is needed for sure. Had Brunch here just recently with 2 other couples, 6 all together. We were seated at a rectangle booth, 2 on each end, 2 against the back. It was a very long table... Most of the reviews suggested crab and lobster eggs benedict which most of us had. Our server, Nathan, did a good job. I think he missed a good upsell opportunity by not informing us Blood Mary's, Mimosas and something else are $3.00 at Brunch. We discovered it and all added several drinks each! DH had a glass of wine, he asked for a Cabernet... At bill time, we discovered his glass of wine for $$$18.00 - more expensive than our entrees! Nathan should have alerted that a glass of wine was going to be that expensive. Like I said it was more than Brunch. The restaurant is lovely, woods, fireplace, warm and inviting in the main dining room. They also have a large covered patio area. They had a jazz trio and we were seated just behind where the band played. Our entrees, mostly were just not up to par. The crab and lobster was scarce and fishy tasting. The eggs were spot on - poached - the english muffins they were served on were hard and tough to cut (maybe they were cold or toasted earlier). The Bearnaise sauce was tasteless, it was served with some potatoes that were small squares, hard and cold. I couldn't eat them. The restaurant became busy, crowded and quite noisy. The service was really good. When we were leaving the place was "mobbed", people all over the restaurant entrance and bar areas and outside. So it's very popular if you go be sure to reserve. Now that I have exited the haze of my food coma I feel that I am able to appropriately review Winewood. The food coma was deep, the drooling might still occur and we will return on another day. But what you really care about are food, drinks and service, right? Food: This is a sister restaurant to the famed Bob's Steak & Chop House and I believe that little sister will make big sister proud. The decor is clean and contemporary and the menu models that ideal. We started with an order of Oysters Rockefeller; well, when I say 'we' I mean 'my husband.' I am not a seafood fan. He, on the other hand, ate all six in no time flat. He said that they were some of the best he had had in Texas. Their dinner menu spans all food types: Sandwiches (the prime rib french dip looked yummy), salads and meats. Hubby had the melt-in-your mouth ribeye. The ribeye was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and wonderfully marbled, but the smoked butter that was topping the steak stole the show. Hands down. The flavor that the smoked butter add simply cannot be replicated anywhere else that we have been. I had the 8oz Fillet in a demi-glace sauce with Yukon potatoes and globe carrots. The Fillet was tender and also had a wonderful flavor, the peppercorns in the demi-glace really made the steak 'pop.' The potatoes were soft and fluffy yet full of flavor and paired well with the steak and sauce. The carrots were OK, not the carrots I was expecting (I do love Bob's!) but they were a nice addition. We also ordered a side of the smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese. I was literally scraping the bottom of the dish trying to extract those last morsels of yummy, cheesy, bacon-y goodness. Drinks: Their Wine by the glass menu was a bit smaller than we expected, but their wine list is expansive if you choose to order by the bottle. They also offer 2 Ports: Fladgate 10 and Ware's. Hubby settled in for a nice Cab but i was craving something more. Service: Ok, so the 'service' and drinks' section kind of melds together at this point. I mentioned that I really wanted a pear martini and asked if this was possible. Our waiter wasn't sure but came back with the bar manager. I explained that Bob's makes the best Pear martini in town and that I really, really wanted one. He asked if I was in a rush and then offered to walk to Bob's and get their recipe. The Martini was blissful, amazing, so full of flavor. The second one was good, too. This is just one example, however, of the great service we experienced. The staff truly worked all as one and took ownership of the entire restaurant. My glass was barely empty before someone showed up to remove it from the table and ask if I cared for another; the last Oyster was still on my husband's lips when a server appeared to remove the empty dishes from our table and ask how the appetizer was. Our waters never went below half-full... the list goes on. I was impressed with the attention to detail. Hubby wants to go back and try the Cordon Bleu and I'll probably get the filet with the smokey butter they put on the ribeye. We will definitely be going back. read more

Nestled right between Bob's Steak House and Mia Dia From Scratch is the lovely Winewood restaurant. Going in I first noticed the giant Christmas tree they had out front for the holidays which is always a plus. Another plus, after entering I didn't notice any strange smells or or odd odors or anything like that which again is always a big bonus for me when going to a nice place like this. After no wait at all we were then greeted by the kind hostess who promptly sat us at our desired table, and thankfully she did not hang around awkwardly like some hosts tend to do at some places. The ambiance and darkly lit interior with the cozy fireplace is one of my favorite things about this restaurant, not to mention the festive lights and Christmas tunes they have playing for the holiday season. This was actually good Christmas music though that set the right mood, not the cheesy holiday stuff you hear at the local diner. We started with the bread plate sampler for an appetizer. All 3 options tasted great although we both agreed the olive flavored bread was the best of the bunch. The butter served with the bread was uniquely flavorful as well. For drinks I went with the Bourbon Smash and a New Old Fashioned. Both drinks were strong and delicious. Maybe they're a bit pricey, but that's not really surprising. I had the lump crab cakes for my main dish. They could have been a bit spicier considering the amount of red pepper sauce used, but in all it was still very tasty and something I'd order again and again. Ariel opted for the Southwestern salad which she said, if I recall correctly, tasted "pretty good". We both shared the creme brulee for dessert. It tasted amazing with a nice and rich vanilla flavor. As soon as it was open we were there....and yummmm is all we can say. If you want to eat somewhere nice, but don't want to drive to Dallas or plop down a ton of cash at Bobs, Winewood is a great option. Yes they have wine, but they also have steaks, fish, huge salads, mouthwatering sides, super fresh desserts and OH MY glorious cocktails. A lot on the menu is made with farm-fresh fruits & veggies. They even distill their own water in-house. Ohh lala. I had the grilled salmon....it was perfectly cooked and laid on top of a fabulous orzo pasta/grilled veggie mixture that tasted like the best bacon I'd ever had. The boyfriend let me try some of his grilled asparagus...it tasted like a flame. Seriously. Like fire. It was SO good. Winewood is perfect for a romantic dinner, a fun meal with friends, or even a quick cheese plate and glass of wine before you head somewhere else for the night. The atmosphere is amazing....and wow this place is HUGE! It would be great for private parties. Do yourself a favor and try Winewood ASAP. Ever since I checked out the menu and saw they have gouda mac & cheese, I had been dying to go try out Winewood. I finally got the husband on board and I ended up loving it for so much more than the delicious, cheesy pasta dish of my dreams. It's beautiful inside, with lots of wood and fireplaces, but somehow is also modern. The staff was ridiculously friendly - everyone from the hostess to the busboy was kind and personable. They had a great selection of wines with something for every budget. And they had some really interesting cocktails - nothing crazy, but nice twists on old classics. My husband had the whiskey smash which was tasty without being too frou-frou. My husband also had a love affair with the rotisserie chicken dish he got. Being a vegetarian, I didn't sample it, but he was clearly in love with it. So we can't wait to go back - hooray! read more

Went here based on a recommendation. Atmosphere was nice. Service was meh...nothing spectacular. Food...they forgot to bring out the 2 kids meals that were ordered. They "were still on the grill." Brought them 15 minutes after all adult food. The kids steak was so overcooked, it was hard to cut and tasted terrible. She didn't eat any of it. We told the waiter, and all he did was take it. Didn't offer to fix it or anything. And yes, we still paid for it. Our food was good, but not worth what was paid. Definitely won't be going back. BRUNCH IS SUNDAY ONLY. I can't stress this enough. Don't be like me, excited for brunch on Saturday, only to realize there is no brunch on Saturday. Pretty empty during my visit, (duh, b/c there was no brunch!) but the interior was nice. I went with a glass of prossecco to indulge my lack of brunch and ordered mac and cheese and the steak salad. (So what, I like to eat) I liked both items very much! I'm new to loving mac and cheese and this version was delightfully creamy with a great flavor. It was really addictive and I didn't have trouble finishing my portion. (read: ALL OF IT) The steak salad was more like, some steak on half a plate, some salad on the other half. Not really what I expected, but both were fine. My friend ordered a french dip. The menu reads that this comes with fries or side salad. He asked for fries and then a cup of tomato basil bisque. There was apparently a mix up b/c it was delivered with soup, no fries. The food runner was apologetic, and asked if he wanted fries, to which my friend said no, it was fine. Probably about 5 minutes later, we were delivered a plate of fries. We thought this was just a gesture, but then later saw we were charged for said fries. Wine wood is the less-expensive version of the Bob's steakhouse next door. I believe it is the same owners. This place has the vibe of a Houston's restaurant, which for me still is a benchmark for fine, casual dining. The menu is diverse - all of requisite staples... steaks, seafood and vegetarian options. There are usually good seafood specials and the chef likes to change up things from time to time. It's not quite a daily or monthly menu-change, but rather seasonal. The portion sizes are decent - not too big and not too small. Service has always been good. My guess is that they use Winewood as a training ground for Bob's. We like John, one of the more tenured servers. He is affable and gregarious. The bar scene can be hit or miss. I've had some great cocktails there - they make an Old Fashioned that is out of this world (and I usually don't enjoy dark liquor drinks). A few of the times I've been, they have "live" entertainment that would make people jump off the cruise ship if he were playing there. There are a couple of private rooms - perfect for business meetings or special occaisions. Overall, I've always liked Winewood. Found out about this new restaurant on Yelp and thought tonight would be a good chance to try it out (they said they've been open about 6 weeks). Good decision. The atmosphere is a nice blend of casual and comfortable. The place doesn't feel at all pretentious, but is quite nice. The multiple rows of tables in the middle section felt to me a little chainish, but we were seated on an outer row and the space was nice. The one area I would like to see an improvement is the wine list. For a restaurant with "wine" in the name, I would expect a little more variety. There was a decent mix of lower price, mid price and upper priced bottles in all categories, but the selection was a little thin for someone looking to discover something different. The service was outstanding. Brian took great care of us and and steered us in the right direction many times. As for the food, we had the Tenderloin Bruschetta and really liked it. The bread was a tad on the tough side, but the tenderloin was thin and moist and the overall flavor was really good. For entrees, my wife had the scallops (they were a special tonight, but the waiter said they are being added to the menu soon) and thought the portion was perfect for her. 3 scallops perfectly cooked with couscous. I had the lemon scented Ahi Tuna and really enjoyed it. The tuna was perfectly seared and the balsamic was a nice complement. Loved the marble potatoes, but could have done with a few less veggies (mainly squash). There was nothing wrong the veggies, the portion just seemed a little heavy for the lightness of tuna and small potatoes. We ended with the peach cobbler, in which the peaches were very fresh and firm and loved the cinnamon sugar sprinkled on the crust. Winewood wouldn't qualify for an ultra-romantic night or special business dinner, but for a really pleasant night out to talk and laugh in a more casual atmosphere, but great food, this is a top pick. read more

Clean and modern interior, semi-open kitchen, dark wood, the usual suspects on the menu (steak, chicken, fish). Decent wine menu (overpriced like all restaurants but...). 1) Service was good. Our waitress was nice but oddly enough she never actually delivered food. That was always brought to us by other people. We thought that was weird. But she was nice and helpful and also super-cute. 2) Food was good - expensive but good. The ceasar salad was so-so, but my steak was excellent. They have a decent amount of deserts too - I think they had 6 or 7 on the menu, which is a lot for these kinds of places. The "brookie" is a muffin-shaped brownie with chocolate chip cookie in the center of the muffin shape. Ice cream on top. It was nice. 3) I keep thinking about that wine. It was $43 for this bottle I know runs like $12 in the store... It's standard practice but it's irking me thinking about it! But - it's a nice place. A little on the loud side. With my party of three to celebrate my wife's birthday, we made our first visit last night to Winewood and we were sorely disappointed. Sitting at the bar, I will tell you the service was nothing less than outstanding. The two bartenders were perfect with their friendliness and knowledge. Wine, champagne and cocktail recommendations were spot on. The entire comfortable vibe of the restaurant was exceptionally inviting and warm, we really enjoyed it. The food, blew. We were so looking forward to a great meal at Winewood and ended up so disappointed. My wife had the halibut, perfectly cooked, clean moist but saturated with their seasoning, she had to scrape it off. The brown rice, "poblano lime rice" was salty, wet and tasted like "Old Bay" seasoning. I had the pork chop. Generous double chop, fairly tender (not tough, but not particularly tender, but not bad) that was perfectly cooked. However, the amount of seasoning was almost overwhelming. So two separate items, cooked perfectly, but completely overwhelming with the seasoning. Quite dissatisfied and very disappointed. Now normally I'm not shy about sending something back for an adjustment or redo, but with my wife's birthday celebration, we were having a great conversation and wine, I just decided to suck it up so she would not eat alone. It wasn't until we got into the car that she shared her feelings on the meal. We are locals (having just moved to Texas four months ago - LOVE it!) and dine out weekly. I agree with Becky K.'s review from 11/6 that Winewood is classy but not uptight. My review is more geared toward group dining at Winewood, since I ate there with about 50 colleagues on a weeknight. For those looking for a good private dining experience that still affords you access to the rest of the restaurant's atmosphere and decent live music, Winewiood seemed to be a good choice. Our servers were all very attentive and were patient with our rather rowdy crowd. Drink selection had a creative list of cocktails, plenty of beers on tap, and a good wine list. No complaints from the drink-happy group. While the ambiance, decor, and service were all spot-on (and kudos for good live music on a Wednesday), the food wasn't super-memorable, which actually means they probably are a "safe" choice for when you're dining with a large group in which there way be finicky or sensitive eaters, but that's not what I'm looking for. The calamari appetizer was nice in that the seafood was served in fried strips as opposed to rings, but it was a little over-dusted with fried stuff, which took away from the texture and flavor of the calamari itself. The herb-grilled chicken breast was nice - boneless, skinless, not greasy - but was pretty lackluster in terms of flavor. A nice white wine reduction sauce, lemon marinade sauce, or Texas-like BBQ infusion would have been welcome. Several members of our party ordered the filet, all of which were cooked to order, but it really looked as though the sizes of the filet varied wildly from plate-to-plate, but there were no complaints about the tastiness or the cooked-to-order requests. That takes a good kitchen with a group this large. Mashed potatoes were good and not too salty/buttery, but the vegetable side was disappointing; was just julienned pieces of onion and squash. I almost want to give another star for the tasty, chocolately brownie that was topped with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with a bit of chocolate and caramel. Pretty nice place. I went here to meet a friend with a layover at DFW and we enjoyed the bottomless mimosas at brunch (note: you have to get an entree to enjoy the $10 bottomless mimosas. I forget how much they are individually). Speaking of mimosas, they have three types: orange, grapefruit, and cranberry. They were all pretty heavy on the champagne and light on the juice. We liked the orange/cranberry mix the best. The menu sounded pretty enticing. i ended up getting the steak omelette, which was a bit smaller than I expected but tasty enough. A colleague of mine and I joined a group of others for dinner on the evening of Friday, August 26th. We were very fortunate to have Chase as our waiter. We started our evening with glasses of wine, some had beer; and Spinach Dip. The Spinach Dip contained mozzarella, parmesan and pecorino cheese mixed with baby spinach and artichoke hearts, served with homemade tortilla chips and salsa roja. The tortilla chips had just the right amount of salt. I generally salt tortilla chips when they are placed on my table; however, in this situation there was no need to do so. The Spinach Dip and chips were very tasty and delicious! It was creamy, the temperature was just right, and had generous amounts of artichoke chunks. It was very good! After a period of munching on the appetizers and sipping wine (and beer), Chase came by to take our entree orders. My colleague and I were thinking the same thing; the Chilean Sea Bass. When my colleague informed Chase of what she wanted, Chase made the recommendation of including two bacon wrapped scallops to go along with the plate, which I'm glad that he did. I ordered the same thing. Although my colleagues piece of fish was quite a bit larger than mine, it was DELICIOUS!!! This was one of the BEST fish meals that I've ever had! The sea bass came jalapeno-onion crusted, served over saffron risotto & citrus cream sauce. The fish was cooked to perfection! Each bite, it was as if I was cutting into butter, the piece of fish that I was cutting just broke apart so effortlessly. The seasoning and coating was just the right amount. I savored each bite as I devoured my meal! Once I cleaned my plate, then came dessert. At first I was not going to participate; however, as I heard Chase describe each item, I quickly changed my mind. Much of the group ordered items to share, but I was selfish and ordered the Key Lime Pie for myself, and am glad that I did! The pie had the right amount of sour from the lime, and sweetness. I've had Key Lime Pie's in the past that were very tart, but Winewood's Key Lime Pie had the right amount in my opinion. The meal(s) and service (Chase) were impeccable!! read more

I came for brunch with some girlfriends. One of them was absolutely raving about their lobster Benedict so we all came to give it a try. Their wine list is extensive. They sell by the glass. The waiter was very knowledgeable and gave great suggestions. We had the Mac and cheese appetizer. It was okay. The cheese was a little too runny for my taste. The bits of bacon were good, but not enough to make this appetizer amazing. The lobster Benedict was great! Good fresh lumps of crab and lobster. Egg was cooked perfectly. Hollandaise sauce was yummy. We also had the key lime pie drizzled with mango and strawberry coulis, as suggested by our waiter. It was delicious but I'm glad we shared it. Excellent. This place is everything you want: classy but not too uptight, great service, delicious food and reasonable prices. Four girlfriends and I were in Dallas for the weekend and wanted to do something nice for Sunday brunch. We thought it was odd that we could find a legit brunch place so close to the airport, but when we drove up to the plaza, we were pleasantly surprised. There were three nice-looking restaurants with a large statue in the center of them. Not only did it exceed our expectations, but it's a place we are excited about visiting again when we're in the Dallas area. Anyway, it was Sunday morning and a relatively slow day, so we got seated in the covered patio area all to ourselves. It was bright with a lot of windows, making you feel like you're eating outdoors, with the covered safety of moderate temperatures. Each of us decided to order something and then rotate (my friends and I are all about trying different things and maximizing those opportunities). Everything was delicious. I think amongst what we ordered was a pulled pork eggs Benedict, the french toast, biscuits and gravy and the lobster eggs Benedict. The only bone I have to pick was that the biscuits were more roll-y than biscuit-y, and didn't have the texture I was hoping for. Besides that, everything was delicious, made with integrity. You can tell it was all homemade and carefully crafted. And the best part? Drinks were inexpensive! Bellinis were $1 each, and the Bloody Mary and Sangria were only $3 each. If you're a Bloody Mary fan, try it "extra spicy," which one of the girls did. Once we tried hers, two other girls ordered the same. It was one of the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had. Probably one of my favorite places so far for a nice group dinner. I made reservations here for a ladies night dinner for a friend's birthday, on Saturday. The ambiance is great and staff was friendly. Our server was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions and took our jokes well. Food was delicious. We started off with the lump crab cakes and calamari. Both were delicious. The calamari was fresh and cut into thick slices with two dipping sauces. We each ordered something different, but I had the Wagyu steak cooked medium rare with a side of saffron risotto. The steak was cooked perfectly and the quality of the Wagyu was great for the price. I recommend the Deep Eddy Peach Moscow Mule for a cocktail. It was refreshing and not too sweet. I will definitely be returning to try out the rest of their menu. read more

Loved it! Winewood is a sister restaurant to Bob's Steak & Chop which is one of my wife and my favorite restaurants anywhere. Winewood is in the same shopping complex and when Julie learned that they were doing a soft opening in advance of their regularly announced opening we were eager to try it. We were not disappointed. The staff was unbelievable! My water glass never got below half full ever. There was always someone to take away a plate that we were finished with but there was never any pressure to finish a course. I got the oyster's rockafeller. They were good, though I have had better. My wife won't do oysters so she didn't try them and I think she was impressed that I would. I though they could have been cooked a little longer and I would have liked a little more cheese on them but they were good enough to get again. And they're SO hard to find. Our steaks were wonderful. My rib eye was tender and perfectly seasoned. The wine list looks great but one of us was going to have to drive home so I let her do the drinking. One of Julie's favorite drinks is a Pear Martini. We've tried them everywhere and nothing compares to Bobs. But since this is a sister restaurant to Bob's she asked the waiter if they could make her one. He took the order and almost immediately the bar manager arrived to ask what exactly we wanted. When we described Bob's margarita, he went next door and got the recipe. They already had everything they needed to make it. And it was as good as Julie hoped! Afterward we met the GM of Winewood, the GM of Bob's and Winewood's district manager. They were eager to know how our dining experience was and asked lots of questions. I was impressed that they would take the time to make sure that their customers are satisfied. There's shouldn't be any challenge with parking. They've got lots all around the store. And I suspect you could vallet at Bob's if you wanted to. I know we'll go back here at some point. They have a chicken cordon bleu that looks yummy, and I am eager to try the artizinal cheese plate.
