Food is good.. used to be better. My gripe is what you pay for what you get. $26 for a steak tip sub that was 8" with nothing extra added. They used to be footlong and the bread was great and it was loaded with meat. The burger had an odd taste that I can put my finger on.. not in a good way either Straight robbing folks. Wow. Is all I can say to describe this experience I've had eating here. I had the turkey tip gyro and the sweet potato fries and it was sooooooooooooooo good. I honestly didn't expect much going into this establishment an hour before they closed, and they looked like they were putting everything away for the night... but I digress.... it was Amazing. Oh my word. I'm a first timer and I'm blown away! I had their teriyaki sirloin tips from the butcher shop the other night.... UNREAL. Every bite seemed like the most delicious meat I've ever tasted! I highly recommend trying the teriyaki flavor, but i also bought the steak house flavored tips which i have yet to try. I doubt you can go wrong with any flavor. Their pricing is pretty reasonable too! 1lb of steak tips (which gave 3 good size tips- a good amount for 2 people) was roughly $20. Not bad at all! First let me say we have been customers since the very first week they opened. We live close by and purchase our meat here as well as many take out meals. I was so excited they added the eat in area and have tried it twice now. I am astonished at how dirty and disorganized they are. It has changed this as our go to as our stay away from and we miss the food. The last lunch we had there was around 12:30 on a weekend. We walked in to see a few people at tables but the majority were empty but dirty. Dirty dishes, napkins, crumbs and sauces. We ordered food thinking by the time it was ready someone would surely have cleaned off the tables but that did not happen, my husband wiped it down. As we are eating, no new customers at all. The older lady behind the counter finally comes out and started to clear two tables, with her gloves on, she pushed the trash down with her HANDS and then went right back behind the counter and started bagging food!! I could have died. We watched one horrible practice after another and that was it for me. After the guy helping ran his hands across his face and hair and then handed my husband a to go container without washing or putting gloves on we were out and left the leftover food. I am so sad because there is so much potential here but the lack of actual restaurant training is unacceptable. I have worked in restaurants since a teen and some basic sanitary practices are absent. Makes me question everything about this store! Hoping things improve but we'll give it some time before heading back. read more

Horrible experience. I was next door at Edge getting my haircut by Armando, who is very goid, and thought I'd stop in next door and grab a burger. I figured a butcher shop should have fresh delicious burgers and the photo of a burger hanging in the window looked delicious. Unfortunately that was not the case. I walk in and my first impression is of a strangely organized space that has some fresh produce to the right of the door, some wine in the middle, refrigerated meats to the left, frozen meats to the back right, an odd small selection of tiny desserts in the back left, and a back counter to order food. I head to the back to look at the menu. The young lady who helped me was less than useful having no knowledge of any of the items on the menu and unable to answer the simplest of questions. I ended up ordering the Steakhouse burger, pay and walk around the store to take a closer look at what is in stock while I wait. As I'm looking around, I realize that a burger temperature was never asked for so I ask the next young lady I see, "how are the burgers cooked?" She had no idea and three people later I'm told they are cooking it Well-done. This seemed odd to me since most great burgers are medium to medium-rare. I request medium, so they start a new burger for me. At this point I think to ask if fries are included with my burger. They are not so now I have to order fries. At this point, I've been here awhile and am sitting near the soda cooler waiting for my food. First my fries arrive, without my burger, and they are simply frozen and fried to order. Things are just getting worse by the minute. Now my burger arrives. It looks like someone took a frozen beef pattie, cooked it and stuck it on an uninspired mass produced bun. The taste was bland, the texture like a frozen Bubba Burger you can find in the frozen section of a grocery store, the fries were reconstituted and the staff was unknowledgeable and slow. There were no less then seven people walking around and not one person stopped to ask how I was doing. The saving grace was that once I found the manager he was kind enough to refund me my money. I definitely won't be back for the in-house dining. Perhaps the other features of this establishment are better. read more

When ordering an Italian sub...what is one of the most important things for first impressions? The bread, right? So when you get an Italian with slightly stale bread, the rest of the sandwich is almost irrelevant. Combine that with not enough things like tomatoes, canned sliced olives and banana peppers(?), you get an overpriced, mediocre sandwich. Really want to like this place but am constantly underwhelmed by everything about it. read more

I finally went to the Wine'ing butcher down the street to get a Thanksgiving Turkey. I got most of the fixin's and the Old Bay Crab Dip which was the best! The 5lb Turkey ended up being 8 Lbs. And it was the best Turkey ever! I did not get the Brined or Cajun Turkey due to Family blandness but I really would like to try it that way. For Christmas they had a USDA Prime Rib Roast with Bone In which I had them cut. OMG, this was my first attempt to roast a Prime Rib Roast and it as an A+ Success! True USDA Prime is the way to go. Again with the Old Bay Crab dip but they put green onion in this batch. Not a good idea. I would highly recommend the Wine'ing Butcher for both their Boars Head Meats, Wonderful Sides, and Holiday Dinners! And let me not forget the Best Staff! Extremely helpful and Super Nice! read more

Great sandwiches! Deli meat was piled on high just like it is in New York. Good quality bread on the sandwiches and some nice touches on the toppings. I agree with other posters on the cheese steak. Meat is in bigger slices. Not hard to chew but hard to bite into. Super tasty though. That sandwich needs a sturdier roll. Very good but difficult to eat. Bread could not contain the sloppiness but I was happy to eat it with a fork. I will say the peppers & onions were extremely tasty which was an unexpected star of the show. The macaroni & potato salads were good - I'd add salt & pepper to taste. French fries were killer! I feel like the folks who have this as a local eatery are very lucky. What happened to this place? I used to come in and it was a great experience, recently it has changed. The steak selection has gone down drastically. When I walked in, I waited at the meat counter and got no service, I think this was because the music was so loud they didn't even notice I walked in. So this is a little butcher and wine store...hence the name "Wine'ing Butcher." ;) There are lots of other little treats and side dishes as well. Ok...so I bought a Living Social Deal here a few months back for marinated meats and now we are hooked. :) We bought the Steak Tips that you grill at home (Teriyaki and Fire House) and they were SO good.... The twice baked potatoes are good too...but I am happy doing doing my own potatoes at home. They make homemade gelato and sorbet as well. My husband LOVES the Salted Carmel! So we decided to try the Wine'ing Butcher for Christmas dinner. We had to pre-order. We chose a Prime Rib Roast...They gave us cooking directions and it came out AMAZING! My only complaint was a little disorganization when picking up on Christmas Eve...they didn't have a great system down...as they didn't direct you where to go and you had to stand in one line and then another line. I ended up standing in 3 lines since I didn't know where to go originally. It took a little time and I was okay with it (happy I didn't have kids with me)...but I know there were other customers who were a little annoyed by it. This place had a little bit of everything. Wine, chicken cutlets, fresh baked goods, etc.. All at your convenience I suppose. They have two separate counters: one to purchase your goods and another to order food. I got a teriyaki burger with pineapple and it was fantastic, as were the fries. Everything came out fresh and hot in a timely manner. The menu isn't extensive but all of the items on there sound very delicious. I will be returning. read more

This review is for the food menu as we haven't tried buying cuts or groceries here yet. We tried the burgers and the Northender (Italian) sub. Both were very tasty. The burgers were juicy and flavorful with fresh toppings. The Italian was fresh deli meat and a good sub roll when toasted was crunchy and soft in the middle. The olive spread they use for the sandwich had a good flavor to pair with the Italian meats. All in all the food was fresh and done well. We recommend. read more

I've been in here once before, but just to look around. I checked in here via Yelp and got 1 free steak tip of my choice. Much to my surprise this free steak tip was a little more than a quarter pound of steak (round tip I believe). I choose the bourbon and maple marinaded steak....not bad at all! Anyway, came in to get a brisket point to make some burnt ends for the weekend. This was on a Monday - they said they were out of brisket, but meat delivery days are typically on Tues. and Thurs. (good to know). So came back the next day, Tues., and brought my wife and kids. In addition to having a wonderful selection of proteins, they have several olive oils, fresh and local veggies, and sauces, just to name a few of the other products they carry. The butcher, David I believe, was great! He knew exactly what cut the point of a brisket is. Lots of folks have no idea what a point is, even some "butchers". He cut me 6 lbs, wrapped it and even chatted with me for a few minutes. I'm also going to post some pics of the burnt ends. Being active duty Army, I also appreciated that they did a 10% discount for Vets on Veterans Day. Much appreciated. You guys have definitely earned a repeat customer. read more

Nice little wine and butcher shop that also sells meals and lunch items. I usually go on Thursdays to get the French dip special. This includes a French dip sandwich and fries for $13. The sandwich has cheese, Carmelized onions, and a horseradish sauce on a baguette roll. It is absolutely to die for! I've also tried a few of their other sandwiches and have never been disappointed! Their wine selection is a little small, but they all look like good quality wines. The staff is super friendly. I once came in to order pick up and they accidentally gave me the wrong order. When I called the store I spoke with Andrew and he was apologetic and offered me a free sandwich on my next visit. Made my second trip in 2 weeks. Got the bone in rib-eye this time. Once again, absolutely world class. Additionally, I sent my wife this time. I called ahead to make sure they wouldn't be out (they weren't). The guy I spoke to was clearly bi-lingual. I mentioned that my wife is Spanish, so I'd specifically tell her to talk to him. He let out a big laugh and said "no problem". When I asked my wife, she said the guy was an absolute pleasure to deal with. So they've got an awesome staff, as well as world class steaks. Stopped off for a quick snack on the way to D.C, everything in this place looks great, the deli food is amazing. I picked the Mexcian wrap, what an explosion of flavour. All the vegetables in the wrap were really really fresh and tasty, a definite hit. My wife had the Boston Bomber sandwich, and was equally impressed, the beef was to die for, very very lean, and great taste. Service was very quick and very friendly. Wow! Customer service is phenomenal and the food matches. These folks take great pride in educating customers as to the value of their foods and menu. The specials looked great, but I needed a light lunch and grabbed the chicken salad wrap, grilled panini style. I will most definitely return for some marinated meats for the grill, and perhaps a bottle of wine from their excellent stock. Ok, just went back for lunch and had the Atlantic Seafood Chowder. I make my own homemade soup, and... are you kidding me? This was one of the best chowders I've ever had. Crazy! read more

Decent little shop with interesting prepared food options. My aunt adores the chicken salad here. I decided to try a prepared lunch and take home marinated steak tips for the grill. I purchased an entree salad for about $14 with Brussels sprouts, greens and chicken. My daughter liked the flavors but not one of us liked the citrus dressing. Thank goodness I got it on the side. The bourbon maple tsteak tips were a total hit. We cooked them with asparagus on the side and it made a great meal for four. The package was $26. Honestly, they were really expensive in my view but they were very tender and like o said-- a hit-- so even my frugal fiancé was ok with the splurge. read more

I don't get this place. I went in after my appointment at the dentist. I've wanted to try them out, so I went in to see what they had. I bought a few things. The greek-marinated lamb chops looked good, so I bought 2/3rds of a pound (14-ish dollars.) They had fried macaroni balls and macaroni squares, so I bought one each ($7 total). I also bought one twice-baked potato (7 dollars) and a half a pound of mashed sweet potato (3 dollars.) So here I am at $31 total spent. We go home and pan fry the lamb chops. They were delicious if a little expensive. However, the rest of the food was BLAND! The twice-baked potato barely had any seasoning on it - some salt, a little bit of bacon, and barely any cheese. I paid $5 for this? Both macaronis were BLAND too - no seasoning. I paid $7 for this? Even the sweet potato mash was BLAND - no seasoning at all! I paid $3 for this? I thought the sweet potato mash was going to have some brown sugar in it, because that's how I've always had sweet potato mash. So lesson learned. *Maybe* buy the meat, but never buy the sides, they are a rip-off. Probably not coming back. read more

Ordered the steak tip sandwich and while the steak tips were cooked perfectly, the sandwich itself was very dry and not juicy, like you'd expect it to be. The dryness made it hard to chew and swallow as the sandwich stuck to the inside of your mouth. I felt it was too much bread and not enough filling and perhaps was lacking a sauce or moisture of some sort. Great in theory, but poorly executed. Disappointing because as I stated prior, the steak tips, themselves, were great. They need a better version of the sandwich to be showcased in. Manager was very nice, as were the staff. read more

I found this restaurant through a local neighborhood app. They are offering takeout during the COVID-19 shutdown and someone was asking where she could get a good Cobb salad, as most restaurants are offering a limited menu - if at all. I was dying for a good Cobb as well! I went to their menu and they have pizza and wings, burgers, Mexican and 3 awesome entree salads. I ordered the Cobb, a Mexican chicken wrap (it was huge) and a small margarita pizza. Everything was soooo delicious! The Cobb salad was huge and the eggs and avocado and all toppings were plentiful. The pizza crust flavorful and tomato sauce tangy goodness. I have one tiny criticism- the margarita pizza is supposed to have fresh basil and did not, but I didn't take away a star for that cuz they added garlic and onions and it was still delish. This place, which is next to their butcher and wine shop, is wonderful and I will be back often. Thanks for the fabulous food during these abnormal times! Much needed. I wouldn't really consider this an actual butcher. It's an expensive specialty market that's confused about what it wants to be. There's a small produce section; when I was there, it was very picked over and had nothing local. There's a freezer case that had a couple kinds of burgers and sausages. There's a wine section in the middle and a prepared-foods section; I didn't look closely at these. The actual meat section seemed to be mostly marinated meat. I asked about ingredients in the marinades because of some food allergies, but the employee didn't know and didn't have an ingredient list available. The particular cut of meat I was looking for was available only in huge packages and I couldn't buy a smaller amount. I expect that at a grocery store; I wasn't pleased to find that at a place claiming to be a butcher shop. I didn't buy anything and won't try again. read more

Can't say enough about the food, service and, of course, beer. This has become my go-to spot for picking up dinner after work or sitting in with the family and ordering off the menu. The meat selection is delicious and varies with the season. Better yet, they stock an impressive collection of local beer that you can try from the draft or pick up in a can or bottle. And finally, the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. They will do what it takes to make your experience pleasant and the price is actually reasonable, especially when you sign up for the awards program.
