We went here the other day for lunch and all of their food was delicious. The steak tips and cheese was not like your typical steak and cheese but it was still awesome. Their marinades make the meat so tender. Usually when meat is cooked well done, it gets tough and dry. Their steak tips were fully cooked yet still juicy and amazing. Although it is a little on the pricy side, it's nice to have somewhere like this to get really deliciously pre-prepared meat for special occasions. I am looking forward to trying their other marinated meats. In addition to the meat, we had their Ceasar salad and their clam chowder. Both were very very good, and their ceasar dressing is on point. I was hoping to buy some but it wasn't something they sold. However, the nice lady who was working said that they could prepare some in the future to sell to me. Lastly, they have a lot of other things in their store. It is a cute market, with wine and other deli type foods. I probably couldn't afford to shop there regularly but as mentioned before I will definitely stop by again when I'm in the mood for fine dinner. Oh yeah and their gelato is awesome too! The Wine'ing Butcher is kind of an unusual place. It is a grocery store up front with fresh meat on the side and a little kitchen in the back. We have gotten some of their raw wings and beef tips to take home. They do something different with the meat marinade and the flavor gets totally infused into the meat. I don't cook so I didn't even bother to try to figure it out but I can taste the difference. Husband and I had a sandwich there last weekend. I had a chicken pesto panini that was wonderful. The bread... the chicken... the cheese... the pesto. You can imagine Homer Simpson here, drooling and making his signature sound. It was very good. I did get a bit of a chuckle when the guy taking my order asked if I wanted my panini toasted. I think by virtue of the definition of a panini, it would be most properly prepared "toasted." Wine department is well appointed and the side stuff looks good. It appears that they have a couple more display cases that are ready to be brought on line. I'm looking forward to seeing what else is added. We live in the Burg so this is a destination for us. It is one trip I'm happy to make. read more

Hubby and I went last weekend for lunch. I had the mexican chicken and wrap and it was soooo good! He had the cajun burger and thought it was ok. We have also had the pizza from there which was good but so far the Mexican chicken wrap is a winner for us! The whoopie pie we got for later was extremly dry and the frosting was so heavy. Not the whoopie pie we are used to coming here from Maine. They have a great butcher counter filled with lots of items to cook on the grill. We will def be back! read more

Would be nice if it was open later in the evening, especially in the weekends, 8PM is really too early as many products are ideal for if you have unannounced guests in the evening. Sometimes I wonder if it is fresh enough, especially if I see those huge trays with prepared meat that are left just before closing time. Maybe prepare less food in advance? read more

Off the beaten path and like other reviewers we 'stumbled on to it' on our way home from a ride on the W&OD trail. There is a genuine traditional butcher shop which features aged beef along with many marinated selections which I forward to trying. There's wine (obviously), brick oven pizza, produce, an excellent deli and and enough more to make this a unique store before you even try the menu. We tried three of the sandwiches and they were each distinctively excellent. We very much look forward to our next visit! read more

A welcome addition to the historic end of Old Ashburn. Seems like it took forever to open, but so far well worth the wait. I've tried their steaks, sandos, wraps, and their Cobb Salad and have not been disappointed yet. (Their fries are great too!) If only I could give negative stars... 1) person taking orders was very nice and clarified our orders several times, but got it wrong. Menu item; hamburger, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion Guest; hamburger with no mustard, pickle on the side What comes out; hamburger with mustard and ketchup slathered on top and BELOW the burger. We take it back and I see the chef lift up the bun like she is going to scrap the mustard off. Second time; burger comes out plain on bun (nothing on it), no LTO. Third time; comes out (of course by now cold) as ordered. 2) person taking order has to check if there is dairy in chili and says yes chili is part of the $4 add on with entree. They when comes back from checking on the dairy states neither the chili or other special soup are part of the $4 add on; nope they are $9. So in other words only one soup, the tomato soup gets you the deal. Even the the exclusions do not list chili. 3)2/4 guests had intestinal issues after eating here, not suprisingly given item 4 below. 4) Guest; "may I have a cup of tap water" 1st person behind counter "there is a water fountain over there" Guest: "may I have a cup of water in a cup" 2nd person behind counter "do you see the cups I put over there?" Guest: "I prefer not to drink water out of the fountain, since we spent over $50 in food may I please have a glass of water". Wait for it..... 3rd person and I believe the owner: "We don't have any sanitary drinking water to offer you". Quoted exactly as stated. Hmmm, how then do you cook the orzo pasta, or add ANY WATER to what you are cooking. Hello, health department officials please check into this place. Were they upset because we didn't purchase beer, soda or overpriced bottled water? Oh and the location is completely in a bad area, there was an incident with a drunk(?) person hitting one of my guests, bashing on a car, then being barred from place, then police getting called. Jeez. Believe the pictures from the person that shows what the food really looks like not the marketing pictures. read more

This NYC transplant was disappointed after multiple visits. The Wine'ing butcher is basically a grocery store deli counter. Most of the meat is pre-seasoned or marinated, honestly looks over-marinated, with the addition of boars-head deli meats. Franky everything I saw in there can be acquired at Wegmans, and probably at a better price. I initially stopped by to look for lardons which are not available at Wegmans but are available at any decent butcher in NYC. Not only does this butcher not carry them, no one - NO ONE in the place knew what I was talking about. I bought some marinated tips and some cheese and sides. The meat was indeed over marinated which had started to break down the flesh, we ate it but this is a preventable problem and was disappointing given the price paid. The un-marinated meat looked OK, the prices were high. To give it another try, last weekend I called asking about what sausages/brats they had stocked, four varieties are on their website. Yeah, they didn't have any and didn't know when they would and again no one knew what was going on. I will not be back. Hunting for a solution I did find an authentic brats location - Lothar's Gourmet Sausages in Purcellville. Over 20 types of brats, some well cut steaks and, cue the singing angels, lardons and smoked pork fat! Lothar is a meat savant, German native and amazing sausage maker and his wife who runs the counter is kind and knowledgeable. Worth the drive! Im still looking for a magical butcher closer to Ashburn, will shop at Wegmans and farmers markets until I find it! read more

I love that there's a place in Ashburn where I can get really good cuts of meat, a wide variety of meats marinated different ways, wine, random vegetables, and some craft beers all in one spot. I've never had lunch here but it's great if you're having family over or a cookout. read more

A client at my work was telling me about their take-out salads today. Drive by this place almost daily and never been inside. Stopped on way home tonight and picked up a Greek salad with grilled steak. The staff was amazing - took me around to show me everything they carry & how their marinated meats are prepared. Called at 11am to ask a question. Was about 10 seconds - literally! - into my question when "Pam" cut me off and told me how busy she was. She was clearly put off that I'd had the audacity to call their store. ummm...why answer the phone then?? I then called back to reserve some meat to pick up later that day and she was equally short and rude. I emailed the store and no one even bothered responding. You won't catch me giving my money to them again. Shame, too, considering we always buy a ginormous rib roast for Christmas dinner from them. I work in the building across the street from this place and although at first I had not realized this was a deli along with butcher shop I decided to google it. I found their online menu and made a take out lunch order. Go pick up my order and instantly fall in love with the concept - I realize a lot of people might not love this concept but personally I think it's innovative and fresh. Their food is outstanding and mouth watering. My husband and I wanted to have a quick lunch date during the week with our busy work days, I recommended he'd meet me here and he was so impressed with the food. We're both foodies and appreciate delicious, fresh ingredients. I've had their lunch on multiple ocassions, I recommend their chicken pesto panini as well as their Mexican chicken wrap!! The food is very good but it looks like they're starting to skimp. I started going here for lunch soon after they opened and would switch between the full steak tip sub and the full chicken philly. Both the chicken and steak tips were delicious and they were generous with the meat. Half of the sandwich would stuff me. That didn't stop me from ordering the full sandwich, but I would have to eat it as a separate meal. The last 3 times I've gone, they've been very light on the meat. I've been able to eat the full sandwich with no problem. For ~$12 and $14 per sandwich including tax (chicken and steak respectively) it was fine with what they used to give, but it's a little too pricey for me for what they give now. Purchased a 5 bone-in, 40 day dry aged, prime rib roast just shy of 10 pounds. Was told over the phone that the best way to serve it is to have WB de-bone and tie the bones in place. Picked up the roast on Friday, put it in the refrigerator and took it out Christmas morning to cook and discover it is just one large chunk of meat, skin, fat, and bone (appears to about 30% meat. I understand that dry aging causes the liquid to be pulled out of the meat and reduce the overall weight. Will update this post after cooking the roast. read more

Overall pretty good. Not the best I've ever had but definitely good quality stuff. Went here with my roommate the other night and ordered the rajun cajun with onion rings while she got a chicken pesto panini. I thought the cajun was pretty good. The shrimp were fairly large and it was loaded with andouille sausage The aioli was a pretty good fit for the sandwich. The onion rings were nice and crisp. Was a little pricey but the quality of the shrimp and rest of the ingredients definitely justified it. She thought the panini was okay..Nothing special. Came here because of a friend's recommendation and couldn't resist with a groupon deal! Ordered enough food to bring back home to eat during the Superbowl. Their burgers tasted great, I'd recommend getting their Jack Daniel wings though! Wish I hadn't ordered the buffalo wings so I could've ordered more of the Jack Daniel flavored ones instead. Also, ordered their chicken salad wrap to bring to work as a meal which had a weird after taste. Overall, it is a nice little addition to Ashburn worth giving a try if you are in the area. read more

Huge anticipation for this opening. A Gourmet market in the neighborhood is such a HUGE ad. They had a soft opening. I went on opening day. Shelves half full and nothing priced. That has not changed very much over the last month although getting better. Most of the food has been good. The Steak House Tips are great. The produce FRESH and the wine seems reasonably priced. Arancini very good. The opportunities this market is facing is the service. I have been in over 6 times and it has been very disorganized. I have gone unacknowldged many times and I have seen 1st time customers go unacknowledged. The Manager (dark hair) has what looks like a scowl on her face, every time. Definitely rough around the edges, no smile or eye contact. She seems overwhelmed and focused on tasks versus the people in front of her. I went in again for a sandwich at lunch time. There was serious tension in the air and it was the 2nd very unwelcoming experience I had had. I definitely understand they are ironing out the kinks. I will be patient. But I will also be looking for a more professional experience. It is one thing to be unprofessional (eating behind the counter while waiting on customers and making my sandwhich) but yet another to be unwelcoming. I felt like a burdon as they were so task-focused. I realize the owners are new to the area. I hope you have a mecansim for receiving and responding to feedback. (I sent an email last week but never heard back from anyone) Ashburn (Loudoun Co) is a great demographic but the businesses that do well around here are Friendly and Professional. I look forward to continuing to visit while you work through these issues. I have had 3 colleagues and friends say they have also received rude or indiferent service. My entire family and I are obsessed with this place! We've tried their steak tips in almost every marinate-- my favorite is the burgundy wine sauce and my boyfriends is the really spicy one (REALLY hot, I can't remember the name) and we love them all! We've also gotten the key lime chicken which is amazing, and the maple burgundy salmon which was pretty good. The prices are extremely fair for what you are getting and everyone that works here are super nice and helpful. We will definitely be back :) read more

It's apparent they focus on the total experience; quality, quantity, ambiance, and service. We were thrilled with the plethora of options, the quality of selection, and the level of service provided. We are a family of four, with two little ones under 5, yet appreciate experiences that are a step or more above par. We have enjoyed number of burgers and wraps from The Wine'ing Buthcer in the past but I was very disappointed with this evening's offering. I generally order the Bacon Cheddar Burger and savor every last bite! Today I mixed things up a bit and ordered the Steakburger. The description said, "our most popular seasoning". Sadly, the red pepper seasoning - which was not mentioned - was SO hot that I could not finish my meal. The menu description should include a hint as to the spiciness of this particular entree. When I brought my concern to the attention of one of the workers there, all I recieved was, "I apologize for that." Hmmm. I will return but will not order this item again. read more

Holy smokes, the steak tips were pure perfection. My husband and I both agreed that it was the best meat we've had in years. We grilled them the way the butcher recommended and it was bliss. Disappointed with the Shop from the moment I walked in. Butcher shop it is not. Meats & Seafood in the cases looked as though they had been there for days. They were over run with marinate. There were a few steaks cut; obviously been there for quite some time and did not look fresh. I bought a chicken cordon bleu. After cooking, when I cut it, there was no ham or cheese inside but rather some little crunch y nuggets. Steak tips were no better. Lots of fat, little meat hard to eat. I was there on a Sat around noon time. Sandwiches were doing a brisk business. What there was of the wine display was really lacking.
