While exploring the Oak Cliff/Bishop Arts district, we saw a TINY Italian place on the corner…read morecalled Abruzzo's. I tried to bookmark it on Yelp, but couldn't find it. Come to find out - this place is actually the "Bishop Arts Winery," and only opened up a restaurant a couple months ago! We arrived at 7, and we were the only guests there for an hour as the musician set up to play. By the time 8:15 rolled around, the music was in full swing and the 7-10 tables were all occupied by old couples, groups of friends, and even a family with 3 young kids! Although the space itself is small, it wasn't claustrophobic at all - it was homey and nice. Not too loud either. The ambience was very romantic; I loved the interior decorations that made it feel like little Italy and home all at the same time. Now for food - they bring out hot, Parmesan dusted bread as you order and wait for your food...mmmmm. We got the BAW Cabernet Sauvignon by the bottle (24.99) and she let us know that it would be $8 per glass, so it's a bit cheaper to go for the bottle. We had heard good things about the cheese board, so we got a small. Perfect appetizer: at least 6 different tastes of cheeses, salami, different spreads and jams and crackers. Loved it, perfect for 2 people. Our waitress also inspired us to get this fried artichoke/crab meat ball...sounds weird but it was SO GOOD!!!!! Show stealer for sure. I got the classic spaghetti marinara, and Trip got the Bolognese lasagna. Both were impeccable, we are every bite - and the portions were generous but not excessive! Our service was awesome - it felt like they had at least 3 people circulating the small room to make sure everyone was taken care of. Wonderful experience and can't wait to go back!!!

Go pay Annette a visit! She was lovely to us on a Sunday afternoon. $12 flights, spicy reds and…read morecrisp white wines on deck. I loved my apple chardonnay and they have frozen sangria (mango or blackberry) for $3. Perfect way to cool off on a hot summer day! The cheese plate was shaped like Texas! Everything from start to finish was yummy and they have plenty of tables with a jukebox they are cranking up soon. Live music on the weekends and they are open til midnight. Come check it out!

Our evening started with a cocktail hour, during which we got to meet other guests over a glass of Roots & Water cabernet. We loved the cab - light and elegant. Once we were seated, we started with a glass of champagne with east coast oysters. For each course, one of the chefs came out to explain the dish and the inspiration behind it. Chef Adrien explained to us that he and Mollie had curated a menu of aphrodisiacs for Valentine's, and the oyster was prepared in a way that brought out ocean feels. We definitely tasted, felt the ocean waves with the soft red beet foam atop the oyster! Our favorite course of the menu was the soup/pasta dish - fideo noodles with tomato saffron brodo, generous pieces of lobster, and crispy leeks. I'm usually not a fan of tomato-based sauces, but this soup was SO delicious! Not too salty, not too powerful in taste, just right. The noodles were done al dente, with a slightly firm texture in every bite. And the lobster pieces were so soft! We devoured every bite of the entire meal, but we ultimately agreed this course stood out the most! The main was definitely a hit, too! It was braised Texas wagyu with root veg puree, herb emulsion, mushroom, and lots of truffle! We loved the strong flavors of the wagyu paired with the puree - so soft, so fluffy, subtle in taste. And the red that went with it *chef's kiss* We were also impressed with the potato dish - ambrosia fingerling potato with duck fat, burnt crema on top with caviar, ikura, trout roe. Who woulda thought caviar and roe go well with potato! And the crema to balance out all the flavors. We liked how the potato was sliced into perfectly thin pieces for each bite. For the dessert, the panna cotta was paired with a white wine, which we appreciated, as we're not big fans of port/dessert wines. We liked the balance in flavors with the sweet-citrusy taste of the panna cotta and the refreshing white. All in all, I could feel every ounce of attention and love poured into every dish, and we were very, very happy campers by the end of our dinner experience. Thank you to Roots & Water for hosting, as well as the chefs and sommeliers for curating an all-around beautiful experience. We hope to be back soon for some wine tastings!

Had the red flight, all good- Tempranillo was great- ( not a wine connoisseur folks, but these wines were good!) Ordered the charcuterie board as well- tasty- Service was fine- no problems there- What struck me was the ambience of the place- closest thing to the Hill country without being there! Hills like this in North Texas? Never knew- Views off the patio were great-If you're in the metroplex looking to escape for an afternoon- this is a short drive and worth it, ( Note; you will travel on some gravel and some hilly terrain)

Got fired for calling the health department (which is illegal) because the owner decided to let an outdoor fridge full of food sit without electricity for 4 days, causing all the food (meats and cheeses) to go completely bad. Instead of calling the health department themselves LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE to see if the food was still safe to consume, they called "a close friend who's a professional chef", and likely gave them info that was all incorrect or skewed, because no professional I've ever met or worked with would allow a fridge to sit for 4 days in the heat and consider anything inside of it safe. The health department informed me that the food would have been toxic at that point and needed to be discarded immediately. When I informed Walt and Nicole, both were not only taken aback, but were actually mad and started slandering me about how terrible I was at my job. A former supervisor quit on the spot because of that exact behavior; them berated and belittling them saying they weren't worth their pay (after withholding money from their paycheck) Being fired for calling the health department is illegal, and withholding pay is also illegal. I got fired via email, with zero cause attached, so I can only assume they cheated the system and put "terminated without cause" to sidestep the actual reason. Nicole was, to put it blatantly, a slave driver. We declined alcohol sales to a pregnant woman and her visibly inebriated husband, and when they posted a baf review on Facebook, we all got reprimanded for it. Not only is it illegal to serve alcohol to someone who's visibly had one too many, it's morally insane to serve alcohol to a pregnant woman. But we were told if we spoke anything against Nicole's call, then it would be a write up. The food is made at some random dudes house, btw. Not a professional, not someone with a culinary background, not someone who's ever worked in a fine dining environment. Just a friend of Walt's. The food was made in his house, frozen, shipped to them, then thawed and heated in a toaster oven and served at nearly $20 for a small pizza. Horrendous. The place is run by the most insane couple I've ever had the displeasure of meeting, who are never on the same page, and would get into heated arguments right in front of the staff, and both loved to belittle their staff. Neither have any business running a company of any caliber, much less a fine dining winery experience.

The knowledge was there. The passion was there. The interaction was there. My questions were answered. He showed us video footage during our walking tour to back the events of 11-22-63. And because the walking tour was just my mom and I, he drove us along the route. We discussed every turn, every conspiracy theory and never missed a beat. It was a tour from someone who lives and breathes his job. I will gladly take a longer tour in the future because there is so much more I want to see. Side note: I was impressed with how downtown Dallas preserves its history. Everything along the route was there in 1963. I post on more than one platform so I will be leaving this review there and this is my personal first hand experience.

He reached out via text prior to start of the tour to provide important information and just say hello and introduce himself. Photo included! He was a great driver and very patient with participants. It was unseasonably hot that day and he kept checking to make sure everyone was doing OK. Even assisting the ladies(myself included) into and out of the van. I love that it was a small group. Makes it more personal. We went to all the major sites in just over three hours. Cost is very reasonable($62.99) and I booked through Viator who also does a great job! This tour is HIGHLY recommended!
