Yes, wine and spirit is the only liquor store in the Edgewater community. Great selection of wines and beers and great location. Always busy, especially during the holidays.. I work for a nonprofit arts and education organization. Have lived in the Edgewater community for the 36 years . I approached wine & spirit to see if they will sponsor an assembly program to one of the local schools. I spoke to Anne of one of the owner wife, she said Yes!!!sure send me the information I emailed and hand delivered our brochure and proposal. I followed up with a courtesy email I even went to the store to no avail. The price points are decent for the location and the selection is vast. They even carry hookahs for those of you who require fire with your spirits. There are tastings some evenings and a decent sized fridge that has select bottles chilled. I love this liquor store. Especially when I'm looking to try some new wines. The staff is very friendly and the man who works the front is extremely knowledgeable on both the tastes and story behind every wine. I can kick myself for not knowing his name since I've been there plenty of times. He's super helpful and already knows my palate- dry red wine or a nice dry Sauvignon Blanc. Every time I go, he gives me suggestions, and I am never disappointed. He even shared with me the story behind "The Prisoner" a nice, dry and strong red wine that's been one of my favorites for a couple of years now. Expansive selection of wine, spirits and beer. Staff is very knowledgeable and has always been helpful when requesting assistance or recommendations. Parking is very easy. The attached lounge and hookah bar is a well nestled oasis within Edgewater. I used to go when Wine & Spirits was in its old location up River Road and this location is so much better. Space is well laid out and the decor is contemporary cool. There is open air seating on the outer edge and I believe, now a second floor. Only had the hookah once, but was pretty impressed with how attentive the staff was to tending the embers. Pricing in the store is about average. Will have to hang out in the lounge more to better comment on pricing there. read more

I'm 99.999999% certain, in the words of Maury Povich, this is the only liquor store in Edgewater. MUY IMPORTANTE: 10 PM is the latest they can (legally) sell hard liquor. 10:01 PM until 12 AM is beer and wine only. Conveniently located in the Edgewater Commons shopping complex, this little store has a variety of wine, hard liquor, champagne and beer. In comparison to the store size, they actually have a nice selection of wine (located on the left hand side right when you walk in). I haven't purchased any bottles as of yet but will in the future as the staff seem knowledgeable and amicable. Beer - Located adjacent to the check out counter, the prices are typical and range from $6.99 to $8.99 for a 6 pack. They offer a decent selection from Bud/Coors to Flying Dog to Tsing Tao to Brooklyn Brewery to a bunch of German beer that start with the letter "W", except for my beloved Weinstephan. Hard Liquor - Located on the right hand side of the store upon entering (opposite wine), offers a nice variety as well. I don't know how valid this is but I like to compare liquor store prices by their Grey Goose price. The cheapest I've seen for a 750 ml of Grey Goose is $29.99. Edgewater Wine & Spirits sells it for $30.99. If you're as smart as I am with calculations, that's a whole $1 more which in my book passes the "Am I paying too much for alcohol when I can go to A&P* and get it for cheaper?" test. According to my roommate, the Duane Reade across the street from my apartment sells beer but I doubt they have a notable selection. Plus, what if I feel like throwing back a couple shots of whiskey or want to pour myself a nice glass of bordeaux? It's not you Duane, it's me. In conclusion, I've come to terms with the fact that I can't/will not date someone who doesn't drink alcohol. I go here for all my wine selections as I live just up the hill, and greeted every time by the staff asking if I need help making a new selection. The store has cold beer only (it seems) but quite the variety. They have cold wine (limited selection) and shelves upon shelves of room temperature wine. This review is for the liquor store only. Initially my boyfriend and I was heading towards Mitsuwa and decided to come by this wine & spirits store, because we are a wine lover. It's not a huge store like bottle king, but they have a fantastic selection of wine. The guy owner (wish I got his name) was extremely kind and helpful. He showed us some vintage and expensive wines (which I can't afford, but would love to have LOL)! Surprisingly I came across a Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 2012, which is their 40th anniversary. There aren't much of those around, so I just had to get it. The guy also recommended some wines for us to try and gave us his personal opinion and knowledge on why they were good. He sure knows his history on wine, which is a PLUS in my book. He also gave us a little discount, which is always greatly appreciated! First, this is for the wine store... The store is welcoming, and has a huge selection of great wines, especially Spanish and Italian. I haven't had to ask staff a question, but it is great that they have a ton of ratings on wines of all prices and varietals. The ratings are relevant to the actual year of wine that is in stock (which is not common). I have had some great $10-$14 wines here, and I like that the beer selection is decent for the limited space the reserve for it. Parking is a plus, there is an ATM on location as well, though they accept credit cards. The prices, even on well known expensive wines is cheaper than most, and though the beer is a bit pricey. It may be because I am from MA, but prices are better. The hours of operation also make this place a good option as they are open 7 days a week until 12 (I am pretty sure). With a lot of BYOB restaurants nearby, it is well located, and you should stop and grab a bottle on the way. As far as wine stores go, I wouldn't give any 5 stars, unless they offer something that others don't offer. But relative to other wine stores, they are the best around. read more

I've only ever used the liquor store, I've never been to the bar behind. The store is very well stocked with an extensive selection of wine, beer and spirits. Every time we go (about once a week) we have asked for suggestions on the good wine currently in stock and every time the staff have made recommendations which are a) always spot on, and b) are quite often the best priced bottles, so we have never felt ripped off... in fact quite the opposite. The beer selection covers all the countries and brands that I can think of and more, I was born in the UK, lived in Asia for 8 years and now in the US and can satisfy my taste for Chinese, Japanese, British, Belgium and US beers, so feel well covered. The spirits section is on the right as you walk into the store and not only covers the good old favorites, but has introduced me to a whole new range of tastes and flavours. read more

My comment is only regarding the actual liquor store, not the hookah lounge/bar. A liquor store is just a liquor store, right? I guess to some it doesn't really matter where they go to pick up a six pack of beer, liquor or wine but then there are people like me who ask one too many questions about every type of liquor depending on the occasion. The reason I gave Wine & Spirits a five star rating is because the staff here is fantastic! They really know what they're talking about and they give you great recommendations! (And if they recommend something to you and you didn't enjoy it, they give you a full refund!) If I lived in the area, I would definitely be here more often but since I live a little out of the way, I stop by mostly for wine when I'm having guests over. I always need some advice picking wine and they always seem to help me pick the best wine within my price range. Oh and apparently, they are getting a chart soon that shows you what type of cheese pairs well with certain types of wine so that's a huge plus in my book! Cheers! read more

This store has a great selection of organic no sulfites added wine. Many stores will carry organic, but for me, the no sulfites added/detected is key! The workers are friendly, and the prices are reasonable. They're a little pricier but it's worth it when you know you can usually find what you want. And it's super convenient to swing by here on my way to Trader Joe's and the Asian market. It looks like their liquor and beer section has decent variety, but I have only ever come to hunt down wine. read more
