James was outstanding. Our garage door spring broke, trapping our car inside. I called him and he came out the same day and fixed it. Reasonable price, fast service. Highly recommend!! read more

James was a life-saver! Garage door issues come when you least expect it. Our garage door cable snapped and one of the rollers came out of the rail over the weekend during all the heavy rains. I was expecting to be without a functioning garage door for a week but James was able to come out the next day and fix the issues. James was super professional. His truck was well equipped, and he very knowledgeable. He responded without 10 minutes of my yelp inquiry, was easy to communicate with, and even trouble shot/fixed all of the non-urgent garage door issues I've been putting off to include my broken sensor, wall controller, outside keypad and creaking noises. I will definitely be reaching out when it's time to replace my garage door. If you have any garage door issues, James is your man! read more

Highly Recommend Windward Garage Doors - Excellent Service from James! I recently had Windward Garage Doors replace my ancient 20+ year old garage door opener, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The technician (and owner), James, was outstanding - friendly, highly knowledgeable, and truly professional from start to finish. He took the time to thoroughly inspect my setup and pointed out important safety issues I wasn't aware of, like the missing door sensors that are required for preventing accidents. His honesty and attention to safety really stood out and gave me peace of mind.James worked efficiently and completed the entire project on time: removing the old opener and installing a brand new Chamberlain model with a built-in camera (love the modern features!). He also went above and beyond by installing a larger, more robust weather seal at the bottom to better accommodate my uneven floor and prevent drafts, pests, and water from getting in. Before leaving, he shared helpful tips on routine maintenance to keep everything running smoothly for years to come. The whole experience was seamless, fairly priced, and done with genuine care - it shows that this is a veteran-owned small business focused on quality service. If you're in Oahu and need garage door work, call Windward Garage Doors and ask for James. James was great! He responded to my message almost immediately late at night and showed up at 7 AM sharp to fix the spring of our garage door. He was extremely professional and friendly. He took the time to explain to me how the door springs work, how long they last, and how to replace them. He also helped check out other parts of the door and told us which parts may need maintenance in the future. James is great at what he does and was very quick. It only took him an hour to fix everything and we were able to carry on with the rest of the day at 8 AM! The price James charged was very reasonable and slightly cheaper than other quotes I got. He was also not pushy in offering other services and adding additional charges. It was a very seamless and excellent service. Would definitely recommend James and his new business to everyone! read more

Was looking through Yelp for someone to look at our garage door. It seemed like part of the door was slightly off the track. We just purchased a home in Hawaii Kai and been busy trying to fix many parts of the home. I found Windward Garage through Yelp and gave them a call. James answered right away and came over quickly. Our family was so impressed at the service and care we received. The door was fine (not sure how it got back on the track) but James took a look at everything and spent time with us on setting up the MyQ on our garage opener and the structure. I told him down the road I wanted to change the garage door and he had brochures in his truck and gave them to us. After making sure our house is renovated we will be calling Windward garage to get a new opener and garage door! So impressed at the quality, honest and knowledgeable service! We are so glad we called Windward garage and James! Thank you for spending time with us. This review is over due but had to make a review! We will be calling soon! read more

Had a really solid experience with Windward Garage Doors today. James Neal, the owner, came out himself to fix my garage door, and everything about the visit felt honest and professional from the start. James took the time to explain what was going on, laid out the options clearly, and never tried to upsell or recommend anything that wasn't needed. You can tell right away he has integrity and takes pride in his work -- which is huge these days. It's a good feeling knowing I now have someone local I can trust from repairs to upgrading to the newest garage systems. I'd absolutely recommend Windward Garage Doors to my family and friends without hesitation. Quality work, excellent pricing, and real aloha in how he treats people. He quickly responded back to my request and was able to come by the following afternoon (less than 12 hours later) and was able to replace both springs. The pricing was discussed in his initial message to me (no surprises for total costs) and was super courteous the entire time. James was efficient, knowledgeable, and easy-going! My parents' garage cable was close to snapping, so I knew I needed to find someone fast. I reached out to several garage companies, but James immediately stood out because of his quick response and unique motto on Yelp, "If you can trust me with your life, then you can trust me with your garage door." With my background in the healthcare field, that really resonated with me and gave me peace of mind knowing my parents' garage was in trustworthy hands. His pricing was also very reasonable, which was an added bonus. I'll definitely be reaching out to him for any future services! Thanks again, James! read more

I requested service on my garage door opener based on reviews I read. James the owner of Windward Garage Doors is the person you need to call if you have issues. He is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain what he did and also some other info regarding the door sensors that I never knew. I appreciate that. I spazz'd out and thought my garage door was busted. It would not close, kept saying something in the way, and there was nothing there to obstruct closing...so I closed it by hand--it got away from me and crashed down. Then no-go. Wouldn't open. I fiddled and still no-go. So I reluctantly called for a repair guy and by description he thought maybe the springs broke? But all these guys are $100 just to LOOK so...here we go. So he emailed fast, confirmed a date fast and came right on time, looked, simple fix--off he went and off went my $100. BUT IT WORKS NOW. He also gave me some advice to make it last longer too. So, w'Ward business I like to support. Tim was intelligent, accommodating (my garage was a MESS full of crappola) and he didn't overcharge past the initial fee. Mahalo for that as it came from my food budget! aloha read more

5/4/26 Our spring broke and our belt needed replacing. James answered his phone immediately, and showed up within an hour! He provided excellent service--he was expedient, knowledgeable, prepared, and willing to explain everything to my curious-about-everything husband. He also gave advice on owner upkeep and what products to use and not use. His pricing is fair and will be calling him when we decide to change our door. James is intelligent, personable and easy to talk to:) I would recommend him to anybody!! read more

I just wanted to give a big shout out to James at Windward Garage Doors. I tried messaging through the Yelp app but no one was able to come the same day and I need to get in and out of my garage door throughout the day. I initially texted him because I'm not a huge fan of calling lol. He got back to me immediately and told me he could be there within an hour. I was so surprised! He was very kind, professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly as a woman I felt very safe around him. He educated me on the life-cycle of a spring and with his app he showed me how many cycles I could expect out of my garage door with the new springs that he installed. He was able to answer all of my questions and provided me with an estimate before starting any work. I would highly recommend calling James for any garage door repairs you may need in the future! James was awesome - quick to respond, super knowledgeable (even just through pictures), professional and on-time. Was heading to work when our bracket broke, called him, explained what happened, and arranged an appointment on the same day! Others I reached out to couldn't even schedule a QUOTE for a few days, let alone take the time to review pictures and understand the urgency. Talked a lot about my current set-up but wasn't trying to upsell anything or pressure us to do unnecessary changes. VERY reasonably priced. Highly suggest this team for anything garage or garage door related. read more

James responded to my inquiry on his website within a few hours and confirmed a time the very next day to troubleshoot my garage door problem. I wanted to share my experience with James at Windward Garage Doors. I received a call from James requesting whether I needed some help with my Garage Door issue. I mentioned that I thought that the one of the coils may have broke since the door was struggling and slow to open. James came to my residence within an hour and was able to complete the job within an hour. He explained to me the mechanics of a two car garage system and why we should invest in replacing both coils. He did a very professional and thorough job. He insisted on coming back next year to conduct an inspection check and lubrication of the system. We chatted for a little bit as we both are prior military and both lived in the desert Southwest of the U.S. at one point in our lives. I appreciate that he gave me a military discount as well. James gave professional and superb services. He's quick to respond and very courteous. I would definitely recommend windward garage doors. His pricing is very fair in fact I think on the lower end of what I priced around. He was ready to be out to my home in an hour. That didn't work for me and I told him I would message him again later. And the next day I did and we figured out something that worked. The quality of the job was on point. I was able to take some pictures and send it over and he told me how much it would cost. Of course when he came my pics didn't show everything and there was some adjustments but I'm very pleased with it. I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of. I thought he was very honest. He made sure that I understood everything and showed me exactly what work was done. The greatest part of it all was that I wasn't home when he initially started and he kept communicating through text/phone about everything. I would highly recommend windward garage doors to anyone and if I ever need servicing again, I wouldn't hesitate to call him back. read more
