We initially bought our garage door more than a decade ago from Western overhead doors, and they were terrific, but I couldn't remember why I stopped having them service my garage doors, and when I called them for a quote and to schedule to replace the spring system, I know why I stopped: 1) I called serveral times with no answer, and when someone did pick up, customer service was really bad. The customer service rep that answered the phone was a bit rude, and I tried to explain my problem, but she wasn't very understanding and impatient, and I felt humiliated. When I did call to cancel she sounded happy to, so my assumption is they don't care to service broken garage parts unless they can sell a door. 2) prices to replace the spring system were almost 2x the price of few other companies I called. 3) They could not schedule to fix my door until the next week, so I found another company that could replace my spring system that same week at almost half the price. read more

This company installed our garage door almost 20 years ago. The aluminum door is sturdy and is in excellent shape. However, one of the springs broke just before so we decided to replace both. Although they couldn't come out and fix it within a couple days, I was able to schedule an appointment within the week. The technician was friendly and helpful. I explained that another company wanted to replace the door, but he said the door was fine, replaced the springs, and adjusted the alignment. Our garage door wouldn't open so we called to have someone come out. While on the phone I asked about a new door (ours was over 40 years old) and the person on the phone was very knowledgeable and helpful. After Miles came out to determine what was wrong, we decided to buy a new door and he was very helpful in organizing that for us. We were able to save on labor by getting the door and the new part installed at the same time. The guys came out to install the new part and did a great job, but noticed that one of the panels of the new door was slightly damaged so they were going to come back and replace it. They came back the next week to replace the damaged panel and it was all very quick and easy. The guys that we worked with were all very friendly and helpful and we really appreciated their service. I had a guy come over to do an estimate for a garage door installation. He pulled out a 30 ft tape measure that was so used that you could barely see the numbers on it. I thought to myself, why is he using that? It should have been thrown out a long time ago. Anyway, he proceeds to try and measure my garage, and sure enough, he approaches me and asks if I had a tape measure he could use because he can't read his one. So I go upstairs to get one of mine, but it took a little while to find it. As I go back downstairs with my measuring tape, he goes back to his truck and emerged with another measuring tape. What?!? He had another tape measure all this time, so why send me upstairs to find mine? It felt like he wanted to get rid of me for a while. Why? Then I thought, did he do something to my truck? So I started looking over my truck; I'm always cleaning, polishing or wiping down my truck, I look it over once everyday. I know every inch of my truck. I bought it brand new and there were no nicks or dents of any kind. So I started in the back of my truck right where he was working and lo and behold, the are two nicks on my tailgate. The weird thing is, when I started looking he said "I never do that." I thought, do what? as at that point I had not even found the nicks yet. I then saw the nicks, and he kept saying "I never do that" for four times. To me it was confirmation that he sent me away to do what he did to my truck. I also noticed there were no dents or craters around the two nicks, so it was not done by throwing something at the truck from a distance; there were just two nicks. When I left to get my tape measure, I noticed that he was flinging his old tape measure around a lot and could hear it crackling a lot. Anyway, I called the office to make a complaint and was handed to the owner who just started laughing, I mean bursting out in laughter. I asked her why was she laughing, she gave no answer and just dismissed me. Terrible company, go somewhere else to have your garage doors installed. In closing, the sad thing is I was intending to use this company, but it is a good thing I found out in the beginning instead of the end what kind of company I was getting involved with. read more

Our Garage Door Keypad no longer worked. We tried to reset it per the instructions but did not help. We called last week & got an appointment today. We hoped Allen would show up as he had done garage door service at our home before. He knows his craft well and is great to work with. Allen came by and checked our Garage Door Opener system and found right away that the old keypad was no longer good and was not receiving any charge. BEWARE tried to sell me a new garage door $4K+ saying it could not be fixed! My carpenter assessed my door said it was just fine. H&H Overhead Doors fixed it for under $400! Now for the rest of my story if you care to read further. . .garage door some spring broke and door could not close. Called their Emergency Service night rate before a holiday paid $500. Very nice owner was able to close the garage door BUT told me our wood door is old it cannot really be repaired the office will give me quotes. Office told me only steel doors in stock a wood replacement is a special order could take up to 6 mo. Quoted over $4K and if a new garage door Genie opener then $5K+. Had our carpenter look at the garage door to try to repair it. He said there's nothing wrong with your garage door -- DON'T LET THEM SELL YOU A NEW DOOR YOU DON'T NEED. Carpenter assessed everything else said it was ok just the spring needs to be replaced? Called H&H Overhead Doors for an estimate (took over from Mark Piekelo who retired another very honest business). They called me back with my bill FIXED for $300+ much less than the $500 emergency repair service that didn't repair anything except close the door. What more do I need to say? I called on Monday to get a quote and Pono knew exactly what needed to be fixed. He was friendly and informative and had a sense of urgency. He told me the exact price over the phone, what to expect, and who was coming out to service the garage door. My garage door spring broke and while only one broke he recommended that both be replaced since they work in tandem. They're both very old anyways. Jaydie or Jaylie called me about an hour before on the day of to reconfirm and let me know that the worker would be on his way. Worker's name is Miles. Miles was friendly and informative as well. He did a quick job replacing both springs and helped me move some stuff that was in the way of his work area. The job took about 40 mins, I'd say. We'll see if the springs live up to its potential! One of our overhead coil springs broke after 40 years. I called Western and spoke to Pono. He walked me thru a process to raise the door which was not successful because I had forgotten the door was in manual mode. Pono made an appointment for the following Friday afternoon and gave me a very accurate price quote. Next Friday, Feb. 23, 2024 Ryan & Kazu arrive with all the needed materials. I had asked to go ahead and replace the entire door mechanism with new Genie controls and remotes. The guys had everything done in approx. 2 hours. I assumed Ryan was a work leader and was instructing Kazu on doing this work. Ryan also gave me a detailed outbrief of how to operate the new system. The door is now quieter than when it was originally new. Their quality of work reminded me of the teams I worked with in the Naval Shipyard for 35 years - Ryan & Kazu are Great! Moved in to a new house. Old garage door was not working from the minute we got there and the seller was kind enough not to return our realtor's calls. Oh well. Made several calls to garage door repair companies on Saturday and surprisingly none of them were open on the weekend. I found Western Overhead's website which indicated that they were open from 8:00 to 12:00 on Saturday. I called them three times between 8:00 and 8:15 with no answer. I also called their emergency number with no response. I will say that I called their emergency number later that day and spoke with a very nice lady. She was honest and indicated that it was about 50% cheaper to have someone come during normal business hours. So I left a message on their main line and received a call back promptly on Monday. Again, I spoke with a very nice lady and scheduled an appt for Tuesday. My fiance met with the repair tech on Tuesday and he fixed our garage door in an hour. He also replaced our wall door opener, replaced our two sensors, lubricated the door, tightened all the bolts, and provided two new garage door openers, all for $266. My fiance indicated that the repair tech was very personable and professional and was so happy to have a functioning garage. Although there was some issues with answering their phone on the weekend, they more than made up for it with perfect results and personable customer service (the two things that matter the most to me). beware, make sure you know what size coils are need. we called them to repair and they put a smaller cheaper one on our door 11 months later had a problem again with the door, couldn't get an appointment for 3 weeks. called another person and they came in 2 days. they asked to see my receipt for the last repair. that's when i found out about the wrong size they put on my door. New person recommended i call since it was less than a year. left a message with the office girl, she said the manager/owner would need to approve. I've been using this company since 2005 when I bought my garage door. Each time the technician was on time, courteous, patient and thorough. On Jan 10 2021, Brandon came to fix a couple hinges, replace my keypad serviced the door and fixed my emergency cord. He told me 20 minutes and he was done in 20 minutes. Contacted the company in August and spoke to Jamie to get an estimate on repair work to be done. She said the repair staff would be contacting me to schedulee a meet. I did not receive a call so I contacted them about a week later and told Jamie of the situation and now tried an email request but no response. Gave up on this company then tried again last month and spoke with Mahealani who got quite defensive when I told her of my previous contacts with no follow up calls as she proudly stated to the effect: "Well, I'm the owner and you must've called someone else by mistake!" She gave no apologies, no sense of empathy, and absolutely no sense of ALOHA! The attention to Customer Service simply does not appear to be a priority for this company which is sad as I pride myself in supporting local businesses. True to form, an appointment was made...then they canceled it...I called back to re-schedule and almost two months later no one from the company has called me back! I had my original garage door installed in 2003 and had it serviced every other year. (now its yearly) I have never had a problem with service. They have been there on time and even corrected the start of another problem. Even had Ferdie tie together my trash, recycle and green waste bins when something happened over the holidays and they couldn't get there as fast to repair it, so it would block the area where the door couldn't close and no one could get into my garage. Yearly maintenance charges are reasonable and think that helped my door last as long as it has. read more

After several service calls, which of course I was never charged for, they finally determined it was a manufacturer's defect, and they decided to replace the entire system. I had these guys install a garage door for me in 2007. The spring shaft assemply failed, after 6 years. They charged me $698 to install a new one( the "old style one"), more than half the price of a whole new door and install. The installer said "I was lucky I got 6 years out of the part, because most fail after 2 years"! And he told me that they are still installing these same spring shafts and complaining to the manufacturer. WTF! The only reason I gave the two stars was there service was good, yea there quick to stick it to you! They are making $$ replacing the poor quality parts they sold thier customers. read more

Needed a new torsion spring and belt for a raynor belt driven system. Brought in specific measurements for the garage door and pictures of the spring with brand and serial/part number. They sold me the wrong spring and upon calling my dads friend for the repair I discovered that they charged me double the actual price for both the spring and belt. I would never recommend this company to anyone as they are very unprofessional and charged way too much. I am very disappointed with this company. We also did not get any call from them. By this time it is 3:30 p.m. and we were concerned. My husband called them. Whoever answered the phone at Western Overhead said that a special part is needed and it would need to be ordered on the Mainland. I wished they had contacted us and said so! So after checking Yelp, we found out their rating is so low. We've decided to trust Yelp and go to someone else. We'll see how the second overhead door firm does. read more

This is a HORRIBLE company!!! They are so bad that I actually created a Yelp account just to write them a bad review. After dealing with these jerks for YEARS & I am finally so fed up that I will take my business elsewhere. Anywhere else. Even the mainland & pay for shipping. I'll be sure to write a review of the next place I try. For one; they NEVER answer their phone. IF they do, they promise to call you back immediately & NEVER do. Literally I have been told 3 times a day that they will call me back & they don't. Seriously. Three times a day I've called, once even for a week straight. I manage rental properties & theses guys can't even honor the multiple business accounts I've referred to them. Then, when they show up, they do a half ass job. I can't even rely on them to do what they are supposed to OR show up on time. They've even shown up, didn't see me & LEFT! Without calling, waiting 5 minutes or anything. Their work is sloppy. They don't wire things up correctly, program remotes for you & even "forget" to seal up the outdoor equipment so that it doesn't get damaged by the rain. Disappointment. Disappointment. This company apparently has went downhill after reading the reviews. I had used their services in the past BUT NO MORE !!! Our garage door light would not go on and off when the door opened and closed. We had a technician come out. He looked at the opener, said they could not get parts for it and left without doing anything. I then receive a bill from Western Overhead for over $100.00. Amazing. For doing nothing? That's a neat job. I called and explained nothing was done. The lady on the phone was not very helpful and indicated that was the going rate whether anything was done or not! WOW! The technician also said to replace the opener would be over $600.00. I went to Home Depot, received excellent service from Daniel and purchased a top of the line Genie opener AND installation for half that amount. The opener was installed by the Home Depot contractor H & H Overhead Doors from Waipahu and a great installation was accomplished by their installer Zack. The company charged $1,300 for replacing the motor, hinges, cable in August 2012. Fifteen months later (October 2013), their garage door motor no longer worked under regular use. They would not bother to fix it as it was 3 months past warranty. Most places would at least take a look and offer a reduced rate. But not Overhead Door Company - they would going to charge full price (AGAIN)! read more

Please be aware before calling Western Overhead Doors for service that this is their policy. They consider each door to be a separate appointment and will charge you accordingly, therefore for us 3 doors meant 3 X $117.95 service charge fee. When a company sends people out on a job I think it's fair enough to charge a call out fee, however this policy seems blatantly gouging! The men are here, and we were prepared to pay for the work, but I believe the call out fee covers their travel time to come to your residence, so why would they have to charge us more than once to do the job when they are here?? Furthermore if this is the case, they should specify this before they take on the job, because afterwards all the workers can say in their defense is that they are merely the messengers of the company's policy! Is this what in home service has come down to? Taking the customer for as much as you can get? If you are looking for a range of doors, etc. then Western might have it. When it comes to new installations, they are on it. Just keep in mind that should something go wrong especially if it is under warranty, then dont hold your breath. They take a long time to get around to your house let alone call you back to schedule for servicing. If you dont mind the wait and anguish since you wont be able to lock the garage door when its inoperative then Western Overhead is the company you should do business with. Good Luck. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! It doesn't pay to always go with the lowest price! My old wooden garage door finally broke down and we were in the market for a new garage door. We shopped around and decided to go with Western Overhead Doors. BAD IDEA! Problems started from the very first day of installation. The technician they sent to remove/install the doors was totally unprofessional. When he left, my garage floor was full of nuts & bolts from the old wooden door he removed. He did not even bother to clean up the mess he left behind, cardboard boxes, plastic bags, etc...Okay, so I cleaned it up! Then I noticed he wired/ran the wiring incorrectly, with the wires running on the top of my garage ceiling in a very unattractive way. Okay, so I called the company and they came by to re-wire the job. ANOTHER DAY I HAD TO TAKE OFF FROM WORK! Not 6 months later, the main gear that is attached to the motor snapped off, the door was still under warranty, so it was replaced at no charge, however ANOTHER DAY I HAD TO TAKE OFF FROM WORK. Fast forward 4 years, the door's torsion spring breaks! I call the company to replace springs, they now tell me that the door they had installed was a "new design" at that time, and that this new design incorporated the torsion springs inside the pipe that runs the full width of the door, and that they no longer install this type of torsion springs because they have been breaking a lot more frequently than the old style springs. The representative advised me that the old style springs normally lasted 5-10 years and this new springs have been lasting only 1-4 years! Okay...so now he tells me that they are converting these door springs back to the old style springs and that I would have to pay $675.00 for a conversion kit! I called other companies, but no one wanted to repair the door because they did not want to clean up someone else's mess! Great!!!!, so I ended up paying the $675 for this conversion kit and had these jokers replace the springs to finally get the door working again. Before the technician leaves, he inspects the door, and notices a couple of the rollers were damaged. He adjusts the door and replaces the damaged roller. Sprays all the hinges with lubricant and leaves. About 1 1/2 weeks later I noticed a "clicking" sound when I open or close the door, I lubricate the door and the sound goes away. Over the weekend, I take the car out of the garage to give it a wash, and notice that there are vertical creases on 5 places on the door! These vertical creases are about 3-4 inches long and are in various places on the door facing the street. I call the company and the owner of the company, Eric comes out to inspect the door. He tells me that it looks like a car hit the door and damaged it! There is NO impact damage to the door just the creases! The technician that came to install the conversion kit and new springs two week earlier was also there, and he told the owner that if the crease were there when he had installed the conversion kit, he would have noticed it! So the creases occurred in the two week time period from when he installed the new springs and when we stood at the door talking about this problem. I also told the owner that only my wife and I uses the door and both of us did not hit the door with our cars! The owner Eric, then said that someone could have used my driveway to backup and turnaround, and this person may have hit my door! Again, there is NO visible signs of an impact area on the door!!! The owner then tells me that what he can do, is that he may be able to find some panels that he could use to replace the 3 damaged panels, but I would have to help him out and pay some $$ for installation, which I reluctantly agreed to. Well that was over two months ago, I have not heard back from him since!!! DO NOT USE THIS MESSED UP COMPANY!!! read more
