I am building a brand new ground up construction of a single family residence and I was very clear on my project before setting up my appointment.I called in to set up an appointment with their sales and design team , after confirming my appointment time and place a day in advance. Chris, my sales rep never showed up the following day. I called the office only to find out they cancelled my appointment , because they do not handle windows and doors for new construction. Could have told me this way in advance ! This has wasted my whole morning , and time is the most valuable asset that no one can replace. I will let all of my friends in the industry know about their unprofessional-ism and total disregard for a customers time and needs. These guys need to get their operations in order ! read more

Window Design Group installed windows and doors at my house over 6 months ago. On the installation day, the installer pointed out several flaws in the product (which were obvious and I agreed with) and indicated that those would be immediately corrected. I have exchanged many e-mails and calls with Customer Service since then. They have always agreed that the problems would be taken care of. At this point in time, nothing has been done. I will probably call another installer of the same product and hire them to fix the several problems, including buying some replacement products. I have used many contractors for home improvement projects and have never experienced this complete lack of consideration and customer service. I suggest that if you use their service, do not pay the full price until the project is complete. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Their customer service has been horrible. I first reached out to WDG in December to get a quote for replacing my front door, two bay windows and the blinds. Just getting the correct quote in a timely manner was a challenge. I should have just walked away at that time. Move forward with the order, installation for the door is scheduled and I'm told it will take a couple of hours. When the installers showed up they tell me that the installation is a 4-5 hour job plus, the person who did the production measurement made it very tight and they are not sure if they'll need to shim down the frame to even fit the door in so we had to reschedule which took about another 2 weeks. During that time I ask a question about my bay windows and if they are going to look the the third one on that side of the house (what I originally wanted) and I hear back from the rep that he didn't quote it that way even though I specifaclly told him that the two new windows needed to match the other window. The reps comes back and tells me that it will be an additional $4,500 because of the required man power required to do the installation (they said it was going to be a 10 day install). Didn't have much of a choice since the windows had already been ordered. Call in April for a follow up and finally able to schedule installation for mid May. Crew shows up and complete their work in 4 days. Wonder why I needed to pay an additional $4,500 for the install? Four days is not 10. I ask about the blinds and I'm told they need to schedule someone to come out and take measurements. When they show up I ask to confirm that I'm getting block out blinds and they tell me that is not what is on the order but they let the company know to change it. Follow up at the begning of June and I'm told that someone will call me back because there were some notes from the MFG that were cut off. No one called. Follow up again today and nothing has been done. In fact, I get told that they see the notes from the production measurements and that it seems like I want to change from the original order. I explain that I'm not changing anything from what I originally wanted. I'm trying for the third time to confirm if what you have on the order form is what I actaully wanted. They seemed surprised that the sales repa hadn't spoken to me. I had a hard enough time getting ahold of the sales rep for my original quote let alone him calling me six months later. By far one of my worst customer experinces ever. read more

I get lot's of compliments on my shades from Window Design Group. I have them in every window in my home that has a shade on it. They were very competitive with their pricing, it didn't take too long for the shades to be produced and the installation was done in a few hours by Anthony and his team. I did have a couple of faulty shades and WDG replaced them as promptly as possible and Tanya updated me with the progress so I felt in the loop. I'll definitely use them on my next place or when I need new shades. read more

Window design group is a one stop shop! We remodeled our house and chose window design group based on their Yelp reviews. We called and made an appointment and Keith came out and took measurements and gave us recommendations based our needs and our home style. We placed our order and had them installed just about 5 weeks later. After having new Windows installed we realized we needed window coverings too, so since we ordered our windows through them, they gave us a great price for shutters and blinds. All in all we are very satisfied with quality, craftsmanship, customer service and lead time. Price wise it ended up not costing much more than if we had bought Windows through Home Depot- but Home Depot wasn't an option for us since our window measurements are non-standard. It was easy to deal with the same company for both windows and window coverings. read more

We decided to use this company for our plantation shutters based on yelp reviews and ended up signing for 2 properties. I can't comment yet for their quality because we haven't got the shutters installed yet in neither property. I am writing this review based on the customer service we've received from the company so far. I don't know how they got other compliments on customer service, but my experience has not been up to par. They said it could take 4-6 weeks to get the shutter installed (also stated in the contract). After the sixth week, we called for a status and they asked for another week. Another week passed and nothing from them. We called again and they asked for the end of the week. Still got no call after the end of the week. We called the third time and they asked for more extension and even said we were put on "priority" list. We called AGAIN after the extension they asked for and ... surprise!! They asked for another extension AGAIN. That's 4 times that we have called and we are now into the 9th week since the day we signed the contract and paid the 50% down payment (06/06/2015), or if counting from the re-measurement day (06/09/2015), it's now the 8th week. What bugs me was that the last customer service rep had the gut to lie straight to my face and told me it's just the 7th week. If they have production delay, at least have the courtesy to let customers know on the promised date, not waiting for customers to call... just to get put off again and again (even after being on so-called "priority" list). TL;DR Production delay, no follow-up, bad customer service. That to me is not professional nor responsible. I don't know how well they will do to honor the lifetime warranty that supposedly promised on their products. In all honesty, the sale rep / designer - Stephen - was professional and courteous. They have to, right? To get contracts signed. We indeed felt comfortable with Stephen to get 2 contracts signed at the same time. (That's why the 2 star review instead of 1) It all went down hill after though... Will update with product quality when the shutters are installed... hopefully not next year. UPDATE 8/7: Though I had to call in the 5th time to check the status of my orders, they did have the shutters on the way to their warehouse. The customer service rep also went out of her way and made arrangement to pre-schedule for installation. Normally they don't schedule for installation until after the products actually arrive at their warehouse, but I guess they are trying to make up for the production delay. We had gone to several places in the Simi Valley area and found that most of the businesses had mediocre prices for the quality of shutters they offered. When we finally found Windows Design Group, we were immediately impressed, not only with the service provided, but the quality of the shutters offered, and over all feel for the company. During the fires last week this company was supposed to have come out and given me a bid on my property to put Windows and bi-fold doors into my house in Stevenson Ranch. They were not able to make it due to unforeseen circumstances and I was still upset that I didn't get my bid done by the time my architect needed it. I originally gave them a bad review on Yelp but that was In the Heat of the Moment and since then I have talked with them they were very professional very courteous offered me a huge discount but more importantly they apologized for the inconvenience. I priced several companies for window shutters. I had picked another company and Window Design Group was my last quote. Stephen came to my house, was professional, patient and answered all questions. Measurements were taken and a few days later I received a quote. They were slightly higher but they offer different and new technology that other companies do not have so the little extra in price is well worth it. If they do not have your order ready in six weeks you get $25 off for per day. They were two days late and took $50 off with no hassles. The day of install went well for the most part. 15 shutters were ordered but the installer only had 14. So the installer had to come back another day to complete the job. A little annoying but overall can't complain that much. Again, after calling several companies for window shutters I was VERY HAPPY to chose Window Design Group. I highly recommend this company if you are looking to purchase window shutters. read more

Vincent the installer and his team were extraordinary! A two day job had been compressed into one day because of rain. They came promptly at the early end of their scheduled time and worked until the window and patio door were installed. They were professional and very skilled at their task. They cleaned up completely and made sure we had a walk through of the project even though it was after dark at the end of a long day, and they had a long Friday night commute ahead. This company talks a good game, however when its comes to customer service they could care less about the customer. I had a sliding door installed. I asked the salesperson if they would fix the stucco if it was damage during the installation. He told me we would not know our door was replaced. The stucco was damage, however company would not take care of it. They want their money up front, you have no leverage with them. As long as they make their sale, the salesperson could care less. read more

Very dissatisfied, I placed a order in November 2021 for block out shades. The project was for $1,600 fully paid. When the shades were installed and pulled down, they wouldn't go back up. When reported to Window Design, they replaced only one shade and the shades did not keep out the light from outside. I don't know why they call them block out. When I asked for a refund I was told my warranty was replacement only and I couldn't get a refund. This was a very bad customer experience! read more

We bought a house. We bought an old house. And, while the old house was perfectly fine, it needed some updates. After interviewing numerous (count them, 6) different contractors we had all but given up hope on finding someone reliable, honest, and fair to do the work we desperately need and wanted done. I hope to ward off anyone else who might be wasting their time considering this group for shutters or blinds. Four months ago I ordered 8 shutters and 2 vertical blinds. The company accepted 50% down and (I thought) 50% at install. Two months later they charged me the other 50% prior to install, which was difficult to get scheduled. The installer arrived without a partner to assist and forgot some necessary tools, so the install was not for another 2 weeks. It is now 4 months out and I am still dealing with them. The vertical blinds were to replace the ones I already had in my kitchen, with no change in length, etc. unbeknownst to me, the salesman added 3" or 4" to the length. They are saying I had signed off on them and there is no recourse. Never was I told I had to measure the vertical blinds myself. Also, they would speak to me on the phone and when they promised to call, they never did. LOUSY customer service. read more

I want to post an update about my horrible experience with Window Design Group. It's been a few weeks since I've posted this review they've contacted me and three weeks later they sent someone with one screen. The window needed two screens and now weeks later they just sent one of their employees with three beat up screens that were not the correct size. I continue to be very disappointed that nobody has taken the time to see the size of the window and to actually deliver the correct screen. Wow I am really amazed about the lack of customer service. We got windows from this company and unfortunately we paid the full amount per their request and six months later we're still missing one of the screens for one of our windows. I've spoken to the manager there Tonia multiple times she stated that the warehouse manager doesn't return her calls. Marissa also has stated multiple times that they're going to ship me the screen and they never send it. They told me they sent it twice but I've never got an address where they sent it to or a confirmation number. Awful awful awful customer service. Take your business elsewhere if you can. They constantly lie about the progress of the order. I've asked to speak to the owner and they state that nobody else can talk to me. Terrible company to deal with read more

I took a handful of bids for my project which included shutters for 7 windows and rolling shades for two sliders. While shutter products did not seems to vary greatly from company to company, pricing of bids and quality of salesmanship varied quite a bit. In the end, I was most impressed by WDG's salesperson Stephen S. and the quality of both the company's product and very competitive price. I was a little concerned before installation because of some delay caused by the holidays and some sort of machine failure (see other reviews for similar tales of woe), but in the end the product was delivered and installed in a timely fashion. Installation was a breeze -- right on time, professionally done, in and out. The shutters look great, too! We got the 50/50 split with hidden tilt on all 7 windows. They look and operate beautifully. THANKS TO CABRAL INSTALLATION, a small windows installation team out of Moorpark, CA. The rolling shades look great, but they are more see-through than we had hoped. The swatch held up to a window is a far cry from the whole shade being up. During the night you can see in and during the day you can see out (not so bad, kinda nice actually). We now are discussing cost-effective ways of working with WDG and their factory to get us new rolling shades in our master bedroom. I am hoping that goes well... Overall, despite the terrible reviews I have seen on Yelp and Google, we are very pleased with WDG. read more
