Rebranded as "The London". Decent food, decent prices. Friendly service. Pleasantly surprised by the menu variety. Lisenced.

A quaint spot on the drive that serves flaky, crispy battered fish and chips. My whole family got the two piece cod which comes with chips, creamy coleslaw and tartar sauce. The only this I didn't care for was the tartar because it had purple onions. What makes this place a gem was the lady serving us. She is super friendly and genuinely cares for her customers. Thank you

Had a hankering for fish and chips and wanted to dine in vs. pick up at my other favourite fins and chips place while in Vancouver. Read a few reviews that were mostly favourable for this place on Commercial Drive and when I got there it was shortly after noon and too my surprise it was still closed. The person inside noticed me outside and gestured for me to wait and several minutes later she opened the front door to let me in. She explained with Covid their operating hrs were approximate, so I would call in advance to ensure they are open if you decide to try them out I basically had the place to my own the whole time I was there so no issues with social distancing while dining, I order the two piece cod and it came with a generous portion of fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce. The cod was lightly battered and the cod tasted fresh as well as the coleslaw. The price was decent for the potions that were served, service was attentive and I will come back. Parking I suspect could be hard to find on the weekends as it is a busy street and area, there is free street parking about two or three blocks away if you look for it . When I was ready for the bill I might have scared the server when I got her attention because I was the only one in there at the time and her attention might have been somewhere else at the time lol

    3 piece cod

Fantastic fish & chips, the batter is so crunchy. Their grilled chicken burger is very good as well. The environment is very pleasant and the staff are incredibly nice and welcoming, which is very refreshing compared to some of the newer (and ruder) restaurants around it. One of the last stores in this neighbourhood that hasn't been bought out, gentrified and yuppified. I hope everybody who reads this review decides to order from here at least once, because businesses like these that support the community (amazing prices) should be supported back. Thanks to the super nice ladies who work there for feeding me since a child (10 years+) and for showing my friends, family and me great hospitality.

    Menu #1

Halibut fish and chips was excellent. They also were very willing to sub in grilled halibut instead of battered and sub a salad instead of chips. All was delicious including the coleslaw. The fish was very juicy. Unfortunately the chowder wasn't at all liked by my friend. Highly recommend the fish dishes for sure! Note prices now higher than previous posts - see menus

The fish and chips are certainly tasty, but I come to Windjammer for the fried clam strips. Freakin' delicious!

Once my order was completed I found a seat and started to eat. The seating area is limited and if various options, a couple tables here and there and a counter by the window. The fish was crispy and nicely battered and chips were decent. Fish size was again decent i wouldn't say the largest nor small but regular in size to decent fish and chip places. Overall nice, I think strong decent fish and chip place but imo overhyped. It's not bad but nothing mind

I ordered an Oyster Po Boy, fries and a drink which came to total of $27.10. It was messy to eat Po Boy, but that wasn't an issue. Baguette was so crunchy on the outside it was perfect! There was some arugula, kimchi and 3 pcs of oysters in it. I also ordered fries it was huge! Fries were bit salty and overcooked I tossed it out in the end. I left my water and soda to drink them later after heading to washroom. Staff cleared my water and soda away. I still had half of soda in it. I felt thirsty after eating my food in the end. It'd have been nice if she asked me first before clearing dishes. I don't think I'll go back.

Don't get me wrong, I know that soft openings are there to work out the kinks of a new business/restaurant and from what I experienced, they've learned a lot since the last time I was there. They renovated a bit on the inside, give the old seating area a much needed face lift. They have actual dishes and not take out containers to eat off of. As well as touch screen ordering machine, if you're in a rush or if the counter is too busy. They've expanded their menu, including, other deep fried items like cuttlefish balls and popcorn chicken. They've also added a Value Combo set if you're looking for variety or if you have a large group with you. Here's what we ordered: Family Pack $49.99 C2- Popcorn Chicken with XLB combo $17.99 N6- Braised Sliced Beef Noodle Soup $9.99 N4 Dan Dan Noodle $8.99 The fish and chips were crispy and not too greasy, a favourite for sure. If you know you're party is going to be eating more then 2 pieces of fish then its worth getting the Family Pack. Leftovers heat up great in the air-fryer. The Popcorn Chicken and XLB made an awesome meal, and great for sharing. The noodles had some good flavour and a nice chew. For the price it's pretty reasonable for Metro-Vancouver now a days. They do have a water-station set up, unfortunately they don't have any hot water available. And its still bus your own dishes. The fish n'chip alone is a good enough reason to go to Noople. But if you have picky eaters at least there are some other great options for everyone.

The wontons were also well seasoned and fragrant in the chilli sauce. The beef noodle soup, however, wasn't so good. The beef was tough and had a red band in the exterior and grey in the center. We think it may be due to improper thawing or freezing. The ambiance was very average. It's basically a lunch room where you ordered at the front and got your utensil and sat down at any available table. So needless to say there was very little service from the workers. Not necessarily bad, just a different style of restaurant. Overall the value is great, if you're looking for a cheap fill up with authentic flavours I would hit this place up. Each dish is very reasonably priced and pretty delicious (except for our beef).

I thought it was a burger place befoer looking at the menu. They do fish & chips, salads, wraps, burgers, burritos, fried chicken, and fries. This is pretty impressive I must say. Special mention. I just stood there and stared. The menu boards inside the restaurant run the entire length of the counter. Staff are friendly, though the ordering is quite slow. As Andrew M mentioned, the layout is indeed quite inefficient. There are only 4 small tables (8 seats total) for the entire place, along a wall. The rest of it is one giant kitchen. Best to do takeout to be honest. The fish and chips were pretty decent, but quite pricy. Not great value. Fries were honestly quite mediocre. I'd stick to the cheaper items such as wraps or burgers. Wouldn't mind coming back to try some of the other stuff at some point.

They're the best & extremely expensive. Chef knows his hold temps too! See pics. OMG I saw someone order falafel plate and they got huge, made to order falafel!!! My next visit is this!!! 2) Clean: The whole restaurant was clean (minus the table behind us who left). Nice open kitchen so you can see everything. I don't know if chef will kill me, but he offered us the staff-only handwashing station bc we came in filthy after a day of gardening. I don't know if this is offered to every guest. But people need clean hands & a toilet. This is why you won't get above 4* 3) Food: Chef offered me if I didn't love his recommendation, he would pay double. I ate 1 bite and told him to keep his $$. He offered me the Crunchy Chicken Wrap. It's SOOOO loaded w chicken & huge, made 2 meals for me. But next time I really want spicy chicken, or Angry fish. 4) Place: I give the place 3.5 stars...only bc there's only 8 seats (very busy), and no toilet. I was happy chef let us wash our hands but I think this was a one off. People need a place to wash their hands, despite staff only areas. Also people like to go to the bathroom when they're dining in. 5) Parking: you can park out back: they share space w Beefway, or park along Kingsway off hours. Chef was so communicative & generous in my order. My friend got the double burger, and we shared chili fries. Everything was top tier, even the chili fries. Just not chilli: just spiced beef crumble. But to all the fries haters who posted: you are SOOO off! These were twice fried fries (crispy outside, soft inside), plus the spicy dust is amazing! Edit: Downlow fries have better dust. Also...good sign: we came in about 10:15pm...they close midnight. They were packed with in-house diners, delivery drivers, and their own website delivery. You know a place is good when the stoner-hour is blowing up their delivery!
