We have a home warranty, and they were the ones who came to fix our garbage disposal problem, which they did but now we have a leak in our crawl space, and they kept cancelling coming out here to look at it saying we are not in their area. Not sure how one we week we are and the next we aren't not like the house moved anywhere. Apparently based on reviews not the first person they have done this to. Haven't been able to properly use water for over a week now and with a family member with cancer that's not good. If you're looking for someone reliable that you know will come out when you need them, I wouldn't count on these guys. read more

Windbender installed a new minisplit system for us. It immediately leaked and did not work. Over the next year they were out repeatedly to "fix" the system but it continued to leak and stop working. They were unable to repair it after multiple visits. After one year, they said it wasn't their problem anymore and would start charging us to repair it. When they came out the last time they said there was no leak. "What is wrong then, I asked. "It's out of refrigerant." "But there's no leak I asked?" "Yes, he said, no leak." They then said that if we wanted then to find the leak (that supposedly didn't exist) it would cost us $2800 + $220 for the drive. This is a new system ($12,000) still under factory warranty. The new owner of Windbender said he would not be responsible for anything he did not install. He offered to sell us an entirely new system. The new owner refuses to even look at or work on this system that his company, Windbender, could not install properly or repair. So we have a new system that has never worked correctly, does not work now, and the company that installed it refuses to repair or replace it under its warranty. This company is dishonest, unethical, and they will not do the right thing if they can wiggle out of it. read more

Our AC went out on one of the hottest days of the summer. Our home warranty company sent out Wind Bender for a diagnostic check and it just happened to be our control board. Bob was our technician and he was awesome. We explained that my husband has asthma and really needs the AC. Bob made sure he was able to get it as soon as possible. Thanks Bob!! They lied to us and told us that the seepage in the basement was an old problem and not related to the stoppage. They pulled a finger full of hair out of the drain and called it done even though I told them it took several minutes to show a backup. They left after telling us that if and when we had another problem we could call again under the warranty. When the water backed up the very next shower we called them and they refused to come back, claiming we were actually outside their service area. The next company we called, Sewer Quest of Columbus, immediately diagnosed the problem and fixed it properly. The service men were very nice but didn't want to do the job and simply accepted the home warranty fee and left. read more

We had a sewer line blockage that caused water to back up into our tub and shower. Communication was swift and timely and very reliable. The plumber that provided the service was Mike. He was very friendly and helping us to understand the procedure and made sure all of our questions and concerns were answered. We highly recommend this company and are extremely satisfied with their service and personnel. Greg was the person at the office we dealt with. He was very courteous and expedited our service call. When Wind Bender called to set the appointment I was "up sold" on a "comfort plan" at $20 a month for a one year contract advising that all of my plumbing throughout the house would be checked and that I would be advised if there are any other concerns. Mike from Wind Bender came out and inspected my water softener and stated I needed a replacement. Mike advised that I currently had a 35,000 grain softener unit but that he would submit to 2-10 Home Warranty that I have a 45,000 grain unit because he stated they would only replace the same size unit and he felt my home size called for a bigger unit. Because of this submission the claim was approved but I was advised I had a $900.00 out of pocket expense seeing the quote was way above the $1,000 that is allotted for a water softener (seeing he submitted the request for a larger unit) which of course 2-10 was not privy to. I was advised I had two choices, I could pay the $900 difference or they would mail me a check for $900, which really put me in an unfortunate situation seeing they do not pay for "2nd opinions" and I had no option to have another company come out and bid the right size so I could get it fully covered. Also during his visit he checked the plumbing leak in the ceiling on the 2nd floor and the faulty garbage disposal. I was advised the plumbing leak in the ceiling was a simple fix for $290.63 and that he could knock that out right then and that I needed a new garbage disposal and quoted me $417.58. I reminded him I had a home warranty. He stated I would need to submit these issues through the home warranty like I did the softener and ask 2-10 for them to be dispatched. I went ahead and followed those instructions and 2-10 dispatched Wind Benders to come out and assess the faulty garbage disposal and leak in the lower level ceiling. Mike came out a second time but this time he changed how he worded both issues to his employer Wind Bender and as a result they mis worded it to 2-10. Somehow 2-10 was under the impression that the leak in the downstairs ceiling was as a result of a prior technician's faulty work and they denied it, meanwhile on the original quote from Mike (before he knew I was going to submit to my home warranty) it does not say that at all!!! Mike also changed the wording for the garbage disposal when it was submitted for approval and it was denied too!! Turns out Mike was trying to put a different style garbage disposal in documenting that the model I have is discontinued so within his quote he asked for $300 in modifications on top of the price of a new disposal which 2-10 does not cover!!! It is a GE model number Continuous Feed Garbage Disposer (1/2 HP), Part# GFC520F replaced by GE. The new Part, #GFC520N (also manufactured by GE). I did not need any modifications! To think I have $3,000 in coverage for appliances as well as up to $3,000 in sealed plumbing issues and $1,000 for water softener coverage yet Wind Bender managed to try to extort me for "additional charges" above their plan coverage for their own personal gain. Wind Bender started sending me multiple invoices for work that has not even been done which felt like extortion. And here I sit with leaking plumbing and a broken garbage disposal due to the negligence of Wind Bender. I believe Wind Bender falsifies quotes in order to get partial approvals from the home warranty to warrant "up charging" so that they can get maximum reimbursement for needed repairs (reimbursement from home warranty company and additional reimbursement from customer). They have found an "under the radar" way to do this. And they must be stopped before any other consumer is hurt by this type of extortion. Shame on Wind Bender, the upside to being an "in network" provider for a home warranty company is volume not necessarily high tickets. Wind Bender has decided they want as much money as they can squeeze out of every dispatch no matter how unethical it is. read more

I paid American Home Shield Warranty company $500 for a one year warranty on my condo that I purchased last Oct. 2017 This company was recommended to us through my realtor MARK A. VILAS of COLDWELL BANKER WEST SHELL My air conditioner has broke down twice so far. I spent $260 in May to have it repaired using this warranty which may have covered $20 for Freon? It broke down again July 24th and have been in the process with this warranty company to get it fixed. AHS sent out "Wind Bender Heating and Air" who said the cause of the problem was the copper lines coming from the Condo? A worker from the Warranty Company, (Shannon) agreed with us that that diagnoses could not possibly be correct. So Shannon agreed to have a second opinion company come out. On Aug. 2, Air Max Heating and Cooling (614) 795-8761 came out and gave the diagnosis that the compressor is out. Something the warranty should cover. Air Max told us they had to send the diagnosis to AHS. That was Aug. 2 and today is Aug. 15. We have called Air Max and talked with Amy and Trish and both have told us they will send this out through a smart form. I continue to stay on the phone for hours with Home Shield speaking with Shannon, Katrina, Doug, Whitney (who promised she would follow up on this two days ago) and right now I am on hold with Home Shield waiting on a supervisor. Lomesha was not able to assist me with help in getting the diagnosis from Air Max. She tried to call the Air Max company herself and was on the line for 15 mins with no answer. We live in Cincinnati, Oh and Air Max is in Columbus Ohio two hours a way. With neither companies willing to help me I don't know what to do at this point? I have been staying at my fiance house for the past 3 weeks due to the Condo is too hot. I am a retired Cincinnati Firefighter and a Veteran of the Navy. I have served the public all my life. I really do not deserve this kind of treatment and neither does any other hard working American. How can companies get away with this? I have now been on hold with American Home Shield for 1 hr and 25 mins when the phone line disconnected me from their side. Called back and Kristina answered. I asked her for correct spelling of her name and the call disconnected again. Recalled at 2:43 PM Aug. 15. 2:43 Now Shabrika, GA office, has me on hold again as she is trying to work with Air Max and her companies management. 3:41 PM Still on the line. 4:00 On hold with Brandon of AHS: said that a report has now been filed by AirMax that this problem is due to normal wear and tear and is covered. This company was chosen by our home warranty company to replace our sump pump. Their scheduling is not flexible at all for anyone with a day job. They replaced the sump pump, however, they left it in a lesser condition than they found it. When contacting and asking them to correct the issue, they were difficult to work with and wanted us to pay an additional charge for them to complete their work - including a "trip fee". We would not use them again. read more

Plumber, William, came out on the 16th to look at a leak in the first floor bathroom ceiling. The second floor bathroom is directly above this. Plumber cut a hole in the ceiling and stated that the leak was coming from second floor vanity drain pipe. He stated the leak started somewhere in the second floor, dripped onto the supply line, which dripped through the floor and onto the first floor ceiling. He stated that the leak would stop if we did not use the vanity and so he could type up his report for insurance. He also stated that the second floor vanity would have to be removed so he could finish the fix. We did not use the second floor bathroom for three days and the leak continued. I then tested all utilities in the second floor bathroom and cut a larger hole in the first floor ceiling to get a good view. It was clear that nothing from the second floor was leaking and the 90 degree fitting from the supply line was actually leaking. The fitting was about 7 inches below the second floor and nothing above that was wet. I contacted the wind bender and the receptionist kept telling me what the plumber wrote in his report. She insisted that the vanity must be moved and then give them a call back. My wife called the next day and spoke to another receptionist who kept saying what the plumbers report said, even after we explained what the cause was. The receptionist called William and he stated again that the leak was coming from the second floor. The receptionist finally stated that she would contact the 'Master Plumber' and talk to him about it and give us a call back. After not hearing from WindBender for over 24 hours, i called back and spoke with the receptionist who told me that she did speak with 'Master Plumber' and he stated that he would come out and take a second look at the leak. She stated that if William was wrong in his diagnosis, the service fee would be free; but, if i was wrong, then I would have to pay the $65 service fee. Master Plumber came out and determined that I was right and the second floor bathroom did not need to be touched. He stated that he would have to order the part (which a 90 degree fitting is $1 at Home Depot) and fix the report for insurance. He then stated that they would contact us to make an appointment to fix the leak. That was exactly one week ago and still no word from them. All phone conversations and contact with employees were recorded via audio and video and posted on several sites. Would not recommend them. read more

We purchased a 6 ton geothermal heating system and a 20kW whole house backup generator. Before the work started, we were told it would take 3 to 5 days; the HVAC was installed in that time, but took about 6 months for them to work out the kinks. 16 months to get the permit for the whole house generator and still having issues. They destroyed ceiling tiles and blew several pieces of electronics while working on the projects and I hired a duct work company to fix all of the shoddy connection jobs they did. Their district manager came to my house to apologize for their poor performance. They even offered an additional system at-cost to make up for it. I paid another company over $1,000 more than what I would have paid Windbender just to not have them come to my house anymore. Don't walk away, RUN!! read more
