There was…read more1-2" of water that had flooded our basement, and with 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law on 2/5/22 most of the water had been extracted. 2 men from Stanley Steemer came at 12:00 noon and gave me a quote of between $600-$1,200 Later the estimator came and the quote turned out to be $1,124.66 plus tax. While I was signing about a dozen disclaimers (they must get sued a lot), I asked if they were going to spray the concrete prior to laying a new pad. The estimator said yes. While signing disclaimers, he also told me that he was waiting for another employee to come from north Dayton with plastic bags for the wet padding. After extracting water and cutting up the padding, do you think they would have put the wet padding into plastic bags and then carried them to their van? No!! They carried the sopping wet carpet in their arms dripping water up the basement stairs, through my kitchen and through my garage. Then they put the wet padding in bags so their van wouldn't get wet. While this transpired, the connection they made in my laundry room leaked a few gallons of water which took me a whole roll of Bounty to clean up. When I was asked for a final signature, I asked when they were coming back to install the new padding. They laughed and said they were not a restoration company but a remedial company. Unfortunately for them, an ad they sent my wife the next morning says they are a restoration company. I received a copy of an invoice, but had to call later that day for a copy of the estimate. When I got the estimate, I noticed that they had charged me for 625 square feet of water extraction (the carpet is 24'X24' 9" which is 594 square feet). They also charged me for 625 square feet tearing out and bagging wet padding (same 594 square feet). They also charged me 3 hours for blocking and padding furniture when they worked (according to the estimate) 1hour and 50 minutes. When they left, I surveyed the carpet and noticed that they had separated about 12' of the seamed carpet, leaving the other 12' 9" intact. Also, prior to shampooing the carpet, I extracted 4 gallons of water with a residential Hoover model 50150. So much for their high powered vacuum. For information, I was babysitting my 2 young grandchildren and could not watch every procedure they performed. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DECEITFUL AND DISREPUTABLE COMPANY.
