This is my first time experimenting with cat-eye, and I am impressed with how nice they make my old hands look. I do dip powder, because it's healthier for the nail, and it's strong enough to last a whole month-in spite of all the gardening and other things I put it through. Their prices make it affordable for me to maintain this habit. But the atmosphere is so casual, relaxed, and humble. All the technicians there are great, but I have been consistently happy with the shape Sophia does on my nails. They have surprisingly good nail products too! Like, they have OPI dip-powder, which I have always used because of its long-lasting capability. If it's time for you to get your nails done, this place I highly recommend.

They automatically started giving me a gel pedicure just because that's what I had on previously. I was really annoyed by this: I wanted to be able to take off the polish after a few days. The manicure was fine. The basic one is cheap so I wasn't expecting much. The gel pedicure was more expensive and the overall polish at the end was a bit thick and didn't look that great. Overall you get what you pay for. This is a cheaper salon but it is cheaper quality.

What I appreciate most is how transparent they are about pricing they always make sure you know if there are any extra charges before starting a service. Today, though, I witnessed something that really stood out and I was actually sitting right next to the customer the entire time. A girl came in and started complaining about the cost after her nails had already been started. From the beginning, her tone felt rude and dismissive. When the manager came over to help, she tried to calmly explain the pricing, but the customer kept interrupting and responding with a passive-aggressive attitude. At one point, she even told the manager to lower her voice in a disrespectful way, despite the manager remaining professional the entire time. To make things more uncomfortable, her boyfriend started adding his opinion, even though he had nothing to do with the service. Instead of helping de-escalate the situation, he made it worse by defending his girlfriend, even though she was clearly in the wrong. It would have been more appropriate to let the customer and the person in charge handle the situation directly. Another manager stepped in and patiently pulled up her past transactions to clearly show what had been charged before. They explained that sometimes removal fees are waived, but it's never guaranteed and they always communicate that upfront, which is something I've personally experienced and appreciated. Even after being shown proof, the customer continued to be upset and dismissive, saying things like, "Whatever, just finish my nails. I'll pay, but I'm never coming back." After all that I understand why staff didn't want to service her anymore. She left the place with nails on and she still didn't pay. The staff handled everything with patience and professionalism, even when faced with unnecessary rudeness.

We got rainbow colored nails, but nobody bothered to tell me that it was going to be an up-charge for using different colored nail polish, the only way I fired out the extra charge is by looking at my receipt. I want the business to be upfront with me when that's necessary. They have lost my trust and I am NEVER stepping my foot in this business again. What a shame .

I was immediately seated for my pedicure, and asked if I wanted water. I can't recall any nail place offering me a beverage, ever, so that was a plus! Mimi did my pedicure, and Annie, my gel mani. Both gals took their time, did not rush services, and did a pretty decent cleanup/polish job. I was on the fence about dipped polish. I have ever done dipped, so I had some questions. Annie took the time to explain the pros/cons to dipping versus gel. I went with the familiar gel, and she recommended a layer of "reinforcement" to protect the nail? I shall see what that looks like when I go in for the gel removal... Ohana, is a cute little shop tucked perfectly at the end of the busy strip mall off Sterns. Parking was a breeze, and it was easy getting in and out of the lot. The shop was clean, and inviting. The one downside was the price. It was a bit pricy for everything. That's why I give Ohana Nails 4 stars and not 5. I spent about $20 dollars more than I usually would have at my usual spot. It's been almost 2 weeks and everything is holding solid. I'd give them another shot. Maybe the extra money is worth it?
