I remember passing by Bunchberry Diner a few months back. I had never been there. It was time to check it out. This diner used to be Mercury Diner. It's nice that the diner tradition continues here. There was plenty of parking when I got here at 3 pm. I backed into a parking spot and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a female staffer. She asked if I was picking up takeout. Nope, I wanted the dine-in experience. She led me to a booth, which was comfortable. There were so many items on the menu that I wanted to try. This place serves breakfast till 4 pm. My server was Parmida, who was sweet and competent. I ordered these items: - Chef's morning breakfast - Diet Coke The Diet Coke was fizzy and cold. I got drink refills. It was perfect. For the chef's morning breakfast, I got my eggs over-easy. I chose sausage links and whole wheat toast. It came with home fries. I got peanut butter, jelly, and jam in preparation for my meal. It didn't take long for my food to arrive. The weird thing was that this table did not have any ketchup, but all tables around me had a bottle. I had to wait a bit for Parmida to return, so I could ask for ketchup. She apologized. She told me that she normally doesn't work this side of the diner. She immediately went to fetch a bottle of French's ketchup. Yep, this diner supports Canadian. I loved my over-easy eggs. I got three perfectly runny eggs. I smeared raspberry jam on my toast and sopped up the yolky goodness with it. I got three sausage links. They were yummy. I liked having them with ketchup. The home fries were the perfect portion. They were crispy and delicious, especially with ketchup. Prices are decent here for the portions that you get. My meal was $20 after taxes. You have the option of paying with a QR code on the bill or using the payment machine. I went with the latter and tipped with my credit card. I used the washroom before I left. It's on the right side of the eatery when you walk in. It was clean. No issues. I saw the dessert display before I left. This section was closed for dining. The desserts on plates rotated in this display. It was cool to see. It was great dining here. I'm return for more good eats. (252)

It was pretty busy . I ordered western omelette sandwich which was really tasty. It didn't feel dry enjoyed it . The coffee felt a bit light. The strength was missing . Will go again fr sure . We came on a very cold winter day and the upper floor (main dining area) was noticably warmer. We were seated right away without a reservation. Our server was very upbeat, friendly, and accommodating to some of our customization requests (e.g. certain salad ingredients and dressing on the side, substitute shrimps with extra scallops, etc.). Food came out relatively quick (there were only 1-2 other occupied tables when we were there). Service was excellent. The music playing in the background was a combination of hip-hop, R&B, and jazz. The dining room had a casual and relaxed ambiance, with a somewhat dark lighting and fake candle on every table. We got the Seafood Platter for 2, but there was enough food for 4-5 people. It came with 2 big pieces of salmon, a whole "market fish catch of the day" (not sure what fish it was, but it tasted like swordfish and was very tasty), 2 lobster tails, crab legs, baby octopus, squid / calamari, scallops, shrimps (which we opted to change for extra scallops), and some microgreens on top for garnish. We could choose to have the seafood grilled, fried, or a mix of both - we chose the grilled option. All of the seafood came on a long wooden board, with lots of butter at the bottom (I wish they didn't put any / so much butter!). The Seafood Platter came with a side of grilled vegetables (rapini, asparagus, carrot) and baby potatoes. We added on an extra plate of the grilled vegetables and potatoes, as well as Arugula Salad. The variety of the seafood in the Seafood Platter was excellent. They were very generous with portion size. Everything was really tasty and I loved the charred grill mark, especially on the scallops. They pre-cracked the crab legs and lobster tails, making it easier to eat. The crab and baby octopus came as a surprise (to our delight!), because the menu didn't say that the platter would come with those 2 types of seafood. The "market fish catch of the day" came as a whole fish and de-boned (just the filet and skin). I liked this more than the salmon, which was cooked well done. This restaurant lives up to its name - excellent place for seafood.

It was by far the worst restaurant Ive been to in 10 years. We went for their mothers day brunch,…read moreand we thought that we could order from the main menu but it was not available (ok fine...) so we were forced to order their $55 prix fixe menu that was totally not worth it for the most completely underwhelming meal ive ever had. I started with the yogurt parfait, it was like 5 small scoops of warm yogurt with a sprinkle of granola and maybe 3/4 of a strawberry with 4 blueberries. After getting that I knew the steak and eggs I ordered was not going to be great. As expected, the steak was for sure sous vide before slapping it on the grill given that it was mushy in texture and when I asked the waitress before ordering if she could cook mine more rare she told me that the chefs make all the steaks at medium (that shouldve been a red flag that she didnt ask how she would like my steak cooked). It came with unseasoned home fries and 2 pieces of the driest toast with no butter? We asked our waitress for some condiments and butter and she completely forgot and we had to ask her a few times before she came back with just butter (we scoured the restaurant for some ketchup). The sunny side eggs that came with it was mediocre, but how can you mess up eggs, right? The dessert I ordered the creme brulee which was the best part of the meal (which isnt saying much). My brother also ordered the creme brulee but his tasted completely different... this already tells me how inconsistent the kitchen and staff are. The whole meal costed us $455 and this included the autograt of 20%. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This was for 6 mothers day brunch meals and a kids pasta. The service was non existent and the food was absolute trash. My 9 year old niece couldve made a better meal with her eyes closed. With $455 we couldve had a lobster dinner for a family of 6. There really is no difference of getting robbed for real and eating at this place, you both lose money and get absolutely nothing out of it.

We came on a Sunday for brunch and I guess this is when they are the busiest, because even though we arrived at 10:30am it still took us 30 minutes of waiting for get a seat for 2. We were greeted by a server, but then she sort of just disappeared that we had to get somebody else to come look for her so she'd take our orders. I ordered the Egg Benedict on English muffin and the portion was great. Really large serving and super delicious eggs with loads of veggies arranged perfectly for photo taking...though it still took them like 20 minutes to serve the food. When it came to getting the bill it was hell trying to look for our server again. Btw she didn't come check on us once during our meal and it was somebody else coming over to refill our drinks. Apparently only the server assigned to our table can ring in the bill for us so it was once again more waiting for our server to show up. I'm pretty sure half of the time we spent at the restaurant was just waiting for the server and our food to come. I understand it's challenging to work during a busy time, but the manager should have known that Sunday brunch is their peak hours and they should hire more servers to fill this shift. Or, I don't know, just make it like an Asian restaurant so that you can call on any server walking by to fill your order to make it more efficient and customer friendly.
