Barta's is a huge dimly lit and dirty warehouse, chock full of treasures. He carries goat, cow, sheep, deer hides and more. You can buy them by the foot or scraps. The cow veg leather was $3.50 per foot the day I went, varying weights. Ask to have them measure the thickness if you need a certain mm. The scraps were $2.50. I bought 10 lbs for $25. The smell when you first enter is hide putrid. This ain't Tandy folks! Once you go further in the sweet heady aroma of leather wafts up. Four important tips! They only take cash or check. Bring a flashlight as it's pretty dim. Wear old clothes! There's a water hose outside you can use to wash up afterwards. Have fun in this freakin amazing leather paradise!

It is an older warehouse with bins and bins of scrap leather as well as many, many beautiful large pieces from a variety of animals. I also gave them a new loop (taken off another purse) to replace it with. They told me to come back in 2 days. I did. After looking everywhere for it it had not been fixed. Come back in 2 more days. I did. Purse still not fixed. They're apologizing profusely and PROMISING to get it done later that day. Come back tomorrow. I did. It still had not been touched. I say this is getting a bit ridiculous, they are soooo sorry. They swear it will be done. Come back again. I did (you guessed it...never touched). This happened 7 times. We are talking replacing 1 loop. The 7th time they tell me they'll fix it now. Come back in a little while. I did...and this is what they gave me (see photos). They did use the new loop I gave them...and somehow they actually RIPPED IT, TOO!!! I stood there, mouth agape in disbelief as he tried to convince me that "the new strap will hold just fine" (as he's yanking on the new loop now making the rip even larger). I tell him this just won't do. He finds another piece of leather to make a new-new loop and tells me to come back tomorrow. Now exhausted...I did. Still nothing had been done. As he was again apologizing saying to come back again I took the purse and told him I really did not want them to have it yet another time...and that I would not be coming back. I'm sorry I gave them so many chances. I won't be giving them any more. Do yourself, and Marelli Brothers, a favor...take your business somewhere else.

Our experience by and large has been pleasant, so was it this time till the last few minutes, during having our bill processed. The lady (I suppose was the store manager or accountant). She first invited my husband to the billing machine to have his membership details and once her colleague was finished taking the details, the store manager/accountant suddenly in a terse tone asked him to wait for the collection behind the counter. Really ? Who asked her to ask him to come there ? We as always were gracefully waiting at the counter for the payment with a touch less card and the merchandise pick up. The same details could have been shared right from that place. I strongly recommend the store management to look into this behaviour and apprise.
