Amazing quality! Will definitely be a regular customer with other items! Wish they would open a store back up in Maryland!

The staff was super helpful, great selection, good "sale" prices but I hate most of the coats are made in China.

"Better than new"…read more I had a fantastic experience with Luggage & Leather Depot on the good ol' Hamden Road. I was dashing out to a meeting a week or so ago. Grabbed the trusty messenger bag con laptop, and bang! - strap broke, and everything spilled onto the floor. I collected everything, checked to see what had happened, and proceeded to be late to my meeting. When I arrived back home, the first thing I did was try to locate a leather repair shop, and the depot was at the top of the list, and less than a mile from me. I called, and the gent said that they would likely be able to fix it, so I took a walk over, and dropped off the bag. In less than 3 days, Mr. Kim called to inform me that he'd completed the repair. Again, I walked over to retrieve my Mark & Graham bag for a grand total of $38. Not only did I just save a few hundred dollars by not having to buy a new bag, but the repair was as advertised - "better than new" - with new leather, and an added metal bar for strength. I can't recommend this business highly enough. I'm looking forward to my next interaction - think I'll buy something new there next time. See you in town!

It was definitely in need of repair. Mr. Kim was able to get the repairs done in a little over a week and the repair work was so seamless that I could barely tell what had been fixed. The only telltale sign is that he added a new, stronger zipper to replace the broken one which actually made it much easier for me to open and close the interior compartment. The $45 I spent in repairs was a worthwhile investment to ensure I would have many more years of adventures to come with my fabulous ruby red suitcase!

I've been here a number of times but have yet to write a review. Over the years, there have been a…read morefew faces I have seen come and go from the shop, but this week when I went there was an older gentleman who I believe may be the owner as I have seen him in years past. I had moved a little bit out of the area, so I looked up new options around me. I called a shoe repair shop with a number of five star reviews in Chevy Chase, and I ask how much it would cost to add a Topy. This lady proceeded to berate me, saying what on earth am I talking about. I explained that the Topy was a rubber sole that would cover my existing leather sole, she said why didn't I say that then? So I went back to my old neighborhood and took the shoes to Bethesda Shoe & Luggage Repair, I asked the gentleman for a Topy and he said no problem. To me, if you don't know the major manufacturers of products in your industry (Vibram, Dainite, Topy etc.) then you shouldn't be in this line of business. Anyway, rant over - the gentleman here did a fine job with the three pairs of shoes I dropped off and instead of looking for a new place in my new area, Bethesda Shoe and Luggage Repair will retain my business. I don't think their prices are out of whack, sure you could add a rubber sole covering to your shoes yourself for less, but I prefer it done professionally and expeditiously. I have also had luggage zippers repaired here, my wife has had heels fixed here, and everything was done on time and done well. No issues.

I am surprised they have been in business for so long. They are shockingly overpriced and terribly…read morepoor service and quality.

Thank you Seleh for doing such an incredible job altering my wedding dress! Seleh completed a…read morecomplicated alteration that involved removing mesh covering most of the top half of the dress. Before undertaking the work, Seleh ran through some of the considerations, including the fact that the mesh provided structural support that he would need to compensate for around the straps. He finished the dress on time and the removed mesh looked flawless. He completed a second round of alterations after my first fitting. Then, a week or two after I took the dress home (and nine days before my wedding), I panicked about the fit of the bodice and the straps and left a slightly frantic voicemail for Seleh. To his immense credit, he called me back in ten minutes to calmly and gently ask me what was wrong and how he could fix it. He didn't make me feel crazy or unreasonable and made a quick appointment for me a couple of days later. He turned around this last round of alterations in a couple days -- a complex addition of fabric under the dress straps to reduce itchiness and some alterations to the bodice -- and the dress was perfect after that. His work on the straps was particularly impressive because the added fabric was completely invisible despite the fact that the straps were irregularly shaped, ornate, and lace. All in all, Seleh gets top marks for skill, timeliness, and emotional sensitivity (all a must when altering wedding dresses). Thank you again, Seleh!
