Thank you Seleh for doing such an incredible job altering my wedding dress! Seleh completed a complicated alteration that involved removing mesh covering most of the top half of the dress. Before undertaking the work, Seleh ran through some of the considerations, including the fact that the mesh provided structural support that he would need to compensate for around the straps. He finished the dress on time and the removed mesh looked flawless. He completed a second round of alterations after my first fitting. Then, a week or two after I took the dress home (and nine days before my wedding), I panicked about the fit of the bodice and the straps and left a slightly frantic voicemail for Seleh. To his immense credit, he called me back in ten minutes to calmly and gently ask me what was wrong and how he could fix it. He didn't make me feel crazy or unreasonable and made a quick appointment for me a couple of days later. He turned around this last round of alterations in a couple days -- a complex addition of fabric under the dress straps to reduce itchiness and some alterations to the bodice -- and the dress was perfect after that. His work on the straps was particularly impressive because the added fabric was completely invisible despite the fact that the straps were irregularly shaped, ornate, and lace. All in all, Seleh gets top marks for skill, timeliness, and emotional sensitivity (all a must when altering wedding dresses). Thank you again, Seleh! read more

Seleh's De Federal Hill - Update on the status of his shop. So sad. - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

The best tailor in the area, does a phenomal job and loves the craft. I highly recommend coming here if you need a tailor. I had a unique request that no other tailor in the area would do as I'm somewhat of a jacket enthusiast. Not only did he accept the request when no others did, but he did a phenomenal job that I genuinely think no one else would do. This is the only tailor I would go to and if you need something done creatively he is the man. read more

Seleh was great with rehemming a bridesmaid dress for me for my brother's wedding as well as offering advice on whether additional work was needed on the dress or not. He delivered the dress on a tight deadline and was able to add an extra half inch reduction to the hem when I had to call and let him know my shoes had changed. He's been a part of the Fed Hill small businesses for years and is such an integral part of the community. Would recommend him. read more

This guy is very skilled. I live in the Annapolis area and couldn't find a tailor in my area that could help me with my jeans. My jeans are old school - denim only. Seleh altered my jeans and my bathing suit top perfectly. I didn't initially consult him for the bikini top but he was willing to alter it and it is great! read more

Seleh's of Federal Hill offers the best quality tailoring in Baltimore!! i have been using his services for over 10 years.

I bought a leather jacket as a gift. Unfortunately, the sleeves were ridiculously long but the jacket was out of production. That's were Seleh's came in. The owner is exceedingly professional and clearly explained the alteration process to me. He then took measurements and explained pricing to so there were no surprises. Within three weeks the jacket was perfect though he would have made adjustments of necessary. I also have to add that the proprietor is a very personable gentleman and genuinely seems to enjoy people which was a refreshing bonus. If you ever need a leather jacket altered (or cleaned) I highly recommend Seleh's. read more

If there was a name for a horrible bride, it would be Kha. I am not a planner- in general. I took my "wedding" dress to Seleh for alterations after a less than stellar experience with another seamstress. Seleh listened patiently to my story and worked with me under an extremely aggressive timeline (1 week!) and right before his vacation too! I'm extremely detailed oriented- borderline nit picky. However, my biggest flaw is that I'm too scared to speak up for fear of offending (hence why I had to seek out Seleh in the first place). What's great about him is his easy going personality and his skill for conversation. Seleh never once made me feel guilty for voicing my thoughts or opinions. After my every decision or indecision, he would have me try on the dress, then he would step back to look at me and then he would say, "Speak to me." It was as if he was an artist and I was his living masterpiece. We would work through every alteration until he knew I was thoroughly satisfied. And through it all, he never lost patience with me and all my indecisiveness. He is a really gentle soul and his work speaks for itself (see photos). I couldn't recommend Seleh's de Federal Hill more! Please don't hesitate and call him! read more

For those in the area in need of leather or fur repair and/or cleaning, I recommend Seleh de Federal Hill (Baltimore) During a visit to Florence, Italy (known for its leather goods), I purchased a lovely leather jacket. Recently, the zipper cap broke. After checking with many leather goods shops and not finding any who could/would repair the zipper, I checked online. Seleh de Federal Hill was one of the highest-recommended shops for leather repair. I contacted Seleh, received an estimate, and scheduled an appointment. I arrived 1/2 hour early and was welcomed in. Mr. Seleh, who was very personable throughout my visit, expertly repaired the zipper "while I waited" and charged me appreciably less than his original estimate. I strongly recommend Seleh de Federal Hill for your leather and fur repairs and cleaning services. You won't be disappointed. read more

I planned my wedding with few months to spare. I needed a dress ASAP and decided to go with a sample dress so I could take it home! The only thing is....I'm a size 0 and my sample dress was a 12. Most recommend buying a dress no more than 2 sizes bigger than your measurements. Naturally, I was very nervous and being new to the area, I didn't know where to go. I began to scour the internet to see who I thought could handle this job! I'd come to decide that I thought Seleh could be who I would trust based solely on internet reviews. Thank God for reviews! Seleh was very easy to work with and incredibly talented! He was able to take my dress in from a size 12 to my size 0 frame as if he'd made the dress from scratch himself! I was so nervous having to have it taken in so many sizes but he was able to complete it flawlessly! I'm so glad I was able to trust him to do this work for me. 10/10 recommend. I also had the dress fitted to me whilst wearing a bombshell push up bra (adds 2 cup sizes). However, the day of my wedding my perfect push up bra was nowhere to be found. I naturally was panicked but the dress had been fitted to my waist so well that it stayed in place perfectly & still looked magnificent! I had nothing to worry about. If you choose Seleh, you are in good hands. Thank you, Seleh! read more

I brought in a vintage dress from the 1940's that needed adjustments to fit my 2024 bust. I was so worried to let anyone handle the task but Seleh put me at ease. Seleh was so kind and welcoming; I have not had the same experience with other tailors in the area, unfortunately. It is clear he takes great care in his work and treats his customers well. Some other customers came in while I was there and it was clear they had long- standing relationships, which speaks volumes. So happy to know I have a place to bring my beloved vintage clothing. read more

I am a curvy girl and my hips are two sizes bigger than my waist. I brought several skirts, pants and dresses to Seleh and he skillfully took in the waist and left me with the slim fit look that I like. His craftsmanship is excellent so that you cannot tell it was altered. You are paying for quality and peace of mind with Seleh. He took the time to know me and I trusted him. He's patient and great to work with. He turned around some of my garments when I had a very tight turnaround. I've moved out of Baltimore and leaving Seleh was definitely a big con. I hope to find a tailor as good at their craft as him. My only tip is to call before you go because he's not always in office and prefers to know when customers are coming. read more

These days, it's rare to find someone who is so passionate about their work that they admit to you they literally "lost sleep" over getting the job done perfectly for you. Let me tell you, Seleh actually cares that much. Not only does he clearly care about his work, he saved my wedding day with his unmatched skills... With 17 days until my wedding, I realized (in horror, obviously) that my dress was not fitting the way I had imagined it would. Thank goodness for Yelp for leading me to the best tailor in Baltimore. Seleh had my dress for one week and it now fits LIKE. A. GLOVE. I cannot wait to knock my groom's socks off next Sunday! (I'll post a photo of Seleh's work once the wedding is done!) Thank you Seleh! I gave Seleh's an impossible task, but he worked serious magic! I asked to have the waist of a vintage evening gown taken out so I could fit into it. There was easily a four inch difference between the teeny tiny waist of the dress and my own waist. I couldn't even zip the dress up! We agreed at first that a strip would need to be cut from the bottom to make panels, but he wasn't happy with the idea of compromising the length of the dress. He thought the skirt length was perfect as it was, and I couldn't have agreed more. Instead, he asked for a week to examine the dress. Apparently he took the whole dress apart at the seams and re-stitched every seam to give a bit more space. The final result? A vintage gown that fit like it was made for me, compromising not an inch of skirt. No panels needed! I don't believe anybody else could have done what Seleh's did for that dress. This dress is triple-lined and made with extremely delicate satin and black lace. There are tiny rhinestones imbedded in the design. There was hardly any room at all for error. Despite all that, the finished dress is immaculate. Trust Seleh's with your projects. He's professional, talented, and has an incredible eye for style. You'll love what he can do for your clothes! read more

in response to the owner: taking in the waist did not take away all of the stretch, it was velvet, and it was even still a bit too large. my waist is 23". it is small, but i can fit a dress that small over my body. i know my body. i was able to sit through the performance i went to see comfortably and the strap was not well attached. it was shoddy work from a stubborn easily offended old man who doesn't respect femme presenting people. calling me "this chick". you do not know how i dressed myself. you did create an unwelcome environment. i hope u can reflect and respect people more. read more

Seleh is great!! I brought my wedding dress here for alterations. The boutique I bought it from did not do a good job of measuring me when I bought my dress and when it finally came in it was almost 2 inches too wide! My dress had detailed patterning on the torso and along the hips so taking it in without creating a mismatched pattern was tough. However, Seleh did phenomenal work and you could barely even tell where he took it in! He also shortened the train which was waaay too long and added an inconspicuous button for the bustle. I was very pleased and he even gave me a discount on the final bill (even though it was still pricey, but that's to be expected for a wedding dress). read more

Seleh did a phenomenal job hemming my wedding gown. I came for an initial consult, a follow up fitting, and a final fitting. He (and his grandson) were so professional and made me feel comfortable and confident in his ability. Everything was perfect in the end and I'm so grateful. His shop is full of other works and projects - some are for sell and some are for other customers. It was "inspiring" to see everything and definitely led me to think of things I'd like to do in the future. I will definitely be back and am also sending my husband there to get a suit jacket and jeans altered. read more

Seleh's saved the DAY with my wedding dress! I had bought a lace topper from BHLDN and lost a ton of weight; it was outside the return window when I realized it didn't quite fit, and I was 2 weeks out from my wedding. I found this little shop on Yelp and immediately called and went in on a Monday afternoon. Seleh was extremely professional and walked me through the fitting process and the alterations he would make. My topper ended up fitting PERFECTLY and he even added a few snaps on the back of it so it didn't gap. In fact, it fit so well and looked so perfect over my dress that people thought they were purchased together. The price was fair, even including the extra fee I paid to have it done within the week. HIGHLY recommend for all your tailoring needs. read more

Seleh's De Federal Hill - Perfect fit! - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Seleh is a master craftsman who is clearly passionate about his work. He worked wonders on my wedding dress, taking off the delicate sleeves, hemming the bottom, and adding a bustle. All of this work took a few visits, and each time he was patient and accommodating. The first time I went in to try on the major alterations (which fit perfectly), he beamed with relief and said, "Phew! Now I can finally sleep!" He actually cares that much about his craft! I was so happy and impressed with his work, and he is so invested in his customers' satisfaction that on my last visit, he was giddy with delight. His joyful reaction was really indescribable, and reflected a true passion for craftsmanship. Aside from Seleh's immense skill and wonderful personality, I also found his price to be extremely fair ($320, which was about 15% less than what BHLDN told me to budget for tailoring - they warned me to budget more than average because removing the sleeves and altering the straps was actually quite complicated). Thank you Seleh for making this girl one happy bride! read more

Professional, quick and high quality service! Needed a quick turnaround for a wedding and was very flexible and accommodating!

Back Story: I bought a beautiful Vera Wang bridesmaid dress from Davids Bridal and entrusted and paid them to do my alterations. When alterations were "complete" I tried the dress on only to see that my alterations were half done and the ones that were completed were done sloppily. After 2 attempts of trying to fix my dress by the seamstress at Davids I walked out very unhappy. (We are about a week out from my moms wedding) I spent the next 2 days researching for a seamstress and that's when I stumbled across Seleh on yelp. First thing I noticed were the amazing reviews. Next I noticed some of his work he had done on what happened to be either a current or former coworker of my moms. So I call and make a mad dash over to his shop before he closed, I try the dress on, he confirms that the alterations were not complete, and he also says the alterations I need may be tricky. Within the week timeframe I had two dress fittings with Seleh per his request to make sure he got it right. By the time I picked up my dress my frown I once wore with it turned into a smile! Thank you Seleh for the magic you pulled in making a dress not quite built for a curvy individual fit like it was built for me. Also thank you for saving me the stress and money involved with having to find another dress. You are amazing at what you do! read more

Seleh's was recommended to me by Dan Brothers who I trust with all my shoe repairs. One week before my wedding, I brought Seleh a cape and a pile of mink stoles that all needed cleaning and a few that needed repairs. He not only did a wonderful job for a fair price in a short period of time, but was also extremely careful in getting my cape and stoles back to me when I could not pick them up in person. He confirmed the name of the person picking the items up, and when my sister's girlfriend came to the store, he asked her to call me on speaker phone so he could confirm she was who she said she was. I appreciated that he took extra precautions without making her feel interrogated and she did not feel disrespected at all. read more

Seleh is the best! I searched websites far and wide for a reputable tailor in Baltimore, and settled on Seleh's based on yelp. No regrets. As a rule of thumb, tailoring is expensive, so if you're going to spend the $$ you may as well have it done right. The first time I saw Seleh, I brought in one dress that needed to be taken in--lace in the back, so... tricky, and another dress that needed a slit that was up to my *hoo-ha* stitched back together to something more appropriate. Both jobs were executed flawlessly. I ended up coming back with a dress that I wanted turned into a top. Again--flawless. Having recently relocated to Arlington, I would actually consider commuting back here for my future tailoring needs. read more

After searching far and wide for someone who truly knew how provide leather alterations, I was so grateful to find Seleh's De Federal Hill. He is truly a Master Tailor. I am so happy with the result. He was professional, completed the job on time, and was pleasant to work with. Amazing service. Seleh is very kind and courteous. I dropped off a Ralph Lauren dress that was originally made with the sleeves open. I wanted a more conservative look so I asked Seleh if he could sew the sleeves shut for me. I picked up my dress a week later. Great turn around time. The sleeves are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT and the dress looks so much more elegant. This isn't my first time interacting with this business. The first time I wanted to have a dress altered for work. He told me that the dress was fine the way it was and that altering it could possibly make certain things look "funny" or ill fitting. He didn't attempt to do something that he knew shouldn't be done, just for the sake of money. That's what customer service and genuine caring is all about. I'm really appreciative. I brought my grandmother's fur that I inherited to Seleh's for some alterations and restoration. Seleh did a fantastic job with everything! I went in for a few quick fittings to make sure that the alterations were sufficient. The final product is beautiful and you can't tell that there were any modifications.
