I can't recommend S M Motor Sports highly enough…read more My wife and I found Sonny after having a terrible experience with a Porsche dealership in Manhattan. We recently purchased a 1980 928 and received a number of misdiagnosis from the dealership, especially with a transmission problem. Our shifter sloshed about and it was very hard to find gears. After a long trip, it started slipping out of first gear and we had to drive the car home in 2nd. We called Sonny and he took about a week to get us in. He gave a quick diagnosis over the phone when we first called, and then gave a more detailed description before seeing the car once we arrived at his shop. He gave us a price quote that was very close to the final amount, and described three potential outcomes. We opted to have him pull the shifter apart, check the bushings and the shifter cup, and change the transmission fluid. When we received a call from him, his diagnosis was correct, and he had fixed the problem. The shifter now feels great. He also took the time to fix a problem with our dash lights (Which did not work at night), and do a very thorough inspection of any other problems with the car. He was open to telling me how to fix certain smaller problems rather than requiring me to bring it to him for further work. We were incredibly happy with our service and will absolutely be back for future work. One additional thing I found cool: He was clearly familiar with the 928 and had about five of them out back in his shop. I have not found another mechanic in the area with that level of knowledge of this hard-to-service car.

LONGER VERSION: I was in a pretty horrible accident where my front end was severely damaged. At the time, I didn't know where to have it towed, so I went with the insurance adjuster's suggestion. When I got it back, it looked great but the alignment was really off. I took a full day off of work to take it back to the original shop in Long Island, they held on to it for about 8 hours, then came back to me and pronounced it "fixed." I drove it home and knew it was still really messed up. I then went to a place that specialized in alignments, and it was better, but still really off. I was at my wit's end, since the car is quite new but felt undriveable to me. So I took it to Broadway Auto, since they're super close by and always pleasant to deal with. (In the past, I had only gone to them for things like oil changes and inspections.) They had the car for about an hour when I got a call from Harris to come back so he can show me something. The subframe was not connected properly on one side, which was causing the alignment to be off. The original collision shop had not connected it properly. I had him fix it, since I didn't trust the original shop to correct it. When I came back to get the car, it drove perfectly. Harris actually warned me that it was still pulling a bit and I should go to the alignment place to have it adjusted, but I found that I didn't even feel it. I liked that Harris was so conscientious that he was noticing something that I didn't notice myself. As someone who knows very little cars, it can make you feel crazy when you know something is wrong but a mechanic keeps telling you it's fine. I had the absolute opposite experience here. Harris took my concerns seriously and actually did the work of figuring out the problem and correcting it. It's so satisfying to drive away from an auto repair place and feel like your car feels "right" again. Thank you to Harris and his coworkers!
