My coworker referred me here last year to fix my brakes and I had two tires replaced. This year I went again to get an assessment on some noise I was hearing in my car and was told that I had to replace all four struts. DM Sunoco was charging me $175 each, I did some homework at the other auto repair places and the estimates I received were $90-$110 each. I ran fast from DM Sunoco and told them I didnt know why they were charging me so much if they can be obtained for $300 cheaper. I had to pay $40 for the assessment and despite how nice they are I wont be back! read more

Service was not good. I took my vehicle there to have the fuel pump replaced. One of the "mechanics" idled the vehicle then sprayed some kind of lubricant on the engine while it was running and hot. Guess what happened? YEP, fire and fumes. They burned out the screen to the Air flow Sensor. As I tried to take pictures while they extinguished the fire, the owner (I guess he owns this location) got really nasty when I said I wanted to see what they were doing when they got my truck into a bay. Well he said I cannot stay in there and if I wanted to take it somewhere else then go. Well after paying almost $500, several days later I ended up being towed back to this location (not to far from my home) only to be told they need to rethread the inside of one of the spark plugs. The same firebug had the nerve to tell me it will about another $500 but it will have to wait until the next day when the guy that actually does it will be. Ok, enough. I called my AAA had my vehicle towed elsewhere in Bklyn where I know the mechanic will do an outstanding, cost effective, quality job. It's really sad that quality work is no longer an option. In any event, I will not go there again. Just to think I have a Sunoco gas card that I will return to the main headquarters. I will let them know of my experience at this location. Mr. K. Beware of getting your car worked on here. Another garage confirmed that this Sunoco garage installed OLD front shocks/springs when I paid for new ones. I paid over $800 at This Sunoco garage when I recently got the same procedure on the back of the car with NEW parts for $425 at another garage. This place should get negative stars. As a customer for over 10 yrs, I am totally disgusted by their service. They lied about work, lied about putting in a new part for free. Treating me as if I a piece of dirt. When I confronted them on the things they said on the phone and reality, they laughed. My car was done at 2:30 (yeah right) then I show up a 5:00, my car's engine is in pieces. When asked when it would be done, the man laughed and said, " Well I get out at 6, so I guess it has to be done by then." Great way to treat loyal customers... Well you have lost my business and anyone that I can tell about your horrible ways. You lost a $600 repair and you lied there were no new parts , unless you consider a belt with a crack in it new. My car was having a few problems so I took it to the place down the block with a bit of scepticism. The windshield wiper want working right, the windshield fluid was squirting onto my hood. The AC didn't work at all. And I had to turn the key 1-3 times before it would start. They seemed to have fixed all the problems, including replacing the fuel pump, the first time. Replacing the fuel pump was by far the most expensive part, but my boyfriend who'd given me the car said they did it at a very reasonable price despite the fact that he'd just replaced it 6 months prior. I felt pretty sceptical when he told me that... I drive up to Poughkeepsie without much trouble but once I got there my car stopped wanting to accelerate. I barely got back to NYC on the crazy mountains you need to go up in the Taconic. When I called them to complain that my car wouldn't accelerate to more than 30 mph on a steep uphill, they were very concerned and told me to bring it in ASAP. Once I brought it in, it took them a while to determine I had a problem with my ECM, specifically the pump relay was bad and ruined the pump. The replaced that again (it was still under warranty) without charging me labor again, which was the most expensive thing the first time And replaced my spark plugs (which my '98 car definitely needed) and cleaned the throttle body without charging me labor. This is my first car and I know very little about cars, but these guys did a great job and were so nice and fair and helpful I highly recommend them. I am using DM Sunoco mechanics to fix my cars for the last 15 years. I highly recommend them. They are honest, do excellent diagnostic. They are efficient and their work is very reasonably priced. I have a Volvo and I used to go to my Volvo dealer. I found that D M Sunoco does a better job diagnosing problems in my cars than the dealership mechanics and do the repairs at a fraction of the cost. read more

I have been bringing my 2006 Corolla there for as long as I have had it. They are excellent mechanics, and I have never had a problem on the road after their servicing. They even were able to repair a grounding problem that TWO dealerships couldn't repair!! They seem to be a little pricey, but you get quality work from them all the time. read more

While the mechanics do competent work, this shop overcharges greatly on replacement parts. Recently there was work done on my car and I was overcharged by 250-300 percent on most parts, bringing my overall bill up to a horrendous level. As a result, I'm seriously considering leasing my next car. read more

What a great bunch of guys!, Polite, and professional.No surprises, I brought my 01 Mercedes in for a ck engine light. they were able to hook the car up to Snap On computer, diagnose my vehicle, and get me on my way in 45 minutes. Mercedes would have taken a week and charged triple. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the station and their 12 month, 12thousand mile Nationwide Warranty. The manager also showed me their program for service interval work, it was half the price of the dealership, and maintains my cars warranty. I will be using them to maintain my other cars! read more

I have been bringing my car here since 2002 (it is the same car). I bring my wife's car here as well. I continue to bring the cars here even now that I live a bit farther away. I have been dealing with the manager, Ramesh, the entire time. Ramesh is a pleasure to work with. He is knowledgeable, responsive, and generally repairs the car the same day. When a repair doesn't go quite right the first time, Ramesh will take the car back and correct the problem. I believe the prices are fair, and I trust Ramesh and his team. The shop's location is convenient for people who commute to Manhattan for work because the subway stop is only a few blocks away. I recommend DM Sunoco enthusiastically. read more

Had a great stress free experience dropping my Honda truck off for a cracked axle amongst a few other front end repairs. Brought my car in after work during the evening and it was ready the following afternoon. The head mechanic spoke with me around 7am before the work was started and explained what was needed and what would be repaired/replaced. Was very happy with the price and work done. BEWARE of THIEVERY!!!!!!! I brought my car here for some routine work (inspection and oil change) and for pricing on some strut work I had been putting off til I could afford it. I ended up being asked about tire rotation and then receiving a phone call saying that I needed all 4 new tires and asking about the ones I had on the car. I immediately said "No, thank you " as I had recently gotten all 4 new tires replaced and had spent a long time hunting for exactly the tires I wanted. They got pushy and finally said "Well...you'll need at least 2 of them done." Since they got pushy regarding replacing my tires and were a bit rude when I asked them about the strut work pricing...I decided to get my struts done elsewhere. At the next place I went...I was then also told...you need 2 new tires...to my GREAT surprise. When I took a much closer look....2 of my 4 new tires (the front ones) look as though they are dry rotting....something that WOULD NOT happen to new tires such as the ones I had recently bought. The tread wear on those front tires is MUCH different also than the wear than those on the back. Also....as I was paying, I was questioned about whether I was from around here. Why would they be asking me that???? I believe that my tires were stolen by these thieves and replaced with older ones. I will NOT return here and highly suggest you think twice before having ANYTHING done here....they will rob you blind and do so in a way so that you can't prove it easily.
