Car was having issues with jittery…read moresteering, rear suspension was causing uneven and bumpy ride over any type of road, car has 88k miles with original suspension. I end up getting KYB shocks and struts with full spring assembly on my own. I had the shop install the front struts and rear shocks and they advise front linkage needed replacement as well. When car came back and was road tested, i realized no more shaking at speeds over 50mph, suspension felt very smooth, all tires felt in place and brakin was improved aling with sharp steering. Mike did a great job, the car felt like brand new. Job was done quickly and 4 hrs later they were calling me to pick up. I was so happy, that i am already thinking about doing the same to my other car. They are experts working diligently to deliver proper customized individual solutions. I've brought my fifth car to Jay and Steve. Some were used and some were new. Jay has been the most honest mechanic I ever met and he really does take care of you and your car. We bring our cars for an inspection and oil change whenever we can ( We moved so we live far from his business.) since he inspect the cars so I can fix it before it gets major issue. We tried to use someone local but they told me one thing when Jay told me what I really needed. I really value his honesty and his skill as a mechanic. Let me tell you that he might not be the most friendliest person at first but he is really nice person once you get to know him. I tried not to be biased but I guess I am since I drive an hour to bring my cars to him. I recommend him if you want a mechanic who is honest and good at what he does.

I drove slowly and brought my car in the head technician looked at it and in an hour told me I had a busted water pipe and that's why there is no more coolant in the reservoir. The thing that got me angry was the fact that my previous auto shop was suppose to drain and refill my coolant, in the process, no one had bother to even check my hoses, what amateurs. I brought my car to Douglaston Auto Care and the sound was coming from my positioning of the rubber mat on the floor against the brake and gas. Another mechanic would have seen that as opportunity to take advantage. Not at Douglaston---they are honorable. They told me the truth. I have been going there ever since and will never return to my dealer. They are always truthful and explain in detail what has to be done. Their work is also impeccable. I have been bringing our family cars to Dave for servicing for years. He is very personable,…read more experienced and knowledgeable about all makes & models, both new and old. Dave recently solved a nagging but known problem with my son's '15 Infiniti Q40. The car would take on water every time there was a steady rain. My son had taken his car to several mechanics but the problem was never resolved. Apparently the leak was a known problem with Infiniti's sunroof drain system. The outlet would easily get clogged by dirt and falling debris. Rather than simply blowing out the dirt and debris with a water or air hose like the other mechanics my son used, Dave was the only one who thought outside the box and re-ran the sunroof drain lines from both sides of the sun roof and connected the two hoses into one using a T valve and running the one single drainage hose out the car via the AC outlet. Happy to report that it's been 6 or 7 months now and the car which is parked uncovered in my driveway full-time, is now bone dry even after some very heaviest days of rain.
