I was to bring my car in Wednesday as early as possible. So after giving them two days notice, they didn't have the tires on hand, and after paying $170 for a "inspection" was told that I needed an alignment, and new tires, and a back tire only had 5 psi... Strangely they assumed that I would leave my car in the parking lot until the next morning. (unlocked, as I discovered) but needing transportation, I left. After driving a few minutes, I checked my tire pressure and found it still had 5 psi. So I called them and asked if they put air in the tire and the response was no because we thought you were going to replace them. (but they didn't have them, even though they had two days notice to get at least two)... returned the next morning. I asked the owner as he arrived to work Thursday morning if it was reasonable to be without transportation for 30+ hours for a couple of tires and a wheel alignment? He replied that it wasn't uncommon! I don't think that is a reasonable standard for any shop! NEWPORT AUTO "home of the 36 hour alignment" I have since found out they often overcharge and under deliver. take your car elsewhere, don't fall victim to this greedy gouge master

Nothing but misleading communication and lies from these guys. Paid $1000 to DIAGNOSE a misfire, which should be a couple hours of work tops. They bill extra hours and don't do the work that they say they will. Wanted to charge an extra 1.5 hours of labor to put my car back together on top of the 8 hours of labor they billed for a simple diagnosis. That simple diagnosis got completed at another shop in 3 hours and i didn't have to wait around for 2 weeks before they touched my car. They also yanked fuses from my car for no reason and left them hidden in the interior (a sick joke for the less mechanically inclined!?) No response from them when i asked why they even opened my fuse box. A shame to the squamish community that we have shady shops like this in operation. Save yourself the headache, keep some cash in your pockets and get your car running quicker by bringing it ANYWHERE other then Newport Auto

I opted to wait and based on my girlfriends recommendation, I took it to Freds. Fred's did their own diagnostic and confirmed the same issue and rather that trying to sell the work, they called me to say that the part is under warranty from Audi and to take it back to them for free replacement. Now that is customer service. I will now be taking all of my cars to Fred's. Ps. It would be nice if they washed and vacuumed your car, but I'll let that pass for great customer service any day.

They came back saying everything from the refrigerant to the compressor need to be replaced and gave me a $925 quote! There was a separate quote with original parts which went up to $3000 I don't exactly remember the number. Needless to say, I took it to another place and they just replaced the refrigerant liquid and it seems to work absolutely fine. Unfortunate that they had to be dishonest about something so basic. I took my car for a standard service and to take a look at a warning light. I came away with a totally flat battery (couldnt even start the car in the forecourt and the warning light not dealt with). To top it all they charged me $500 for a $375 retail price Battery. They also charged me 30% more than I was quoted over the phone for my service and couldn't explain it other than to say it was a receptionist who misquoted me. Mike tried to BS me that he had placed a better battery, but his product code which he had cleverly disguised so clients can not cross check the price, aligned exactly with what he had fitted. I called him on it and of course he went silent on me. No responses whatsoever. To miss a flat battery, makes me wonder what else wasn't completed in this car service. When lining up to pay for the car on collection, both clients in front of me were complaining of overcharges against quotes already issued. This seems to be quite a common issue with MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. This is the last time my family will use MIDAS. We are not idiots MIKE. Don't hide behind your email. When you get called out on your BS, be a businessman, and answer your clients. Try and win them back. All you have done here for the sake of scraping an extra $200 out of me is loose our family custom and raise awareness to anyone reading this very fair and truthful statement NOT TO USE MIDAS WEST VANCOUVER. I pulled it over to a quiet residential street, and the road was immediately covered in coolant. In short, not good! After some careful roadside diagnostics I realised that I would definitely need a mechanic's help to get a functioning pump going and reset my serpentine belt. I called a few places up, but Samson was the only one who could see it the next day. So I bring it in the next morning with a a new pump, ready to go but... it was defective! Had to rush an exchange and they redid the work ASAP. And the road coolant? A busted radiator! Totally unrelated, but they threw it in for a very reasonable labour rate and below market price on the radiator. So I got a pump installed and then reinstalled, my serpentine belt re tensioned, and a new radiator with install for well under $1000. Done after a single day, next day service. Amazing! And they noted another job that might need to be done soon (my van's 20 years old, go figure), but didn't pressure me to do it. Probably my best experience with a mechanic yet!

No gimmicks, no frills, but did good work for real cheap (due to the less expensive parts they secure). In the end though our wrecked controlling arm, trailing arm, etc was replaced for a very reasonable and inexpensive price, the alignment (which they don't have the machinery to do so they referred us to Pacific Alignment) cost us an arm and leg!! We do understand that alignments cost more money but we wish we understood their limitations because we might have just gone straight to Pacific Alignment instead, but I don't know if they would've reduced the price or not. It was just an extra hassle to move the car to Pacific Alignment to finish the work. However, I would still recommend this place because they're honest people doing honest work and they didn't charge us an arm and leg like the KalTire folks (we got a quote from them). However KalTire has great service and Samson's is more a mom and pop neighbourhood autobody. I would choose this place in a heartbeat because I love supporting honest small businesses, and this place is one of them!
