Willows Tire and Auto Care saved us! Our tire blew out on Highway 5 late in the day. We were much too far from home to drive the whole way on our spare donut tire. We would have to wait for AAA to come, have them install the spare, then try to get to a tire shop before closing time to get a regular tire installed. It was getting late and AAA was taking its time. It looked like we'd have to find a place to stay overnight to get a tire installed the next morning. We called around. Alex at Willows Tire and Auto Care offered to come out and install a new tire right there on the roadside. He came quickly, and worked long past his regular closing time. Wanted to say thanks and share my experience for others. I was driving from Central Oregon to the Santa Barbara area on Saturday, 9/28/24. The transmission in my Honda Odyssey started slipping as I was getting close to Willows, CA, allowing the engine RPM to increase above its normal range. I exited I5 at Willows, stopped at Walmart, considering attacking the problem on my own. I opened the hood and found ATF leaking out of the transmission fluid dipstick and the level was low. Having minimal tools, I decided to hunt for a shop to tackle the work. Willows Tires And Auto Care popped up with good reviews when I searched and was open on Saturday. They were fabulous! They did a thorough, thoughtful job, used the recommended fluid, not just one they had on hand, took the time to wash the underside and engine compartment and take me on a test drive to check and demonstrate the vehicle was operating as expected. They even let me see and smell the original ATF and look for metal shavings as it was drained. Truly above and beyond! The service price was very, very reasonable. Wish all of my auto service experiences were this good. I'm thankful to report that the remaining 400 miles of the trip went fine, we've had no additional concerns and feel confident about our return trip to Oregon about a week out. We got a flat in the middle of the night, and we dropped off the car and parked it overnight with them. In the morning I called and they came and picked us up from our hotel! 10/10 they went above and beyond. They changed out the tire and it was ready for us by the time we arrived. They even said if we had called last night they might have sent someone out! Total charge was cheaper than most places we looked around. On a road trip to Bremerton Wa our car started spewing oil from the engine compartment. Pulled over to the nearest gas station. Figured very quickly we needed a mechanic to diagnose the transmission.
