Hubby and I went here for a birthday breakfast, on the way out of town. We've been here several times and I always try to eat something different. This time I got the Breakfast Burrito and added tri tip instead of the bacon, ham or sausage that comes with it. Oh my goodness!! First of all, it is HUGE!!! I cut it in half and the half of it is bigger than the normal sized breakfast burritos I get other places. I knew I would only eat half from the start. But not only was it huge, it was delicious!! It was stuffed with so much stuff. Eggs, cheese, ham, tri-tip, potatoes!! No scrimping here!!! They load it up with food and flavor!!! Even though it was delicious, I couldn't eat it all. I took the other half to go and ate it later. When I put the half into the "to go" container, it filled it up. That's how big it is!! The service there is great! I wanted bbq on our drive home from Monterey and found this place. The parking lot was crowded for lunch but there was plenty of space. It's big inside with many booths and plenty of counter seating and a bar. They must cater to truck drivers and farmers. I ordered the Tri-tip dinner with mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The tri-tip wasn't that tender but still good. The cole slaw was maybe the best I've ever had! My guy had the Plow Boy sandwich which had brisket, pastrami, bacon, onion rings, jalapeños and chipotle sauce and came with French fries. He enjoyed it. It was a good lunch. We were driving by, hungry, so stopped for lunch. Ice tea was a little weak, but sweetened-up nicely and was served in a gigantic cup -- plenty to sip and then take the rest in my travel tumbler. (I assume refills are included, but that gigantic cup was plenty this time.) The food? We had burgers. The Garden Burger included the usual fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, but also sliced avocado! That was a nice surprise! The burger is served with only mustard, so I added a side of their house-made 1000 Island dressing -- which was fantastic! Both their 1000 Island and Ranch are house-made, and very yummy!!! The sweet potato fries were delicious, too, AND I discovered even MORE delicious dipped in that 1000 Island dressing! Willow Ranch will now be a regular stop when we're driving by -- even if just for a snack of ice tea and sweet potato fries. With 1000 Island, of course! read more

This little spot is a good stop if you're in the mood for a decent meal on the I-5 between LA and SF. The flavors are typically in need of salt, but the service is too notch. Was on a road trip looking for a place to eat. Found a gem with great food. I got the Plow Boy sandwich which is the best BBQ Sandwich I've ever had. Better BBQ sandwich than what you get in Texas. This sandwich would win contests. For the price you get lots of delicious meats. Everything was well balanced and not too salty. The fries were delicious as well. Crispy with every bite till the end. Discovered this cozy spot when taking an alternate route to L.A. from Monterey. It's in the middle of farmland, off the 5 fwy but not visible. Service was super friendly and the food was great. We had the corned beef hash breakfast and the chicken fried steak breaker with a side of hot links. Seems their specialty is barbecue however. Will have to try that if I'm ever in the area. The family and I stopped in at the Willow Ranch yesterday for breakfast on our way up to the Russian River and I'm so glad we did. We arrived around 7:30 and there were probably 4 cars in the parking lot. Looking at Willow Ranch from the outside, it reminded me of an old school, non-pretentious steakhouse. You know, the best kind. Walking in, we were greeted by Amber who was also our server. She said we could sit anywhere so we parked ourselves at a booth next to a window. There were a few other diner who were locals. Amber dropped off some menus and took our drink order. Looking at the menu, it is all comfort food, plus, plus. What caught my eye was the Corned Beef Hash. The Mrs. and I ordered that hash and my daughter ordered the Ranch Benedict. I consider myself a connoisseur of Corned Beef Hash. I've had it in Las Vegas at Mon Ami Gabi, on cruise ships, beachside cafes, and my local greasy spoon coffee shop. When I look at Corned Beef Hash, nay, analyze it, I look at how much seasoning is used on the meat. Too much pepper can take away from the sweetness of the Corned Beef. I also look at the consistency of the Corned Beef. It should be tender, and not stringy and fatty. I usually order Corned Beef Hash with an over medium egg so I look at how the egg interacts with the Corned Beef. It should be a beautiful buttery marriage of texture and flavor. Looking at all of the aforementioned factors, Willow Ranch has the best Corned Beef Hash I've ever had. The meat was beautifully shredded by hand and the seasoning was on point. My eggs were cooked perfectly and melted right into the beef. I also threw the hash browns in which only added to the incredible texture of the dish. Amber stopped by to check on us and I told her it was the best Corned Beef Hash I'd had. You won't see Willow Ranch off the main road through Buttonwillow. It sits off of a side street. Buttonwillow/ Bakersfield is usually my default pitstop as I am traveling up and down the 5. On my way going north, I stopped by Starbucks and spent over $12 on coffee and a nasty sandwich, but spotted Willow Ranch as I started the drive north again. I made a mental note that I have to come check out this spot on the way back to LA. So, instead of stopping at Starbucks for another coffee break, I pulled up to Willow Ranch and walked into a family style/ Denny's type of restaurant by the side of the freeway. Nothing was written on the "Today's Special" Chalkboard, but seeing the great reviews on Yelp, I decided to give this a try. Service was friendly, and there are lots of items to choose from. Prices were reasonable and the servings were huge! Okay. So the food is not 5 stars, but given the fact that I am in the middle of no where and being served hot food with reasonable prices, this place deserve 4 stars from me. And yes... I will be visiting Willow Ranch again the next time I come to this part of town. read more

This place used to a four to Five star joint from what all the time truckers tell me but it has been under New Management for about two years. This will be my second time trying it . Let me talk about the customer service. I would give the customer service and front line staffs five stars off top . Very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant decor is date and old but gives it that small town middle of nowhere character. With saying that this the middle of nowhere that's one of my main reasons I give them three stars they are good for the area not a lot to pick from. The food is not bad and the bbq sauce is okay so that helps a lot. The food portion size is trucker friendly. Chicken was plain but moist. The Brisket was dry and the Beef ribs you how that goes little to no meat but not bad. Beans are made with beef not a lot favor. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place! Super clean restaurant and friendly staff. We ordered the 2 meat combo, (brisket and chicken 1/4) salad and fries. The ranch dressing is on point! Tastes like they make it here (delicious) The side of beans that comes with the meal was to die for! So Flavorful! Whenever I eat at a place that specializes in BBQ, I always get the sauce on the side so I can really taste the meat flavors. Their BBQ sauce is EXCELLENT! All the flavors were there on the meats. However, I think the brisket, although moist is heated on the flat top grill which definitely toughened it a bit. The chicken was flask fried to reheat, but like I said earlier, the flavors were all there and so good! I think I would make the brisket a dinner only item so it can be served fresh. It actually is hilarious. My family many many decades ago lived for our annual summer trips to Wisconsin in unbelievably Hot August. One of our extremely loose rules was dinner had to be at any one of the infamous WI. Supper Clubs. The "Club" always had a dark front, surrounded by trees, a parking lot packed on a Saturday night, and a neon sign that blinked "Cocktails". The music in the "locals" bar just inside the door to the right always had A.M. classics just like here tonight, Neil Diamond's Song Sung Blue. The waitress is always fun on a Saturday night and service was great and sassy. The WI. National Cocktail of Choice is the iconic Brandy Old Fashioned. They always had an ice cold relish appetizer on a chilled pewter plate, an ice cold salad with perfect dressing, and various cheese crumbles, croutons, and real bacon bits. Steaks, BBQ, fried chicken, fresh local fish, there's too much to choose. The desserts were of course pies, cream pies, cakes, and cobblers with ice cream. It all made for a wonderful diabetic seizure guaranteed a near comatose sleep in our mosquito infested pop up camper with a Scottie that almost caught that Skunk. Made the drive to give this place a shot and let me tell you it was worth it. We showed up just before 4pm for an early dinner. At this point the place was pretty much empty. A couple other people inside was all. Service was great. Our waitress was eager to serve. We ordered a few drinks which were tasty. We ordered our food and honestly come out pretty fast. By then more people started showing up and more servers. This tells me we beat the dinner rush. I order ed the ribeye wife ordered the fish and chips and our boy ordered the tritip sandwich. We stopped by for breakfast on the way from Northern California to Southern California. Willow Ranch popped up on a search and had great Yelp reviews. My friend got the chicken fried steak breakfast and it looked like it was enough food for a family of 5. He did manage to polish it off himself and said it was fantastic. I got the breakfast burrito and subbed for tri-tip. The tri-tip was good enough but If you do your own cooking/grilling/smoking of tri-tip, you might not be impressed. It was good not great. Next time, I'll stick with bacon. Regardless, the burrito was very good and I have zero complaints. The server was super friendly and attentive.
