This post is long overdue. I wanted to surprise my wife and her best friend from going up with a relaxing spa trip, and the staff here worked with me to give them an amazing morning. Due to Covid restrictions, Willow aren't currently allowed to serve any drinks or snacks, but they allow guests to bring their own treats to enjoy. The management coordinated with me to provide a mani/pedi for the ladies and to call me for payment so the birthday girls didn't have to worry about payment at all. At the end of the day, Ally gushed to me about how wonderful and relaxing it was. Willow nailed it. The only thing that didn't go great is that the specific nail treatment didn't last as well as expected, but the management made it right. They gave Ally a free touch up and shellack and they reimbursed me for Emily's mani. I will gladly use them again. read more

I got a signature facial and it was so rushed feeling. The esthetician quickly went through each motion and seemed to get inpatient with me throughout. She adjusted my head probably ten times and was so forceful each time. All of that lead to not my best facial ever but the real reason I'm giving this two stars is she was rude. As I laid down she asked if she could pluck a hair out of my mole above my lip, I said of course! Then she went on to say "good, because that was the first thing I noticed when I looked at you." While a massage is one of the greatest stress releases in the world, especially as an athlete, I was rather disappointed when I had to book 3+ weeks in advance then to be told 3 days before hand that I have to reschedule my massage but there's not an opening for another 4 weeks. Instead of working with me and refunding a gift card to get a massage somewhere else in an adequate time (during the sports season) they held me stranded and said sorry you'll have to wait another month to use us. read more

Every year for Mr. MVP's birthday I surprise him with an experience instead of a tangible gift. We have been married for 16 years and when we need something we simply buy it, so I like to give him surprise events and adventures (we actually call them birthday week adventures) that he can remember. This year his birthday adventure was a day at the spa. He has had a normal massage from a professional at the Healing Arts Center before, but he has never had a manicure, pedicure and facial. I wanted the whole package. I called an entire month in advance only to find out Willow Day Spa was booked. They were able to fit him in for a massage and manicure and pedicure, but they could not fit a facial in - I made the appointment. The price was around $200 for a 90 minute massage and a manicure and pedicure. I have absolutely no idea if this is a good deal or not. I'm just passing along information. I called the day before and confirmed the appointment because I had not received a confirmation call. I also asked if they had any cancellations for a facial and was told there was still no room on their calendar. The next morning I sent Mr. MVP off in the car with an address and wished him luck. He really enjoyed his morning. He said the staff was very nice and professional. The building was lovely and very clean. Mr. MVP is agreeable with everyone, but he was really impressed with all of the people he met and actually suggested that we go back for a day in the future for him and I. He then told me that the staff said they had room for a facial if he could stay until 2:00 p.m. This made me a little angry. I did not say anything to him because it was his birthday adventure, but I was told three times there was absolutely no way a facial could be worked in to the schedule. Ugh. Mr. MVP had a nice morning and it was a mostly simple scheduling process and I could make the payment over the phone. Willow Spa does have packages available, but I would recommend calling way in advance. I obviously did not give enough advance time on the calendar. **As a note for those of you who go and do get a massage and are smell sensitive. Mr. MVP came home and had the strongest scent of whichever oil Willow Day Spa uses. Even after he took a shower it was STILL there. The oil just hung around and would not leave. We have an almost scent free house because of my severe allergies and this smell was so strong it took over our entire house. After one more shower and changing the sheets the smell is finally gone. read more

I spent $1000.00 to get botox and lip enhancement. The botox was a complete bust. It didn't help my wrinkles at all. The lip juvanate was noticeably better. However I spent 376.00 at a plastic surgeons on botox and it was awesome for six months. I never went back for pictures I was so upset that the botox was such a failure. I think sticking to plastic surgeons is money better spent. read more

It is such a beautiful place, to begin with. They stage everything perfectly. The building is adorable on the outside and as you walk in you're greeted with a beautiful fireplace and sitting area and just calm lighting. The staff is always very attentive. I go to Spas for complete relaxation and you just feel less stress right when you walk in the door. As I got ready for my massage they did everything some place should do. She asked whatlevel of pressure I wanted and asked if I were any areas to work on and when I told her she definitely made sure to pay special attention to all those areas. The place is clean and they do a good job with their soundproofing so you hear nothing but the soothing music in your room. I always ask for a gift card here to treat myself as many times as I can! read more

I have had four salon services here. The IPL, Botox, thread lift and the laser hair removal. The staff is super friendly, very educated, and provide excellent customer service. Consults are free. Staff can provide theIr own experience with some of the services offered which helps in decision making. I recommend The salon and have referred to all my friends where in some areas of neighboring cities these services are not offered. Outside the back window, the view is so beautiful- you can relax while pampering is performed. read more

Started coming here in late January after a nail disaster. Another salon had done some damage to my nails and over trimmed my cuticles. Joy took the time to get all the gel off, the acrylic tip (I did not ask for from the other place) and a brand new manicure. It took longer because of all the extra steps. Worth it. She doesn't use the file machines so it's better for my nails in the long run. I also tried the Dazzle Dry system. Regular nail polish that's vegan, free of many harsh chemicals in other polish, dries in five minutes, and lasts 2 weeks? Yes please! I'm never getting gel or dip manicures again! It really did last about that long before chipping. That's huge considering how much I work with my hands. I am hard on manicures. The staff is really nice and nice to talk to. I love walking in to a smile and a fire blazing away in the lobby. Never a problem scheduling appointments or communication. Unlike the other review I left for a different local salon. I haven't tried their massage or skin care services yet. But my birthday is coming up. read more

I decided to treat myself today and made an appointment at Willow. This was FAR AND AWAY the best mani/pedi I've gotten in Kalamazoo. When I walked in to the clean and cleanly decorated spa, the receptionist took my coat. I was offered water or tea (I accepted hot tea, and they had a variety of Tazos) and provided with magazines. (This is a small thing, but the magazines were actually from this month. It annoys me when I'm handed last year's magazines.) The pedicure area is awesome. They don't have any of those tacky chairs with the water bins attached. They have you sit on a comfy bench way up off the ground, and the water goes right into removable container from the faucet. It could all be in my head, but it struck me as more sanitary because it seemed way easier to clean. I told her I was ticklish, and she handled my pedicure well. My toes are sandal-ready. To remove the existing shellac polish on my fingernails, she soaked cotton in acetone, put it on my nail, and wrapped the tip of my finger in aluminum foil. After a few minutes, she removed the wraps, and the shellac just came right off. She just rubbed the little bits that remained until they were gone too. This was great--every other place I've been had me soak my fingers in a bowl and then roughly scraped the polish off. They carry one of the best varieties of shellac polish I've seen around, and they had samples you can look at so that you actually know what you're getting. It seems like they experiment with layering different colors to produce new ones, and I loved some of the results. My manicure came out beautifully and exactly how I had requested. Everyone I encountered was incredibly friendly, and the discussion was lively and entertaining. I was put completely at ease and really enjoyed myself. $65 for the pedicure and shellac manicure which I thought was a pretty good deal all around. Tip: Make an appointment. I've tried to walk in before, and they weren't able to fit me in. read more

I went here for my very first EVER pedicure, after my man so graciously bought one for me out of the blue, leaving a credit in my name! I wasn't 100% sure to expect, since I had never had a pedicure and never get manicures- I just do it myself. It was a great experience overall. I went for the deluxe version, why not. With that, I got the more standard stuff like shaping the nails and fixing the cuticles, plus a foot scrub, cream, hot towel wrap, plus the gross but so effective callus removal. My pedicurist (is that the right term??), Zazlow, was great. She suggested from the beginning to choose a particular brand of polish that would last the longest, but wasn't gel so I could remove it with acetone. She was chatty but not in an annoying way, she seemed very perceptive. I left feeling very pampered and my god, my feet were perfect! The overall atmosphere to me seemed relaxed, not overly done-up or ritzy. It was fairly quiet, but I was there later in the day. This is definitely a good spot to treat someone to for a gift! I walk to work every day, so likely the pedicure's effects will soon wear off... I may need to return soon! read more

I've been a few times for a facial wax, which were wonderful experiences. There is a nice relaxing area to wait. They take you into the same rooms as their facials, bring over the bright lights and really do it right. I've been to several other places in Kalamazoo for this service, but this is my favorite. Then, I decided to take the plunge for Laser Hair Removal. So professional. This is the second place I've been to for LHR and they blew the competition away. I had two areas (discount for more than one area, which turned it into a reasonable price) and they iced it down so I could have the treatment applied at a higher level (leads to better results). Highly recommended; make an appointment. They accept walk-ins but they're pretty busy. read more

I have had my share of facials in a variety of settings and towns and the Willow Signature Facial is hands down the best I've ever received. Days later I'm still glowing and marveling at my clear, fresh, taut skin. Karen is professional and skilled. Beyond just the aesthetics of the facial, she spent time talking about what we take into our bodies is reflected through our skin. I loved getting that holistic inside out approach. In the end, she loaded me up with all kinds of samples in cleansers, serums, etc. I will absolutely be going back for the full products in addition to booking more services. Alisa was my esthetician and she was out of this world amazing. She made sure I was within my budget while still addressing my issue and taking such great care of me. Iv never been so happy with a initial appointment and have a great plan in place that will take me to the place I want to be with my skin. While the setting is beautiful and the spa is nicely decorated, I would much rather see results from the money I spend there than comment on the surroundings. It looks like many of the reviews are for massages, not salon services. I had various procedures....facials, micro-needling, Botox and filler, and must say I didn't notice any positive results from any of them. My lip has a small bump/callus from the needle used to inject, and I was told after going to a plastic surgeon in Grand Rapids, that the needle used was too large and that's why I have a permanent bump on my lip. I have been to probably 12 different salon/spas in my lifetime, and unfortunately Willow is at the bottom of the list because there are just no results. When you were spending hundreds of dollars, it would be nice to see something positive! read more

What a wonderful place to spend the day being pampered. My husband gave me a spa package for my birthday. He bought it over the phone and was very pleased with his experience with the staff. I entered the spa and was greeted with smiles and offerings of tea or water. My massage was first and it was so relaxing, I fell asleep!! Next was my spa facial, I never had one before and it was AMAZING!!!! I will definitely be scheduling another one in the near future. My face looked and felt fabulous!! My normal salon, HQ Salon in Portage, stopped selling Jane Iredale make-up so I found this place. I haven't know of anyone else to have gone here. I was on a short break from work and I just wanted to see the make-up in person before I decided on what to buy. I went in and told the lady at the front that I was there just to look at the make-up. She was with someone else who was also looking at it as well, to the point I couldn't actually GET to it. So I waited a few feet away...and waited...played on my phone by the window...waited... over 10 minutes later...just to LOOK at the make-up... then I left. There was no "I'll be with you in just a minute" or "Let me get someone for you" or "Would you like to look while I finish up with them?" Nope. Apparently I need an appointment just to shop there. I will ge going back to HQ Salon still - THEY'RE AWESOME, and I will just be going to the next nearest shop for Jane Iredale make-up, it's better than trying to go back to Willow. read more

I live out of state and on a visit back to my hometown my sister and I went for manicures. My sister got a great shellac and I got a fine regular manicure. The problems we had were not with the manicures but the business. Being winter, it was cold outside, and cold inside too. It was as if the heat was set at 50 degrees. My sister and I both had the shivers after leaving. The worst part was that my credit card was mistakenly charged $300 over the price of the manicures and the headaches that is causing me to get the charge removed makes the whole visit not worth the hassle. It's a nice environment. I was even lucky enough to squeeze in a hydro-dermabrasion jet peel. It was fabulous and refreshing -- really made the travel weary skin rejuvenated.
