Nails redone.
Abigail O.

On a whim, my sister and I had wanted an impromptu mani/ pedi. We called around and found A' vie. They went above and beyond in customer service as to call 2 mail techs in to do our nails. The nail dip (ombré) took a while to remove. She was patient to remove them and handled my nails with care. The nails lasted the whole time minus growth. I'd rebooked a other appointment and nails can put great yet again. If you are thinking your going to get a hand massage after, that doesn't happen at this salon. I miss the little massages but I'd take better nails than a little massage.

I've been a patient at Southwest Michigan Dermatology for many years. My doctor, Dr. Mohney, is…read moreextremely thorough and super nice guy. During my latest skin check visit a few weeks ago, he found a mole that had an odd shape, they took a biopsy, and a week later called and told me it was benign. Thank goodness. I have in the past had precancerous moles removed and Dr. Mohney and staff were professional and treated me with kindness and respect. It can be hard to get an appointment if you are not a current patient, as they are extremely busy and everyone is concerned about skin cancer. But I understand they are hiring new PAs, which will help ease the pressure.

I would never recommend Southwest Michigan Dermatology to anyone. Their office is chaotic. In the…read moreentry lobby, two TV screens going with different information, two sources of different music, as well as a recording of ocean waves playing! (Maybe trying to instill some calm over all of the other stimulation). It just added to the stress vibe. Every 30 seconds assistants call in a patient, two entry doors constantly opening and closing. Obviously, they are moving as many patients as quickly as possible. I was there for a pyogenic granuloma on the sole of my foot - similar to a blood blister but worse. Although the doctor who saw me was efficient, it was a no frills system with no preparation. He looked at my foot, told me what they were going to do - right then and there. He left the room and an assistant came in to numb my foot with Lidocaine injections. I've never experienced this before and there was no warning as to how painful it would be. There was no initial pre-numbing of the surface area, just 5 incredibly painful injections around the site. I've since researched, and there are topical lidocaine options to apply prior to giving the extremely painful injections. Apparently SMD can't waste the time making that an option for patient comfort. The doc came back in and did a curettage and cautery, taking samples for biopsy and I assumed, removing all of the lesion tissue. It all happened very quickly - In spite of the trauma of the experience, I hoped this would at least take care of the issue. It unfortunately did not, as the lesion returned as if nothing happened. Larger and more painful. I knew that I would absolutely not go back to SMD and have instead gone to Forefront Dermatology. Forefront was calm, collected and competent - office environment, staff and medical personnel. They assessed my lesion and told me that due to the fact that the granuloma came back and is so large, I will most likely need plastic surgery to accurately remove all of the tissue.

I've nearly exclusively gone to George the last 11 years of my life and I will continue to make the…read morelong drive to see him! Dealing with a hair disorder, it has always been difficult feeling beautiful and trying to look the way I want. What I love most about this salon is the fact that I can always come in with a goal and leave looking exactly how I want to. He will meet every client with understanding while giving you his honest options and feedback. It's easy to see how knowledgeable he is in this profession and his passion for it shines through. He dyed my hair for my wedding in August and helped add thickness back to my hair where it was missing. This allowed me to have the boho hair of my dreams!

George seems angry when I visit. I am a public school teacher. I had not been to a hairdresser…read moresince 2010 and before that, once in high school. I like my hair, I just don't go to hairdressers. I decided to get a trim to even out my hair and someone told me that George removes mineral build up from hair. I needed someone to do those things. So , I booked an appointment with George. I usually get treated nicely, as I a polite and respectful person. Well, George was cold and excessively rude. He spent a lot of time yelling at me about the unevenness of the length of my hair, how he didn't like that I had used a boxed dye, and he said to stop using clips in my hair, I don't use clips in my hair, though. He was an odd one and unpleasant. He did remove the mineral color from my hair. It was blonde after all. He told me he was going to cut my long hair to 3 inches in length, because it needed it. No, I don't want that. No, it will turn to an inch of frizz, buddy. Just a trim and removal of the minerals from the hard water. I was happy with the length and I like it like that. He told me to come back in for a touch up and to get my roots done. I went back in about 6 months later, because he told he would do the roots in a few months. George accused me of using a box dye! I did not, that's why I came in. I told him it might be the chlorine in my inground pool. I said it could be when I was working on my farm and scratched up my legs, arms and head from clearing brush and vines. I suspected I had got into poison ivy, so I used a mix of water and hydrogen peroxide on my cuts. George acted very mean and his blue haired co worker both told me off for using the peroxide mix on my cuts on my scalp. He kept telling me off, and acted like he was possessed by demons. His coworker was also in on yelling at me so I asked her if she was okay. She flipped out. I told her that was enough. I should have left. So, instead of doing my roots, George darkened my blonde hair and kept verbally assaulting me. He made my hair dark, out of revenge. For this he charged me $145.00 I called him to tell him I just came in for a root touch up, but he dyed my hair a dishwater dark blondish brown. He told me off again, and I decided that he is not to be trusted. I will never go back to George again. He might be drunk or on drugs, but he has very bizarre, mean uncouth, rude and unprofessional behavior. He and his blue haired employee give off demonic vibes. If you are a spiritual person DO NOT GO TO the George Salon. George burned my scalp twice with his aggressive hair drying style, he is not good at blow drying hair at all. I have the same blow dryer at home and actually, I don't blow my hair anyway, I get it that he wanted to blow dry it, but he sticks it right on your scalp like he's insane. Guess what? I found a wonderful new hair stylist. She is kind, thoughtful, good with people, and we got along because we are both kind, spiritual, God loving, and beautiful people. She listened to what I wanted and did exactly what I asked her to do. I'm a blonde, again! I love my hair again. She didn't yell at me when I told her about attending to my injuries from working on my farm. Actually, I made a new friend in her. We are going to target practice, we're going out to Karaoke and I am so glad I found her. She didn't burn my scalp with a blow dryer, like George did. We talked forever, and I am so glad I didn't go back to see the cut-throat George again. She charged me only $75.00 and I gave her a $25.00 tip, so all in all, she did exactly what I wanted and I gave her $100.00. She was so worth it! One of my daughters that went there said that George just talks about how big his penis is, ( People say it probably isn't big at all, if he's bragging to your daughter about the size) and she said he talks about himself the whole time. I have the money to go anywhere I want, I am blessed by God. I love my life. I rarely find anyone that acts as mean and rude as George and his employee. It is not a good environment. I will never go back to be abused by George and his evil employee lady. Find someone else to go to. This is my advice, this was my awful experience. I did have fun with the other customers, we were kind to each other and I usually get along with everyone, so we were laughing and joking and having a good time, amid the scary behavior of George and his employee. He overcharges and his work is subpar, so the added anger, shouting, and mean behavior he exhibits is not worth it. If you are thinking of going, do yourself a favor and find a more professional, kinder stylist who will treat you well. Heed my warning, it's a hell hole. God bless you for reading this. God bless us one and all. Stay away from crazy George!
