I can't recommend Willing Hearts consignment shop. Conducting fair business is foreign to them. Their pricing appears to be way too high. I also suspect some of their "volunteers" are working there to take the better items leaving their shelves depleted. read more

I want to start of by saying that I have been shopping here for about 18 years. Last week I went there, took a friend with me that has never been there before. We go to the jewelry section, ask to see the rings. The elderly lady behind the counter was super nice and cooperative. Unbeknownst to us, she was not suppose to let us see the entire tray of rings at a time, which she did. Then comes Tatyana (Russian/Eastern European lady) being rude, condescending, and unprofessional (to the staff and us, the customers) as she raises her voice at the elderly lady saying loudly: "One ring at a time, one ring at a time!" I responded and said that no one told us that and continued shopping. She then keeps walking around the store looking at us in an unpleasant manner. Then we go to check out and another kind elderly lady was there to check us out, but then comes Tatyana again to 'help' as the elderly lady wasn't moving at a pace that's appropriate according to Tatyana. I spent a bit over $60 and my friend a bit over $200. When we were done checking out, Tatyana starts clapping her hands to dismiss/shoo us away (like animals) from the counter while saying: "Okay ladies, okay ladies!" I reiterate, I have been shopping here for 18 years, but am not sure I can/will return to this store, as I have never been as demeaned in my life. I know that the people running the store are volunteers, but it is still a business, and the volunteers should be trained accordingly. read more

What a pain! They make it very hard to consign. Now you have to pay $20. to "join". I have been consigning with them for many years and feel I shouldn't have to pay this new fee. Would have made more sense to charge only new consigners. Must come only certain days and need to make appointment & still have to wait in line. If u come during the limited hours for non reservations the line is even longer. Payment percentage is low and not competitive with other shops. Not worth the hassle. But the items for sale are varied and excellent. Have bought there and never disappointed. read more

I shop here almost every day! You never now what's going to show up! Things come and go and you need to pay attention to there schedule. Things go on sale after a couple of weeks. What can be consigned changes with the seasons. There are great things to be found. read more

I'm a big fan of thrift and consignment shops and certainly like to support local places like this one. I'm happy to donate, too, but I often have very good clothing in good condition that I'd rather sell. Many years ago when I lived in NJ, I consigned a lot of clothes here (and bought a lot too!) and did very well. But when the woman who expertly directed the store for years and years retired, the management and conduct of this place really went downhill. I respect the fact that they are all volunteers-- hardworking volunteers -- but they still need to do things correctly; it is not an excuse to lose or not track clients' consignment items. For example, over the past 10 months I made 3 trips from NYC to NJ, carrying pounds and pounds of clothing, and consigned at least 60 good quality garments -- which have nearly all disappeared into the abyss of Willing Hearts. Over time, I received only ONE payment of appx $10, with NO indication of what item(s) sold. I must assume that ALL THOSE CLOTHES HAVE BEEN TAKEN AS A DONATION, WITHOUT ANY INFORMATION PROVIDED TO ME. Therefore, I couldn't even identify which item(s) were sold vs donated, which makes it challenging for me to claim a donation on my taxes. My mother has also consigned there for many many years. She has also had problems. Recently she consigned a box of items, and provided a batch of self-addressed, stamped envelopes for payments -- the envelopes seem to have disappeared too! When she notified the volunteers, they said there is no evidence of her SASEs! Do they have ANY systems at all in place??!! It really isn't worth consigning here -- just a frustrating experience. read more

I loved coming here! I loved the selection you could get good used items at a decent price. The prices sky rocketed to ridiculous amounts. $12 for a porcelain vase you get at the Goodwill for $2. A glass bowl from Walmart was $15 they even had a dollar store plate they were asking for $10. New management maybe? I hate to say this but the woman that volunteer there are snarky and I had heard them speaking about the clients that come in there. Your not in high school girls! I see the mean girls stays with you till Senior Status Unfortunately. There is a gentleman with a bread behind the cash register he is delightful. Unfortunately since they think the items are so worth the high price tags I won't be making the drive over there anymore. What a treasure. Women's clothing and any household or decorative item you can imagine, and then some. Some high end, new or gently used. Half price and $2.00 sales weekly! And all for great causes administered by the Rotary. read more

This is a largish store right on Bloomfield Ave with metered parking along the street and parking in back. It seems to be handicapped accessible too in the sense that there is no step to get into the store. Of course, there is the curb by the street parking. It's lovely to "close the loop" and keep things out of landfills, save money, find treasures, earn some bucks too and of course support the Rotary Club and all its charities as well that they support. I've bought many things over the years and I want to thank all the hardworking volunteers. I have noticed that now the system is computerized but often the computer system is not working properly. I hope this issue gets resolved soon. This sometimes results in longer wait time to check out. Again, I realize that all the staff are volunteers and work hard and that there are many consignors, consignments to track, donators and donations to properly attend. I have not yet consigned anything to this store. They have nearly everything from designer handbags to kitchenware to clothing but only women's clothing. Some furniture as well. There are all kinds of other items too. I will be back. read more

Over the past couple of years this shop has gone through some huge changes for the better. They have revitalized the look and layout of the store and have installed a computer system to help them keep track of the huge volume of merchandise that goes in and out on a regular basis. They have new volunteer management. "Dr. Sue" takes care of the operation and general management of the store and "Susie Mac" manages the volunteer staff. They seem to make a perfect team. The volunteers I have spken with when I am in the store seem much more energized and interested in what's going on and they are excited about the new look of the store. They are also much more helpful than they were years ago. I don't consign items for sale but I do love to browse and I find very uniqure gifts at very good prices there. I've been in seval thrift stores in North Jersey, both the ones that sell high fashion stuff and others that are more down to earth. Willing Hearts seems to have a nice blend of items and it's my favorite of the bunch. The Rotary Club of the Caldwells does so much for the community and this is a major source of their funding. I always want to love this charity consignment shop, and have been a member for three years. But they are very picky about what they want in their shop and gossip about the people in the store none stop. To consign you usually have to wait an hour and you hear over and over again the volunteers bad mouthing the people that come in. They don't understand they are a used consignment shop and really just want new or antique items. I really support their cause and what they are trying to do but what the volunteers say, and the rejection of items due to not in brand new condition is just silly. Not worth the bother. It is just less time consuming and easier to donate your items to a charity. read more
