The shop owner and her staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgable, and helped us a lot during our experience! The clothes are all reasonably priced, well labeled, and easy to look through. Sadly, they are few and far between, so I was elated to discover Vintage Alley during a recent online search and having visited the store for the first time last weekend, I can safely say, it does not disappoint. Tucked away on the corner of Bloomfield Ave, along Verona's main drag, Vintage Alley is a veritable treasure trove of awesome vintage finds. The layout of the store allows for easy browsing, with an aesthetic that is at once cozy and chic. The merchandise is well-curated and the prices more than reasonable. The clincher for me was the exceptional service I received from Brittany. A major pet peeve of mine is entering a store and feeling pressured to make a purchase. Over the years, I've found that when dealing with small business retailers in particular, customer service often runs the gamut from overbearing to indifferent. Fortunately, I found none of these to be the case at Vintage Alley. From the moment I walked in the store, I felt at ease and appreciated the fact that Brittany made herself available to offer input and assistance when needed, while allowing me to browse at my leisure. Brittany's love of the store--and vintage in general--is evident in her style and in her nature, the latter of which was equal parts warm, enthusiastic, and genuine. I spent an inordinate amount of time debating between two purchases - a tweed blazer or Paganne dress - before finally settling on the latter and never once did I feel rushed or put upon to make up my mind. To be clear, we're talking multiple try-ons and an excessive amount of hemming and hawing in front of a mirror, with nary a complaint. On those occasions when I offered up an apology for essentially acting out the shopping equivalent of a hung jury, Brittany simply invited me to take however long I needed. After putting in more deliberation than the cast of 12 Angry Men, I eventually settled on the dress, which I can't wait to wear. In summation, love my new dress, love Vintage Alley, and can't wait to go back.

We go to the jewelry section, ask to see the rings. The elderly lady behind the counter was super nice and cooperative. Unbeknownst to us, she was not suppose to let us see the entire tray of rings at a time, which she did. Then comes Tatyana (Russian/Eastern European lady) being rude, condescending, and unprofessional (to the staff and us, the customers) as she raises her voice at the elderly lady saying loudly: "One ring at a time, one ring at a time!" I responded and said that no one told us that and continued shopping. She then keeps walking around the store looking at us in an unpleasant manner. Then we go to check out and another kind elderly lady was there to check us out, but then comes Tatyana again to 'help' as the elderly lady wasn't moving at a pace that's appropriate according to Tatyana. I spent a bit over $60 and my friend a bit over $200. When we were done checking out, Tatyana starts clapping her hands to dismiss/shoo us away (like animals) from the counter while saying: "Okay ladies, okay ladies!" I reiterate, I have been shopping here for 18 years, but am not sure I can/will return to this store, as I have never been as demeaned in my life. I know that the people running the store are volunteers, but it is still a business, and the volunteers should be trained accordingly.

Still, what is the reason behind stating the indicated operating hours, only to be closed until an hour after said hours? Despicable!! I called the store to inform them of this inconvenience, only to be hit with automatic voicemail. How incompetent and frustrating, not to mention this being the second time. I will come back later during the day when I'm free. But if this continues, I won't be supporting this business any longer and will encourage friends to follow suit

However, I'm deeply disappointed by the reviewers that have given this place bad reviews. This is a charitable organization that accepts items according to their space, clientele and current stock. What kind of a person gives a charitable organization less than three stars because they wouldn't accept their mom jeans, stained clothes or Thomas Kinkade paintings? I'm sorry bad reviewers, but they (and many other people/organizations) do not want your 1985 Paula Abdul sweatshirt or your Suzanne Somers Somersize VHS. According to the store's website, purchases at this store benefit the uninsured and underinsured at Saint Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Happy Shopping!
