It feels weird writing a review for a retail store, but we had an incredibly positive experience today. We received a wedding gift without a receipt and they worked with us to get us store credit. That alone was going above and beyond, but we talked with 2 sales associates at length - 1 person helped us with pans, 1 person (Pedro) helped us with knives. Both were knowledgeable, very nice, spent tons of time with us, and even got excited about cooking with us! On top of that, we got some little turkey / dressing bites that they had made at a cooking demonstration just before we arrived! read more

I ordered a lime press online and it arrived broken. I spoke with customer service and they told me to return the broken item and a replacement will be sent immediately. This was 2 weeks ago and it hasn't shipped yet. I called customer service asking why it hasn't shipped. They said, we received your return 4 days ago and it will take another week before we will begin your shipping process. This is why Amazon will end up being the only shipping service anyone uses. read more

So now I am out hundreds and been on the phone with them for hours trying to get it resolved. For a company that is as big as William Sonoma I would expect better service. It wasn't a great experience. The woman who brought out the items was ok but when I called for curbside pickup but they really seemed to want me to change my mind and come inside. When I arrived, I called the number for the store and there was a menu option for curbside. Great! When it connected and I said I was there for curbside, the woman at the store ask there was no one in so I could come in. That was actually a lie... I had watched two people who had parked moments after me enter the store. I told her I'd rather it be delivered curbside, she asked my name, and then as she was hanging up the phone was complaining to someone (ostensibly her coworkers) that I wanted them to deliver curbside. Another staff member delivered it and she had a friendly demeanor, but really... if you're going to complain about your customers, make sure they can't hear you. read more

Oh man, do I love Williams Sonoma, but this location is not up to par. I worked at Williams Sonoma Old Orchard ten years ago and remember how important quality, attentive and friendly client service was. Unfortunately, this location does not pass the test, or standards have changed. I purchased pans from this location that needed to be returned because anytime they were touched or wiped, grey substance would wipe off. It was really bizarre -- two different pan styles with the same issue. One was not used, the other maybe a dozen times. I called corporate and they said I needed to request a refund from the store for a vendor defect because it was purchased in-store. I called the store in advance to my arrival to give them a heads up. Upon walking in, I was greeted, in which I told the associate my issue and her response was "oh well take a look around we have other pans for an exchange." First issue -- how about show me the pans rather suggest I take a look around? So I decided rather than exchange pans (since staff didn't think it was important to show me my options) I went straight to the registers to request the refund. I showed the new associate the issue and he seemed surprised as the substance was coming off the used and unused pan -- it was NOT a user default. As he was processing a return another associate came over to lecture me on using olive oil on the pans, referencing the "smoke point." This is NOT an issue with olive oil, it is an issue with whatever is coated on the pans. I didn't expect to be lectured. Overall not a great experience, so I went to Sur La Table for new pans. They were glad to help! read more

We went here because they had advertised a free cooking class. It turned out to be a demonstration with about 50 other people standing around a small counter top and only the people right in front could see anything. There was a mirror that should have been tilted so that we all had a chance to see what was going on, but they never moved it, so it was useless. I was not about to stand around for an hour and a half so I walked around the store. The store itself is large with a very nice selection of just about anything you would need for a kitchen or dining area. They had some beautiful dishes for spring and Easter, any size pots and pans you could ever want, a large selection of Harry Potter themed merchandise and unique accessories to help make cooking and entertaining less stressful. Since we were lured there under false pretenses, and I personally find their prices to be higher than other stores, I would not shop here unless I was looking for something specific. On the plus side, they do have a parking lot, and parking is premium around here. read more

Hours in Yelp are wrong. And they don't have their hours posted on the door. On Weekdays, they close at 7pm, not 8pm. Help your customers out and post your dam hours. I got there after they closed bc of the Yelp error, but they will still in the store. I just needed to pick up an online order, but no can do. Couldn't have been less helpful or understanding. It allows you to imagine family gatherings or fabulous cocktail parties. The inventory is dynamic and in abundance. Whatever you are looking for, you'll find several choices. On my last visit, I went for a birthday gift for a friend and left with that gift plus several other gifts for upcoming birthdays and even Christmas! I also found something lovely for myself. A woman was helping me at first and then passed me off to David. I LOVED David's customer service skills!! He was so warm and friendly. On my next visit, I'll be sure to look for David. Set in a tiny strip mall, parking is super easy. In the city, that's a huge positive factor. read more

I bought two Elevated Craft Cocktail Shakers today from this store, when I got home I realized that even though I was charged full price, without being told by the clerk I was actually given two used cocktail shakers. Both the boxes had their seals broken, one had a scuff and one of them even had "DISPLAY" written on the barcode affixed to the bottom of the shaker. Now I live an hour away from this store and something makes me think they're not going to send a clerk to pick this up, or give me a UPS return label with a scheduled pick up. Always remember that if they do this to you, and dont want to schedule a pickup, you can call up your credit card company and initiate a charge back. read more

They should be careful to advise all buyers of this and have a large sign upon entry and a larger sign at checkout about the policy. The first person I called for help was a little snippy when I asked for the company ph # indicating he had to google it, which I took to also indicate that I could easily google it as well. As a formed WS GM I am so sad to see how much this company's customer service service standards have changed. This location is horrible. I gave it many chances (because I still love the product) but yesterday was the very last straw. As a customer I am not acknowledged nor helped, staff is poorly trained and not helpful when addressed with questions. Store manager had me sit in front of him for the longest time -without acknowledging me- while on a phone call (which he chose to take rather than assist me -right there- after THREE other associates could nor help. SHAME on you Williams Sonoma on Fremont... I would not be surprised , nor sorry, if you went out of business soon given your lack of customer service. read more

Customer Service does not even exist in any of the brand stores like pottery barn, rejuvenation or west elm. They do not stand behind their products which are not always the best quality. Being put on hold when they don't want to deal with you is NOT good business or even good behavior. People working in the store have an attitude. I truly wish I could leave negative stars. Three months ago we wanted to exchange a few damaged items and return a few from our wedding registry. Upon seeing six items for "return" Daniel did nothing to hide his look of disgust that he had to handle this situation. After being there over an hour we were told we would have to come back tomorrow to exchange/ purchase new items as the gift cards will take 24 hours. We returned the next day only to find out we were missing about $400 of gift cards and spent another 2 hours in the store trying to remediate the situation. Fast forward three months and countless hours later and Williams Sonoma is still holding our money hostage. Corporate Williams Sonoma told us that Daniel incorrectly entered our information and that our gift cards were sent out but essentially to nowhere as our information was not entered correctly on 5 of the 6 returns. In an effort to track them down, Williams Sonoma contacted each of the individuals who purchased these gifts for us and indicated we returned the items which was truly embarrassing. Additionally, the three damaged items we wanted to exchange were casually put back on the shelf for some poor unsuspecting next customer. Many many hours both in store and on the phone have not resulted in anything other than our gift cards being "under review". The customer service received has been absolutely appalling and we have since deleted our registry and have had several other of our engaged friends do the same to avoid this horrific experience. Veronica the store manager has done absolutely nothing other then somewhat laugh it off with an "omg im sooo sorry". The only saving grace in the store was Janis who has spent a lot of effort trying to remediate this situation but unfortunately this is out of her control. Aside from this situation a cup we received from William Sonoma broke the first time we used it - literally just cracked in half while sitting on the coffee table untouched. Williams Sonoma quality has greatly plummeted along with their customer service. read more

I really like this WS. This is a nice big store with a huge selection of products. The employees are extremely helpful and knowledgable. On several occasions, they have helped me decide between different brands of similar products, and I haven't been disappointed in any of the recommendations they have made. They have helped me with both larger purchases of Knife sets, and Food Processors, and smaller items such as mixing bowls, and veggie peelers. It is very easy for me to get to this location, just off of the Red Line, North and Clyborn. I have also drove several times, and never had a problem getting a spot in their parking lot. This location is one of two that offer a full cooking school. (They are different objectives, skill levels, and prices.) I am also a HUGE fan of the Free Technique classes on Mondays. If you attend, you also get a 10% discount on all of your purchase in the store after the class! I have attended the free classes several times. I've learned about Thanksgiving sides, techniques for cooking eggs, Super Bowl appetizers. Classes are about an hour, and very casual. read more

I'm incredibly disappointed in the customer service at this location, and I highly recommend taking your money across the street to Crate & Barrel where they are much more respectful of the people who walk in their door. I recently purchased several items off of a friend's Williams-Sonoma wedding registry (one part of the gift online, the other part "in store pickup" at this location). When I arrived to pickup the gift, I also brought the gift that I had purchased online so that I could have it wrapped and keep the packaging cohesive. When I approached the saleswoman about needing the online purchase gift wrapped, she immediately questioned whether I had stolen the item. She kept saying "I'm going to need to see the receipt" for the gift I had brought into the store (which was still in the brown shipping box, so obvious that I hadn't just grabbed it from a shelf). Her tone was incredibly rude and skeptical, as if I had just grabbed it off the shelf. I was about to tell her to just check the security video of me walking in with it, but I didn't feel like arguing. She essentially berated me to find an email on my phone that proved I hadn't stolen the item... which took a good 5 minutes, was in front of other people at the counter, and was humiliating. Even after I told her I didn't need it wrapped any longer (just to get out of the situation) she still insisted on seeing it. Now here's the deal. I'm a brand new, first time mom who looked slightly disheveled (it was 97 degrees in Chicago that day so my hair was frizzy) and I still have some baby weight to lose. But this saleswoman couldn't stop staring me down like I didn't deserve to be in her polished store. I'm sorry, but I just had a baby, haven't slept since then... and could do without the judgment. After all, I'm still prioritizing running around getting shower gifts for friends - so I can't be that bad if a person, right?! It was absolutely clear that she was judging me based on my less than polished appearance, and treating me like a criminal when in reality all I had done was supported their store by buying a few things. I can assure you, it will be the last time. The whole experience was very "Pretty Woman/Julia Roberts" and if I wasn't so upset I'd make my triumphant return. "big mistake. HUGE" ... but seriously, it was a huge mistake. Treat people with respect and empathy, Willams-Sonoma. The world needs more of it. read more

Review for furniture only, not kitchenware: They don't have much of the furniture on the floor so while on the website things look beautiful, I personally find it hard to buy without seeing/sitting in person. I was surprised when I walked in their was no greeting, welcome, nothing. When I did go up to the counter, two people just turned around as if not wanting to help. Most uncomfortable situation I've been in a retail environment in a long time. Let me paint the picture first - the sales associates to customers ratio was pretty even at 6 to 5 Last night I went to pick up a couple bottles of cocktail mixer. I wasn't ordering anything, I wasn't exchanging anything, I was simply buying two-fricken-cocktail-mixers. After walking up to the register where 3 associates were up front assisting 3 patrons, while a 4th was typing away on the back register, and a 5th and 6th was walking around the store, doing something - but definitely looking engrossed with their activity, I stood waiting to be assisted next. Moments later another woman holding a pan came up parallel to me, but hidden behind a display - unsure if she saw me waiting and just randomly decided to chill there, but whatev's - how long could this take when there's several people working here. And that's when I was wrong. See, all 3 patrons apparently were doing some difficult transactions that were taking some serious time to complete. There were several moments where I considered just putting back the ridiculously expensive (but holy cow the pom-blueberry mixers are DE-licious), drinks, but alas, I don't live near a W-S, so I held my ground. FINALLY an associate completed one of the longest transaction of the century and motioned me over to the use the back register, instead of the front. Sweet, no big deal, I'll just walk around the sid--- "WAIT, she wasn't next, the other woman was!!".... Yes fellow Yelp reviewers, one of the associates, an older woman who clearly was unaware I was standing in line prior to pan woman, whom was STILL in the middle of her own transaction with a patron, yelled out to me and the guy trying to assist me. I've never felt so compelled to drop everything I was about to buy and leave. I've worked in retail. I've seen mixed up lines, and confusion several times, but I know the best way of dealing with that situation was not how that woman handled it. Yes, lets yell and make everyone feel uncomfortable. SO, as I completed my mixer purchase (that took all of 3 minutes and was handled very well by the man helping me, I would give him 5 stars), I left disgusted. read more

Williams-Sonoma is like a big bowl of comforting Mac-N-FauxCheese for me! It's my go-to place that automatically lifts my spirits...and their mixes flavor my spirits quite nicely (the Lemondrop mix is outrageous). This is the first time I've been to WS since we've moved to Chicago and I couldn't be happier that it is right down the road from me. Little did I know, I was getting a Vitamix for my birthday on this visit. We were greeted warmly, not overbearingly, as soon as we walked in. The sweetest associate came over and asked if we had any questions; so began the inquisition. She was well versed in product-knowledge and was able to highlight each brand of blender. After asking our personal needs we ended at the same conclusion...the Vitamix. Without missing a beat she jumped in and offered to make us a smoothie with the very product we were considering. Of course we took her up on the offer. WOW! Not only did we get an awesome smoothie and demonstration she also showed us how clean up was a breeze. Good customer service goes a long way in my book. Great customer service, like this visit, makes me a customer for life. I recommend this location for friends and family and I will continue to purchase from this store. read more

This store is amazing to walk into. It is one of the cleanest stores I have set foot in. Everywhere you look, you'll find things you "need/want". The staff is amazing, I have never had any problems getting help from a staff member. Another really awesome benefit about this location is the Cooking School they offer. There are only two locations that offer the large hands on classes, and this store is one of them. Also on Monday nights they offer a FREE technique class that is great to attend if you are looking to expand your kitchen skills. read more

I have been here twice with my boyfriend, and both times have been near closing hours on a Friday (in our defense, we are new to the area and didn't realize the closing hours). I have worked in retail before, and I can always tell how anxious some sales associates can be to rush customers out around closing time, but we have not run into that problem here. We always have a good experience, and when we left we were shocked to find out they were actually closing for the night (both times haha). That says a lot about them and their attention to customer service. Overall, from what I have seen the staff is pretty friendly and not abrasive like some of the other reviewers claim. In particular, there is a woman that always works there named Melissa who is very sweet and helpful. Both times we bought more than we planned on spending too! (Oops) read more

At some point in life, I had to upgrade from eating with plastic utensils, paper plates, and used coffee cups from Starbucks. That's when I took a drive over to this spot. I was very impressed with the help from one of the sales people. She was patient, and explained the differences in the cutlery. She took her time with explaining proper care for the knives I was going to buy. Additionally, I was able to pop in and out pretty quickly. read more

My fiance and I registered here for our wedding registry and encountered some technical issues with getting the registry actually set up online. One of the store associates, Preston, walked us through setting up the registry and even went as far as calling me a few hours later to ensure everything had been set up properly. My fiancé and I went in to William Sonoma on Sunday to research as a place for our wedding registry. There was a table towards the back of store covered with tableware for purchase and a sign for a 20% off dining event. We liked four bowls on this table and since they appeared on sale, we went to go check out. The woman at the register was friendly and when she totaled up the items for the full retail price, I pointed to the 20% off sign. She walked over to pick up the sign and called over a manager to investigate. The manager looked the bowls up on her phone, telling us it was full price and that the sign was meant for furniture only, which there wasn't any in sight. The manager then immediately walked away without acknowledging that the placement of the sign was misleading or apologizing for the confusion. My fiancé and I were fine paying full price for the bowls, but because of the poor customer service, we didn't not want to give them our business and likely will not do our wedding registry at this store. This incident bothered me even after I left the store and I now have a negative association with the store. read more
