It all made sense when I found that they have a design area upstairs. Downstairs they have various kitchen items and gadgets. An appointment is required to talk about cabinetry and get some estimates. I met with Marnie, and she was fantastic. I had Opinions on what I did and did not want and she seemed pleased with that and that I had actually done the research on the cabinetry options she'd sent, so I came in knowing precisely which ones I wanted. It definitely made the appointment go more quickly since I already knew which door styles and colors I was interested in. She talked with me about some of the technical aspects (e.g., framed vs. frameless vanities, top mount vs. under mount sinks, etc.) and they had various examples on display. They also had most of the door styles to have a better idea of what they'd look like. For the bathroom in which the vanity would be installed, the options here were more than we wanted to spend. I'd like to consider an update for the main bathroom, though, and would look to AKB for that job. The companies they work with have really beautiful products. Honestly, it makes me want to do more remodeling (main bathroom! Kitchen!) because wandering around the showroom made me want everything! I'm probably not quite that much of a masochist given the construction that would entail, but....

First of all, I have to confess to being a great fan of Kohler products. I have purchased items…read morefrom them for over the past 30 years - everything for the home from the kitchen, to the bathrooms, the family room, and basement. I love their designs and innovation, their products are well-made, and even though sometimes they break down over time, they are usually reliable - albeit expensive. So when we realized that we needed to do a remodel on our master bathroom, we were confronted with several decisions - (1) budget for a full remodel? (2) a partial remodel with the exact products we needed? (3) could it be done within a particular timeframe or put this off until next year? We did some research and discovered that the "Kohler Signature Store by Studio41" was the only place near us that carried the entire Kohler line and staff that focused exclusively on their product who could offer suggestions, guidance, and information that we needed to make an informed decision. At Studio41 we met Alicia Schafer, a Senior Designer, who immediately assessed our needs, took the time to show us designs, introduce concepts and ideas that would complement our home while offering the best value, as well as address concerns about purchasing a package for a full remodel or phased construction. Given the availability and design of certain Kohler products, we were able to determine that the phased approach would better suit our needs. Alicia was very knowledgeable, patient and considerate in helping us make our choices. She addressed technical issues pertaining to a particular product and how it may have aligned with our situation by doing the research and providing us with the correct specifications. She did not speculate, ensuring that everything was in order and as advertised. We made our decision, placed the order and she offered to help in any way she could, aside from notifying us once our order arrived. She provided us an approximate window of when the products would be delivered. After several weeks our order finally arrived. Alicia worked with us to have the items delivered on time, which arrived well packaged, secured and labeled, on a pallet and placed in a convenient place for our contractors to access them. Now, this is where things get tricky: Our contractor, inadvertently installed the drawer pulls on our vanity cabinet incorrectly. We determined that he did this because Kohler included only "short" screws with the drawer pulls that would only accommodate single-wall drawers rather than the separate drawer-fronts on this Kohler model. This particular placement would eventually cause a misalignment and drawer- front failure because the stresses of use are placed only on the drawer front and not on the drawer. We also discovered that an optional vanity cabinet drawer that we ordered would not fit - not because of the design of the drawer itself, but because the plumbing in our home adhered to a building code that configured the drain in a manner contrary to products that comply with a more modern code. We contacted Alicia, told her of the problem, which she understood and offered a complete refund once the item was returned to Studio41. On the day we returned the drawer, Alicia happened to be there. She immediately processed the returned item and had it credited to our account. It was at that point we raised the issue about the drawer-fronts. She was incredulous that the wrong screws had been included with the drawers and there were some concerns about the competence of our contractors. Nevertheless, after we discussed this issue at some length, we realized that we were at an impasse: Who is responsible? The customer? Studio 41? The contractor? Is Kohler responsible for not including the proper hardware? Would this require the full replacement of drawer-fronts and hardware? Alicia, after some discussion with Zack(?), offered to replace the drawer-fronts on six (6) vanity cabinet drawers and include the correct sized screws. She stated that they would place the order and they would arrive in a reasonable period of time. We received the replacement drawer fronts within a matter of a couple of weeks. To be clear, Alicia and Studio41 could have stuck by the "corporate" line, maintained that Kohler was not responsible, that our contractors should have used better judgment and acquired the correct sized screws before attempting to install the drawer pulls. But they recognized our frustration and that perhaps Kohler personnel failed to include screws for the drawer pulls that were required for that drawer design. We appreciate the professionalism and understanding displayed in an unusual situation in which - at least this time - full consideration was given to the customer, their happiness, and satisfaction over what could have been a standard response of "buyer beware". Kudos to Studio41 and Alicia Schafer! We will be making future purchases and recommendations!

Located at the end of one of the hallways in the lower level of the old post office, this place is totally magic and will convince you that you need two or three ovens in your kitchen and a gigantic refrigerator that matches the wall decor! Full disclosure, we were going here to drool at the ovens more than anything, however we came out with a good understanding of why the brand does what they do, and many of the things they offer. We learn that everything is a standard size, 24 or 30 inches across, so that you can interchange many of the items. It makes sense, was just something we never heard before. The breath of offerings they have is pretty incredible and the gal who helped us kama Sara, was very knowledgeable. A lot of the stuff does the selling by itself, but she definitely knew the high points to hit and was super low key about it. It was nice to feel like she was just telling us about it rather than selling it to us. The full kitchen and full bar set ups were quite impressive, and apparently they have monthly cooking demonstrations where someone will actually make you food on the item you are looking to purchase. Pretty sweet deal in our opinions. The most impressive thing we saw was the steam convection oven, which reports to be able to cook phyllo dough wrapped ice cream without melting the ice cream. If we'd actually seen that in person I may have just bought it there and tried to install it in my car. The informational stuff that they have available was very good for planning purposes and the set up here is very conducive to actually seeing what things look like in a variety of different kitchen layouts. How AND Why did we work from June 2026 - September 1, 2026 and not 1 cabinet can be shown as belonging to me as we designed and agreed upon?? This feels every bit of scammy. Why? She'll continue to work with the scamming Contractors. She wrote "yes, we recevied payment to the chat" when 9/3/2026 she explained it was only $500 versus saying ** I received partial payment ** I received an initial payment but FYI these cabinets can't and won't be done until we receive full payment of $5500. She said her manager said we may not deal with him but anyone who hears this story including the cops got the sense they'll continue on as they are working together. No matter who's harmed or stolen from ... they'll do business. #allegedly/lejdlē/Allegedly means that something is claimed to have happened or been done, but it has not yet been proven true per Cambridge dictionary. We worked with Lien for our guest bathroom remodel. This was our first major remodel where we hired…read morean external contractor to do the work; the contractor recommended J&D for getting as many parts for our remodel as possible. This turned out to be a great recommendation! There were a few issues with the tub and toiler we got, but these were manufacturer issues and not anything caused by J&D. However, J&D corrected the issues immediately and went to bat for us with the manufacturer, so there were no costs incurred to us and only a very minor delay to our project. Overall, we'll definitely go back to J&D for future remodels and hope to work again with Lien in particular.

I did some cost comparison with a couple of the larger wholesale bath and kitchen retailers in Chicago, and the inventory at J&D was more what I was looking for and best value. Lien was very patient with my MANY questions, I was trying to recreate an image from a brochure. Having never done a project like this, I was extremely nervous. The resulting vanity, top, and faucet, is perfect. It's beautiful (even our guests were impressed), gave us more storage space and sturdy enough to serve as another station for toddler handwashing and morning tooth brushing.
