Another great class! Hanging out with a good friend and my favorite chef. Priceless. Beautiful, full menu for cooking in Portugal. I am still stuffed. The piri piri chicken made the room smoky. Those spices and peppers had us coughing. The potato croquettes were a creamy, cheesy success and the brussels sprouts were killer. First time having them with chorizo. The flavor profile was amazing. Didn't really care for the egg tarts. Overall, a beautiful FUN class! There was one person at each table celebrating a birthday and Chef Eric made it special by adding a candle.

This was my first time taking a baking class at Sur La and I had a great experience. I took the summer macaron baking class where they taught us to bake s'mores and cherry cheesecake macarons. The class size was small and we were split up in groups of 3 or 4 with a total of 3 groups. We had two instructors, Eric and Diamond. Both were great and paid close attention to all groups. They were very funny and interactive. We made all the different elements were made from scratch, which was interesting. My only complain was that the class ran for longer than promised. While booking it said that it was a 2 hour long class, however, upon arriving Eric mentioned that the class would be 3 hrs. The class actually ran for 3.5 hours and we all were too tired at the end of it. Eric also over baked one batch of our macarons and refused to acknowledge it. But overall, I did have fun and thought that it was a great class. I also do think that the class is a great value for money and the selection of the desserts was appropriate for the season. Another plus is that we had a ton of macarons left over to take home.

We did a cooking class making beef wellington and it was SO MUCH FUN and SOOOOOOO delicious. Our instructor, Mimi was awesome and it was incredibly easy to follow along. They do all of the prep work and cleaning for you, and you work kind of on a team to create the dish. It was a really nice social night, we got to know our table mates. It instilled a lot of confidence in us that we could do it ourselves at home! We both learned about cooking techniques that we didn't realize before. At the end, our meal we created together was delicious. We loved this experience because you're getting a high end meal for less of the cost of what it would be at a nice restaurant, and you get to do it yourself and meet people. We'll definitely do it again.

Located on the 3rd floor of the the Bloomingdale's building on Michigan Ave, it's easy to get lost finding this Sur La Table. Or is that just me? It's one of the smaller Sur La Table stores I've been to, and by the looks of it, it seemed that most of the traffic the store gets is from their cooking class participants. I never would have known of this store's existence if not for the calendar of classes that popped up on my Instagram. Having never made fresh pasta before, I happily snagged a spot for their Rustic Italian class. The menu was fresh pasta and shrimp with a simple sauce made of cherry tomatoes, shallots, garlic, fresh basil, and white wine. Added to the pasta was a beautiful arugula, nectarine, and buratta salad. Making gelato was also part of the demo, but that was essentially watching the chef make the ice cream base and then he later ran it through an ice cream maker during the break. It's a bit of a crapshoot when you take food classes with the masses. I've been stuck with both completely hapless participants and with pretty skilled cooks. It's all okay. Just have a good attitude and go with it. I would take classes here again if something interesting caught my my eye. The class was well organized and the chef very personable and knowledgeable.

3rd floor of the Bloomingdale's business - The image shows the storefront of Sur La Table, a kitchenware retail store, located inside a shopping mall. The store has a sign with illuminated, cursive lettering reading 'Sur La Table' above the entrance. The entrance includes a glass door with a brown frame, flanked by large windows on either side. The interior of the store is partially visible through the open door, and the surrounding mall area has polished flooring and neutral-colored walls.

I love Sur La Table. It's one of my favorite places to shop. My only real disappointment is so many of their items are made in China which seems inferior plus it's Sur La Table... it's French. Let's see more French-made products, other than the beautiful Le Creuset products I love so much. Friendly staff. Plus, did you know they offer cooking classes? Great date-night idea!

Located on Michigan Avenue, this third floor cooking school has an intimate kitchen and kitchen supply area. Students of class get 10% discount for supplies. This was the first time I was student here. I with three others split a chicken, buttered it with thyme, pan fried one side and baked it. The biscuits were mixed and I molded them into four smooth biscuits. Ours was only ones with no wild bulges. The sauces were made for chicken, salad and biscuits. The salad was simply made with arugula and halved grapes. This class is not for low calorie dieters. The meal was remarkable. The secret ingredient was butter, butter, and more butter. Unfortunately diners can't take food home. I would take another class. Parking with validation is $10 for three hours. Afterwards it is $40 or $50.

Store has nice selection of kitchen items. They offer cooking classes as well and give complementary water with mint for customers.

A good quality cooking class with creative recipes that are actually doable at home! Our class was $69 per person, got to book ahead as they prepare the ingredients exactly to the person's enrolled. And no need to take notes - they provide recipes for everything you make. I've been to a few cooking classes before. In general cooking classes are usually either too complex and thus requires constant hand holding or they're woefully basic and boring to those who are more seasoned in cooking. This experience was a happy medium - doable for the total novice and enough excitement for more experienced cooks. My team and I went to Sur La Table for their New England comfort foods cooking event. Daily they usually have three classes, 11am, 1pm and dinner time. The meal was basically easy to prepare which helped because we had folks on our team who have actually never cooked before. Chef Michael was well-trained and works in restaurants in Japan and New York. He loves what he does and is pretty friendly as well. He really seems to enjoy teaching and showing his passion for foods. He demonstrated methods that he used within the restaurants like how to separate eggs, cutting onions and methods he uses that I'll definitely employ at home. I learned how to make a basic custard (didn't actually get to make it myself, but having never made it before it never occurred to me to make it myself). The custard was absolutely wonderful and the best thing that I had that entire week. My team went head to head against another team and we got compliments from the chef. Glad I got his validation for technique. He tried to set afire to my Brandy, but I already cooked it off before he dropped by, so I missed the circus, but I didn't need my eye brows singed. I'll definitely want to do another cooking class with Chef Michael. He even offered an expresso or coffee while I was cooking. Suffice to say, I kept well caffeinated throughout the experience. It's BYOB as well so live it up while you cook with your friends.

I was invited to attend a single's meetup cooking class. I was excited to have attend such wonderful event. I learned so many cool and unique techniques ways of cooking. Our class was taught by the amazing Chef Adam. He was very helpful and gave us some knowledgeable and interesting ways of cooking. Upon everyone's arrival we signed in and took an apron from a basket. The staff had set up along the table some nice chill variety of wines to get the party started and light snacks. After everyone had arrived we were instructed to head over to the sink to wash our hands. The chef and staff members were very attentive and made sure to walk around and lend a hand. The theme of the night was "From Paris With Love" we started out with the Frisee Salad with poached eggs with bacon lardins. Pan roasted chicken breast with fine herbs and whole grain mustard sauce (so very delicious) along with some brown butter mashed potatoes that will have you asking for more. Of course we ended with dessert a French vanilla crème brulee which was amazingly good. Very nice atmosphere, the chef and his staff were very engaging. Everyone in the class was offered a 10% discount to shop at the store. The store has so many cool and different brands of cooking utensils. Very reasonable prices. Before, the class ended the chef raffled off for 2 people to come back and take a class for you and a guest. I didn't win bummer but it's ok because I was able to experience a wonderful time with some fun and enjoyable new people. Good Food and Wine. Thanks Chef Adam and his staff for teaching us some cool cooking skills. Very professional and skilled trained cooks.

My husband lucked into a free homemade ravioli workshop. Our group of 5 strolled in ready to dominate the experience, but quickly realized that the cooking class is more suited to groups of 2 or 3. Too much standing around for our group. Nevertheless, the chef was very kind and helped us with steps we missed. We could somewhat go at our own pace. Our meal was good, and the ambience was enhanced by the Santa Claus outside the store. In the store itself, we enjoyed samples and browsing the wide selection of kitchen goods. The knives look beautiful and you can find almost anything here. With the cooking class, participants can enjoy a discount at the store.

The image shows a retail store interior with a metal stand holding many white coffee mugs with black lettering, arranged in a spiral pattern. The store has wooden shelving units stocked with various products, including packaged food items and kitchen accessories. The floor is a polished concrete surface, and the background includes a counter with a coffee machine and other store items.

A serving of word salad for you, now chopped with a wicked sharp knife!…read more I am someone who believes in the utility of an EDC (Every Day Carry) knife. I have been able to upgrade a closet, open packages, soda bottles, and fix an award plaque, and more, all thanks for my trusty Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. I am of the age when many friends are getting married, and I often see knife sets on wedding registries. Here's a $100 cash and a tip that will save you $150 more: just get a good chef's knife, and keep it as sharp as reasonably possible. You may need a bread knife and maybe some steak knives if you plan to do some bbq-ing, but still cannot beat a trusty chef's knife. True to form, both my pocket knife and chef's knife get a fair amount of work. I have a pull through sharpener at home (though it technically hones more than it sharpens). This one is good for some regular 'maintenance' when the edge starts slipping instead of gliding through a tomato, but every now and again, having a professional but a proper edge does wonders. Now, as much as I would love to have a kitchen knife sharp enough to shave with, I also know this would result in a brittle knife that would break as soon as it met cartilage. At the same time, I have seen many reels of knives that can cut paper on the fly. While I found out there is a certain technique to do so, Northside Cutlery was able to get my knives sharp enough to glide through paper. The rates are reasonable at $7/knife, and the turnaround time is fast. Everyone working the shop was kind and friendly as well. While professional sharpening is not something I do on a regular basis, I can absolutely see myself returning to Northside Cutlery for all my sharpening needs.

Unfortunately I'm still having issues with Home Depot. You can find my review on here from January…read moreof 2025. My orders were lost, they refused to deliver my appliances over 3 times once on-site, Home Depot's delivery partners attempted to extort me for money under the table. Once I left that review, I did have someone from the executive team reach out to me to resolve that issue in the form ensuring my order was actually delivered and of a tiny fraction off the cost of the amount I paid for the appliances. However, I've had more issues recently, and while I've attempted to reach out to executive level for assistance, I was emailed back, "Online Executive Escalations team receives executive-level or higher internal case transfers and does not handle inbound customer support requests" before being told to reach out to customer service, which is completely useless and something I've tried to do many times. I placed my original cabinetry order in 2024. Due to dishonest contractors who abandoned my project and left my home in demo-stage (totally uninhabitable), I was unable to receive my order until about June of 2025 from Home Depot, as I had nowhere for it to go. This was not Home Depot's fault. However, now that I was able to receive the order and have it installed, we now see that we are missing components (large wood panels, at that) which I now have to pay for again, because the order is too old to honor the return/replacement policy. We are also unable to return pieces that were not used or that were ordered by the designer by mistake, due to the age of the order. Some glass pieces also came shattered, which took about 2 months to replace. I also want to make it clear that I don't keep "going back" to a place that handles business poorly. These are orders from one home project that have spanned over 2 years now, and just have yet to be resolved. The issues go on: The order expediter has ignored my emails and gives me 2-word responses when I send multiple questions that have now gone unanswered for over a month, I was told by the countertop factory rep that Home Depot keeps experiencing "IT" issues, so they're unsure how to tell me if my orders are actually confirmed or not, my counters have been backordered but I've not heard any updates from anyone despite my reaching out multiple times both to Home Depot and Countertop Factory through HD, they're seeing balances owed on my profile when I've paid in full 2024, I still don't know if the designer has found the missing panels that need to be re-ordered, I still don't know if my counter order is confirmed, I was charged for multiple cabinets and multiple sink installations but still not refunded. I also work in retail, and I understand that it can be difficult to provide customers with a resolution sometimes. But I really feel that no one has cared enough to even try and put a little effort in, even just as far as communication. The only person who has been sweet throughout is my designer, Marva. As far as I'm concerned, she's the one diamond they have at that location. There's only so much she can do for us without executive assistance. I strongly feel that due to the extenuating circumstances as well as the extremely poor experiences I've had at Home Depot since beginning these projects in 2024, they should be doing way more than a couple hundred dollars refunded. Especially with my orders that have been in the thousands. I'd like to see a better amount in compensation, to be able to return untouched components that were not needed, as well as the missing components of my orders being shipped to me at no additional charge. I've been ignored, forgotten, left to try to fix your errors on my own and have been extorted by your third-party services. Come on, Home Depot. Prove to me that you're going to make this right the way you should. As of Feb 7th, 2026 no one from Home Depot has reached out to me despite my opening a "ticket." The expediter J, finally said the missing glass panel was ready for pick up. She would not have told me it was there if I never continued to ask, and it's probably been there waiting. I went to customer service, told the woman there that I was picking up the last glass panel replacement for my cabinetry because J said it was ready. She asked if I had an order number and I said no [there was no order number as the store placed this on my behalf because they broke the original]. She laughed at me flat out and called J over the store phone to tell her I was here. On the phone J asked the lady, "what does he want" and she flatly repeated to me "what do you want?" in a rude tone, AS IF 1) I didn't just tell her what I was here for and 2) J didn't just email me to come in for the glass panel. They both made me feel humiliated even though I didn't cause any of this. J also never initiated the refund check I was owed, that I confirmed with her 3 weeks ago. Now I need to wait longer and have many other unresolved issues.

We started off with about a half hour of mingling, getting setup with drinks (BYOB) and the provided fresh baked bread with assorted cheeses, then all gathered around the large U-shaped island that would be our workspace. As others have mentioned, this isn't a you-cook-everything for your meal type of experience, rather, every step is demonstrated by the instructor then a few people in the class will take turns performing it while others move on to other steps. My class was the Bavette menu, which was (I'm not even going to attempt to write out the french titles for these) a bacon and mushroom puff pastry, sous-vide flank steak with duck fat roasted potatoes and Bearnaise sauce, and a chocolate lava cake for dessert. The food was fantastic. An absolutely amazing meal. But really the best part about this whole experience was the people and the group interaction. Throughout the night, we all got to know each other and had a bunch of fun working together. There was tons of laughter and it was an all around great time. It culminated in us sitting at a long table and having dinner together. It was also someone's birthday, so we all sang happy birthday. Overall, 10/10 experience! I will DEFINITELY be back. This was one of the best girl's nights we've had in a while, but it would also be great for a date or just a couple of friends. Hell, it would even be a great first date! Oh, and our instructor, Ryan, was incredible. He was hilarious and a great teacher.
