Since moving to West Concord, I have been exploring nearby Maynard, which I think of as "the town…read morethat time forgot". With its old mill buildings and depressed-but-still-trying downtown shopping area, little Maynard was once on the brink of wild prosperity during the 1980s when computer manufacturer Digital Equipment Corporation was pouring jobs and cash into the area like a high-tech fire hose. But sales of the company's profitable mainframes dwindled after it failed to successfully transition to personal computers, and it quietly expired in the late 1990s. You won't find them on Twitter or Facebook: Shorette's is a small garage right out of the 1960s, with prices to match. The dimly-lit "customer waiting area" is crammed with dust-covered displays of fan belts, replacement gas caps, and carburetor gasket kits. The owner/operator and his elderly father have run the place for ages, and there is an archetypal "back room" behind the counter where they hang out and play cards or do whatever old time garage guys do. I paid what I consider pre-War prices for a brake job, and business was brisk when I stopped by. Apparently word has gotten around that you can still get this kind of "No BS - done right the first time" service if you're willing to go out to Maynard for it.

George at Station Auto Body was excellent. Straightforward, and exceeded expectations…read more Clear communicator, car ready ahead of deadline. I'd also point out I almost hesitated going with him - but am SO HAPPY I did. First - Lexus recommended a short list of body shops, far away and more expensive. I'm sure they ARE great - just far away & more expensive. :) Second - the body shop recommended by Lexus (which I know does great work as I know clients) described the repair for pearlized paint as complex to get done right. That made me pause. After reading dozens of strong referrals for Station Road, I understood the body shop is capable & trustworthy. I went it to meet with George & felt comfortable immediately, so glad I did! The car he worked on for us had a white pearlized paint from Lexus. He provided a competitive rate and did a fantastic job. Though I hope no one experiences car damage & needs body work, if you should require it, I highly recommend George.

I've been going to George at Station Road Auto Body for over 30 years. I don't even ask for a quote…read morebecause George has always done a fantastic job and charged a fair price. I just went there to get my bumper fixed and found out Mark has taken over the shop. Initially, I was bummed as I couldn't see if anyone can top George for workmanship and integrity. Mark fixed my bumper straightaway and I am thrilled to say that Mark shares the same dedication and honesty as George in the good guy department. I am so happy that I have a reliable autobody shop I am confident will get the job done and at a very good price.
