I bought new Bosch wiper blades and since I did such an awful job of putting one on a while back (it loosened during a snowstorm), I knew having someone who knew how to do it the right way would be best. It didn't help the situation that the blades came with three adapters for the wiper arm!!! Drove in this morning, a nice guy held the door open for me when I went into the office to say that I needed help and felt pretty stupid. Another very nice guy followed me outside, popped the new blades on in a few seconds and didn't make me feel stupid at all. I don't know where to start...was told on the phone to bring car in at 7am for inspection sticker (after explaining I would need car back to make a late morning appt). Arrived and was told inspections didn't happen until 8:30am. Left car there, had to uber to appt and didn't get car back until 4pm-missing another appointment. BEWARE OF THIS SHOP.. THEY ARE OVER PRICED, DISHONEST AND I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO AVOID USING THEM. I had my 2110 HONDA FIT towed to this shop based on their TV ads. The drive shafts on this car had been recalled by Honda .. unknown by me at the time. Both left and right would be replaced by Honda @ no charge. Pleasant did replace them at a cost of over $1100. They also said that my brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced for an additional $1000. I did not agree. 6 months later another mechanic replaced 2 rotors and pads for $500. If Pleasant Car Care were reputable, they could have checked Honda website and seen as I had that is a factory recall and would be replaced at no charge. The HONDA dealer in W.Newton did replace them although I brought the car in for some other service. They did the replacement without my asking , apparently due that the rotors previously "replaced" by Pleasant Car Care were not HONDA CERTIFIED PARTS. It is very sad that fairness and honesty are not practiced by PLEASANT CAR CARE. BUYER BEWARE ! read more

Disclaimer: this happened over a year ago. I went there for a state inspection. Got a call saying that there was oil leak in my under carriage, and also air filter needs replacement. I got suspicious because my car was just serviced 3 months ago. They also wanted to charge me 300 to wash the undercarriage and come back in two weeks to see what's wrong. I came in on Sunday, when it was over 90 degrees, because my car's A/C died and I had to drive 2 hours with 2 dogs. Everyone was great, and Tiffany especially. They got me in right away, did everything they could, and got me back on the road in less than 2 hours with A/C. She took care of us like you would a family member - got us all water; hosed down the big fluffy dog to help with the heat; put us in a back room with the most powerful air conditioning while we waited; organized the dog beds in my car and put on the A/C while I paid; and more. It was like nothing else and it made such a difference to me. Her coworkers were all super nice too, and the manager as well - you can tell they like to work there. At this car repair shop prepare to be pressured to the extreme. Absolutely ridiculous. After being pressured into what I later discovered to be unnecessary repairs I took my business elsewhere. I recommend Accel Auto in Waltham. I finally managed to get in touch with my long trusted mechanic who had retired and he recommended Accel. Straightforward, honest, no pressure, quality repairs. Wow, be very careful with this shop! Here are my three experiences with them: 1. Spring 2024: 2011 Audi A4 Avant, replace front suspension components. Reasonable pricing after a bit of haggling. 2. August 14 2024: After a few days back on the road following repairs, the front wheels began to get noisy, slowly, but definitely, and eventually begin to vibrate unmistakably by late July, less than a thousand miles since repair. Front wheel bearings shot. Both left and right, at the same time. Was this a giant coincidence? Did they do something during servicing the front end to trigger the wear? Can't say for sure, but it'd have to be a monumental coincidence for both bearings to go at the same time. They repaired it for about $1,888, somewhere around 3 times market price as I later learned, even when using Audi OEM parts. 3. August 15 2024: I brought my 2018 Tesla Model 3 in for diagnosis and estimate when the front end suddenly got squeaky. They diagnosed it as some mysterious thing that they couldn't show me and that they have recently done for someone else, claiming that there is a massive problem with Model 3's front ends falling apart. They give me an estimate of $8,000 to repair. I took it to Tesla today. They diagnosed problems with the upper control arm ball joints on the passenger side, and replaced them while I waited for $211.75 They are super nice seeming people, in the sort of way that makes you feel bad for suspecting them. But look at the above facts. Look at the reviews, and if you have to go there for some strange reason BE REALLY CAUTIOUS! read more

This last time I wrote with some concerns about fees in a polite and respectful manner. Tim Smith, the service manager, who I have never met, apparently didn't like that at all. Beware! My young friend took her car here and they charged her $1100 for mechanical work. They then told her she needed $1200 worth to fully replace her brakes. They told her the car was not safe to drive at all until she had this work done. I suggested she get a second opinion. She took it to our local mechanic who looked at it and said the car was completely fine and they predicted she could safely drive another 1000 miles with the car before needing to have brake work or any other mechanical work done. I am afraid they saw that my friend is young and doesn't know much about cars and really tried to take advantage of her.I would never go to this garage, nor would I recommend them to anyone. read more

WARNING!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!! Not only have I had a terrible experience, but my friend did as well. Reading the recent 1 star reviews from Cindy, Catherine, Susan, Marvin, and Betty, they are all spot on correct. I wanted to support a local business, but will never come back. Tim Smith is the General Manager and has no sense of customer service. His business model is to create more work so the customer keeps coming back. More work = more money for them. I dropped my car off for a state inspection. I had an appointment and was told it would be 1 hour to 1.5hrs max. 2hrs in, I receive a call saying I need a filter changed and debris taken out of my car - fine. 4+ hours later my car is "ready". The SECOND I got in my car, something didn't feel right. As I took the turn out of the shop, my car made an incredibly distinct noise that has never happened before. I drove down the street and the noise kept happening. I took my car back the next morning (since my 1hr appointment turned into 5hrs and then the shop was closed). Tim lifted the car up and showed that the tire spring was broken. A service specialist even came over and said that the spring could have previously been damaged but because this new distinct noise was happening, the spring likely SHIFTED WHILE BEING RAISED IN THEIR SHOP. I came in for a state inspection, and left with damage to my car and now will be getting work done ANYWHERE BUT AT PLEASANT CAR CARE. Just do yourself a favor and drive past Pleasant Car Care unless you want endless bills. read more

Very poor and unfinished work. Don't waste your time here. I had my breaks replaced at this location and a few other things done. 1) They charged me for work they didn't do. 2) they did an unsafe job on my breaks. They did not use break fluid and my car squeaks horribly. They also didn't clean the rotors and the shop that fixed these ameatur mistakes said everything was jammed back together and nothing was cleaned and re-greased. Not only is this unsafe, but dishonest work. Don't let the good customer service cover up the poor mechanic work being done to your car. I had a second appointment to get my tires changed over to summer tires (before I was aware of the brake issues) and they did not properly put the wheel weight back on. It fell off, luckily I was stopped at a gas station and was able to pick it up and go to another shop to put it back on. read more

Be careful when bringing your auto here. I had the fix my AC the end of 2023 and paid over 1,00.00. The only changed a few belts and the pulley wheel. Summer of 2024 my AC didn't work so I brought it back and now they say it's the compressor and it would be additional 1900.00. They should have fixed it the first time. I think they did that on purpose since you don't run your AC in the winter months. They are shady. Anyway they charged me over 200 dollars to diagnose the issue and it literally only took 2 minutes to see that the compressor was not spinning. Buyer be very ware of these people. They come on nice and gain your trust but then screw you in the end. I had another estimate for OE AC Compressor and it was under 1,000. read more

So here's the deal: PCC has done great work on my car. My review is not about the quality of care my car has received. My issue lies with the conduct of the employees while I was waiting for my car. I got my car inspected and while I was waiting, one of the managers/owners at the front desk began to speak with a mechanic about their wives. While I was not actively listening, these men were not being quiet as they proceeded to make jokes about their wives in labor, including jokes about getting a "husband stitch" put in for them. Words are not enough to describe just how uncomfortable I was as the only woman in the vicinity and also being in a position where I could not leave. It should not be my job to explain to a group of men why this is deeply inappropriate conduct, especially in a place of business. Getting my car worked on as a younger woman is hard enough, as I have to be wary of mechanics taking advantage, but to be put in an environment where openly misogynistic jokes are being made like it's no big deal is deeply upsetting. I will not be returning to PCC after this, which really sucks because I had liked them before. read more

They efficiently serviced my car, explained what they were going to do and were extremely transparent with a fair price. They also give you a free diagnosis every time you get service and never pressure you to receive something you don't need. Also, if they do believe service is necessary, they show you pictures of what & why they think so! It is tough to trust some mechanics, but this crew truly makes you feel at home! I'm one of those people who like to hang onto a car until it's old enough to vote. My Chevy Equinox has entered its awkward teenage years and has started acting up occasionally. Sometimes it's just a small thing, but there have also been more serious issues with the ABS and the exhaust system. A friend recommended Pleasant Car Care and I'm happy she did. You get the sense they care about the quality of their work and want you to understand what is going on with your car - they open the hood or put the car on a lift to show you what's gone wrong and explain it in terms that don't make your eyes glaze over. And they're nice people to deal with. The only thing that would make this place better would be some nice Italian pastry in the waiting room, and maybe a couple of massage chairs. After my first (and only) experience, I wasn't originally going to write a review. Since that time I received two texts and a call from the company asking for feedback on the experience. I've provided that each time. Since I've done that... I'll do it here as well. I'm capable of doing general maintenance on my vehicles. I can change the oil, rotate the tires, change the air filters, etc.... Thankfully, I'm also in a position where I don't have to be the person that does that anymore - so I rely on people I can trust to do the work. I've historically gone to a great place in Watertown that changed their weekend hours so I had to find a new place. I wanted to give a local establishment the business. My ask: Change the oil. Rotate the tires. I dropped the car for a pick up of 3 hours later. I received a call from one of the reps (I'll keep names out of this) that suggested the manufacturer recommended tire rotation and balancing as part of this process. I reminded him that I already asked for the rotation and declined the balancing. When I stopped by to pick up the car, I asked for the documentation that suggested tire balancing was recommended and he told me that it was simply "Pleasant Car Care" that recommended it. I reminded him that he told me on the phone it was recommended by the manufacturer, but he suggested he said otherwise. The reality is this. I look for someplace I'm comfortable recommending to my mother-in-law or my wife or friends. Tire balancing is needed when you literally change tires or experience a vibration. It certainly isn't recommended by the manufacturer unless the issues above have occurred. Suggest changing air filters. Suggest changing cabin filters. Please don't suggest that the manufacturer recommends something when they don't. I love supporting local businesses. I want them to be successful. I also want them to be honest to the people that are supporting them. That simply wasn't my experience here. Super friendly. Local. Easy to get the support needed. That get's three stars. I can't get there with the other two due to the experience I had. read more

My Honda Fit 2010 was towed to this shop due to a broken axle. The govt, website NHTSA.gov listed my car's VIN number for recall and Honda would replace both axles free of change. If they checked the website they would have offered me the option to have the car towed to a dealer for free repair. That would be the ethical choice. They made the repair for $1200. They also claimed that the front rotors and pads were dangerously worn, although the car passed inspection only 4 weeks previously. The cost would be an additional $1000 I declined to have the repair done. A previous repair cost was $400 and I drive an average of 6000 miles per year. This shop is not ethical and overcharges. Buyer be aware and do your research. I advised them of my dissatisfaction. They offered no response. read more

Totally unprofessional and refused to take any responsibility for their poor service, such as telling me they had a tire for me, then changed their tune and told me I had to bring my car in first and prepaid for it before they will order it. When they called me that they ordered the tire, I took my car in for repair and after waiting around for them, a Tim finally showed up and told me he ordered the wrong size and have to wait for the right one. This is after they took my keys and tagged my car. When Tim returned my keys, I was upset to see a house was missing. I will not be going back there. read more

My gf brought my car in here for an oil change that was scheduled several days in advance and had to wait over 2 hours for them to do an oil change. After they were finally done they came back with a list of things that needed repaired totalling over $1,000. When I asked about the urgency they were very vague which made me question if these things even needed to be done. I took my car to another place for a second opinion and was told that instead of the entire front end of the car being replaced they narrowed it down to a tie-rod. So I saved over $800. I am not sure if they treated my girlfriend a certain way because of her gender but I know that neither of us will ever be returning and I am warning other customers to be wary of their suggestions and service and know that you can count on spending the day there even if you schedule an appointment in advance. read more

This place blew me away. I needed a timing belt and a bunch of other maintenance items taken care of but didn't want to pay dealer service prices for my Acura MDX. I was recommended Pleasant Care Care by a good friend who uses them religiously. I couldn't have had a better experience - called between Christmas and New Years to make an appointment. I spoke with Jay who was, well, extremely pleasant as the name suggested and offered a range of drop-off times that worked for my schedule. The morning of drop off I asked about adding a couple more services which they said would be no problem to take care of. 24 hours later my car was ready and to my surprise, they had proactively applied a $75 coupon to my bill, which was already far more reasonable than my trusted dealer service shop to begin with. It was easy to request an appointment on their website, and I was able to get in the next day (Saturday morning). Quoted me more than the value of my car for a subset of the repairs it needed, and recommended I get rid of the vehicle when I indicated I was not going to have them do the work. They had already changed my oil and windshield wipers at this point, in what I can only assume was full knowledge that my car was not worth the price they were asking. The wiper arm is bit skewed so it is not horizontal to the floor, and when it is working, it will partly wipe out of my glass to the car body, making sounds and get my car bit scratched. I know it just need adjustment, but I dont know where to get it fixed, so I went to McGovern Jeep where I bought my car. However, they told me it costs 125$ to diagnose first and then repair is extra. I feel like ??? It is straightforward that just the screw or something else needs to be adjusted, since the whole wiper works well, just 20° skewd. So I went away, and I went to a auto body shop nearby, but they told me they do not take care of wipers, and they suggests me go to Pleasent Car Care. And this time I call the store first, asking how much it costs and how long it takes to get repaired. Suprisingly, the agent tells me it just needs several seconds to get it fixed and it's free. At first, I dont believe there is such good thing as a free service since though it is a pretty simple repairment. But when I arrive at the store, the agent get my car fixed within 5 minutes and he even helped me wiped the little scratch on my car caused by the skewed wiper. And indeed, he did not charge me anything. I am actually a new customer to the store and I did not purchase anything. previously I think it might cost $10 or $20. The service is good and the agent is very nice. Though the reception room is bit small but it is very tidy. I went to PEP BOYS for a battery change in 2018 Ford Edge. As soon as I got the new battery my check engine light went on. PEP BOYS did one of those check codes and said I had an exhaust problem. Nothing to do with the battery change. And sent me away. (It was closing time). I went to Pleasant car care. They opened the hood and saw that PEP BOYS had left a sensor disconnected. Plugged the sensor back in. Check Engine light went off. FREE SERVICE. NO CHARGE. Now that's the kind of car repair place I like. I found this place years back when I felt the Toyota dealerships were charging too much to fix the problems they would find with my car during my routine oil changes. I priced out various jobs and they always had a better price than the dealership. I then decided to stop wasting my time and just going to the dealership. I guess the dealership may use genuine toyota parts at time. But who knows? Charlie and his staff always show me the problem with my car by bringing into the car bay and telling me what the fix is and if it is urgent or can wait. They are always efficient with the work on my car. They let me take out a loaner when they had to repair the radiator on my car a couple months back. Lastly they are always up front and honest with the approximate cost for parts and labor. Try out Pleasant Car care if you do not have a reliable car mechanic. You may stay like me! read more
