It took over an hour to get our food. My benny eggs were hard poached and the potatoes were burnt. I have had more smoked salmon on my Benny's at other restaurants. Not worth the wait. Staff was friendly. Ambiance, loud but the place was full so to be expected. read more

I like this place. It is decorated beautifully and has a nice vibe. I have been here for breakfast ( the avocado toast is delicious but over priced) and for drinks. They have some really nice drinks served with a nice presentation. The winter punch was very good. Perfect for a snowy day. I wish there menu has alittle more plant based items They have a beautiful patio I can't wait to try. read more

What a fantastic time at Wilfred's! The food was incredible and the environment is warm and welcoming. We went for dinner and I can't wait to go back and try their brunch menu. The cocktail I ordered was lovely and strong, the Oliver. The fried chicken is not a traditional fried chicken, as the chicken is wrapped in prosciutto and then fried. The batter was delicious and the arugula salad was a nice compliment to the entree. The wait staff was helpful and professional, looking very trendy. The cauliflower and crispy bacon and chives soup was delicious. The grilled cheese had Parmesan and gruyere and was perfectly toasted. The French fries were crispy and magical! Treat yourself to a cocktail and meal at this quaint new restaurant in The brewery district. read more

If you're looking for an over-priced and over-hyped place, this is the one ! I payed $7.35 for a matcha latte that was nothing but average. When the waitress was making my drink i noticed it was with homo milk, i asked if i could change it to almond milk, she said it would cost more ! More than the $7.35! Ridiculous. She was not friendly either. The breakfast sandwich was also average and overpriced. The concrete floors in the restaurant give it a dirty feel. The other aesthetics of the restaurants are nice and Instagram worthy, but other than that it's very overhyped. read more

I'd go back to try it again. The whole restaurant is just beautiful, the mural, the bar and coffee bar, everything just looks gorgeous. It filled up quickly at lunch time on a Tuesday so when I arrived before my friend just before noon the only seating available was at the bar. That didn't really matter too much. The bartender was good and attentive. Unfortunately the brunch and lunch menu are on the same page without clear serving times, that was a bit confusing and could have been clearer. Also it got quite crowded around the doorway because a lot of people were coming in to pick up coffees and to-go orders which seemed to sometimes obstruct people who wanted to come in or go out of the restaurant. My food was good. I ordered the grilled cheese and fries. Yes $16 is a lot for a sandwich but it was tasty and hit the spot. I will be coming back again since I live in the neighbourhood and will try more dishes. read more

I've been to many cafes, and Wilfred's is by far the best. Amazing food, amazing staff, and in such a cute, comfortable neighbourhood!! I went for breakfast at about 8:45, and there was no wait which was great, they were able to seat me right when I walked in. The waitress I had was so friendly, had a smile on her face the whole time! I ordered the avocado toast and the fresh pink juice, which I highly recommend to order when you visit Wilfred's! Everything about my experience at Wilfred's was amazing! I highly recommend this place! read more

Wilfred's - Avocado toast $12.00 with Fresh Pink Juice $6.00 - Diners Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

Adorable little neighbourhood spot! I love the cocktails and would come here for drinks with my girlfriends any time. The food is the only thing that keeps me from going too often but will return for the ambiance and drinks :) read more

Came here for lunch for the first time after hearing that it was a cute spot. Disappointing. We ordered the coffee with irish cream and a chai latte. The drinks came out after about 15 minutes, and were okay at best. The food came out after about 30 more minutes at least.. this is far too long considering we only ordered two orders of the avocado toast (which is literally just avocado on toast with some cherry tomatoes and dill - nothing difficult) The crust was very hard and it was difficult to cut and eat. We received the bill to see that the coffee and irish cream was $9.50. I'm sorry, what? Looking again at the menu, it was very misleading and it was an additional almost $6 to add the 1 oz of irish cream. The way it is advertised is a bit scammy. We spoke to the manager just to point out that the menu is not clear and could use some clarification and he didn't have much to say before walking off. After searching the menu online and looking at photos of your menu from other posters, you continue to raise your prices but have VERY slow service and average food. We will not be returning and will not be recommending your restaurant. read more

The exterior is beautiful. The interior is confusing and slightly disturbing. Strange colour choices match the bizarre cartoon mural. It presents as a quaint place to take children for a big pink cupcake to be inappropriately ogled. Passed that my waitress was great! Polite, friendly, unphased to hear that the food was horrible. Almost like she's heard it before...hmmm. The biscuit with sherry mushroom ragu is really two large over cooked phyllo dough squares with a mound of dry and unseasoned cooked mushrooms. Flavourless, yet edible. Better after I added salt and a squeeze of lemon..thank God my nasty chicken dish had a lemon garnish! I suspect that the lemon garnish may have either been to squeeze on my odd arugula, cherry tomato and grated cheese salad. Maybe it was parmigiana , Krafts big green container, or possible Asiago... Either way it added nothing to the dry, dressing less pile of cheese dusted arugula salad? The lemon may have been reserved for the over cooked crunchy breaded chicken schnitzel. Schnitzel? Wait a minute, the menu didn't mention schnitzel? Oh well, I sawed off a small bite sized piece and found myself looking for something to dip it in to.... but nothing. The unseasoned, dry as hell, bite was inedible. I mean I could gnaw on it, but the indistinct pork scented over used oil that it was overcooked in was nauseating. I tried to be a trooper and peeled back the breading. Cautiously sampling the plain chicken, I was confident that I could settle for naked chicken, but holy hell! No, nope, no way...I don't even think that it was chicken. Only a very special chef could prepare chicken this rank. We also had the warm potato salad, which is a typical German dish, so I had an idea of what to expect....or did I? Not even close! It was French's mustard on hot potato's with dill and capers. Epic FAIL! All in all, we really wanted it to be good, but I couldn't even pretend that it was. Shale, the "chef", must either be the owner or the owners relative. Sigh, head shake..... who serves an olive starter of 4 random Olives on a tiny plate....Really Shale, REALLY? read more

Extremely disappointing. Came here for brunch and at first glance were very impressed with the aesthetics of this place - but that is as far as it went. My boyfriend ordered the soft scrambled eggs sandwich on a gluten free bun, which you opt to pay extra for. Luckily I was sitting across the table from him...when he went to take a bite of the sandwich I spotted two large sections of mold on the bottom of the bun. We brought this to the servers attention where they asked if he we would like for them to make another. Stuff happens so we agreed to another shot. When the second sandwich came out the bun looked significantly more fresh. Either the first bun was very stale or the second sandwich wasn't gluten free. Luckily he doesn't have a gluten allergy so we didn't have to find out. The non-moldy sandwich was still very dry and underwhelming. There was very little recognition on the restaurants part that serving moldy buns was not normal and were also charge full price for the entire breakfast included the gluten free bun which we debatably didn't get. We are avid brunch-goers and love exploring and sharing new places with friends and family often returning back to our favourite places. A moldy bun, dry sandwich and $46 bill later we definitely will NOT be returning back to Wilfred's. If you like to sit in a pretty place and enjoy good coffee this is your spot but if you're going to eat we recommend driving a few minutes further to Rebel. The service and food is miles above Wilfred's. Very disappointing. read more

Not sure why this place is getting decent reviews. I've actually been here for lunch and breakfast and found both times to be subpar. First waitress was not overly friendly, soup was extremely salty and grilled cheese was too greasy. Their Dutch baby on the breakfast menu is better but still very subpar. There are better places out there. read more

That drink menu needs some work. $10 for a pint and $13 for a bottle of beer? Wanted to try this place out but the menu scared us away with it's ludicrous beer prices. read more

Wilfred's is adorable, such a New York City feel. The service was good. The vegetarian version of the grilled cheese was delicious. We made a reservation for 9am, which wasn't needed that early, but by the time we were asked to leave (apparently they needed a table for a reso coming in at 10:30am) it was packed. Also, the door time and google said they open at 8am, but the doors were locked until 9am and there were a few people waiting in the parking lot. So don't plan on going in before 9am. I'm not sure if this is normal or just Sundays. I would go back and recommend! Worth checking out! read more

This is a pretty good place. Oliver square location, lots of free parking, easy to locate. Inside is a different sort of atmosphere. I couldn't figure out what the story of the place was, although I'm sure it's interesting. The service was really good. Very nice servers and the food was delicious. We had the crudités plate with this amazing dip, grilled cheese and smoked salmon. All delicious. The drinks were pretty good too. Very 'artisanal'. I commented that I found it a touch pricey, but maybe not given the location and the new minimum wage, etc. Maybe it is just me. My only real complaint is that it was a bit noisy. There was a group next to us and they were having a blast but it made it a little noisy for us who were on a date night. The room is pretty echoey so it carries sounds well. But overall a pretty decent experience. Would return. read more

Finally popped in for dinner and it was great! Well crafted, balanced cocktails, great service and tasty food. Beautifully designed space that created a wonderful ambience. I think this place has found its groove and we definitely plan to add it to our regualar rotation. read more

I visited Wilfred's while I was in Edmonton by myself. I was greeted to a warm welcome and decided to sit at the bar. The inside was very unique and has a great vibe. The waiter that helped me was very personable. He suggested items off the menu and was easy to talk to. I ordered the Dutch Baby Benny, with hashbrowns. They knocked it out of the park, the fluffy pancake that the benny sits on was so yummy. I of course smothered the syrup all over the plate, what a great added touch. This would be a treat yourself place for sure as it was a bit expensive. But overall I would go again for sure! I loved it. Highly recommend. read more

I walk by Wilfred's frequently to pick up cat food. My cat eats alot so I walk by this place all the time. It's not a very inviting building but I had a bad day and I needed a stiff drink. I reluctantly entered this uninviting, icy brick square of a building, and I'm SO GLAD I DID! The staff and decor were so incredibly welcoming! Thank you to Leanna, Jennifer and Heather for the delicious cocktails and wonderful service! I love a negroni and this one was top notch! I can't wait to come back for some food! read more

We just went yesterday and we loved the atmosphere and brunch! The coffee was delicious! Between myself and my wife we decided to get three dishes. The Avocado Toast with 2 eggs, the traditional breakfast and the Burger with the veggie patty. Each item was made well and we enjoyed them! Would highly recommend for a Sunday brunch hotspot in Edmonton! Service was great as well! Thanks for starting off our Sunday with a great meal! read more

What a charming space! I love the aesthetic and the layout. One thing I didn't love was that on the menu it says that the soft scrambled egg sandwich has "soft cheese" that ended up being goat cheese. Considering goat cheese has a super strong musky flavour I feel like the menu should be more specific and say that it is goat cheese, as most cheeses are soft. I would definitely go back given the chance. read more

To start, the Pasta Bake & the Bourbon Burger are delicious - fries are substandard though. Brought 2 friends for dinner here, pretty expensive experience for what we got - tried the biscuits with the chicken liver mousse; very nice. Bourbon chicken & pasta bake good (fries still bad) I tried the salmon dish - this dish really needs a re-think, kinda bland with poor presentation, quinoa salad with chicken; okay. I really think you should provide a better beer selection, at present, limited and expensive. Also, the happy hour could definitely be improved upon, perhaps more wine deals; like 1/2 price bottles......last but not least, you need something chocolaty on the dessert menu. read more

This place is super lovely. I'm intrigued by the decor and the coffee they offer, Although I found the menu a bit disappointing. I was hoping for more whole food options. Wilfred's is in a great location with ample parking so I will be back to try it again! read more

The decor, the coffee, the cocktails and the food. A delight and refreshing. The best almond milk matcha latte oh and avocado toast!

Cool new spot in a historical building. Ambiance in here is perfect for brunch with family/loved ones ...super chill with a nice mid-century modern-esque vibe. We shared the avocado toast, Wilfred burger with a house salad, and a Medicine Hat Brewery blood orange ale (recommended by our wonderful and super attentive server). The avocado toast was pretty good, though very heavy on the lemon juice, so for those who aren't fans of tartness, you may not enjoy this as much. The burger was delicious...fresh ground beef patty made to medium rare, bacon, cheese, onions and tomatoes...yum! The house salad was fresh, but the dressing was way too tart (lemon juice overload!). The beer was amazing...I usually find summer seasonal beers a little too sweet, but this one was very light on the sugar but you could definitely taste the refreshing blood orange. And the fact that it was made by a local Alberta brewery made it all the better! For dessert we had a berry crumble with cinnamon gelato, which was pretty good, especially with their Wilfred blend coffee (they have a solid selection of coffee drinks and the beans they use are exclusively roasted by Ace...fantastic beans for coffee snobs!). Overall a nice addition to the brewery district. Will be back to try their brunch, which is hear is great! read more

Paid my first visit to this lovely spot in the Brewery District. The interior and lets face it the exterior are a wonderful, simple but elegant interior. I also appreciated the 3 oz serving of wine, at lunch time for 6.00. A friend and I ordered lunch. I opted for the buckwheat crepes with smoked salmon. The item should be classified as an appetizer. First issue, there isn't much for 15.00 but what there is excellent. The problem was the misleading description of the crepe or pancake being called buckwheat. I personally avoid white bread, white rice, white pasta, so reguar pancakes fall into this category. There was no evidence of buckwheat in the loony size pancake batter. I asked the waitress about this, she checked with the kitchen and I was informed that the pancake-I'll use this term since a crepe is typically thinner, was a 60/40 mix of white and buckwheat flour. There is no getting around the colour of buckwheat, its a very dark, a very muddy colour. I make buckwheat crepes all the time. I do a combo of buckwheat with whole meal flour for body, as it is otherwise difficult to work with on its own. Consquently, there is no way you could end up with pale medallians and call it buckwheat. So I've given it an ok rating, for the false advertising and not being upfront about the dish being simply called lox with capers and cream cheese, and a very small (in size and volume), pancakes. read more

The food was just as warm, colorful, inviting, as the atmosphere... Sure it may get a little loud in there sometimes, but the quality of service, food, and atmosphere makes it a moot-point. Definitely a new favourite little gem in the downtown Oliver district. read more

I would honestly give this place 4 or maybe even 5 stars, because I like the food and drinks, and the service has been above average every time I've gone, but I can't give that many stars when so many of my attempts to spend my money there have met with a locked door. On four different occasions I've tried to arrange after work drinks with my friends or girlfriend, only to find the door locked. Who closes down entirely from 2:30 - 5:00pm every day and almost completely cuts themselves off from the after work drink crowd? Every time I've just kept walking and spent my money in Brewsters or Beer Revolution just down the way. I'd vastly prefer Wilfred's, but it's Edmonton. I'm not standing in the cold when I can see your competition across the parking lot. The last time, which was yesterday, was frankly ludicrous. I specifically drove there, on a snowy, icy day, to meet a friend for drinks, forgetting yet again that the doors were locked. We sat in my car in the snow for half an hour, along with 7-8 other vehicles. We watched every last group walk up to the door, try it, and go back to their vehicles. All of us sitting there in the cold because these pretentious wankers couldn't be bothered to open their doors early and get a drink in our hands. I'd understand if the kitchen isn't ready, but anyone can pour drinks while we wait to eat. You aren't that good Wilfred's. You aren't good enough for me to sit in my car waiting for you to decide you want my money. read more

Awesome lunch. Was really busy and the food still came pretty quick (even though they apologized it was taking longer).

The interior decor is absolutely amazing. Light colours. Very cute. Coffee is ok. Food is good and service is fast. I like the idea of being able to order coffee and cocktails there. It's not accessible though. There's stairs to get in the main entrance so it's not possible to enter with a stroller, for example. But I'm aware that they can't change the building layout. When I visited the place for the first time, there was no changing table in the bathrooms but the owner told me that there's one in the male bathroom now. This is good. read more

I had brunch there, do they really need to give me deep fried hashbrowns? Pretty disappointing the smoked salmon was not fresh and too thickly sliced. For the price they charge go somewhere else. I did like the coffee read more

I stopped in for brunch with a couple friends. A few co-workers recommended the place so I wanted to check it out. It has a charming atmosphere - there's a beautiful mural on the wall, colorful tile wor, and quaint styled menus. The staff is very friendly and know the menu, but service is slightly slow. It was busy but there was still seating, the place is not large, and it's been open for a bit now so I would expect slightly quicker service. Two of us ordered a breakfast sandwich, and the third ordered the traditional breakfast. It wasn't bad but nothing spectacular. The toast was prettyyy crispy, which I've had people warn me about. Overall, I like the atmosphere, staff is friendly, but the menu could use some work. I'd stop in for a coffee or to try lunch, but I would do brunch elsewhere. read more

The drinks were great, but in general the food was over priced for what you get. The snacks are ridiculously expensive for micro portions (although they were very tasty). The burger was just "fine". The pasta was "OK". The barley plate was delicious and probably priced fairly. Service was great. read more

My daughter and her fiance took me here on June 24th. We all enjoyed our meal. I had the prawn entree, and though the portion was not large, it was delicious. If you are really hungry, I would suggest an appetizer to go with. The service was friendly and fun. The decor is fresh and clean. The drink selection is extensive with a gorgeous bar that is central to the restaurant. It's a versatile restaurant that would be lovely for Sunday brunch or just to drop in for a drink on a Friday night. read more

How much of a rating goes into how a restaurant looks? Wilfred's interior design, art, and branding is incredible - it feels so clean and bright. Living near the Brewery District, it was exciting to see a contemporary diner opening up soon and visited within the first week of opening. Wilfred's is beautiful and it's a shame that it isn't great. We were welcomed and seated in a beautiful restaurant and given an opportunity to check out the happy hour specials and menu. While the cocktails seemed appealing, we settled for a Boilermaker ($10) and a glass of red wine. For food the dinner menu wasn't as interesting as I'd hoped. Plain burgers, plain pastas, plain barley bowls, plain grilled cheese with some featuring fries. If the options were light, maybe the food is great. We ended up with a barley bowl ($15) and a cheeseburger ($20). The barley bowl needed more salt, fragrance and ended up a bit more bland than anything. The cheeseburger was cooked to hell and made me lament that there was a Wendy's I could've gone to 6 blocks down the road. There was a dipping sauce for the fries that was pretty great and garlicky which I think was the singular win in the food department this night. The brunch menu looked a lot more exciting which does bode well for a return visit but unless the dinner menu changes, that great location is going to be a must miss. The more I thought about Wilfred's over the last week, the more mediocre from a food standpoint it felt. So much careful attention was put into the details of a space for food that missed the mark and ripped you off. If you think the concept of a contemporary diner in Edmonton is interesting, try Pip instead. read more

I really wanted to like this place because it's so close to my condo. My espresso was cold and not a long pour my chai tea latte I think tasted like chai tea but I want sure - and the food was just average. While the service offered at Wilfred's was both friendly and solicitous on the afternoon of my visit, the burger -- which is supposed to be the star of the show there -- that was served to me was severely overcooked. My server told me it would be done a tad more than medium, with a tinge of pink to it, but it came out well done (and I let the server know that it was overcooked when he inquired if the food was to my satisfaction). I'm glad to have tried it out. That being said, I don't think that I'll be in a huge hurry to return to Wilfred's. read more

I was super excited to find another spot for all things coffee and breakfast. I first heard about Wilfred on Instagram and decided that I needed to check this place out. I did have a little trouble finding the place as signage wasn't the most visible. After driving around in circles in Brewery District, I finally located it. I was greeted by a friendly hostess who asked if I wanted to sit a the bar or the cafe seating. I chose a nice cozy spot in the corner of the restaurant. I looked around and was pleasantly surprised to see a toddler sitting in a hanging high chair attached to the table. This was great because I have a child under 2 and will definitely come back with him in tow. I love all restaurants that are child friendly and Wilfred definitely support that by thinking about parents who want to be eating out. The menu was printed newspaper style and really cute actually. I ordered the Everett Sammy and enjoyed every bite. Just the right amount of dill with the soft scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. The service was friendly and fast. I am definitely coming back for more! read more

Atmosphere was nice.. definitely have a hipster-vibe going. We had reservations for a table for 2 for dinner. We showed up and the hostess wanted to seat us inbetween two tables of 4 that were occupied. We asked to be seated elsewhere because it was kinda awkward and it seemed like a big deal for the hostess to seat us at another table for two that was empty (there were probably 3 empty two-seater tables).
