I read the reviews prior to coming here, but like an idiot I refused to listen. FOR THE RECORD THIS PLACE GETS A ZERO. This place is so awful and treats it's customers like SHIT. Visiting Seattle with my best friend, like any good gay girl I googled "lesbian bars Seattle" and this was my find! So sad. The fact that this place is the hub for gay women in this city (or visiting this city) makes me feel awful for the gay women and lgbtq community in Seattle. A couple of us went here before dinner for a few drinks. The security process for 4 women with barely any patrons in the bar was pretty alarming (I've worked in night life for 5 years prior to my current position as an attorney) they searched everyone profusely (taking things literally out of my bag). At the bar my friend made a joke that we basically had to go through "TSA" security to get into a place with 3 people in it total (lol) and the bartender came over and lectured her for about 15 minutes on why it is the way it is- mind you we weren't even aware she heard us because she wasn't in ear shot when we were having this conversation as it was PRIVATE. So okay, fine, maybe it's a little 1984 thought police atmosphere but hey! I'm gay! Let's let it go and support the "oldest lesbian bar in the country." But ... Later in the night I realized this establishment employs not only the thought police but the ATTITUDE POLICE TOO!! Toward the end of the night we decided to come back here because from the window it seemed as if this place was bumping (it wasnt) and actually filled with people (lies) so we wanted to see what it was all about (DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME). As we walked in, I made a joke to security that we had been here before! Didn't they recognize us (hehe) and she responded with "you're out." "You're done" -----wait what???? I was very confused. Because of my confusion I told her that I was going to wait outside for her to come speak to me because I really wasn't sure as to why I was being kicked out (mind you we were there for a total of 30 seconds by the time this was over). My best friend came outside with me and about 2 minutes later the dude sitting at the door taking cover came out and asked us what happened? We told him. He did nothing- said it sucked but seemed to care. After about ten minutes when the lady at security who told me to leave didn't come back out I popped back in and asked her what was going on and if she had a manager - she did apparently. This much older woman came outside and asked what happened? Told her my perception of events. She goes and talks to younger mean security girl who comes out and says I was giving her an "attitude" and that the dude inside states I also gave him an attitude and was in his face? This is all very confusing to me as I did none of this and was thinking maybe they were confusing me with the other three women they threw out right before me? Either way when I pushed back I was told I was "doing it now" and that they can't let women come in who have any attitudes because then bad things could happen. What????? Mean security girl told me she got threatened that someone was going to shoot her earlier that day so that's why she has to be careful? Bottom line is after negotiating with them about how unfortunate this is that as a gay woman who came across the country and wanted to experience their bar I'm tossed out immediately due to basically nothing more than a misunderstanding is really quite shocking and not somewhere I wanted to spend money and not someplace I wanted to be. This place has a projection and power trip issue. They project their shit onto everyone and it's clearly because they're insecure in their security staff and their security measures. How disappointing this place is for the lgbtq community who already suffer enough from shitty treatment - to come to a place where they're supposed to feel welcomed only to be treated worse off than the outside world. Truly disgusted. Don't waste your time. read more

I lost my drivers license in SF during Pride, I decided to get a passport card because I plan to leave the area soon. I waited patiently and presented it to the bouncer at the Rose a few nights ago. The bouncer said she had never seen one of these, one of the owners was there and stated that I couldn't come in without valid identification. This thing is accepted as Id for everything except air travel, like my old passport. I'm more than double the legal drinking age and older than most of the patrons in the place, polite, tip the bartenders well, even though Idon't drink booze. You know, this used to be a lesbian bar and now it's a bar for women and everyone is welcome. I think that was the last straw really. Is there some other lesbo place to go? or maybe some place that will accept my official US Passport card? Gimme a break! I wrote them a letter about not accepting my US Passport card, we'll see if they respond. read more

I don't even know where to begin. My friends and I went there a few weeks ago, and I was blown away by how wonderful the Wildrose is. I'm in a manual wheelchair, and the wonderful women working the door helped get me inside, and even found us a table! This is truely a safe place for women. The drinks are brilliant and tasty! And oh my god - you've got to try the Salsa! I ended up declaring to my friends that this is my new favorite place in Seattle, hands down. Much love to the Wildrose AND the Wildrose staff. God help me, but I hate this place. I'm a queer girl and in my mid-20's, so you'd think I'd at least kind of like it here but it's like a punch in the face every time. What kills me is I really want to like it. But everyone from the patrons to the bartenders to the snarky people who check ID are such grade-A dicks that they really make that pretty impossible. I went in here in a skirt and everyone looked at me like I did something to them. My partner is a transman and he couldn't get any service, after about an hour he just left. Straight people . . .yeah don't even try. Every femme I know avoids this place like it's the Republican National Convention. Basically if you aren't a surly, indie pretentious dyke with a major chip on your flannel clad shoulder you will promptly feel completely unwelcome. Wild Rose . . .what happened to really being accepting of diversity? I've been coming to this place for years, even met my lovely ex-wife there. Over the years it has just gone downhill... There really aren't that many lesbians that go there, but rather a lot of old men it seems trying to catch a peek of some girl on girl action. Don't get me wrong, girl on girl is super sexy, when in fact the girls are sexy; but here in Seattle, that is very hard to find. The bathrooms are like little shoe boxes, make sure that all of your belongings are secured or left with a friend outside for when you hover over the seat while strategically not urinating on yourself. Yes, the drinks are cheap and the bartenders are not always friendly, but for just a little more there are definitely other places to visit that have a little more class. I only ever go there to be reminded of how much I love other places better! read more

I've been to the Wild Rose twice and both times everyone was very nice and welcoming. This is NOT one of those "you're not our demographic, what are you doing here" kind of places. So what's a gay man doing at a lesbian bar anyway?? Well, let me tell you...they have the BEST nachos I've probably ever had. They are amazing, that's just all there is to it. I probably would never have gone into this place but I was out with a lesbian friend one night and she wanted to check it out. It was kind of a slow night, so we just decided to get some nachos and hang out for a couple drinks. SO glad we did! The Wild Rose is now my #1 go-to place for nachos. read more

My one star review is not based on what the bar is like once inside because I do not know. The individual checking id's at the door was very adamant and rude about telling me my "id was the wrong color" It was a perfectly valid Idaho id card which yes is a different color than a drivers license. She was not interested in listening to reason or researching it. I have never had a problem ANYWHERE else including any other bars in capital hill. I was meeting some friends there that were already inside which I never got to do. I will not attempt to come back based on the rudeness I experienced just trying to come in with my 100% valid id. read more

Will never be going back to this Bar due to the security staff being beyond unprofessional and extremely rude to the extent that I felt that my party was being discriminated against. The older short lady who is what I assume to be a bouncer was probably the worst tempered and over emotional security guard I have met. And I've seen my fair share of terrible and abusive security guards. Since I will not be coming back I'll just keep this short and sweet since I have no care for an establishment that has terrible reviews on their staff on yelp yet obviously don't care to change. I just never have had a security guard end up treating a whole group of customers so poorly to the point where they feel like that have to leave because of the threats b Ong made by the employee. Also, coming from someone who owns a small business I know that personally I would fire any employee that claims to be an owner when clearly they are an employee. Which is exactly what this little mean old lady did to my group of 15 people while we were at this Bar. She claimed that she "can and will do whatever she wants because she is the owner and she makes the rules".... I really dislike giving negative reviews for businesses but after seeing the onslaught of negative reviews regarding your terrible security staff I felt compelled to add to the list and hope that you as a local small business can turn the face of your business around. If I could give this place ZERO stars i would. Heres the scenario. My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out, we were looking for a change of scenery. I should have read the reviews first! A lot of the reviews I read afterwards coming from MEN saying they felt unwelcome amd discriminated against. After what i went through, I understand. So we get to the bar, and they are charging cover (understandable enough). The "lady" security guard, proceeds to tell my boyfriend the atm is inside because they only accept cash. So she tells me I need to wait outside until he pays for me (ok, understandable enough). Another couple (same thing), she tells the chick in this icy cold tone while pointing with her finger to stay there on the corner because she cant come in until her man pays for her entrance. Whatever, my boyfriend and I get in (pay cover, buy drinks, spending our hard earned money on this place), we're just hanging out, having a good time. I decide I wanna go outside to smoke on their small sitting area outside. I ask the "lady" security guard if were allowed to smoke outside. She says no. Funnily enough, a group about 5 feet away from us, also sitting down are smoking. So instead of being a douche about it, I say nothing and decide to leave the bar, and go smoke on the corner with my boyfriend. I figure we'll come back since I'm kinda having fun and plus we have STAMPS to get back in. Mind you, we have only been at the "establishment" for only 20 mins. We finish smoking, I'm ready to go back in because (well I need to pee). We get to the door, I proceed to walk in, because I need to use the restroom bad. "Lady" security guard pops an attitude (mind you she just saw us 20 mins earlier getting in this place, she just saw us walk out to go smoke) and says she needs to see STAMPS. Okay, I can understand you have a responsibility to make sure you're doing your job, but don't treat me like I'm some f****ng terrorist. She then GRABS MY ARM (which nobody should be grabbed like that at a place of business to begin with) . I say "whoooooooaaaaaaaaaa" and walk away heated. 24 seconds later another lady approaches me and tells me I have to leave. I'm heated!! So I dont say anything until I walk out the door and exclaim to the "lady" security that she shouldnt be grabbing people (men or women) like that. She then tells me "I CAN DO ANYTHING I WANT!!!!!" Look I work downtown in a top 5 hotel, customer service all day, everyday, and I get it. We all have jobs to do, but you're a security guard, and part of that title comes with just a tad bit of customer service. After the reviews I read, and what I went through, this "lady" should NOT BE THE FACE OF THE COMPANY, sitting outside with her uninviting face, condescending tone, and the thoughts running through her head that she can do whatever she wants!??!?! I understand that I'm a man, and maybe am not as welcome as other clients, but the WEBSITE claims "Lesbian bar but all are welcome!" Total BULL! So instead of having a couple of hard-working professionals with money to spend (My bf and I) wanting a place to come back to, your security guard treats me like a criminal and with no desire EVER to go back OR send any of the hundreds of people I check in and out every week at my hotel! I will never recommend this place to anyone, in fact, this matter isnt over in my opinion until I'm apologized too! Big mistake!!!! read more

Dear Wild Rose, I really tried to like you... really I did. However, I was sorely disappointed to find that at 1 AM on a Friday night, the music ground to a halt and the drinks were swiped by a bitter waitstaff shortly thereafter. It was sad enough that the bar was almost empty when we had expected the dance-craze fury of a late night party. Could a city like Seattle really only have one lesbian bar? And could it really be so pathetic and cold (and small?) Sadly, the answer appears to be yes. If you're looking for an utterly unitimitading nonevent for women who dig women, you've found it. Wildrose remains a good option for a casual night out, and I'm especially fond of Monday triva night ($2.50 micro brews, $2 to play trivia). Everyone who works there is super nice. I never go to Wildrose on the weekends or dance party nights - I prefer it when it's fairly quiet as just a good bar to hang out at. read more

I am a regular at the Wild Rose. This is why I'm so surprised to be writing this kind of review. I believe that this place is amazing and has a lot of potential. I came here, was the only patron, and was completely ignored. I left after one drink and Tiffany, the bartender, acted surprised. The greater surprise would have been if I had stayed after the neglectful service. She was busy chatting with a friend for almost an hour. Really, hire real bartenders or just close on days you don't want to do that. Jay is equally awful on Wednesdays. She purposefully ignores people even though it's her job to be the bartender. I really thought I loved this place but the service really is abusive. Stay away. Go to the unicorn. Go anywhere but here during the week until they get it together. Ended up here on the eve of St. Patrick's Day around 1030, so the scene was a bit busy. $3 cover charge, id check and my girl and I were in. First impression walking in was wow this place is packed. So we decided to grab some drinks before heading to the dance floor and was surprised that unlike most bars I've been, there was an actual line to order drinks. Bar mandated, I suppose to make ordering fair and prevent cutting. After getting our drink on, we hit the very crowded dance floor. The DJ was pretty awesome and played some bumpin music. It keep my girl and I dancing through the night. I read through some of the lesser reviews and guess I'm pretty fortunate not to come across any blatant rudeness, so I'm happy to say I'd come back for sure, at least for the music and maybe to see a unicorn and squirrel make out again ;) read more

My wife and I were on vacation a few summers ago and experienced Seattle Pride. We went here most nights we were in town. It was great! We couldn't have asked for more friendly, welcoming people. Great service, strong drinks, and good entertainment. One night we were there we saw a burlesque show, the next we enjoyed a beer garden and danced to the tunes of Leslie and the Lys. It was the best time of our lives to be honest. I'm surprised to see so many awful reviews. It's a dive bar. It was about 8 pm and I was completely sober. Immediately the lady working the door gave me attitude and almost refused to allow me entry. Because she said she could tell I had many drinks. I told her I had nothing to drink and was just looking for a beer. She laughed at me and said that's what they all say. She reluctantly let me in but told the whole staff I was shitfaced. The staff gave me a cold shoulder, refused service or interaction and had about several servers circling around me at all times. I didn't even have a drink. Very rude and standoffish staff. My girlfriend and I are 21 and look young, but we showed our valid IDs at the door, paid the cover fee, and went to the bar. Drinks were way overpriced btw, one drink somehow came to about $16. They gave us top shelf stuff just to scam us into a bigger tab and a bigger tip. The bartenders were rude right off the bat and were immediately suspicious. We saw them mouth the word "underage" and pretend like they didn't see us watching them. If you think we look young, just ask for an ID and we can show you that you're wrong! We had one drink each and left, there's just some really negative energy in that place. Alright, I'm a lesbian and I'm kind of fed up with this bar. It's really the only "women only" (well, sort of) establishment in town but the service has become so terrible that I can hardly stand to go into the place. After 13 years of being a dedicated patron and well behaved customer and being recognized by the owner you'd think maybe, just maybe, I'd get a little respect from their bartenders. That doesn't happen. Every time I go in is like the first time, literally. Just when you think you've had a good night and the next time you go in will be just as good, you're proven wrong. You never know if a tenured bartender will be in a "mood" and treat you like crap or actually recognize you and be sort of nice (won't say names but the long, dark, curly haired bartender with facial piercings is ALWAYS in a mood!). Maybe they have become so rigid and moody because they've allowed such a mix to converge there (ie. anyone and everyone) so trust is completely out the window. Allowing straight guys and gals is good on one hand as we preach tolerance so must we tolerate others, but horrible on the other hand as the ONE place that was "ours" is now up for grabs to anyone who should walk by. If you plan to go be sure to have a plan B for the night. Although, I will say it is a great place to see friends I haven't seen in years and for the occasional pitcher and pool on a Sunday afternoon, be ready for a senseless cover charge on weekend nights, some servers who won't trust you no matter who you are, and possibly a straight man in the bathroom stall next to you. read more

Wild Rose is the only Lesbian bar in Seattle.!? It's a total dive and I totally loved it! Bartenders are super fast and the beers and food are cheap. Big fan of the Wild Rose. The bartenders here were very nice to acquiesce to my mixed drink request (more of a tall can and a shot kinda place) and I was able to get down and dirty on the dance floor and make out with some strangers. What else could anyone want? I guess they have food here as well, which I will try the next time I am in Seattle, because I will definitely return to the Rose. Also, I think it is the only lesbian bar. I had a few friends with me that were guys, and one was kicked out for having a bottle outside. Pretty chill little bar, once you walk in (if the name of the bar didn't give it away) you know that this is a gay bar. The servers/bartenders are hit and miss, once time I have stellar service and the time after I left after a drink because it was so bad. I am not gay but this is a fun bar, they have a dj with a small dance floor but so much fun my feet were killing me the next day :) Pretty good food, all american fore the most part. read more
