No need to run high speed lift to top when you didn't make snow
    Steve D.

I've been a pass holder at Wildcat for 16 years it is sad to see an out of state corporation run what is a great mountain into an Orwellen Experience with forced mask and vaccine rules but unable to make snow or run modern lifts. Last year for Epic Pass, Icon resorts in area have been open weeks ago.

Place is like a funeral. One lift spinning to the summit...one lift for greens. Ski shop attendant reading a book could careless about customers. Cafeteria area barricaded and reservation needed even if your fully vaxed and boosted. Ate lunch in my car and there's not a trash receptacle to be found. Entire mountain has thin cover. My home mountain 300 miles SOUTH has 100% terrain open and all lifts spinning. This place ain't it.

Had a great visit today! Our tickets for the gondola ride were free with our Attitash tickets the other day. So glad we made the visit! The views are amazing and it wasn't too crowded. They were collided yesterday because of the rain. The zip line looks amazing also!

Incredible ski resort love everything about this place from the near by parking lot. Big lodge even on a busy day it doesn't feel crowded. The lift to the top is fast and that's 4000 feet up. The trails and views are to die for. There are beginner trails from the top all the way down that are awesome for all ability levels. And last but definitely not least staff here are amazing and trueing love what they do and love helping there guest.

Wow, what a day! It's school vacation week so I was nervous skiing near Boston so I decided to go even father north than I usually go... (I'm a Sunapee, Gunstock guy usually). I arrived at 8:30 as the lifts began to turn, I got a great parking spot and was able to head right to the lodge to get ready. Wildcat offers a free bag storage service (main lodge, downstairs) I would take advantage of this. I started my day with some runs in the beginner area and was very pleased with the friendliness of the staff at the lift. The conditions were great, freshly groomed areas but also some stashes of powder still. After a few warm up runs I took the Bobcat Triple up to the Bobcat peak. From that peak there are many trail options but I recommend the love tunnel and Wild Kitten a great green cruiser. Eventually I made my way over to the Wildcat Express and after a very short wait (like 2 mins) I was whisked up to the top of the mountain. The views from this mountain are amazing and worth the lift tickets price on their own. I took a few runs down Polecat, Catwalk, and Lynx and loved every minute. Overall this mountain was perfect, and well worth the longer ride. Some people might complain there is only one high speed quad, but the triples are great especially when skiing alone as people are less likely to sit with you. Great job, keep up the good work! Even though Wildcat is owned by the same company running Attitash, Wildcat still seems like a local and less commercialized mountain. The conditions are also way better here than Attitash and there's not nearly as many people/long lines. They also just installed even more snow makers so no matter what the weather throws at them they're ready. With a summit just over 4K feet, Wildcat is the tallest in the area and offers 49 trails through dense forest and moderately tough terrain. Plenty of blue trails mostly and not the best mountain for beginners in my opinion. Trails are well groomed, fast, and pretty wide in general. You can also find some glade / tree skiing available, as well as a Terrain Park. Wildcat also offers you the best views in the area of Mount Washington from its summit, and on a clear day you can easily see across to Tuckerman's Ravine/Bowl. The chair lifts are also the fastest in NH and will get you from the base to the summit in under 6 minutes! There's of course ski and snowboard rentals available, as well as half and full day passes. You'll find a small bar/restaurant up stairs, and large cafeteria down stairs for lunch. Prices are comparable to other resorts if not a bit cheaper. I'd highly suggest buying lift tickets online at Liftopia to save money. Overall, just a really fun, yet challenging, mountain and I never go through a season without visiting Wildcat a few times. Absolutely worth the 6 hour drive from NYC!

My husband and I had our first snowboarding experience at wildcat, we took a 3 hour class and then we hit the mountain, even tho you gotta keep in mind this mountain is for experienced people. Is not for first timers. They have good prices the mountain and lifts are always in good shape and everyone is friendly! Also perfect if you don't want crowds!!

(NOTE: This review is for the GONDOLA ride only. I would give it good rating (3.4 out of 5)). OK... it has come to this... in my teens, 20s, and 30s and even early 40s... I hiked mountains... now I take some type of transportation or aid to get to the top! :-) Check-in was easy. It cost $40 for 2 adults and 1 child in 2015. We were truly blessed that we could bring our ailing dog on the trip for one last adventure. The views we had were SPECTACULAR and breath taking from the moment we boarded to the summit. Definitely bring your camera! The type that makes me want to invest in a high quality camera. The biggest issue I had with this experience was the ride itself UP... to sum it up... it was absolutely MISERABLE! The 3 of us plus doggie was placed in a 4 seater 95% enclosed gondola. It was only 70 as the summit and we rode up in full sunshine... the temp must of reached 90+ in the cabin. The ceiling was very hot. I joked with my wife that they were slowly baking us for dinner. LOL!!! Then it gondola itself did not constantly move... it kept starting and stopping, starting and stopping. This was because the loading process was very slow and not organized. Come on people load and unload quickly. I was a SWEATY mess by the time we arrived at the summit. The poor dog was panting. *** TIP: BRING WATER *** Unlike other SKI resorts (e.g., Cranmore, Gunstock) there is no mountain top pub to purchase beverages. That would of helped. The views at the top were AMAZING and so clear! There are lots of places to walk around but we stayed near the summit. *** TIP: Bring a lunch -- enjoy a lunch at the top *** RIDE DOWN was better or this would of been 2 stars... we got into a Gondola that had a vent at the top and that made all the difference.. it was so much cooler... It appears that only 1/2 of them have that... Would I do the gondola again? Eh, probably not. Would I ski here? YES!!!!

    terrific views from Wildcat!!

While their lift tickets can be a bit pricy, hitting them up during the shoulder seasons can help with affordability. I've been here in both early winter and late spring and found the trails to be in good condition! As someone who sticks to the greens with an occasional blue mixed in, their trails offer enough variety to keep me entertained throughout the day. I like having my pick of 4 chairlifts and a gondola to check out different sections of the mountain. On my last visit, there was a very challenging weather day the day before my visit and it was clear the staff were hard at work overnight to groom the trails. Throughout the day, they were actively working to open additional trails (at which they were very successful) as well as firing the snow machines to get other parts of the mountain open as soon as possible. The lower lodge is straightforward, offering plenty of seating to change into your ski boots and eat a meal. The food is pricy but we always try to make sure we have options out in the car to manage our costs throughout the day. That isn't unique to this ski resort of course though. The upper lodge at the top of the gondola is nice as well. Unlike the lower lodge, their bathrooms are on the same level as the entrance so no having to manage stairs in clunky boots. Gorgeous views of Mount Washington from the peak! Worth it on a bluebird day!

We got here for the first time on the Indy Pass as we have been visiting Indy areas, some of them for several years in a row. Black Mountain is a short drive away from downtown Rumford, a paper mill, quaint town of 6,000 people featuring historic homes and a working downtown. Arriving at Black Mountain, the large lodge is quite welcoming, with just about every conceivable need within the lodge. Once outside, the beginner's Novice Lift provides optimal runs for novices or warmups. The main lift, although a slow fixed triple, allows access to most of the 1,100 vertical terrain and a variety of trails. It should be said that with some effort and uphill hiking, there is another side of the mountain, glades galore, that is accessible from this area. There is yet another T-bar that provides access to even more terrain. Apres-ski, we were treated to a superb pub with great rock music, plenty of beer, and great company. Overall, the vibe in this mountain is what I remember skiing was like from my youth. Unhurried, civil, friendly, and simple. Awesome place.

I also enjoyed the length and variety of their many trails I could traverse. Was happy to have more options than just a quick up and down in a straight line over a full day of skiing. Their main lift was quick and skiers were able to load efficiently. Lots to look at on the way up. The day of my last visit there were several ski competitions going on just next to the lift so it was fun to watch people competing and see spectators make the trek up to watch as well. Ski patrol were out and about and lots of staff available to check in with as needed. Owl's Head has undergone recent improvements and there are many more planned under the new ownership of Sommet Memphremagog, a consortium of investors who purchased the property from the venerable Korman family, who founded the resort in the early '60s. Upon arrival at Owl's Head, the small drop-off area is immediately net to the brand new lodge which is steps away from the main high-speed quad. The lodge is wide, spacious, with plenty of room downstairs to change and store equipment in either large cubicles or lockers. The smallish ski shop is also downstairs but despite its size, it has great sales and a wide assortment of ski equipment and accessories. Upstairs, on the main floor, the large sitting area has plenty of pegs for hanging packs and other stuff. And there is a mid-size cafeteria with a large food offering. The guest service area is also on the main floor. The lodge is next to a seemingly very nice aparthotel on the premises. Outside the lodge, a large terrace with Adirondack chairs face the Southward sun and the place takes a sort of festive atmosphere. Having donned our equipment, the main Sommet quad whisked us to the top of the mountain, which only serves blue and black terrain from the top. Owl's Head shape has a small plateau and then the slopes descend steeply onto a shallower descent. It needs to be said that the slopes' ratings are quite appropriate to their difficulty. Not much of "slope rating inflation" at this mountain. Their black diamonds are steep, often narrow, and windy. Their double blacks are likewise, extremely steep and rigorous. Along the main runs at the top, there are numerous glades - let's put it this way, there are glades almost everywhere on the mountain. The views from the top are simply dramatic. The expanse of the St. Lawrence Valley spotted with single monadnock mountains rising out of the plain, which surround the spectacularly beautiful Lake Memphremagog, is an unforgettable sight. And the views continue throughout the descent, each angle providing more and more beautiful views. Crisscrossing the mountain, very close to the shores of the lake, the Du Lac quad sends the skier or rider to numerous beautiful blue and green runs, several medium difficulty and easy glades, and one outstanding black diamond, all in view of the new housing construction going on in the lower half of the resort. Two other lifts are worth mentioning; the Bleu drops onto some beautiful blue terrain, which in this case was used for a race course, and the Pettit Quad allowed access to the DuLac terrain from the main lodge. We thoroughly enjoyed our day on this spectacularly beautiful mountain. Staff was courteous and knowledgeable and everyone seemed to be in a festive atmosphere. We are coming back.

The family-run mountain is one of my favourites in the Eastern Townships with its excellent skiing and the lift ticket is one of the cheaper ones out here in Quebec ($50 tax included). It is about an hour an a half from Montreal so it is a little far compared to other mountains like Bromont but it is entirely doable in a day. The neighbouring towns have tons of accomodations so if you decided to stay overnight it would be a cinch. The mountain has around 50 runs and the difficulty rating for each is quite appropriate. I'm a fan of the blues but these are typically my preferred type of run to begin with. There are even a few double black diamonds for the real experts out there. Unfortunately on my most recent visit a large number of trails were closed but it's been a warm winter and that is hitting the ski resorts hard since they just aren't getting enough snow. Even with snow making a lot of hills are struggling to keep a large number of runs open so you can't fault management for that. One side of the mountain offers stunning views of Lake Memphregog and this is my preferred ski area just for the scenery. The crowds here never seem to be bad but then again it seems I always end up at Owl's Head on only the coldest days when most people would rather not be outside. The upside to super cold temperatures is non-existent lines for lifts and not many skiers on the runs. One day the stars will align though and I will get to see what the crowds are like on a nice skiing day. The chalet has a rustic feel to it but the cafeteria isn't the greatest. The food choices are very limited and only so so. The best deal is the meal of the day which features a soup, hot meal and drink for $10. It's reasonably priced and you do get a decent amount of food albeit the quality is lacking. Customer service here is first-rate. On my last visit every employee I dealt with that day was nothing but friendly. They all made pleasant conversation while serving me and in general were just really nice and helpful. This mountain is a fantastic place to ski at even when the weather doesn't cooperate. The quality of the skiing is excellent and they have some great runs to challenge you. Here's to another fifty years (and many more) in business for Owl's Head!
