Lost Valley is a local gem. Great snow, sweet (albeit short) runs, solid food, great beer, friendly staff, and a cozy vibe. Hard to beat if you want to get some fun in close to home, and it also has excellent XC trails past the 3rd lift. read more

Today was my very first time on ski's. I didn't know what to expect. My husband has been skiing for years and he suggested we come to Lost Valley as a "fun starting experience." All I can say is, we will be coming back regularly. The Cub Carpet was a perfect starting point for all ages. (I was worried about a 4 year old kicking my ass) After an hour we ventured out to Squirrel Run. It took me three tries with a little bit of reluctance and tears, by the fourth and fifth time down I was feeling more confident. They have perfect starter slopes and plenty of room for black diamond goers! We were able to have a nice midday snack and relax before getting back out there. The cafe had plenty of options that weren't as outrageously* priced as most ski lodges. (Still pretty high but you know what to expect when you go skiing). We ended our fun day with a nice craft beer at their new bar. That was a perfect ending point to a great day. Good beer, good people, good laughs. The entire staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We didn't encounter one staff member that wasn't smiling and professional. The owners are great people, who love what they're doing and you can't ask for more than that. The owner, Scott, was a pleasure to meet and chat with. Next year we are planning on getting season passes! Highly recommended. 9/10 (women's bathroom was pretty rough, but that's the clientele and not the business. What's not to love at LV? The skiing is terrific and so close to our home - and if you're vacationing from Portland, head to LV. They have ski rentals, an incredibly delicious kitchen/restaurant with a brewery serving incredible beer. The skiing is quite good - two big lifts, no lines, and very friendly folks who are helpful and knowledgable. read more

Very unorganized felt like it was ran by a bunch of high schoolers that didn't really pay attention. To many people for the size of the mountain and a very long wait to get a rental if needed, lift lines were not organized very well. read more

Fun skiing. Not for experts but easy access and great rental fit. Skis felt great. Kids come at 3 pm on weekdays, s come early.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for "The Valley" - it's where I learned how to snowboard (Chipmunk trail, represent!). And that's what makes Lost Valley such a charming spot; the ease in which one can learn a new outdoor sport without a thousand judging eyes watching every face-plant or tumble off the ski lift (which I personally feel is one of the major reasons older folks are hesitant about learning these sports). There's enough secluded areas on the trails where one can safely be self-taught in the art of skiing or snowboarding. Is it a hill in comparison to Sunday River or Sugarloaf? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean it doesn't have a place here in New England. Unless you're looking for something harder, faster, stronger than the intimacy and price value Lost Valley offers is bar none. It's also less busy than the other places, and one of the best areas for night skiing around. I don't know if they still do it, but "back in the day" once a month they used to allow skiing/riding until 12am (currently, they're open daily until 8pm which still rocks). There are few things in life that compare to the sensation of rushing through the Maine woods on a snowboard under a dazzling night sky filled with stars and a full moon so big you can touch. Sincerely. Besides the skiing/snowboarding, there's also a fabulous hiking trail through Lost Valley that I feel not enough people know about. I used to walk it once every autumn. And, usually, there's a fall festival where you can take the ski lift up the mountain and then walk back down it (which is a fun thing to be able to do at a ski area) or take a hayride from Lost Valley to Wallingford's Apple Orchard. All around, Lost Valley is much of what Maine stands for - family, fun, and community connectivity. read more

Great place for a haunted house at the local ski resort. Scary, scary, scary! Friendly staff making the experience fun and enjoyable. Very well organized. The ski resort itself is decorated beautifully for the Halloween season. I have never been in the winter but I was told the skiing was great. Although the resort itself needs a little TLC, which I was told updating was in progress, I highly recommend Lost Valley. read more

Would definitely recommend. We were just in town to get away from the city for a few days. We weren't very inexperienced skiers, so we took a lesson with Al O. He was patient and beyond what we expected. In just an hour of lessons, we weren't pros but we could get down a couple slopes, making turns with no falls. We did about 10 runs and could've gone all day if our legs weren't on fire! The resort was intimate with a fire to relax, and drink/eat. We met great people and had a GREAT day. For a nice casual day at the slopes, definitely go! It was an awesome Maine experience. If you need a great instructor, ask for Al! read more

An excellent little ski hill! No, it's not Sugarloaf --- but you can get rental gear and lift tickets by the hour, you can almost walk there from downtown Auburn, and it's not terribly crowded. There are a few little terrain park areas, some groomers, and something that's trying to be a glade (although I'm not sure it succeeds). A great place to learn --- you don't really need 10 high-speed chairlifts when you're on the bunny slope. Head over to Sunday River or Sugarloaf once you can do laps here without accumulating snow in the back of your collar. The pricing's a little odd --- try ~3 hours for the best cost / entertainment trade-off. Rental gear includes reasonable newer downhill gear, a few sets of pretty-well worn stuff in some sizes, and what looked to me like acceptable beginner snowboard gear. Lost Valley makes a pretty enjoyable day, as long as you know what to expect. read more

Well well well... my family and I came for the Bob Marley special tonight and on the description of the show it stated enjoy some food on us, little did my family and I know that we would have pay an arm and a leg for a tiny morsel of food that was 1) room temp at best and 2) worst than school cafeteria food. Lost Valley is a good place for beginners learning to ski. Their customer service is friendly and top notch. Prices are reasonable and they have a lot of rental gear. Other resorts had run out of rental gear, but Lost Valley didn't. We arrived at almost mid day and the staff at the register were mindful of reminding us that we would be paying for the entire day. We were also asked if we wanted to come the next day to make the full use of the money we spend. Five stars to more such good customer service. read more

Staff here is so unorganized, there's too many people with the same title. I worked here and I don't even know what to call "Barb" but she's basically just the babysitter who does absolutely nothing besides complain. The maintenance guys are always in a bad mood and the owner is a cocky prick. Other than that the job has potential to be fun but the staff is terrible. read more

Tad is worthless and he should not be in charge of teaching anyone anything. He is in charge of the learn to ski program and now I see why Lost Valley is soon to close again. After the public coming in to bail them out, Lost Valley can't do the same after making a mistake on my registration for the learn to ski program. Three other kids are let down also because Lost Valley does not want to do the right thing. Unimpressed and I would highly recommend not going or giving money to them. Thanks for laughing on the phone after someone lost our check and registration for the program and now my kids is let down. Remember this is your future customers but I manage after getting discounted and lied to by three different people that work there it wont be long till you close and go bankrupt. Sad that karma is not returned it is taken and forgotten how a community wanted to keep you open and now I am going to tell everyone I know why you should close. Great place just to have a blast with your friends! If you have a tight budget for the week lost valley is perfect. It is the best place to hang out with your friends on Friday nights. Food prices are a little high so just make sure you bring money or pack food to brim th with you. They have rentals too! read more

As an experienced skier, I don't go here very often anymore, but my first day skiing, in elementary school was right here. My two best friends and I all learned on the same day and we were hooked. We used to come here every week for lessons. This place is so cute and it holds so many good memories. It's the perfect place to learn to ski and a great family place, because with only two lifts plus a t-bar, kids can wander off without adults worrying. It has a nice little terrain park, plus some places where you can ski some glades, but most of the trails can be managed by a beginning to intermediate level skier. There is plenty of tables and chairs inside the lodge, and a grill where you can get your typical ski fare. We used to get slushies and French fries during aprés-ski and eat in front of the (real) fire while warming our feet. read more

Awesome place to go with my young family. Teaching my kids to snowboard has been the coolest experience. They have a decent mix of trails/difficulty. I can still remember we when I first learned to ski, and knowing that I'm making a lifetime memory with my boys is an unbelievable experience. Mountain has really improved a lot since new owners took over in 2016. Upgraded lifts, cleared trees, added a snow tubing park, new trails and other improvements coming too I hear. read more

I have 2 grand sons that wanted to learn to snow board... I ski! I have been going to lost valley since I have been 15.. I am now 54.. that is a long time.... So I got both boys a lesson... I was a great deal.. 2 hour lesson and rentals for both was under a $150.00...The boys learned a lot and the instructors were the best.... 2 weeks later the boys really enjoyed boarding I was so excited that my grand kids, love the sport and we can go all together... So the youngest (7) wanted a lesson, so I got him a lesson.. Not such a good deal this time.... 1 hour lesson and rentals for 1 was a about $140.00, The instructor was a 16 years old kid... very nice! Mind you, my grandson has only been on a snow board 1 other time... so instead of taking him over and giving him a refresher, he took him right up on the lift.... When I came upon them, they were in the middle of the hill... and the instructor said to me.. He keeps telling me he wants his mom.... He was scared! and you know when a kid gets scared, that's it... lesson done! Wanted to get my money back, but NO! They said they would give him another lesson free of charge... FREE! I already paid a 140.00 and I kid you not..... he had a 10 min lesson. I asked my grandson to do another lesson and he said are you kidding me... NO! So I feel I have been RIPPED off.... If their 16 year old instructor was educated on how to deal with young kids. and any one knows you need a refresher, if you have only been on a board once...... I can't believe they did not give me my money back.... To say the least I will not go back.... and If I were you I would think twice before spending money on lessons with a person that don't know how to work with kids.... read more

My husband and I took two of our grandchildren 2/15/16. It was their first time on skis and they had such a terrific time. Conditions were great, staff was friendly, cafeteria was reasonably priced. All around outstanding day. Can not wait to take them again!! read more
