It had two sitting areas, both with stunning views of the lake, a gas fireplace and a Jacuzzi tub. It was a very peaceful and romantic setting. We Also booked an hour in their oasis sauna which is located outside with a large window facing the lake. After sitting in the sauna for 15 to 20 minutes, we stepped outside into 17° winter weather and it was amazing! The staff and the owners, Nicole and Geoff, were all very friendly and accommodating. Each morning we had a delicious breakfast in the dining room. It was a very relaxing getaway, and we highly recommend the Wolf Cove Inn.

Nicole and Geoff have a beautiful inn and were so accommodating to our small wedding. The food is something I really want to highlight, the complimentary breakfasts were so tasty, and everyone loved them. We did a lobster bake for our rehearsal dinner and for the night of the wedding the Microwedding package we had purchased included a coursed dinner. Both meals absolutely blew us and our guests away. Our group's favorites were the seasonal creamed spinach, the hot honey burrata salad, and the filet mignon. We tend to be a little particular about food and the meals could not have been better. If you are debating having any kind of wedding at wolf cove or even just a romantic weekend away I would not hesitate to book here! Thank you to the Wolf Cove Inn team for making our wedding weekend so seamless and beautiful!

This little place has a lot going for it, despite its age. If you were in Pacific Palisades and you…read moresaw it, you might say "Ô yikes ô!" - but this is South Paris, Maine, and things are different up here. Goodwin's is old - very old - and it looks it. That said, our room is *clean*, and everything works, more or less. Today the temperature is about 95° F, at somewhere between jillionty-seven and seven jillionteen percent humidity, and the little A/C unit in our room keeps the place comfortable. There's a fridge and a microwave in the room, both clean and functional. The drape pulls don't work that well, but you can close and open them by hand. The bathroom door won't close completely - the wood has swollen from the humidity, but if the handyman took a sander to the top, that could be fixed easily. The bathroom was well-cleaned. The showerhead must have been installed back in the days before the government took to shoving its nose in everyone's business, and to Pluto with water-saver fixtures, thank you... the absolutely Amazonian cascade of hot water that greeted me when I turned it on was enough to make me cheerfully forgive any other shortcomings the room might have had. If they fixed up a few things in the room, I'd gladly give them an extra star despite the age of the facilities - it's reasonably priced, and they're doing their best to keep the place up. I've been in a lot of hotels and motels that looked nicer on the surface but where the overall experience was much, much worse. Edit: As of 2013, the place has had a thorough shut-down and comprehensive remodel. I haven't been inside any of the rooms since, but I'm told it was a significant upgrade.

My first question after walking in the room: what upgrades???? The room had an awful cigarette stench (was probably a smoking room at some point), the carpet was dirty, dingy and had burn marks in it, the bathroom window was covered by an old hand towel, the tv remote did not work, and I had some serious doubts that the comforter on the bed had been washed lately. We were placed directly next to the office so we heard the phone and conversation all evening. I felt so disgusting after sleeping there but I was not even about to put my bare feet in that shower. I hopped in the shower the second I got home. Yes, it was cheap ($59) but we will never stay there again. My advice, shell out a little more money and stay at the motel down the road.

Every part of the experience here is wonderful. From driving up and seeing the beautiful manor and grounds, to checking in and seeing your room, and to enjoying daily breakfast and fresh coffee. Every room has AC and heat, as well as its own bathroom and complimentary grooming soaps! The rooms are unique and the real handcrafted wood furnishings in each tells a story of the past. The water pressure is excellent and the water can become glacier ice cold or boiling water hot in just a few seconds. Very refreshing in the morning! Jill is extremely accommodating and will help answer any questions about the town and offer recommendations for outings and local dining. She is also a great storyteller. Part of my family's wonderful experience here was truly Jill. One of the kindest souls you'll ever come across! Ask her about the history of the manor and how it was passed on to her from her parents! Jill is a professional baker and every baked treat is made daily and is so delicious!! We enjoyed fresh chocolate chip cookies, apple pie French toast, banana cake, and more just in our 4 day visit! Omg YUM!! The covered porch is an oasis itself with a great view of the carefully tended garden and grounds and wildlife. I sat out here and read a book with my fresh coffee every day, even on the rainy ones. Very minimal bugs and great weather (August time). Just a 20 min walk to the local general store, pizza place, and ice cream stop- as well as a FANTASTIC view of Long Lake!! There are sitting areas right by the general store that overlook the lake as well. If you are looking to get away and unplug, the Greenwood Manor Inn is exactly where you want to be! If you want to get away but still stay on the grid, complimentary free high-speed wifi is also provided- along with lots of comfortable sitting areas, board games, books, and all-day tea bar. This place and the wonderful couple who run it are truly magical and this place is a gem in Maine! Highly highly recommend!

They were some of the most genuine and kind souls that bring extra charm to the beautiful landscape of the inn. I began discussing the event with Jill a few months ago. From our first conversation, she won me over as the winner of our event space. The menu, space, and overall price were exactly what we were envisioning for the bridal shower. She was beyond excited and accommodating in planning the event alongside us. The day before the shower, we were able to drop off all of the supplies and explore the inn. The morning of the shower, the tables were all set up, and Jill took the time to making our simple plates into gorgeous place settings. For the shower, we enjoyed a brunch with a mimosa bar. Every single menu item was beyond delicious from the cowboy quiche (insanely delicious) to the apple pie french toast (to die for) to the fresh salad (refreshing and sweet). All 30 of our guests raved about the dishes and treats provided by Jill. My personal favorites were these tiny apple crumble bars and the freshest blueberry scones I've ever had. We were also able to bring in our own ice cream bar as our shower theme was "She's Been Scooped Up". Beyond the scrumptious pastries and spread, we had a picture perfect April day with clear skies, lots of sunshine, and warmth. The garden view from the patio was the perfect backdrop for the festivities. As each guest said their goodbyes, they complimented the enchanting atmosphere of every aspect of the inn. I would give a 10 star review if possible! I could not recommend this location more if I tried. Be sure to check out this charming getaway spot or event space. You will NOT regret it!!!

Nick and Jessica go above and beyond for their couples and Cassie is an incredible day of coordinator that makes you feel like you're at home on your big day. It was pouring rain all day on Saturday and the whole BMI team made our day so special. We decided early on to have our ceremony in the beautiful barn on site and it was literally the most beautiful set up I've ever seen at a wedding. We couldn't get over how beautiful everything looked. It is such an intimate and beautiful memory that is burned in our brains for life. Our wedding was for about 160ish people so we rented a tent to do our reception outside - this couldn't have been an easier process and the tent looked like a fairy tale out on the yard. When I tell you think is the most incredible wedding venue on the face of the Earth we so mean it. Every single moment our wedding was so perfect and it was really was made possible by the team at the Bear Mountain Inn. The drive to this location was rural but as you get closer the views are so beautiful. We drove by beautiful waterways - not sure if they were ponds or lakes, but they were beautiful and snow capped mountains in the distance - simply breathtaking as you drive further away from civilization. The location is easy to find, it's private enough for your events as well - far away from heavily traffic roads. There was plenty of parking for our group of 38 people (some of us did car pool). The grounds were so well kept - clean and neat and multiple outdoor fire pits to sit around, each with comfy chairs. The views of the water from the Inn grounds were so peaceful. You can also hike away from the water as well. So much nature to just take in, very calming for frayed nerves. The buildings are updated, but remain with a rustic style. Seems like pages right of a catalog. Gorgeous. The owners were so warm and welcoming to our group and very respectful of the privacy of the retreat. They took the time to welcome each of us and get to know us as people. Very much felt like we were guests in their home. It was fantastic. We hope to be able to visit again next year. Beautiful venue for retreats, weddings and gatherings. I highly recommend based on my days worth of experience.

After searching for dog friendly places in the New England area for a couple of hours we finally stumbled upon Pressey House in Oakland, ME on Airbnb. Neither of us had ever heard of the town but a quiet Bed & Breakfast on a lake sounded good to us. A few nights later we made the 3 hour drive to Oakland, ME where we checked into the Granite Suite. Originally we were a little dubious because the walls of the suite are described as being the original foundation of the home from 1850 so we were afraid that it might feel like we were in a dark, damp cave but when our Host, Nikki, showed us to where we were going to be staying nothing could have been further from the truth. Although all the of the walls were either granite or brick, the front of the suite was bright with natural light thanks to the window and door and the back of the suite with the comfy, King sized bed had a cozy feel to it. There are a couple of cool little brick arches in the suite that are a unique architectural feature. The bathroom was surprisingly roomy which you don't always find at a B&B and even though there is no bathtub the shower stall had excellent water pressure and didn't feel cramped . The suite also had a pretty good size kitchenette which was really handy to have the two nights we were there. My favorite feature though was the gas fireplace. Each night my fiancé and I spent hours in front of it playing cards and relaxing. It was especially welcome since it snowed while we were there, and nothing is better than coming in from the cold and warming up in front of the fire. There is WiFi available and our signal was strong enough that we experienced no internet issues on our phones and tablets. There is a main common area that was split into two sections: The front section which has a sitting area in front of a wood burning fireplace and the back section which overlooks the lake and functions as a dining space. The quintessential New England feel of the room is warm, inviting and really makes you think of the long history of the home. Although we were the only ones having breakfast each morning in the common area because everyone else was a long term rental, Nikki made sure that she still pulled out all the stops for us. One morning we had fruit salad, cinnamon rolls, homemade frittata, and sausage and then the next day we feasted on fruit salad, pancakes and homemade corned beef hash. The first night that we arrived Nikki had left homemade cookies in our room. The following day at breakfast she got some ideas of what kind of desserts we liked and we came back from a day exploring the area to some homemade strawberry thumbprint cookies in our room (which my fiancé LOVED). So, saying that Nikki is a good cook, who will feed you well feels like an understatement. Our most favorite part of the Pressey House though was Nikki, her husband Ron and their family (pups included). They were extremely friendly, professional, accommodating in every way and it's clear that they want every guest to have an amazing experience when you stay with them. From chatting with Nikki & Ron we learned that they have just recently purchased the inn and have some big plans for it. We can say with certainty that we will be going back for another visit and we look forward to seeing any improvements that they make since it will make an already fabulous B&B even better. We're also looking forward to getting to see the gorgeous lake that Pressey House sits on during the summertime.
