Learning to ski as an adult is both thrilling and terrifying. While happy with my slow but steady progress, I'm often looking for ski locations offering trails that align with my current ability and offer a bit of a challenge when I'm up for it. Cranmore delivered just that and more. Lots of greens and blues where I could work on my skills, try trails with escalating difficulty, and still kick back when I just want to enjoy myself and not be a ball of nerves. I also enjoyed the length and variety of their many trails I could traverse. Was happy to have more options than just a quick up and down in a straight line over a full day of skiing. Their main lift was quick and skiers were able to load efficiently. Lots to look at on the way up. The day of my last visit there were several ski competitions going on just next to the lift so it was fun to watch people competing and see spectators make the trek up to watch as well. Ski patrol were out and about and lots of staff available to check in with as needed. The lodge itself had everything I needed... free cubbies to store your stuff, bench seating to change into your boots, adequate table space both up and downstairs to grab a bite to eat, indoor and outdoor gas fireplaces to huddle by, a bar and hot foods, and best of all... a bathroom at the same level as where you can ski up to so no having to navigate stairs in clunky footwear. My family of four visited Cranmore during the 4th of July weekend. We had fun! It was a lot less crowded than I expected. There were only two eateries open, so the menu was limited. The mountain coaster was the best part, and we only waited a max of 5 min in line, and ended up riding it 6 times. There was a longer line for the Soaring Eagle zipline and Swing, only because they can only hold a few people at a time. The chair lift had nice views. The trampoline was entertaining, but kinda one note. The inflatable obstacle courses were both scalding hot in the sun and had puddles from rain the night before, so my kids didn't like those. I'd recommend Cranmore Adventure Park for 2-3 hours of fun. read more

We had a 5-star afternoon here! We did the 2-hour unlimited ride pass ticket for a Sunday afternoon in October during beautiful weather. We got there a half hour late to our window of time but still was able to ride the mountain coaster 10+ times. The line at first took 10 mins long to wait but by the last hour of the day there was no one in line. We did one ride on the soaring eagle which was not as thrilling. read more

Fun Mt Biking with wide range of trails for all levels, we were able to hit them all. Rental bikes were mid range requiring multiple adjustments and never dialed in. Pedals are stock plastic with next to no grip making it VERY unsafe when riding many of the trails. If rode again would rent from another shop and if have your own bike then definitely give it a try. read more

Do not rent bikes here!!!! Terrible service at the bike shop, the bikes are heavily used garbage. I rode only the 2 easiest mountain biking trails today: day at the beach and clearing curve. Fortunately I didn't fall once, nothing happened to my bike in the time I was biking. When I returned my bike the mean old man said that the spoke was broken. I googled how spokes can break, it said due to improper tension and messed up wheels. He said it was due to abuse which couldn't have happened when you bike for a couple hours on the easy trails, but they have been using the same bikes for years and obviously wear will happen. So why charge us for someone else almost breaking it? Go to Mt Abram which is 1 hour and 15 minutes away and has great bikes. The trails are pretty nice but get very dry at points, they could benefit from some more trails. They have 4 flow trails and 4 tech trails. The chairlift is so slow, it takes at least 15 minutes to get to the top of the shorter part of the mountain. Do not recommended in the summer, they do have great skiing though. read more

Went last weekend for the outdoor activity and man you get so much for only $34! The alpine coaster was amazing and I could have spent my whole two hours there! The swing was a little too much and the zip line was good! The scenic chair lift up had great views. Would definitely do this again! read more

I'm not sure why Cranmore doesn't have a higher rating. I went skiing here for the first time a few weeks ago and now I'm hooked. It was an incredible experience. Although it was a little intimidating at first the ski rental people were incredibly nice, friendly, and patient. They explained everything about the rental equipment and helped me along the way. I took a 90 minute private lession and while it was pricey it was definitely worth it. The guy who gave the lession was also very patient and friendly. The mountain wasn't too crowded at all but I went during weekdays and not on holidays. I came back several times in the past 2 weeks after that and quickly got the hang of things. Reasonable pricing and very nice area. Excellent mountain for families and beginners but there are also some black slopes for the experts. Can't wait to go back again read more

$115 for a family of 3 to go tubing. One run, up down, over and over again. Total tourist trap. Buy $8 sleds at the grocery store and find a hill, you'll have way more fun. Staff is nice but pay no attention to the end of the run where people flying down the hill can slam into people who have finished their run. With the slightest effort they could have 3-4 different runs with varying experiences, a shorter less scary run just for little kids, something with humps and curves, literally anything to make this worth the time and expense. It's literally $115 just to go down one hill over and over again. And the lodge is expensive and dirty. read more

I would not recommend this resort. We visited yesterday which was a hot day in August. We paid $49 per person and essentially there were 3 rides with long lines. The coaster ride was fun but it was not worth that kind of money. We didn't have a young child with us to enjoy the bouncy houses. This is an amazing beginner's ski area with mostly blue and green runs. The ski school was wonderful. I sent 2 first time skiers to a full day and they loved it and were doing great by the end. I thought my kids would have bailed for sure, but they stuck it out, learned a lot, and loved it. The instructors were nothing short of amazing- thank you to Nathan and another instructor whose name I missed but repeatedly helped my kid up and kept him motivated. It was their "best day ever!" We spent another day tubing which was a blast and not too crazy busy, even for a holiday weekend. We also did the snow coaster and zip line which was an absolute blast. The whole family loved the coaster! I think the tubing, adventure park, and ski school were all at a reasonable price point. Lift tickets are crazy everywhere but a late day ticket discount would have been nice just to get a few runs in. 0 stars. We went to Cranmore expecting a day of fun tubing but was met with an employee on top of the tubing hill who was cold and did nothing but complain to the other workers. All of the riders were stuck sitting around as she was mad about having to push people riding double, down the hill and was just closing lanes down so she didn't have to work two lines at once even though it was a peak time of day. Other workers before her did it no problem. The complaining literally went on forever to the point where her line was backed up and it caused us to only make it down the hill 5 times in a two hour block. Also, be sure to be extremely alert when finishing your tubing run. The workers at the bottom did nothing but stand there and look confused instead of warning people of oncoming tubers. Our daughter was completely wiped out head over heels and they just stood there and watched. Didn't even ask if she was ok or help her up which was insane. I guess they figure if you sign the waiver they don't have to do anything else to ensure the safety of the children. In the morning, we couldn't wait to get there and then couldn't wait to leave! What a shame as it looked like they had a great tubing set up. Save the $50 per person and do something else on your vacation and leave with your bones in tact. read more

Been to Cranmore a handful of times over the last few years. Skiing is always great! today-my sons binding came loose, he just needed a multi-tool or screw driver (usually carry one with us and forgot) went to the ski rental to ask for one, refused as "it would be a liability" said go to the office they should have something there. Went to the office and I wish I remembered the guys name working, but SO rude, said no we don't have that here go to the rental place, told him what they told me, he then said well you want my pocket knife? you asking me for that? Wow. well if you'll tighten the screw sure. He told me to go to the hardware store. I was baffled. Have never been spoken to so rudely before. Honestly makes me never want to go there again. read more

Went sledding with my family. 2 hr time blocks amounted to 6 rides down the mountain with no breaks. There was not enough staff at the top of the mountain, maybe 3 at best for 7 lanes, one lane closed and two lanes were for photos. Too expensive for only 6 runs. read more

Came New Year's Eve. Bought tickets online in advance. Getting lift tickets was a breeze and snagged myself some free stickers at the desk. We purchased twilight passes to board from 2-8. After 4, only two trails were open, but as a beginner, it was perfect. The conditions were great and the fireworks were even better. Jan 2020 There were 22 of us that went tubing and skiing. It was a great time. The staff was great. The hills were awesome and the snow was great. I would definitely recommend it. They have one lane that has a camera, you scan your jacket tag and then when you get to the bottom you can see the photo. My buddies and I had a great time at Cranmore recently. We ski'd at night, and while there were only five runs open, that was enough for our 4-hour window. I've only been to one place to go tubing and this was the place. You go up like a dirt mountain which kind of isn't that great however it is nice because you go up the conveyor belt basically but you have to stand. However when you get up there I feel like it's very safe. Everyone was wearing mask and they were all making sure that everybody was doing what they're supposed to be doing. My son and I went skiing at Cranmore this past weekend during COVId. We ordered tickets and rentals online. I booked the rental for 10am and showed up at 9:30am. It was quick and painless. We went into one door, grabbed the ski boots and our tickets, grabbed our skis and left out another door. It look 5-10 minutes and that was only because of putting on the ski boots. Everyone at the resort was super nice and friendly. We ate lunch at Meister Hut at the top of the mountain. It has great views and the chicken finger and fries were cooked perfectly. We skied 10-4pm and had a blast. Looking forward to coming back again! read more

The more I snowboard this mountain the more I like it. No it's not like some of the bigger mountains in the area with endless amounts of trails. No it doesn't get the amount of snow as the mountains north of North Conway do. But for the price of a lift ticket and what they have to offer you can't go wrong. Cranmore has so much to offer with the ski trails,snow tubing park, mountain adventure park,couple of restaurants one on top of the mountain ski and board pro shop, rentals on site. And so much more. And if it is a mild winter Cranmore has snow guns and lots of them and a team of people that know how to use them. This is a perfect mountain for beginners with plenty of beginner trails. -----------------------------------COLLEGE STUDENTS BEWARE---------------------------------- Been here twice within the past month and so far I am shocked at how poor their customer service skills are; every single interaction I had with a worker there has been dispicable. If you are 16-25 years of age they treat you like worthless trash and will not give you an ounce of respect. Each person I had to speak to was unprofessional and rude. I have the NH college pass and my friend does as well. Although I have my pass, my friend has not recieved his yet (Waterville Valleys fault). He was promised by both Waterville Valley and Cranmore that if he showed the confimration email for his season pass, then he would be able to come to Cranmore. When we got to the ticket desk (after already calling Cranmore ahead of time and being told it was okay to come and show the email), we were told that we were most likely "scamming" these people and probably cancelled our season pass... You really think I would drive 3 & 1/2 hours out of the way to pull some diabolical scheme?! Couple of conspiracy theorists if you ask me. Do you really think they would say this to an older person? NO. Secondly, another friend of mine who is on winter break bought a ski pass for the day. When he went to the rental shop, he was told he had to make a resevation for skis 48 hours in advance. Seems pretty unfair that he could buy a ticket ON THAT DAY, but then not be ALLOWED to rent (ticket link never menitoned anyhting about not being able to rent). When asking polietly if he could rent, he was told no because they had to prepare for the next day...We went night skiing there was a plethora of skis available. Very dissapointed. If you have the College Season Pass, make sure you skip Cranmore. Clearly they do not mind selling it, but when it comes to honoring their season pass they do not honor their word. read more

We're from Florida. Doing some local adventures. This place was such a disappointment. It's expensive as hell. Took my kids to go on the mountain coaster, tubing, swing, etc. package. Was told on the phone that the coaster was all that was available (besides skiing) due to staffing issues. Went on the coaster, ended up seeing people tubing So we went to go tubing and they closed at 6! Our passes were good from 5-6:30. The price WAS NOT WORTH just to ride the coaster. This place was so disorganized and seemed to mostly be run by teenagers who could care less about doing their job! Don't waste your time!! read more

I have been coming to Cranmore for their snow tubing for many years now however, I am very disappointed in the changes made here. It's much more expensive compared to what they use to be, tubing is now up to $30 each (for adults). Cranmore also installed a new conveyor belt type system which brings you up to the top of the slopes where before, their old system had you sit in your tube and dragged you up the mountain. This old system was much safer. My friend fell hard getting onto the conveyor belt since it moves quickly and obviously our snow boots are wet from the melted snow. The worker didn't even stop the machine for a while since she was too busy talking to her co-worker! Luckily my friend was alright despite hitting her head. Lastly, there is no more going up to the 'higher' snow tubing slopes. Now, the only slopes available are the smaller 'children's ' type slopes which aren't nearly as steep and only have about 6 lanes open. Not to mention, in the past, you use to be able to slide down the slope with your whole family together. Now, they only allow 2 at a time! For the money you're spending it feels like a rip off. Especially for people like myself who remember the 'old' Cranmore. These new changes are definitely not for the better. read more

My thoughts on Cranmore: 1) This was a perfect place to begin learning how to ski. Lift tickets, rentals, and even lessons are "relatively" inexpensive, the instructors are very nice and helpful (especially Rick, ask for him!), and the "green" slopes are manageable. 2) My friends who are good skiers thought Cranmore was too "easy." I don't know why I keep quoting like that. I'll stop. 3) The pub has a good atmosphere. They even had live music during the day. 4) This is a very family-oriented place. So try not to swear too much. 5) They play music on the slopes. Lots of cheesy 90s music, but that's fine with me. It's kind of fun to hear Mr. Jones while you're trying to alternate between french fries and pizza wedges. 6) Everything is close together (lifts, rentals, cafeteria, pub, etc.), which limits the amount of time you have to walk around uncomfortably like a guy in Shawshank. 7) And Cranmore has an interesting history. From Wikipedia: "Cranmore probably would have faded into obscurity if it weren't for Hitler and the German annexation of Austria, where Hannes Schneider had created his ski school. Schneider was an outspoken critic of the Nazis and they stripped him of his title in 1938... Harvey Dow Gibson arranged for Schneider's release to the U.S.... Considering I have an ugly purplish bruise under my left big toenail that's going to take roughly a year to go away (according to the medical advice on the interwebz), I still had a thoroughly enjoyable time learning how to snowboard here two weekends ago. Cranmore is bit of a megaplex with quite literally anything you could possibly need in a skiing/snowboarding resort: a large variety of slopes, short and long, beginner and difficult; a pub that serves respectable food and drink; a ski shop for purchasing equipment and odds-and-ends; lessons; and the typical rental station. It's such a sprawling affair that they have the snowmobile equivalent of hayrides to shuttle you from one end of the park to the other, too. Our two lessons with John were informative enough, and by the end of the second day, I could at least identify the errors I was making on my stance and/or balance. Not that it better enabled me to remain upright while skidding down the slopes, but I felt that I got enough out of the instruction that it was worth the cost for our discounted GET (Guaranteed Easy Turns) courses. Plus, the residual discounts from attending the classes are generous for future rentals/lift passes. And it turns out we went on arguably the slowest weekend of the year and were fortunate enough to never have to wait in a queue for ski lifts. The trails themselves were pretty light on traffic, which was a good thing for me, given I spent roughly an equivalent amount of time on my ass as I did trying to board without slamming into some pitiable unwary skier sharing my track of powder. Speaking of powder, I learned from one of the lift operators that the reason the green slope we tried was so icy and hard-packed was because a number of other trails had been closed due to strong winds, so an unusually heavy number of snow sports enthusiasts had compacted the manufactured snow into the equivalent of water-based concrete. My head definitely got well-acquainted with the slick stuff; good thing the helmet rental was included with the rest of the gear! I could see how this charming getaway could be a regular haunt for many. If I didn't have to deal with the unreliable service, I'd probably be more inclined to come back. As it was, we interacted with some super efficient and friendly folks, while other employees clearly felt they had better places to be. Current process is to get a 2 hour pass good on 3 rides: the alpine coaster, the zip line (chair), and the giant swing. After reserving/purchasing a 2 hour block online-- upon arrival -- I was disappointed to find out the zip chair was not operating. To compensate, we were given lift passes to the top. The 2 hour block only allowed for 2 rides down the alpine coaster and 1 giant swing ride, so I am not sure of the value for the money. The lift was a disappointment as there wasn't really anything to do there but sit down and get a very limited snack menu (although the ice cream was good!). I truly enjoy Skiing Cranmore. This was my 2nd visit here, this time it was just as wonderful as the first time. Pros: the price is great for Active Duty Military, which is GREATLY appreciated! The trails are well kept and easy to get down. The Blue trails keep you guessing at every turn. The crowds are lighter than other resorts, which makes it feel like you have the entire mountain to yourself. The parking is close, no need for shuttles! The lodge at the peak of the mountain is relatively calm, making it a great retreat to grab a drink and some munchies. Cons: rental equipment cost. We had our own boots, just needed skis and poles. A full (ski, boot, pole) package is $38. If you want to just rent skis and poles, it's $38. No savings there, which is rather confusing. The skis were OK, nothing to drool over. One of the chairs shut down mid-day, so everyone crammed onto the quad. But like I said, it wasn't that busy, therefore it wasn't that bad. I will return to Cranmore several more times while I'm in the area. It's very family and beginner friendly!!!! read more

Nice mountain, cheaper than some of the other big mountains in the area. Lots of blue and black slopes - good place to keep the intermediate-advance skier occupied. Greens for the novice/kids as well. Love the new fast chair lift, it goes up super fast and saves you lots of time. We didn't do tubing this time but I have done it there in the past and have enjoyed it. I like the alternative to skiing in case you want a variety of winter activities. Staff is nice. Thank you for having veggie burgers and salads on the menu in the lodge. Always nice to have vegetarian options, hopefully more can be added like soup and chili. Surprised the bar couldn't make me hot toddy though! This is after all winter in New England. I only wish you would have a NH college student ID discounted pass. read more
