First time here, not a bad hill at all. I was expecting something more and exciting but didn't get it. Conditions on 1.8 were above freezing with sun and cloud mix, little wind on north side but manageable. Was there for first chair, put in 24 runs for the day and was done a little before 3:00. Parking was a breeze. Lines were manageable for a weekday, never really waited which was nice. Most trails were open, no woods to really play which was a bummer. For being an Ikon holder, the three hour commute and the tank of gas up was worth checking out. read more

I am a green trail skier so I was happy when I was able to ski with no issues. There were no lines when I went (a few days before kids breaked for Xmas. The staff was friendly and helpful. My husband and I rode the gondola up on our wedding day, with the intention of having our ceremony on the top of the mountain (dang snow blindness!). While we pivoted and had the ceremony elsewhere, we still spent some time on the top and got some wonderful pictures, as Loon is a sentimental spot for us. Every single staff member involved in this process was so kind and accommodating. They kindly stopped the gondola for us to get on and off more easily with my poofy wedding gown (their idea! I didn't even know this was a thing - how sweet!). One of the staff members even let us borrow a jacket for me to sit on so as to not dirty my dress. While we were at the top, one of the staff members directed us to a beautiful spot and came to give us a warning shortly before the gondolas were shutting down for the day. This day was perfect in every way, with a huge thanks to the Loon Mountain staff for making that much more special and stress-free! read more

I visited on a Saturday after some fresh snow fell overnight, and wow, it was crowded. We arrived at 9 and managed to still find parking at one of the small lots adjacent the main lodge area. It was my first time at Loon, so I'm not sure if 10-15 minute lines for certain lifts (longer for the gondola) are usual, but I think the wait time might have been shorter going as a single rather than as a group. We spent the entire day skiing from about 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. In that time, I was able to go on the shorter green warm up route 5 times and the lifts to the green/blue routes maybe 5 times and managed to make it to the less busy South peak to do a blue once. I found the South peak Boom run blue to be pretty steep/intimidating in some areas, but the last stretch is beautiful as the sun came out in the afternoon and lit the snow-covered trees. Unfortunately, all the trails were quite bumpy and icy all over which was not ideal. I still had fun and got to challenge myself by navigating miniature moguls. The price (as with skiing in general) is a commitment at about $150/person excluding rentals. read more

Love this place. Been to five ski areas in the early season and Loon has been the best in terms of open terrain, ski trails and open venues. We got here knowing that early season usually means lower service, one lift open and a couple of trails. What a pleasant surprise. We had the Mountain Express gondola open providing top-to-bottom trails, as well as the North Peak Express open, which accesses black-diamond terrain. The base depth seemed like mid-winter Service was superb, friendly and happy employees and as a result, cheerful customers that made the day super pleasant. Great job by the Loon team for making this early season opening such an amazing one. read more

This place is amazing and huge. Great for families. ! We stayed here early October during leaf peeping season. They have the gondolas, bike, and so many other activities available. Breakfast available but it's very limited and if you don't get there at 730 you are getting scraps by 830; they do not refill; not worth it if it's not part of your room rated. They have Pools, spa center, an activity center and so much more. And in the winter ofc skiing. This place is huge and the nice thing is it's a park like center so you can feel comfortable coming with the family and allowing the kids to run around free. Plenty of parking. Our room was spacious. We had a side view of the mountain and gondolas, and back view of the hotel which was the spa center/outdoor pool/jaccuzzi. Beautiful sunset views and gorgeous sunrises. They have a beautiful little river. Really peaceful. Staff is really nice. read more

First time I've skied in 2 years! Got my skiis waxed and tuned and took a digger on the first run! Oops! And it snowed on Monday about 4 " , so the conditions were primarily packed powder with some hard pack. It was 25° with hardly any wind. And above average New England ski day. They've added a lot of terrain over the years. I hadn't been there in 20 years. I've never ridden on a 8-pack chair with a bubble. Very fast! Unfortunately the newest terrain wasn't open yet. But I would like to go back and check it out. read more

Customer service at guest services was amazing , had issues with equipment and they made sure I was able to use my pass another day very class act. The tuning/PRO shop first level , very disappointed in you not fixing my boot when the BOA lace broke. How do you not have that piece of equipment when you literally sell BOA boots and BOA sends the equipment free of charge to replace. Very frustrating. Killed the whole day . The black diamond pub was fantastic but the fact they don't let you accumulate BOYNE REWARD POINTS , is mind boggling. When asked about it they said were loosely affiliated....??? Receipt proceeds to print with a big LOON logo on it....loosely affiliated.... Grilled cheese tomato soup was great , beer selection 10/10 service was spot on. Food IMO is best on the mtn. A lot of other gondolas in and around Lincoln, New Hampshire were closed when my family was visiting mid-October 2020, so we were pleasantly surprised that the one at Loon Mountain Resort was still open! My mom wanted to get a "tree top" view of the awesome Fall foliage and she was in leaf peeper paradise as we ascended up Loon mountain in the gondola. Price of admission ($22 for adults, $20 for seniors) allowed us to go up and down the mountain as many times as we wanted for the day (although we just went once so that we could tour other parts of the area). Pandemic precautions are enforced and everyone must wear a mask or face covering, one group/party per gondola car and social distancing is recommended. The gondolas do not completely stop as you load and unload, which worried my mom, but we managed just fine. Also, they can sway a bit on the ride up or down the mountain depending on wind gusts and this is not a recommended excursion for those with a fear of heights. There's a small cafe at the top/where the gondolas unload as well as a fire tower you can climb if you want even better views. Signage lets you know what you're looking at (other mountains, ponds, etc.), which definitely came in handy. We would definitely come back next time we visit New England as we would love to see the mountain when it's covered in snow! read more

We've been up here many times years ago and on a recent visit we decided it was time to go back up for a look again. The people working there were very friendly and the ride up the gondola was very pretty. But, once we got up there the views were poor. The trees have grown a lot and has blocked any great views and picture opportunities. We have many pictures in our collections of beautiful scenery and we just couldn't find it this time (including climbing to the top of the fire tower). Save your money, there are better views at turnouts on the side of the highways. read more

They used diesel to get the gondola running but with 40 minute waiting in lines i decided to leave before my first run. Too much beginner terrain. A Saturday on a long weekend and Loon was bumpin'! So bumpin' that we had to park in a lot down the road and be shuttled in and snow tubing was sold out for the whole day... little disappointed so we ended up at their adventure park area. We had 4 adults, 2 kids (6 & 8.) They ice skated and went zip lining. As it is a small zip line, its beautiful over a little stream an a beautiful backdrop! The kids loved it! The ice sating is a make shift rink. No walls to help hold yourself up or stop if going too fast. I can't imagine skating if there are a lot of people, luckily we only had one other family on the ice when we were there. We would try Loon again- just maybe not on a 3 day weekend. read more

Awesome big time mountain with a small mountain feel. Skiied here new years week and had little to know wait the whole time on the lifts and gondolas. Terrain was well groomed and had a nice base. Whether your a beginner or expert this is a perfect mountain. The southside is a nice quiet part of the mountain if your more of an experienced skiier or boarder. Loges are nice and have a few nice bars. read more

Two separate ski days, same result. They shut down the mountain every time there is a hint of weather. As we pulled in the parking lot on MLK day (Monday, $120) the attendants were screaming, "Why are you here!?!" mocking their guests for coming during a snow storm (5-8"). When getting our tickets we were told that only 2 lifts were open because of wind limiting you to about 1/3rd of the mountain with only lower terrain. It was definitely windy, no doubt there. We had 1 run, as we got to the base, they shut down both of the remaining lifts by 10:15 AM. Again, I've been here 4 times, its happened twice. They are trigger happy when it comes to shutting down. Then we went in the bar, which was fun. Between 1-2:00 PM the wind had stopped, the sun came out and it would have been perfectly safe, but, they couldn't re-open because they sent all their employees home. In days leading up, they only had 40 trails open. I'm pretty much done coming here. I cant afford to plan an entire trip around a mountain that is so willing to shut down at the drop of a hat, disregarding their guests effort to travel there. read more

This place is one of the circles of hell. I think if you have a season pass it's fine, but I've made the mistake of coming here now three times in my life and every year I end up at cannon. Here is a typical experience: 1. All the online ticketing machines are broken except one 2. Regular ticket line is a mile long and only one window is open. 3. Rental center is 85 degrees and will take a minimum of an hour and a half (and this yearwe just needed a forgotten helmet). I have skiied in many places, rented from many places, and never found a rental center that matches this sense of inefficiency. 4. Indoor store is closed, which forced me to 3. 5. Sent my daughter to ski lessons, found out she was lying on her face eating snow all day. I can't even comment on the snow. I'm always too angry about the Loon "process" to enjoy myself. read more

Nice and well maintained long trails, plenty of trails for all levels. We hold a seasonal pass here. So convenient to hop right off 93, very easy access. One of the best mountains in New England area. Foods can use some improvement in quality though. read more

My wife and I had an excellent time at the resort, the pub had wonderful food for dinner and lunch. The breakfast is ok, but shouldn't turn you off from the wonderful pub food. The resort was clean, and was quiet at night. I couldn't have asked for a better time. read more

The resort has some work cut out. Not a pleasant experience during my last visit. The resort was overwhelmed and had difficulties handling the snow and visitors coming to ski. Long traffic lines, bad and inconsistent communication about parking (or the lack of parking to be precise) causing a huge traffic jam, initial long lines at lifts, slow lifts and a less than helpful employee who could not be bothered to give alternative parking suggestions when asked, coupled with un-groomed runs, made for a very underwhelming experience. Management is patting itself on the back for handling the situation well, but I complete disagree and so do most guests that I talked to and even your employees! No plan B and apparently no real plan A in place. Don't think I will be back. read more

This review is for the winter skiing season. We came here with a couple of friends to celebrate a birthday. We ended up taking a full day ski lessons which cost $200/person. They first analyze your technique and then divide you into groups depending on your skill level. The mountain wasn't too crowded, and it was nice that we were able to skip the lift lines since we were with an instructor. Most of the mountain has blue and black slopes, so if you're not very experienced, we'd suggest you to go to another mountain in the area. Food here was OK, normal pricing for ski resorts. We probably won't come back for skiing, but definitely want to come for the summer hiking in the area. read more

I can't think of a better way to experience a year since Covid times started then enjoying a ski getaway. This was perfect because the drive to Loon is easy, right off the highway. 3 hours from home. The Snow was great! Staying Slopeside was choice! The accommodation was comfortable clean. The front desk staff at loon mountain club were super nice. But the restaurant food included with the stay was lackluster. Breakfast was decent., lunch in the bar was good, but dinner was subpar. Very tough to contact them to order. Then the Prime Rib was very tough. I will be back to stay slopeside again at Loon. The gym was great and convenience of staying so close is unbeatable read more

I usually love Loon, but yesterday the lifties were atrocious. I got thrown off of a lift yesterday because the barrier string got wrapped around my friends ski, and I wasn't asked if I was okay or anything. I asked questions to the lift operator on where I should stand or move to and she wouldn't even respond to me. Then, at the big 8 person chair a group of people got knocked over, and someone even looked hurt, and the lift operator came over and made fun of them and criticized them. I understand it's busy this time of year, but jeez you think a simple "are you okay"? or at least being kind would suffice. read more

Love, Love, Love! i love how i got a room and could overview the mountains, they have a free sauna, steam room,showers,pool and indoor pool and outdoor pool! the only thing i disliked was the wait for the restaurant built in to the hotel, we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for a table, and there was a party of 5 behind us and we were a party of 5 and they got to go infront of us, but they apologized and gave us free drinks and took off a salad off our bill, overall very nice but you don't get a lot of signal out here but the hotel comes with wifi so that's one thing i loved. the sunsets were very pretty. read more

We went here to take the gondola ride to the top of the mountain. It was a beautiful day and I was really glad that we had that experience together. The resort is very well kept and very busy, they had two weddings in the resort that day and yet there were people doing zip lining and the gondola and rock climbing and all kinds of at other activities and yet it was not crowded. Visited Loon for the first time last weekend and loved it! Lots of pros, few cons. PROS: - Lots of intermediate trails with lots of different lifts/areas of the mountain - Friendly staff - Decent snow even after freezing rain/rain the night before - AMAZING waffles from The Waffle Hut CONS: - Rental process seemed a bit cumbersome and took a little while - Packed apres ski bar (see my other reviewe for the Blue Ox Lounge) - Expensive - but all ski mountains are these days! read more

I hardly ever post reviews with ratings this low. To be honest, this would have been a 1-star review if it weren't for the pleasant staff at the resort. We decided to have a spontaneous getaway after hosting Thanksgiving for 22 guests. My 15 year old wanted to get a head start on the ski season, so instead of our usual trip to Cranmore, we decided to try something new. Man, I wish we went with good ol' Cranmore. We arrived early afternoon on Friday and checked in at the front desk. It took us over 10 minutes to find parking in the tight/packed garages. Once we finally got a spot and headed to our room, we found that the folks checking in to the opposite room were unpacking and blocking the shared hallway. We had to wait another 10 minutes before we were able to drop our gear and bags into our room. The room was un-impressive. The view was nice, but it seems like the rooms have not been maintained in a very, very long time. There were white streaks running down all of the walls in the bathroom (i'm really hoping this was bleach), the toiletries were few, basic and blah. The shower curtain was stained. The kitchen was OK. We wanted to make a pot of coffee on Saturday morning, but alas, no filters. I made sure to pick some up at the front desk for Sunday morning. The room had 2 murphy beds that pulled down, calling these beds is being extremely generous. I'm not even sure they were mattresses and not just sheets pf plywood. I woke up with severe back pain. I booked a massage at the spa for Saturday evening. We dined at the restaurant a total of 3 times. All meals were fine, but very expensive! If you are on a budget, my advice is to take the short drive to a local eatery. Overall, not a great experience. We may be back to ski because the skiing was great, but we'll definitely use Air BnB or find another area hotel. read more

We took the gondola up the mountain and had a fantastic experience. We spent time exploring the caves which was a blast and better than the Polar Caves in our opinion. The view was beautiful and so worth the trip up. We decided to walk down the mountain while playing disc golf and had a great time. It doesn't take long to explore the top of the mountain and the caves but it was worth it. The disc golf course was fun but grass was long on some holes and be prepared to lose discs along the way. All in all, it was a fantastic morning. read more

Okay first off today was epic December skiing, 25 degrees and sunny even if it's mostly man made snow... Here's where my complaints start with this fucking mountain. It's early december and it's $76 a day to ski, give me a fucking break. Not to mention that on the website it had pre season rates posted. This mountain lives off the fact that they have a gondola and not many others do. By the way the lines are ridiculous to get on this. This is for the ski resort, not the hotel. Great mountain! 51 trails were open with 10 lifts including an enclosed gondola and 3 express quads when we went. The staff was fabulous and they even had tissues when you got off the lift, nice touch. Prices were reasonable, although i do wish they had a half day option. We didn't use it but they have a lift for the tubing area which is great for when you have little ones with you. The area has some nice restaurants as well. Will definitely be back to Loon! read more
