Went to watch my daughter snowboard for her first time. I am disabled and cannot walk up stairs. I went with my daughter to get her rental equipment, everyone was so nice and made the process easy. After that The shop called someone to take me up the elevator!! Which I was grateful for. I was able to watch my daughter from a distance. The mountain was stunning the day was beautiful!!! I started skiing as an adult, and Pleasant Mountain is where I learned to ski, so it will always have a special place in my heart. The mountain in general is a great place to learn to ski, as it is small, and there is one side of the mountain that lends itself to beginners with a couple of trails. However, since I have progressed as a skier, the summit is the best place to be. There are a variety of trails, and it gives you access to the trails going to the East Lodge, which are some of my favorite blues and black trails. The views are also fantastic. Pleasant also has nightly skiing throughout the week, which is also a plus. Why 4 stars? I contemplated a 5 star rating, but my one critique was that in previous years they used to groom the terrain before night skiing, and now they do not. I wish they would, because I would go to night skiing more often, however, I find that the night skiing gets very icy and/or mogul-ey, which are not the conditions that I like to ski. Overall, this is a great place to ski for a smaller mountain, and I look forward to it's continued growth being apart of the Boyne group! read more

I grew up skiing at Shawnee Peak and have a special place in my heart for this mountain. I still ski here weekly and really enjoy the small mountain feel. With that said, I wish the mountain would bring back evening grooming. By 3pm most of the trails are rough and not all that fun to ski on. These are not conditions I see when I go to bigger mountains. I rarely night ski anymore because the conditions are not worth it. Grooming the mountain around 4 again would make this mountain amazing. read more

This review is for the ticket purchasing process. The mountain itself was fun, short lines, good terrain for intermediate skiiers. Tickets go up in price as you get closer to when the mountain opens. They tell you this and tell you to purchase online. I attempted to purchase tickets online for $50 for adults and $34 for a junior and repeatedly got this error message. No one answered the number they said to call. I kept trying to buy them and the price went up to $54 for adults and $35 gor juniors as we got closer to opening time. When I got to the mountain I went to customer service when and they said that my name and birthday were in their system under a different email address and that was the problem. I had never been there before but apparently they use the same system as Loon and Sunday River, where I purchased tickets over 8 years ago and had used an older email address. Had the error message told me this was the problem I would have tried using my old email address but it did not. I ended up having to pay the higher price. This is not good customer service. Until this bug with the website is fixed, the mountain should honor the lower price read more

My son and his friends set up a corrugated tube as a rail today at the mountain ski patrol told them they couldn't do it and made them clean it up the boys understood, complied completely and respectfully. After being spoken to by ski patrol my son told me Katie from guest services took it upon herself to find and scold the boys again, and lectured them for 10 minutes, all while threatening to clip their passes, and telling them that they wouldn't be welcome back again, which I think is completely inappropriate and out of line considering it was already handled by ski patrol. If it was that big of a deal, me or my wife should've been called it is completely inappropriate to talk to my 12 year old child like that. I understand that the boys shouldn't have set that up themselves, but that being said there is no park at the mountain, not even a single box or rail set up for them to hit. Not to mention half the terrain on the mountain is closed. It should be Pleasant Mountain's employees job to encourage our youth in the sport not to discourage them and turn them away from the sport. If there was a park set up there would be no reason for the boys to have to do that in the first place. Very disappointed with today's Pleasant mountain experience. read more

My girlfriend and I went to Shawnee Peak 2-26-21 for the L.L. Bean ski/board night. I thought the prices were very reasonable. We purchased our tickets and rentals online. As beginners, we spent a good amount of time on the carpet, but finally conjured up the strength to hit a green circle. We did about 8 runs throughout the night, and the lines to get on the lift were very minimal. The Burton rental boards were great, and we loved the bindings, although paying extra for a helmet doesn't make much sense. Being only an hour away, we will certainly be back to enjoy a day on the mountain! read more

Loved this little ski area. It's in a bit of a time warp, structure wise but the mountain is spot on perfect. The conditions were great with fresh snow and well groomed trails. First off, Sue and the ladies in the office area were wonderful. I scored a super AAA deal for two afternoon lift tickets, a lesson and rentals saving 16.00! Nice trails and super instruction. Ron took me up on my 4th lesson/4th snowboard experience and helped me crank it up a notch. I oved the rental gear. My Burton LTR was a great board!! My friend is an expert and rode the park until 9:30 PM. He love the VW bus and bug with rails. They have tubing area with a huge blow up landing in a big air bag. He did comment on the weird conveyor lift thingy that is not so well liked at SP. I did not use that lift. We sat in the upper bar listening to Irish music, sipping beverages, eating ok food. It was a fun lively vibe, low key, nothing fancy. Such a pretty place. I loved the view from the top. Amazing..I'd go back. NO crowds. One little thing; they don't have a fancy schmancy lift in the area I cruised and there was a big drop at the top landing with no slow down so I fell twice but made it up quick to get back down the amazing ride. read more

This is pretty decent mountain if you plan on going night skiing. It's got more then 3/4 of its trails open at night and should be good if you don't get a lot of snowboarders. If you plan on coming on a Monday, rethink it because the boarders will destroy this mountain within the first hour of night skiing hours. Other then that, the Restaurant upstairs is very good, but a little expensive. read more

I went night skiing here for Monday Night Madness; every lift ticket is $13 from 3:30 to 9 pm. That deal is Insane. Many ski resort lift tickets run equivalent to $13/hour, and Shawnee gives you up to 5 hours + for $13 total. The triple lift to the top has a new conveyor belt that shuttles skiers and riders to the right spot while loading the chair. I thought it was difficult to balance on, and as i loaded the chair and it swept me uphill, the chair's low clearance caused my board to drag on the rubber/plastic of the conveyor belt. Normally, this surface would be snow. i've never seen this contraption anywhere else. I think it's odd and i don't like it. It's a minor inconveniece, but many people are self conscious about loading and unloading the ski lift, and it makes the process more complicated. Though it may help kids and novices feel safe getting on the lift for the first time, so that's nice. If i were investing in my ski lift operations, I'd rather install a detachable quad that loads and unloads at slow speed and flies up the mountain. and some better signage leading up to the resort entrance. There was lots of groomed terrain, manmade snow, lights everywhere (almost), and powder if you looked for it. Maybe 1/4 of the mountain was closed, including the east side. Not too many people at all. Lots of kids early on, and a few stragglers later at night. I snowboarded 10 miles in 4 hours for $13, and I can't wait to do it again. read more

Mountain has decent terrain. Something for skiers of various abilities. Price is great. Half the cost of what Sunday River and Sugarloaf are charging. Decent bar. Food isn't bad. I would give them a good review but they have a major customer service issue. Some of the lift attendants are absolutely obnoxious. The sales office lied to us at the beginning season regarding the ski passes we purchased. Told us we could use them during the week or weekends and carry them over to 2021-2022 season if we didn't use all of them. None of that was correct. The price is right but the customer service is atrocious. If you have an issue free day I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you have any issues requiring assistance from the staff, good luck! read more

This is such a quaint ski mountain. There are trails for every type of skier. Sundays after 12.30 are only 29.99$! The amenities are basic but sufficient. Shawnee Peak is a family resort. Today every lift and run was open. Grooming was awesome. We will definately be back. read more

I grew up skiing on this mountain. It's small, but most of the skiers are good, so it's an affordable and fun place to ski. It also has one of the prettiest views I've ever seen. Here's a tip: park on the East Side, pack a picnic basket, and you'll be more likely to score a picnic table in the sun to eat your lunch. read more

Shawnee Peak is a decent mid sized mountain. It has nice views from the trails, is pretty close to Portland and is uncrowded. My experience with the snowboarding school was acceptable. If you don't live in Southern Maine there isn't any point in going, (this keeps the crowds down). read more

My family fell in love with this mountain the minute we pulled into the parking lot. Friendly staff helping you park and un load all the gear. The trails are long enough for the advanced and short enough for the beginners. My 4 year old loves the two jib parks and my 8 year old loves that she can meet up with friends almost every weekend. I just tried Shawnee for the first time and was really impressed. Its not a huge mountain, but has great terrain. Snowmaking coverage is very high, and snow surface was excellent. Definitely a great place for families - I understand the ski school is strong, and is just at that great scale that will make a family comfortable. Of course the price is key too. Extremely Disapointed in decisions to continue to cut back hours of operation (considerably over last couple years), services & snow making operations. The product is not what it used to be & their staff is a shell of what it used to be as well. Most employees just seem to go through the motions in their daily tasks & are not capable nor passionate about their jobs. The service in their restaurant is consistently poor as have been multiple times in recent years. Also hiked the East Side on 12/30 & there are still lots of trees down over trails, still not cleared from storm a month ago & a large leak in one of its snow making air pipes (all rusted out). During 2 days this Christmas vacation week, with dry conditions & temps below 25 degrees, they choose not to make ANY snow. The optics are really BAD! Clearly cut backs are the priority & the product & the customer is an afterthought. The only reason I can see to buy a season pass here is it's location (convenient to Portland). Certainly not about a quality product any longer. Was at the area yesterday 12/31 & there were ZERO lift lines & few skiers considering it was Vacation Week. I am very nervous that this area is in its last days as ownership continues not to value Marketing (Product, Price, Promotion etc) nor value its employees as they continue to cut back in every way possible to maximize their profit. Their lack of belief of creating lasting customer relationships & zero value in Marketing the mountain continues to erode their customer base as skiers opt for better options. Skier visits appear to continue to plunge. They clearly need a marketing master & resources to rejuvenate the areas local & wider perception amongst the skiing community. The change in our climate associated with these backwards business philosophies (from the 1970's) will most likely do them in sooner than later. The customer is not stupid & continues to search out & give other areas there hard earned dollars. That is what we have done & are imploring others to do the same intill they make some serious changes. Sad but true! read more

I grew up going to Shawnee Peak with my family and have never stopped. This place has terrain for all all ages. The east side is definitely a hidden gem and under utilized. If night skiing is your thing, they have a pretty decent amount of trails under lights. Blizzards, the pub at the lodge is delightful. Try their bloody mary with the jumbo shrimp. read more

I had never skied before I went to Shawnee Peak. Despite having no knowledge of skiing, I was attempting to put together a group to go night skiing. I called and they got me in touch with Josh Harrington through email. He is in charge of group rates. I had so many questions and he was so nice and helpful. He answered every single one of my questions and was very patient as it was difficult to get exact details from my friends. We had set up a time to meet Josh, but we had some struggles with timing as we were coming from all over Maine and New Hampshire. The people at the ticket window and Josh were very flexible and allowed everyone to check in when they arrived. Talking with Josh was a great start to our night. Once we got on the mountain, we had all different levels of skiers, from ski-racers to me. All of us had a great time and everyone on the mountain was so friendly and helpful. All in all it was a great experience and Josh is the bomb! Thank so much Shawnee! read more

Came here for the first time over the weekend in the hopes of avoiding the holiday crowds at Sunday river. While it was far less crowded, our experience wasn't that great. The slopes were EXTREMELY icy, and while the terrain was nice for a mountain that size (gorgeous views from the summit) it was still pricy for what it was. We went in for lunch around 1, and after already waiting a half hour we were told our food would be an hour wait. When it did come out it was cold. I think it was just an off day for the mountain between uncontrollable weather conditions and some kind of kitchen malfunction. I would almost consider giving it another shot but it for the cost of I've already got season passes elsewhere read more

If you like badly marked trails with short lift lines and friendly staff, then that will make a nice day of it for you. The trails are nicely covered with artificial snow and very well packed. I purchased a Sunday only Season pass to this mountain (ahem, hill) because the price was so inexepensive and all I can say is save your money. As an avid rider who always looks forward to the winter all I can say is save your money. The lifts are too slow, the lines are too long, the lodge is too small, and the brunette in the main office upstairs is rude and obnxious. I once stood in a line for the lift which takes you to the summit as they were trying to repair it and quipped "Huh, time for an upgrade" the old skier next to me said "Yes, I know" then after two seconds he reverted to "Wait, no!" That's the mindset for the owners of this place and the locals. The place is generally overun by rude teenagers and there is no where near enough vertical. Take a 30 minute ride and go somewhere else! read more

Didn't have a great experience. Went with my 2 brothers, sister and my son. My son had just learned to ski the day before at Cranmore and loved it and wanted to go again the next day so we figured we'd try somewhere different. The first run my son's skiis fell off continuously the whole way down the mountain and for some reason was impossible to get them back on. I also discovered my ski pole was cracked so it was impossible to push off. Got to the bottom and went back to the rental shop. The guy didn't really do anything. He asked my son " how much do you really weigh?" Not sure what that was all about. I don't think a 14 year old boy would lie about his weight. Stayed on the easy slopes the rest of the time because it was so icy and slippery. I guess they can't control that though. We decided to do one more run on the bigger lift before they closed it for fireworks. The workers were at the top rushing us to go down so I did. My son's skiis fell off again midway down and luckily my brother was there to help him. His skiis would not go on! They finally got them on and they came right back off again. Would not go on! Everyone was at the bottom waiting for the fireworks and they were stuck on the mountain. I felt so bad! Finally a worker came down to help and took him a while to get them on too. He said the bindings were too big. They finally made it down but overall it was just a very frustrating day! Skiis falling off over and over and not going back on is just not fun. And then practically having the whole mountain waiting for you is just humiliating. Never mind spending $57 a piece. Especially when we went back to the rental shop to fix the problem. Not sure my son will want to ski again any time soon. I have never written a review for Yelp before but wanted to get this off my chest. read more
