I ordered the fish taco, Buffalo chicken, carne, and steak. My husband and I demolished them. They were so delish and full of flavor and filling. We were so hungry and enjoying them I didn't get a photo to share The Buffalo was a bit too spicy for me but the rest were amazing. Our friends got the ahi tuna nacho and said they were great. There were very large chunks of tuna and avocado. Everything was very fresh. Also, they are big on allergies. My husband is allergic to shrimp so they made sure to inform me that the Buffalo chicken taco and fish taco are fried in the same oil as shrimp. Therefore, he couldn't eat either. read more

The best thing about this place is their awesome patio. Even if you're sitting inside during the summer months, it's very airy because the doors open up all the way. It would be a great spot to hang out in a group and throw a few drinks back. The patio is shaded, and they have a wall so the road noise doesn't bother you. I found the pricing to be pretty reasonable and standard compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area. I had the fork and knife burrito which was only $10 with no protein, and it was actually really good. The salsa wasn't too spicy, and all the veg blended nicely together. The tortilla wasn't soggy because it wasn't drowning in sauce. It had the right amount. I had a classic margarita and my first impression was that it looked really small, but after drinking it I realized it's because it had so much tequila in it! I was feeling buzzed after just a few sips, and I was in no shape to drive after drinking the whole thing. I'd like to see a more balanced margarita. The service was also a bit slow, but I was seated alone so maybe that's why. The waiter was apologetic about the wait, and the food did come out very quickly after I ordered. Brilliant salsas. Maybe the best I've ever had. They're like the fancy margaritas of salsa, bright and fun and fresh. Shame then that no one goes to a taqueria for the salsa. The problem here is that they not only make the typical mistakes that any 'elevated taco' place makes (too much meat AND too much other 'clever' junk muddling every bite), they compound them with poorer quality meat. This was maybe the toughest al pastor I've ever had. So I wish I could give two different ratings, a five star if you're going out for a drink and a snack (though I haven't tried the margaritas yet), and ... maybe a 2 for the tacos. UPDATE: Went back. The chips were stale, and the side order of rice was literally threatening to be less than an ounce in size. I'm not whining about a fancy restaurant giving me a small serving of wagyu carpaccio during a tasting menu ... Had a delicious brunch at the new Wild Taco in Berkeley. We are on the patio, which has a super fun and colorful decor and feels tucked away despite it being on a busy road. I tried their coffee cocktail with horchata added in (forgot to take a pic) and it was delicious! My favorite was the breakfast taco and the chicken and waffle taco - which are both available outside of their brunch menu. I also had the cjilaquiles, which had great flavor and the churro waffle which was a super sweet way to end the meal - definitely couldn't have eaten this whole dish on my own though so I'd recommend sharing! read more

Food was below mediocre. All 3 drinks were yuck. And yet another restaurant passing on a 4% charge to pay for the kitchen staff. Tipping fatigue. Tacos were loaded with meat (a plus for some I suppose) but not much else. Just a meat bomb. Server was friendly. Atmosphere was nice. read more

We had a horrible experience at Wild Taco tonight (Saturday 6/15). We placed an online order with a time of 15-20 minutes and showed up right at 20 minutes. They said they were really swamped and it would be another 15-20, so we checked back in, and...another 15-20. So we checked back in and...you guessed, another 15-20. Finally after an hour AFTER our pickup time, they encouraged us to just cancel the order so we did and went home. Why would you ever order online from here when they clearly prioritize every order except yours? And when this happens, there's no remedy except just canceling the order and going home to cook? I ordered the quesabirria plate, shrimp esquites taco, bulgogi taco, and a side of 2 salsas. I have celiac disease so have to have gluten free taken seriously; on DoorDash this restaurant allows you to mark "gluten free", "celiac", and "cross contamination not ok", which I did. They called me to confirm the modifications they would need to make in order to keep my order safe, including even frying me a special batch of chips. It's so great to order from a place that really cares about and takes food sensitivities seriously. On top of that, the food was amazing! I have a new favorite taco spot. read more

I have been to happy hour about a half dozen times and the food and drink has always been excellent. The staff is always friendly and attentive and very welcoming and warm. I need to get in here and enjoy an entrée because the menu looks amazing. Dropped in to check out the new place. Same owners, new concept. I was a fan of Barbed Wire Reef, so visiting was bittersweet. We tried out an assortment of tacos. The BULGOGI--KOREAN BBQ taco (ground beef, tamari, garlic, calabacitas, kimchi, scallions) was my favorite of the day. It had great flavors going on. The CARNITAS (braised pork, morita sauce, pickled red onion, cilantro) was quite nice. The CHICKEN & WAFFLE taco (buttermilk brine, waffle batter, crispy bacon, scallions, chile-maple butter sauce) was fun and creative. The PORK PASTOR taco (charred pineapple, cilantro, pickled red onion, pineapple-habanero salsa) was solid. The QUESABIRRIA tacos (two quesabirria tacos, with consume and lime. served with black beans and rice) came across as rather salty to me. I would probably not order this one again. I was a bid sad they no longer carry the Octopus taco I used to enjoy at BWR. Happy Hour prices look good, so that is what I will check out next time. read more

Great find! Bar service was beyond excellent. Great selection of Mezcal and Tequila. Food was spot on. The place is quiet with some TVs when most other places in the area were busy or loads more expensive. The horchata here is awesome as well!! This place is phenomenal. Starting out we got a couple margaritas and chips & salsa. The margaritas were really good but the salsas were incredible! I especially loved the pineapple habanero one - spicy and refreshing. I am pretty picky when it comes to food; being a vegetarian there really isn't a lot of places that cater to that diet and do it well. Wild Taco definitely gets it! I had a bowl with the rajas and I couldn't put my fork down! Not only were the food & drinks amazing but the restaurant itself is so cute! Tennyson Street has several restaurants that serve fish and specialty tacos but the best tacos in Berkeley are just off Tennyson at Wild Taco. The tacos are imaginative flavor combos but not to the point of being weird or having flavor clashes. The Fish and the Shrimp Po' Boy were standouts for me because of the crispiness, but every one of them was delicious and had a generous portion of protein. The salsa's they have available are also excellent and unique. We ordered takeout and in a lovely handwritten script they labeled what each taco was inside the container. Takeout boxes were recyclable. Details matter! I highly recommend that if you're in the mood for tacos, and have a love of great flavor combos, give this place a shot. read more

Food was hit or miss, service slow and harried but not unfriendly. Buffalo chicken taco was good, beef bulgogi taco lacked a sauce and was dry. Waffle sundae took forever so was very disappointed that it did not appear freshly made. Waffle and churros tasted like they were sitting around and reheated so were dried out a bit and lukewarm. The worst "cocktails" I've ever been served. Ordered a Paloma and a Margarita, and they were both literally undrinkable. They tasted like someone filled a glass with dry vermouth and topped it with lime Jarritos or sour mix. My friend and I drank two sips, paid, and walked out. $26 for garbage.
