Wild Salsa is located in downtown, near Sundance square. I made a reservation to come here early Friday evening, and the restaurant was mostly empty. The service was ok, but not the fastest. We decided to sit in the patio, and they had plenty of seating. The food was ok, which I had their tacos with rice and beans. There are so many good taco spots in Texas, so it was noticeably disappointing when a place doesn't measure up to standards. I also tried one of their margaritas, which was pretty good. This place was empty when we came in on a Wednesday night, we got seated promptly by the hostess and given menus but then nobody came to our table for a while. We were about to get up and leave when the hostess came and took our order. When the food came out it was delicious. We had the chicken flautas to start which were good, the green salsa that came with the chips was delicious. I had a chicken enchilada which came with black beans and cilantro rice everything tasted fresh and great. My husband had carne asada he said it was cooked perfectly, my mother in law had a chicken torta which was also full of flavor. The interior decor was very pretty with chandeliers and a few Dia de los muertos paintings. Our evening here didn't start great. We sat down and immediately got water/chips. After that, it was radio silence for 15 minutes. The restaurant did not have many customers in there are at all. I got up to go ask the bartender for service, but no one was there. I was walking back to tell the table let's leave when some wonderful lady from the kitchen came and asked if she could help. She was not the server yet she still did amazing work. She said she doesn't take orders normally but would :). She took our orders for food and drinks. She then went and made a delicious margarita, even though she's not a bartender. She got our food out quick. That being said, each dish was great. The carne asada was tremendous. Visited this restaurant based on Yelp reviews and sadly, I wasn't impressed by the food as most. Luckily, I arrived 15 minutes before wild hour ended. Complementary chips and a green salsa were offered. The salsa needed more salt . I ordered a frozen margarita, chicken tinga, guacamole and street corn. The presentation was nice but the seasonings were not present. The food was very bland and I regret not asking for salt and pepper. I did request hot sauce for some level of spice . Stephanie was our server and she was very helpful and offered recommendations. This restaurant should have 5 stars on Yelp. We had the absolute best experience our waiter Nino was fantastic and help with menu choices. I took him up on his recommendation of tacos and was not disappointed! My husband had the chicken enchiladas I had the wild tacos Our son had chicken fajitas The beans and rice were so tasty The salsa and queso were so fresh and delicious. I had an agua fresca drink so good. I met the manager Michael he was incredibly friendly! The food was fresh beautifully plated and delicious. This is an excellent Mexican restaurant with a rad interior atmosphere - cool murals, Day of the Dead dolls and a stylish modern looking bar. Their appetizers (chips and also rice) were great, and their tamales (the pork tamal) was also excellent. Also the one way you can tell that they are authentic is that they have horchata, which one of the servers had made for me so excellent service. Their unsweet iced tea is also nice. Definitely recommended if you are in Ft. Worth! It was just ok. I would only give it 2.5 stars but rounded up to give them benefit of the doubt. The air conditioning was not working well tonight and most people were fanning themselves. Yes, it was warm inside and not comfortable. The chicken tacos didn't have much seasoning on them and the chicken was dry. The street corn was not sweet and a little overcooked so the kernels were shriveled. The flavor reminded me of field corn for cattle. The black beans and cilantro rice were good. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa has nice heat to it and a decent flavor. I'm going to start with the negatives because those stood out to me more than the positives, unfortunately. We came in tonight for a birthday celebration. I made a reservation over a week ago for 14 people at 5pm on a Saturday (today). The person I spoke to took my info and said "ok, thank you" and hung up. I called back to make sure my reservation was actually reserved and she said "I have to give it to my manager and she'll call you back". Ummm...ok. Maybe say that before hanging up the first time?They called me back on Wednesday to confirm. It didn't come from the restaurant phone number but some random name so I didn't answer right away because I was at the fair with my family. After the 3rd call in a row I answered. The woman calling said "we're calling about your reservation" (didn't say where she was calling from). She said "is it for tonight". I said "no. For Saturday" as I initially said. She confirmed time and number of people and then just hung up on me. We arrived on time and they told me they didn't have a reservation for me. After some "research" on their part they found my reservation "written down but not in the system". They got us a table and sat us pretty quickly after that. When we first arrived I noticed how hot it was in there. It was 90-something outside and felt just as hot inside. We asked if their AC was not working and the hostess said it was not working and hasn't for "months". And that most people "prefer to sit outside anyways" (in Texas in the summer?? Really??). It was probably 85 degrees inside. However, I noticed when I went to the restroom, the AC was on near (and assuming, in) the kitchen and the bathrooms were also cool. So no AC for guests (except in the bathroom) but the kitchen is nice and cool. Interesting. If a restaurants AC isn't working, wouldn't you mention that to people making reservations? As a courtesy? We were also sat in direct sun so that didn't help anything. Positives: Service was great. We started with one woman as our server but half way through our meal she was gone and someone else took over. They were both great but please tell your guests that their server was changing. It was confusing. Our second server brought my daughter an adorable cake with a fun candle thing that looked like fireworks lol and that was really cute and appreciated. They have a great happy hour. We got the queso and guacamole and both were excellent. House margaritas were on happy hour too and they were good also. Weak but you shouldn't expect a house margarita on happy hour to be strong I guess. Food was not as good as I thought it would be. It was fine but nothing spectacular. A little bit of advice...train your hosts properly. Teach them how to speak to guests on the phone (and in person). Never ever make your guests sit in a hot restaurant. We paid a lot of money for this meal and it was almost ruined due to it being so hot inside. I understand that things happen but the hostess told us the AC has been out "for months". Why?? And why won't you fix it? I work in the industry and I'd absolutely never allow my staff to be this uneducated (in the industry) or my restaurant to run this way. I can't imagine this restaurant lasting long due to these specific things. There's too many other better restaurants around. Hopefully these issues get resolved. Doubtful we will be back though. read more

Not only was the food and drinks inexpensive they were amazing! We started with the half price ceviche that was delicious. Had about every taco there was to offer but the barbacoa (award winning) was the best! The cilantro rice and black beans were very good. And the chips and salsa was wild :) The service was top notch. The street corn is awesome but they won't let you pay the difference and sub your rice and beans out for it so you are stuck with their garbage sides with any entree. Love going here after working downtown through the week. Its a small atmosphere where you are not bothered by a lot of other people eating there. Im glad I stumbled across it. Would not have known it existed had I not been looking for a parking space near my employer. Maybe do a bit more advertising somehow. The staff is great. Love sitting at the bar. Bartender Donovan and a new young lady Erlyna look like a great combo. They have a great customer service presence. Seem very knowledgeable. Good teamwork.
