Chips & Salsa. Crispy beef tacos 1.49 during happy hour

Fun spot specializing in Chimichangas, Margaritas and Happy hour specials. My favorite combination is the Green Chile Chicken Chimy with a half frozen and half rocks margaritas. This a perfect meal on hot day and I really like the back patio because it gets lots of shade. Service is always excellent, friendly and fast. Great for groups, casual hang out or watching a spots game.

After turning 21 in Lubbock, I was introduced to Chimy's. The Texas Tech location was a staple of college life: a great bar with a patio, good food, good drinks, and the perfect place to catch a football game. Some of my fondest college memories happened there. Watching Tech win an away game. Meeting a British hitchhiker. Devouring their cheese fries and sipping a Silver King after finishing my Master's. Chimy's was there for me when most bars weren't. While I was in Fort Worth for work, I was asked to help find some bars in the area. I had a little trick up my sleeve. "This area is good, guys!" I said. I didn't actually know. I just knew Chimy's was there. Inside, the Pacers were lighting it up on one TV and Texas Tech was winning a softball game on another. The energy was high. The place was full of current and former Tech students, and it turns out it's also an official Texas Tech Alumni spot. I ordered a Blueberry Chilton for the nostalgia, and it tasted exactly how I remembered it. Chef's kiss. I didn't grab any food this time, but off the vibe and memory alone, I was sold on this Fort Worth version of Chimy's. It's smaller than the Lubbock location and the parking isn't free, but I was a happy guy. Home sweet home.

Fun spot, great service! Great stop in the area with a fun Lil patio with tables and water out for dogs.

Exactly what you expect. Nothing is going to stand out, but the food was just fine. Not overly flavorful. One highlight was the very friendly staff. It made our lunch enjoyable and the restaurant filled up quickly right after the noon bell rang.

Great, friendly and helpful staff. Great atmosphere too! Our 1st time there today. My better half had shrimp tacos for Taco Tuesday and I had nachos with queso and ground beef. Massive sized nachos!! I should have stopped 1/3 of the way but had to force 1/2 before I surrendered and took home. Best nachos I've ever had. She absolutely loved the shrimp tacos!! Said they were the best she ever had. I'm certain that we will be back.

Came here for a date night and was pleasantly surprised. Parking can be a little tricky but inside it's super colorful and fun. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was hands down some of the best I've had. Seasoned so well that it needed nothing added to it like salt or pepper. We would certainly come back here again.

My favorite spot to get a margarita (raspberry and mango are my favorites) and DP Shootout. Brings back so many college memories (cannot beat TTU's chimys ambiance though). As for food, everything is delicious from the burgers to the tacos and burritos. My go to are chips & queso, veggie burrito (yes... the best in town for now), hamburgers and fried fish tacos (the sauce is the best part).

Well.. happy new year! And this would be my first review of 2020.. and why why do I pick this restaurant to be my first? Well.. we have been staying home for a week now, trying to slow down after the holidays and my husband been really bugging me to try Chimy's for 6months now. So that's why we end up here tonight.. I am seriously hating myself at the moment because I wanted to start the year the right way.. in the positive notes but Urg it's sooo hard for me when a restaurant gives poor customer service. Expensive margarita I thought; it's was $11 for a Cadillac without grand mariner shot? And it wasn't strong at all, and it was pretty small for $11 to be honest in my humble opinion. I can get $14 margarita at la hacienda ranch and for sure will make me tipsy drinking 1. But in this case I drank 3 and nothing! ‍ Anyway nothing exciting to be honest.. we ordered fried fish tacos and chili verde pork chimichanga.. fish tacos came in pieces instead of one big fish; so that was very unappealing for me personally, and you couldn't taste the fish at all and I'm a huge fish tacos person so I was left unsatisfied for sure. And then they put melted cheese on the tortillas also, I don't know which are the worse at this point ‍ Chimichanga was not seasoned at all. I was expecting spicy and gooey chili verde that has a little punch but nah, not even worth mentioning. They also got our order wrong and instead of apologizing they told us that it was our fault that we didn't speak loud enough! And that we didn't repeat the order to make sure it was right? Hmmm.. I ain't the server or the order taker?? Really? At this point I'm just super annoyed already. I'm still superstitious about coming back but, I might give them one more try and see if it gives us a better experience next time!

As today is Cinco de Mayo a Margarita was in order and the house pour was lovely. We shared a bottle of California Sauvignon Blanc to accompany the Ceviche Tatemado followed by the Tacos de Barbacoa which is the Tuesday lunch special. Both the ceviche and barbacoa tacos were just so enjoyable. The striped bass and octopus ceviche here is a unique preparation that sings in the tangy lime and Serrano vinaigrette in which it is prepared. The barbacoa is so flavorful and tender; and the thin, house made flour tortilla is fried crispy on the flat top before being filled. So good.

But we always hear people talk about how great Joe T's is so we thought maybe we just an isolated bad experience 15 years ago. But this time, it was even worse. Maybe people don't speak unfavorably out of fear of being shamed for not praising this "institution"? We arrived on a Wednesday at 5:30 so fortunately our unpleasant experience was not further worsened with a wait. The patio is still very beautiful and umbrellas were positioned to provide ample shade. But the fly situation was very annoying and could probably be helped with the spinning devices on tables or fans spread throughout the patios. The beauty of the patio doesn't compensate enough to endure the flies. The service started out good with waters, chips/salsa brought instantly. But within 15 minutes the service rapidly declined as more customers were seated. It was very tedious to the point of annoying to get refills on our drinks. Literally within 2-3 minutes of ordering we asked our waitress to switch one of the fajita orders from chicken to beef. She initially said "oh I'm sorry but I JUST put the order in". We looked puzzled and said "ok then it shouldn't be a problem changing it?" She went on to explain that she would add the beef to our table and just switch the chicken order to another table next to us who ordered chicken that she had not put in yet. All of that sounded very bizarre but the food was correct when it was delivered our table. At the time the plates were brought we requested a side of sour cream but it didn't come. After 5-10 minutes we spotted our server and requested it from her. But we still never got the sour cream. As I was paying the tab my daughter noticed that we were charged for an extra chicken fajita. So even though the server got the beef fajita added right after we ordered, she didn't take the chicken off the bill. She adjusted it once we pointed out the error. The food was the biggest disappointment out of all of it. I will always give grace to sub par service or atmosphere if the food is great. I say this with the utmost sincerity, I've had more flavorful beef and chicken at Chipotle. The chicken was so dry and served in big chunks which made it even tougher to chew. I seriously could not detect a hint of any seasoning, not even salt. It was very hot but not like the traditional sizzling fajita hot, more like it had been sitting in a heating pan or under heat lamps. For way too long. The beef was a tad bit easier to chew than the chicken but just as bland. The queso that we ordered tasted like canned cheese sauce watered down with chicken or vegetable broth and a tablespoon of pico added. The portion sizes of the entrees, the tortillas, the pico, the guacamole were all very generous. It's just a shame that it doesn't taste good.

You order your food at the counter and get a buzzer to come back and pick it up. The staff is friendly enough, but you don't really interact with them much since it's all pretty much self service after you go to the counter. The drink station has cane sugar based sodas; it's a bit heavy on the foam, but otherwise good. We opted for the birria pizza, a couple of cups of pozole, and a side of elote. Everything was solid. The elote was good, not great, but the pozole really hit the spot given how cold it was outside. The birria pizza is what blew me away, though. This was easily one of the most unique, but tasty, things I've ever had. It's not really a pizza, more like a topped quesadilla, but they did a great job of it. I'd not only come back here next time I'm in Fort Worth, I'd be interested in opening a location in Houston if I had the money to franchise it.
