I was stuck in traffic yesterday on my way to a meeting, but I had time to spare so I decided to have an early dinner - find something- sushi specifically & this place place came up as the closest location. At first, I thought they were closed but when I went inside, I realized it was maybe not yet a busy time. Customer service was good. I ordered hot tea and it was served just as it's pictured, and the tea was lukewarm. I actually heard her microwaving the tea, which is rare for a restaurant like this. I am accustomed to getting my tea a teapot - that was disappointing. I did not drink it. The soup was delicious as was the sushi was delicious. There's no ambience to speak of. It is a little bit dreary. It's worth noting that no one asked if I wanted dessert and so I didn't have any. I paid my bill and I left. It was all just ok.

This place is perfectly located off the Merritt Parkway in Norwalk and holds plenty of parking for those driving there. I've been a few times over the years and have never been disappointed. They used to offer unlimited sushi pre-covid, which is definitely a perk I miss. I recently had the chance to go for dinner and tried their Spicy Girl roll and Six Flags roll (description below) and it was delicious. The service was great and the waiter was very attentive and polite. Everything is reasonably priced and it's a quiet relaxing dining experience. If you love sushi, definitely check this place out. Spicy Girl Roll Crunch spicy tuna inside, topped w. spicy salmon, spicy mayo & wasabi Mayo and Six Flags Roll Deep fried spicy kani & avocado, topped with spicy tuna, spicy salmon, special sauce

In town for work and seen this was close to the hotel so decided to give it a try. Will definitely be back! Fast service and great prices, sushi rolls and drunken noodles were great!

Assorted sushi & California Roll

Found Wild Rice while browsing on Yelp and decided to check it out while staying nearby in Norwalk for the work week. Visited the restaurant on a Thursday evening and I was the only person dining in; although it appeared they had a decent amount of takeout orders. I was seated immediately and a gentleman came and quickly took my order. I got 8 piece assorted sushi and a California roll. I was served miso soup and a salad and soon thereafter, my food came out. The sushi was fresh and yummy; the California roll was subpar as they don't use the mayo based imitation crab meat. I finished my meal quickly and was on my way. The sushi was tasty and fresh but knocked 2 stars off because the environment and service was stale and mediocre. A part from the good sushi, there was no dining experience.

It was New Year's Eve, we were hungry, and most places that we checked on the way to our destination were closed. Luckily, Wild Rice was open. I did not have high expectations, since it was just a convenient option for us on the way. I had the crazy roll and the spicy salmon roll and my boyfriend had the Mandarin beef. (They had a 10% or 15% off deal going on if you ordered online.) I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of fish! The salmon, tuna, and yellowtail in both rolls tasted fresh and I enjoyed both rolls. My boyfriend said the Mandarin beef wasn't good because it was too dry. The fortune cookie that I opened after my meal had this message: "Any rough times are behind you." It was nice to read that on New Year's Eve!

The service was good. Very attentive friendly staff. Every so often checking up on my party. The sushi itself was great. Fresh. Decently portioned. Every roll had its on distinct flavor. At the entrance they have a little table with succulents and planters for $5, plants are kinda cute and I'm a sucker for plants. Bought one for the cute pot. Cons No kids menu. Scorpion bowl could have been slightly better. Bon Chon across the street had a better Scorpion. Overall. I would come back knowing what not to order again(Scorpion Bowl)and what I actually liked a lot.

What a lovely lunch experience! I am still in awe that I had soup and 2 sushi rolls for $10. Deal of the century! All of their lunch choices were so affordable. The sushi tasted fresh and the hibachi lunch was very flavorful! The service was great- very attentive and quick. The restaurants was clean and well kept. Highly recommend for lunch!

Sambal Delight

Went for dinner. Place was very quiet with very few clients. None of the cooks nor the waitresses spoke very good English. Despite this, the food was surprisingly good. I ordered the sambal delight. The brown rice tasted very healthy and the sambal delight was flavorful. The meal did not feel excessively greasy or heavy. Overall a good experience.

Finally got the chance to check out their izakaya and absolutely loved the space! It's open and…read morewelcoming. Their ordering system is QR code based which I'm not really a fan of but the food did come out fast! The show stoppers were the crab Rangoon croquettes, Karaage onigiri and the yuzu bar. I only tried one cocktail which was the whassup and personally I did not love it. The burnt honey called to me but the wasabi tonic was extremely overpowering. I also felt the chimichurri on the pork belly yakimono was overpowering as well, but a lot of their other items are fantastic and maybe it was an off day for those items! I'd definitely return as there's so many things to try still!! I'm still thinking about the yuzu bar!

I'm no foodie but I am Chinese/Japanese and can appreciate finer things in life when I see it. This place meet and exceeded my expectations. The wonderful speak-easy tamaki-ya room in the back is warmly lit and held at a nice volume, much quieter than the izakaya bar in the front. For small bites we had the Beet n Hijiki salad (highly recommend!), Agedashi tofu, and Torched Maine uni. For hand-rolls I had the Spanish Mackerel, Hokkaido Scallops, Ocean Trout, BBQ Eal & Foie Gras, and Cucumber ume. My wife had the Maine Uni, Hamachi, and Botan Ebi. Everything was good, but there were quite a few that were very good, and there were two that, for me, were the best that I've ever had in recent memory. For the Spanish Mackerel Chef Taibe put an interesting spin on it by topping it off with a traditional Chinese ginger and scallion garnish used in a tender chicken dish. It works, it balances out the briny taste of Spanish Mackerel... which is great... unless you LOVE the briny, savory, mineral, metallic, umami taste of fresh Spanish Mackerel :) The Hokkaido Scallops was, by quite a large margin, the best scallop dish I've ever had. The tender sweetness of the fresh scallop combined with a brown butter kewpie (how American!) and yuzu tobiko sauce swimmingly. Texture, temperature, taste, all perfect. I like eel and I love Unaju. But by far the biggest surprise was the BBQ Eal & Foie Gras (see pic). This dish alone warrants a culinary course. On the face of it, bbq, eel, foie gras all sets you up for something rich, filling, heavy. But when I bit into the unassuming hand roll, it was the lightest bite of Japanese rice/seafood/seaweed/liver/sauce combo I've ever had. Turns out Chef Taibe prepared the sauce from scratch using five+ different spices, and prepared the foie gras au torchon. I could go on, but suffice to say, this was one of the best bites I've ever had. By contrast, I thought I was going to close out with the cucumber ume roll, but compared to the eel and foie gras, the ume actually felt more overpowering. Perhaps if they cut back on the generous amount of ume paste... (Worthy mention: Chef Taibe presents the nori in a separate envelope. This seemingly simple step is crucial to the taste and mouthfeel of the hand roll. It provides a wonderful fresh crisp crunch to every bite and it does indeed make a difference. He mentioned he sources a special nori but I forgot the details, just know that it's really good) My wife loves uni, and I'll let her describe her experience (which she won't) but it was so good she had to order a second one. As if you need more convincing, we had a great experience and I think you will too. Bravo Chef, well done

Ive been there for dinner time as well, it's lively, loud in a good way, and immediately feels like somewhere you could stay for hours. I ordered the miso ramen, and it was honestly one of the most satisfying bowls of ramen I've had in Connecticut. The broth was the star of the dish its deep, rich, savory, and layered with that perfect balance of umami and subtle sweetness from the miso and a bit nitty form the sesame seeds. The noodles had the perfect texture: chewy, springy, and able to hold onto the broth beautifully. Nothing was overcooked or mushy . What impressed me most was how balanced the ramen was. Some ramen spots go overboard with salt or spice, but this bowl felt refined. Rich but not greasy. Flavorful but not overpowering. You could tell there was actual technique behind it. The portion size was also generous enough to leave completely full without feeling uncomfortable afterward. The service matched the food perfectly and so freaking sweet. I have trying to rec this all my coworkers

Only drawback is everything is takeout, so it's a pretty wasteful experience with all the paper plates (the stairs leading up are probably too narrow for carrying dishes). The food was just so-so. Def one of those sceney places where prices are high and people dress up more to dine. The best dish was the soothing yuzu salmon over rice entree, while the chicken wings, crab fried rice, snd tofu pockets were all a little junky and overly dressed. Wouldn't come back but so loved that rooftop.

Not a chain restaurant and not very big. As it turns out, it was a perfect combination for an UH-MAZ-ING meal! Literally, upon entering the front door, a curtain pulls to the side as we entered the restaurant. A nice little touch like you're entering a whole new world. It's a quaint little spot, maybe 20 or so tables total and some bar seating available. We had a small group of 7 and fit right along the far wall. Asked for some special favors from the hostess and she was more than accommodating. Our server, Julia was phenomenal. She gave us some time to socialize, choose our meals and looked after us as if we were her only table (while taking care of a couple other tables at the same time). Very personable and helpful along the way, not just someone who took our orders only never to be seen again. She had some great suggestions and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was spectacular! I initially ordered a few appetizers for the table. She suggested a Makimono dish which was a selection of the same items I requested and a few more! Perfect for sharing! We enjoyed a variety of entree selections from their menu including poke bowls, sushi and grilled meats and fish. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The desserts were a perfect casual finish to our meal! Can't say enough good things about our experience at OKO Kitchen. The service and food were spot on! Keep on Yelp'n!
