I was craving hand pulled noodles and I heard this spot was popular for it so why not try it out. I ordered the M3 beef combo Malatang (Medium) spicy, they also gave me a free side dish on the house which was really nice of them. The hand pulled noodles were soo stretchy and chewy. The dish itself was very well balanced along with the spice. The side dish that they gave me was cool and refreshing. It complimented the noodle dish really well. Definitely recommend checking this spot out if you're into hand pulled noodles. Try it out if you like. :)
Been here several times! It will not disappoint!!! The pulled noodles and dumplings are my go to! The chile oil is sooooo good and they sell it in a jar to take home! We came for lunch and dined inside. It's a small little space that feels very cozy and we got the tiger salad with the pork dumplings and the lamb slider. It came with one, but these sliders are huge and well worth it. Located right off of Park Street where you can walk off your food in the neighborhood by visiting nearby shops. There is no parking lot but street parking in the neighborhood is available. The restaurant I believe is family owned and very friendly and helpful!
I was craving some spicy dumplings and decided to give Wild Ginger a shot. The place is small, but I went on a not so busy random weekday for lunch so there were tables available to sit at. I ordered the Lamb Burger and the Pork Dumplings in Spicy sauce and to my pleasant surprise - also received a most delicious complimentary cold noodle dish. The dumplings were good. I am biased in my review because the flavor wasn't exactly what I was craving for, but overall the dumpling was decent. Not as spicy as it sounds at all. The lamb burger was a bit too dry for my taste. I added the sauce from the pork dumplings to the burger to try to give it a bit more moisture. It was just eh. On the contrary, the complimentary noodles were extremely well done. It had a pickled taste to it and was absolutely perfect to have on hot day. It cooled me down and I felt like my electrolytes were getting a recharged.
Came here after an outing in Alameda since I was craving noodles. I found this small local restaurant that sold malatang and biang biang noodles. The noodles were made well however I wish it had more taste. It was bit bland in my opinion, I also got the cumin lamb but felt like there wasnt much lamb in it. It was a pretty average spot. I probably would not be back since there are other places that does have the similiar type of noodles with more flavor. Service was good though very attentive and quick.
Visited this spot after a hike, and it was just what we needed! Refreshing appetizers and carbs. We shared the Spicy Cucumber Salad and the Spicy & Sour Pork Dumplings in Sauce as starters. The cucumbers were my favorite--refreshing and nicely pickled (sweet and tangy). The sauce in the cucumber salad had a lot of chili oil and peppers though, so warning to those with sensitive tummies. The dumplings were good, but the Cucumber Salad stood out more. For the main dish, I had the Spicy & Tingly Beef Soup. The beef was very flavorful, and the noodles were thick. However, the broth was a bit on the lighter side, balances out the beef. It would have been nice to have extra condiments available to adjust the flavor to taste. This is a good spot for your spicy cravings. Parking is a bit packed but not impossible- you might need to park a bit further and walk over to the area.
Small little shop located on Park St. Inside, there's a few tables so there might be a wait if it's busy. Service is very fast and food came out quickly. We ordered the pork dumplings and it was delicious! Loved the sauce it came in and the dumpling were good size. We also got the spicy tingly beef in sauce noodles and they were delicious. Noodles were bouncy and had a good bite to them. The beef was tender and good. The sauce itself was spicy and tingly but not too crazy in my opinion. Perfect level of heat and tingly. Overall, the menu is great and love that you can get soup or sauce. The dumplings are solid as well. Service was good and fast. Will be back!
We were in the area looking for a lunch spot and stumbled upon Wild Ginger. I love biang biang noodles, and theirs looked really good, so I decided to give them a try. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. The noodles were too doughy and slightly soggy, and they did not have the chewy bounce and texture I was hoping for. The sauce was just okay as well and did not stand out much. The ambience was pretty standard, but the staff were friendly and even gave us a complimentary appetizer, which was appreciated. Overall, it was okay but I'm not sure I'd revisit.
Finally had the opportunity to try Wild Ginger while in Alameda and it did not disappoint. I've heard so many great things about this spot from reviews to word-of-mouth. Also, Park St. in Alameda is just so charming..a win/win all around. Yes the reviews are correct ~ you can hear the slaps in the kitchen of hand-pulled noodles being prepared fresh. On the menu you can find cold noodle dishes, and hand-pulled noodles used for dishes in sauce with protein or in a warm soup with protein/veggies. There are also ramen noodle dishes, dumpling dishes in sauce or soup, and delicious street food like the pork or lamb burgers. Service is quick, pricing is extremely fair, and this is the type of heart happy spot supporting small business/super cool hole-in-the-wall IYKYK moment. The stewed pork burger (similar to a meat pocket) was so flavorful and juicy, with a crunch of veggie, I could have ordered a few more if it wasn't a quick pit-stop for lunch. Delicious. Our party ordered a cold noodle dish and warm soup, both so different, but comforting and enjoyed. Also, the pork dumplings in the spicy & sour sauce are super yummy. I noticed they also sell homemade spicy sauce for purchase. Looking forward to returning next time I'm craving the noods. Metered parking can be found along Park Street and the corresponding side streets.
This no-frills East Bay noodle spot delivered on their basics. Their pulled noodles had great texture with the right amount of bounce - not gummy like you sometimes get elsewhere - though the sauce could have used more depth of flavor. The wontons were well-executed with good filling and sauce. I was impressed with the cold liangpi noodles which hit the spot on a hot day. The texture of the liangpi was on point and it had the right amount of acidity. Service was attentive and kept our water glasses full. Worth coming back for another visit!
We came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was moderately busy. Parking can be tough since it is all street parking but it didn't take us more than 10-15 min. It is a pretty small place but orders come out relatively quick. We ordered the dan dan noodles and the spicy mixed veggie hand pulled biang biang noodles. If you don't do spice well, the hand pulled noodle dishes may not be for you, but since I shared this bowl with my partner who does spice better than me, it wasn't as bad. These noodles were thickkk and it complemented the dish well since it was a spicy chili sauce. They also put wood ear mushrooms, some lettuce, and lotus root. The dan dan noodles weren't as spicy and were actually quite plain compared to the hand pulled noodle bowl. Overall, cool spot to get some noodles - whether you like em thick, thin, spicy, or more on the plain side!
This place is great, I seen a social media influencer post about it and thought id give it a try. The noodles are the perfect amount of chewy and thick ;3. I really loved the freshness of the cucumber salad also. It was like a sweet sauce on top i probably could have ate 4 orders of it. The service was quick and the employees are also very nice. The place is a little small inside but a perfect size. I ate there on a weekday midday, and it wasn't that busy so that was a plus. I was very satisfied and the portions are enough to share with another person if you aren't super hungry. I think about this place every day since i've been. We came right when they opened and were greeted with the most kind and welcoming smiles from the owners themselves. They were working the place together when we came in and were so sweet! I heard about this place from a foodie tik toker I follow. It was my first time having hand pulled noodles and I was definitely not disappointed! I couldn't have been happier with my experience! Got the spicy tingling beef noodle soup and split it. Perfect portion to share if you aren't too hungry. The soup was piping hot, clean and flavorful both, nice tender pieces of beef, and deliciously chewy noodles. Yum! Service was attentive and our server came to fill our water often. More like a 3.5? Noodles were really good! You can hear the biang biang from the kitchen. It had a really nice chew. The Liang pi was refreshing. It was a little more vinegary than I'd like but still good. The owners were nice enough to give us free cucumber salad. This one was on the sweeter side. The beef noodle soup was ok. The broth was pretty light and could have used more depth/spices. Same with the lamb in sauce. The sauce wasn't very thick and was also lacking in some more depth/spices. The highlight was definitely the noodles. I think if they work on balancing the flavors it will be even better. read more
Great small restaurant that a coworker recommended me. I really enjoyed everything they had to offer. The hospitality of the staff is great. They are very attentive and giving. I assume she was the owner, we were given a free cucumber salad in their signature chili oil sauce that they make and sell separately. The hand pulled noodles were great! Wild Ginger is a small restaurant I would advise to come early if you want seats. The staff is really sweet and gave great recommendations for our first time. We got the Pork Zha Jiang noodles, Pork dumplings, and Spicy cucumber salad. The noodles were very fresh, but would've loved to get more sauce on them. I should've asked for more sauce so that was on me. My favorite dish out of all of them would have to be the pork dumplings they were absolutely perfect! I would skip out on the spicy cucumber salad next time they were just okay to me. Definitely will come back and try more dishes. read more

Casual family-run joint with great food! You can hear the fresh handmade Biang Biang noodles banging on the table and expect your food to come out soon after. Our server Tammy provided great service and was super helpful. Spicy Cucumber Salad was refreshing with a hint of sesame and complimented the Biang Biang noodles really well! The noodles were a super enjoyable level of spicy and the perfect chewiness. We got a sample of the cold noodles Liang Pi and they were super tasty -- refreshing with a strong sesame peanut taste! We got take out and here is how it scored. Pork Noodles 4/5: the dish was pretty good and the pork really paired well with the cucumbers. Lamb Dumplings in Sauce 4/5: this dish was very good. Cold Vegan Noodles 3.5/5: a good dish but not great Cumin Lamb Noodles 2.5: not much lamb and not much cumin. :-( Their biang biang are thicker and chewier than other Xian joints. A little hard to get a serving out of the bowl. I think it would be better dine in. read more

Came on Saturday around 6pm, and since there isn't a large seating area inside, we took the last table. Even though it's small, their menu and customer service made up for a great dinner experience for us. My husband absolutely loves beef noodle soup from places such as One Piece Lamien and Highland Noodles. He wanted to try the one here as well but was worried it would be too spicy. Fortunately, the server let us know we could have it made non-spicy! It was a relief and I was happy with that option as some places have the dish at an unadjustable spice level. I got the dry ja jiang noodle. We considered getting lamb dumplings as well but we'll get that next time. The food came out within 5 minutes. Before it came out, since we were sitting right next to the kitchen, we saw the chef handling the noodles, pulling and slapping it against the table, and that was pretty cool. The jajiang noodles are pretty good. I asked for it to be mild and it was mild enough that my husband enjoyed it as well. As for the beef noodle soup, the broth is not super flavorful but not bad. Our only complaint with it is that it only had about 3 pieces of meat inside. Coming from the South Bay, we were not disappointed with the food and experience here at Wild Ginger. Came here near closing after pickleball for dinner refuel and this place hit the spot :) FOOD: they are know for the biang biang/hand pulled noodles and mala dishes (numbing spice). Most of the noodles dishes come with the same type of noodles but served in different sauces or soup. - cold cucumber: this was on the house and was your classic cold cucumber salad. thank you! - Pork Dumplings: these are solid dumplings with a good crunch and nice sauce to pair with it. Pretty standard dumpling dish - Cold Noodles: this was more of an appetizer in my opinion because it's on the smaller side and came with tofu and sliced cucumbers and cilantro. I really enjoyed this dish and would be great on a hot day - Lamb Cumin Sauce noodles: a little soupy but mostly saucey. My BF and out friend really enjoyed this dish as it was flavorful and loved the texture of the noodles and the cabbages it came with - Jiang Ja Pork Noodles: this was my favorite dish. Loved pork sauce and bits of ground pork + cucumbers. SERVICE: This is run by a mom and pop (and their daughter). very friendly family AMBIANCE: This restaurant is very small. Mostly with tables seating around 2-6, although when we arrived there was a party that occupied half the restaurant. Overall, would definitely return if I'm craving biang biang noodles! read more

The food was truly delicious! Order: H1. Spicy Cumin Lamb in Sauce, D2. Lamb Dumplings in Sauce, and S1. Spicy Cucumber Salad. Everything was fresh and amazing. By far the best dumplings and noodles I've tried. The spicy cucumber salad is spicy so ensure your spice tolerance is high. The cumin lamb in sauce is medium spice and the lamb dumplings as well. The sauces on both terrific! Overall the food was PHENOMENAL. I love the freshness and taste of everything. I love that they had beef and lamb options not too many vegetarian options but do have a few options. The service was great. Servers were attentive and helpful when asked about the menu. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and recommended best items. Ambiance this place is small with limited tables. Definitely get there right when they open so you can have a table. The place did not have AC so it was extremely hot and the spice made it even hotter. That's about the only bad thing I have to say about the restaurant. Everything else was amazing. Overall great food and service Liang Pi - cold skin, basically cold noodles with a spicy savory sauce and veggies. When I can hear the sound of the noodles being slapped against the tabletop, "biang biang", I have a feeling it's gonna be a good meal. Traditional to Xi'an, China, biang biang noodles are thick and long, pulled and stretched by hand. I truly did not expect to find a place in the Bay with this on its menu, let alone paying homage to the noodles' origins. I fully intended to order one bowl of noodles to share but of course, we ended up with: Spicy Cumin Lamb in Sauce (biang biang noodles) Pork Dumplings in Sauce Stewed Pork Slider (rou jia mo) I'm not normally a thick noodle girl, but these were delicious. Great chew and a bowl full of flavor. Dumplings were great; LOVE the sauce. The slider was juicy, as it should be. (It's weird to call it a slider lol the literal translation of "rou jia mo" is "meat within bread"). Service was quick and there are a decent number of tables inside with a few outside. Restroom is through the back, behind the kitchen. Would definitely recommend! read more

I've heard high recommendations from friends to try this spot & I was not disappointed! My friends and I arrived right before the dinner rush, which we were then quickly seated in the cozy space and served water and menus. Everything on the menu looks good but the noodles are a must try. After we ordered, they were even kind enough to offer some spicy cucumbers on the house! I ordered the spicy hot oil seared (H3) and it was delicious! The hand pulled noodles are fresh, chewy, and bouncy whilst the hot chili oil with the greens balanced everything out & provided a slightly numbing spice that was addicting. We also shared the pork dumplings in sauce and the sauce was so good I could've drank it! The portions sizes are fairly generous & filling, so I will be able to enjoy my leftovers for lunch the next day as well! The meal was a great, comforting dinner for a chilly 60° evening. Will definitely be back again to try more things on the menu. read more

3.5/5 rating I was craving for hand pulled noodles with some type of sauce and decided to come to Wild Ginger. It's been a few years since I visited but I've also recently heard from others about their positive experience at Wild Ginger. My husband and I ordered 2 dishes, the fish malatang for him and spicy cumin lamb in sauce for me. It was about $50 for the 2 of us after tip but unfortunately neither of us felt satisfied after. the portion of the noodles are generous but the flavors could be more enhanced. My spicy cumin lamb was slightly bland and for $19, I barely got any lamb strips in the bowl. The fish malatang was more worth the price with the amount of fish and vegetables provided. read more
The place has been on my to-try list for a while, but somehow we just haven't had a chance to dine here. But with Tuesday movie night plans with friends at Alameda Theater, we agreed to have dinner here beforehand. It's a small restaurant with about six or seven tables with one outside. Arriving at 5:30, we had our choice of tables. They specialize in dishes from Western regions of China and hand-ripped noodles. Menu includes dumplings, noodles, ramen, malatang, sliders, street foods and salads. Many of the dishes were listed as spicy. Our waitress answered our questions about the dishes we selected and its spicy level. But we all wanted to try the Biang Biang hand-ripped noodles. Pork Zha Jiang Biang Biang Noodles - the wide ribbons of thick chewy noodles were topped with a savory minced pork sauce, sliced cucumbers, bean sprouts, sesame and mild spice. First time trying these noodles. Compared to other noodles, probably not my favorite. Tasty savory pork sauce, but I probably prefer the sweetness of Korean jjajang sauce. Stewed Pork in Sauce Biang Biang Noodles - stewed pork with cabbage, mixed with cabbage, Sichuan pepper, soy sauce and black vinegar. Tried this and it was good with a vinegary taste. Spicy Cumin Lamb in Sauce Noodles - sautéed lamb and cabbage with cumin tossed with the noodles. Friend said she wished the sauce had stronger flavor. Happy to finally try the hand-ripped noodles here. Friend said the Biang Biang noodles were comparable to the shops in Queens. Wild Ginger makes a good option for Park St dining for Western Chinese cuisine. read more

The hand pulled noodles were great! The 'Spicy and Tingly Beef hand-pulled noodles' (H5) I ordered reminded me of caldo de res because of the stewed beef and cabbage, but the noodles and sauce were new and great. Thank you! read more

Our friends recommended this place during our short stay in Alameda and it was one of my favorite meals on our trip. The lamb bun was my favorite. I wish I had gotten more. The dumplings and chili oil noodles were good and I loved the Szechuan spice. read more
If you're in downtown Alameda area, Wild Ginger sits along a busy street with boutiques, coffee shops, and other restaurants. It's a great place to stop in for a plate or bowl of spicy, hand-pulled noodles. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, depending on your preference. FOOD: We started with a plate of cold, spicy noodles, on the house! These noodles weren't their typical hand pulled ones, but the dish was tasty and a nice snack while we waited for our main dishes. For our mains, we ordered Spicy Cumin Lamb in Sauce, Spicy Tingly Beef in Soup, Spicy Curry Beef in Soup, and Lamb Dumplings in Sauce. The hand pulled noodles had a nice texture where they had some chew, but easy to break apart. Also, my noodles were the perfect amount of spiciness (they can adjust as you wish) and was quite flavorful. The dumplings were also a fan favorite in our group as it wasn't too spicy and the dumpling skin wasn't too thick. Lastly, Wild Ginger provides a very generous portion of food, which will undoubtedly leave you extremely full afterwards. SERVICE: It was kind of them to give us a free plate of cold noodles for no particular reason! Food also all came out at the same time and fairly quickly. Overall, a good experience. read more
I really wanted soupy thick homemade noodles and really didn't feel like driving down to Fremont to my favorite place, so I figured I'd finally give Wild Ginger a try. I ordered the lamb burger / bun and the beef soup malatang. The soup looked more oily than it did spicy to me, and the taste was much the same. The noodles were thick and the beef was good, but oddly, I liked the chunks of potatoes more. Overall, I just wish the soup had more spice and less oil. The big let down though, was the lamb burger. First, I should have read the previous reviews more carefully, as I expected a bun of some sort, not a tasteless English muffin. Second, I had onions, and by the time I plucked all of them out, there was barely any lamb. My other issue was while sitting inside, not only did I get to hear constant exceptionally loud chopping from the kitchen, but then one of the girls working there went to catch a spider or a bug that was on the window, and then proceeded to walk back towards the cash register / kitchen with it (right next to where I was sitting) and proceeded to stand there as if she couldn't think of what to do with the bug (hint: take it outside!) read more
A small, neighborhood noodle spot. Starting off: the space is quite small, but not busy when we went. The server was attentive and friendly. One critique I will give this place is the spice- if you're like me with a low spice tolerance get NO Spice. I got the mild and I was sweating lol. The noodles, beef, and broth were spectacular. I'm not from the area and went here on a date with my partner who is. He's very familiar with the food which is why he took me here & I agree with him it was incredibly tasty! I also have seen reviews on TikTok that show how good it is. Got sat immediately when we arrived & didn't take long to order. The food arrived fairly quick & it was hot & fresh still. Dumplings were so yummy with the sauce as well. The hand pulled noodles were delicious as it was my first time trying it as well. Clean environment and welcoming, I would come back anytime! read more

The interior is pretty small with limited seating so be prepared to wait about 15 minutes for a table if it's busy. H4 Stewed Pork in Sauce * Noodles are wide and thick, good texture but they were lacking a bit in flavor. However, the pork was great, tender and flavorful, just wish there was a better meat/vegetable to noodle ratio. read more
