I don't like the cardboard scratch pads that have taken over because I feel the longevity might not be good and the mess it could make on the floor. The store it self had an empty parking lot for a Sunday afternoon which I thought was strange but I went in to find a mostly empty store where the employees out numbered the customers. The store is nothing like the West Allis location because it's small with noticeable less live pets and a smaller foort print but I found what I needed. The food brand selection for my brand yield only two options in the big bag and not what I wanted but something I wanted try so I'm not complaining yet but if I did want the what I'm using it's not here. I can't find a rope scratch pad and only the cardboard versions and one with carpet, I went with the carpet version. I felt that the food selection was smaller than than the other two big chains with one just down the road so I probably will not back because of the limited selection, I want the 15 pound bag of food because I'm keeping my buddy and I don't want to buy small bags and make several more trips than I need to.

Have been coming to this establishment since it was in its previous location. Was on a job…read moreassignment in the area and went to check out the store. Long story (and assignment), but left town with a hand fed baby African Grey parrot! Had been a big dream; never thought it would happen. Going on twenty years later, he is still doing well. He has led quite the unexpected life. He travels all over the country (and loves it.) He has adapted well to everything. Usually with good cheer and a sense of adventure. I am convinced that is due to how well socialized he was when he was little -- and hand-raised by Jo. This is such a unique place. A store, yes, but more a baby parrot haven. They are raised like children. And it shows. You would like to purchase a parrot? Not so fast. You will be kindly, unobtrusively, but thoroughly checked out. Do you know what you are doing? Getting in to? Understand the attention and resource investments? For your lifetime (likely)? Does the parrot like you? (Really, the parrot will decide.) They might refuse to let you leave with one of their babies. Understand this transaction is taken that seriously -- before you go here. Otherwise, the store itself has everything imaginable parrot related. Questions will receive knowledgeable answers. I even got my veterinary referral from Jo. It is really hard to find a good avian vet. (We're still going there. Even if we have to drive hours to get there. Worth it.) The store has everything you could need for a parrot. Cages in every size and shape. So many toys -- screened for safety. Any healthy parrot food. There are play nets and exercise trees. And ..... there are baby birds. Jo finds responsible, local breeders who maybe have one or two breeding pairs of parrots. She finishes the hand feeding at the store and socializes the baby birds. I am convinced this is why Dorian has never plucked, screamed, bitten, any of the usual parrot behavior challenges. He is a cuddly, curious, adventurous soul. Jo's Exotic Birds is a serious parrot place. Just understand that the parrot's interests are respected here. Outcomes are reliably better that way.

The staff are knowledgeable and ready to help you take heavy boxes and bags of supplies out to your car. Love the new remodel! And greeted at the door by the dogs who want to play fetch is a bonus. Their seed cylinders are handy for novice birders because they're longlasting and you don't have to keep refilling your feeder all the time. I like the Nutty for Nuts cylinder because it attracts many different kinds of birds to my feeder--I get all the woodpeckers in the neighborhood. I have to buy 8 cylinders to get my birds through the winter, they go through 2 every month, December to March. I like to see all the new products on the market, the different types of feeders, birdhouses, birdbaths, even squirrel and bat houses. Many books, coffee mugs, candles, knick knacks and other items to keep you browsing for an hour. The tv is hooked up to a livestream of birdfeeders elsewhere so you can see what kinds of birds are visiting other parts of the country. Their Facebook page is a great place to share your photos of birds and talk to other people interested in birding, and find out what the trends are in your neck of the woods.

I just added bird feeders to my backyard and started out just buying some things from a big box hardware store. I did a bit more research and wanted to attract more birds so I decided to visit this lovely little shop. On both visits the lady helping me was very knowledgeable and showed me the right things to get for my space. I never felt pressured to buy anything, on the contrary, I was given the information, then left to decide on my own. Both of my purchases were a big success. After what the country has just been through ( especially small business) I have decided I will try to whenever possible, SHOP LOCAL!!! I will be doing my bird business here.

(I looked at Walmart, Farm and fleet, and even bought other feeders that were not pricey only to have the squirrels destroy the plastic, or to have the mechanisms fail within one season.). I ended up purchasing Wild Birds Unlimited squirrel proof feeder, and after a couple of weeks loved it so much I bought another. Have had them for at least 2 years with a vigorous bird population visiting and many frustrated squirrels (both perch and clinger type birds love it). I just bought a third. They are about $50, but well worth it in my opinion.

Sorry, but when we come in WEEKLY and buy the exact same items, yet get charged a different amount every single time & then when we finally ask for a receipt for once to discover you over charged us you want to claim we somehow hid the "extra item". You searched your database to find my personal phone number to call to yelling at us & refusing to even allow us to speak. The second we'd try to say anything you'd hang up like a child. Your manager needs some serious training on proper customer service & how to actually talk AND listen to people. Also, learn to properly label your animals. just like the bamboo I called you out on before, that "banana spider" you have in there does not carry the spider morph. it is just a plain, single gene banana. When we pointed it out to one of your associates last week when we were in, he told us "yeah, we know, but we think it has a "wobble" so we labeled it as spider too. That's not how that works! Stop ripping people off & then yelling at them when your called out on it. Your manager needs to put her narcissism to the side, as someone who has worked retail management for over 10 years myself, I could never imagine telling a loyal customer who shops at my establishment multiple times a month, every month, for over 5 years now to never return rather than just accept that maybe my sales associate made a mistake.
