This is one of those really cool shops located directly on Congress which gets a lot of pedestrian traffic. We've been wanting to come here for sometime, but since we don't live in the city center, it means that you'll be facing one of those parking kiosks to receive your credit card. This is a very spacious store that definitely has a great local musical flare and needless to say Willie Nelson is a key feature. The place has a great selection of T-shirts, jewelry, and even some instruments at the rear of the store, but no actual record albums. If you find yourself walking down Congress near 6th street, you should really stop in. And as the business owner points out, apparently I missed the record section. read more

This is a really cool music store on sixth Street that sells souvenirs and gifts. If you're looking for cowboy hats, they have them for about $50. Baseball cats for around $25. The customer service was good. read more

I came into this location this past Saturday with another party while waiting for an ATX food tour. This was my first time at this location (although I have been meaning to get to the location for years). As my home is big on music, (with Thing One playing three instruments; tuba, guitar and double bass, Thing Two playing two instruments; piano and violin and your trusty old OCA playing one instrument; the violin for the last 30 + plus years). I just had to stop in and at least take a look around. After looking around for about 10 minutes, I decided on purchasing a painting. I selected the one that spoke to me the most which happened to be a painting of a lively scene in a club. It took a little effort to get the painting off the wall but it was worth the wait. I am pleased with the painting and the level of service I received. However, I did ask for a military discount and was advised that paintings were not subject to the discount. I do think this will be the first and last time I buy a piece from here as more than $500.00 for this piece is excessive. #supportlocal #supportthearts read more

I'm not that into the genre of Rock (which seems to be pretty popular here), but I spotted a few artists and groups that I did know and appreciate. Though not super diverse (in my opinion), I was happy to see some Black artists like Prince, Beyonce, Cardi B, and Michael Jackson featured. More genres and more races, please! This store features a lot of current and historic music celeb memorabilia, trinkets, gifts, clothing and collectibles. They also sell cool instruments, and it's just an overall fun store to browse! This is the perfect store where tourists have to visit while in Austin. It defines what Austin is and can take home a piece of it on a shirt, trinket, or musical instrument. Unique items are everywhere here and for me mostly purchase shirts with local slogans on them to wear at home or to a music venue. In my case, I love to collect coffee mugs; it was hard to pick just one. This is THE place to go for Austin souvenirs. Music memorabilia of all kinds. The other souvenir shops along 6th street were kind of tacky, but this one was in a class by itself. I bought a couple of stunning Christmas ornaments here. They are a miniature saxophone and a miniature flute, for my kids who play those instruments (well, they play real instruments, not the ornaments!). The ornaments are made of real metal, wonderfully detailed, simply stunning, only $10 each. The perfect souvenirs of Austin. As I was walking down Sixth Street, after walking from the Capitol, I recognized this place as one of the ones that I had bookmarked. They had all kinds of musical themed souvenirs. I went with a tiny pink guitar that is now hanging from my memory board in my office. It doesn't say ATX, but I like that it's simple without that statement. My biggest and only quarrel... do you remember that the checkin offer that I mentioned? It was a free souvenir guitar pick. Well, they were out of them. grrrr. My car radio was busted at the time, and the sales clerk helped me find some portable speakers to plug my iPod into as a temporary fix for the road trip back. Everyone was super friendly, including Quincy (the HUGE store cat/mascot)! And I'm not even a cat person! Quincy's cool in my book, though. Thought I might buy a few items for others and ended up buying a ton of art for my own home and patio. TONS of cool music & austin art. And the pricing is really nice (by art standards).
