I think they take it very seriously too because just before I left, there were these three buttons to rate how clean it was in there also the woman working the register greeted me everyone that came in and greeted us on our way out. This year's customer service is giving me hope! Well done everyone! And it was so packed at 10pm but all the customers were nice too letting people pass by and being friendly. I love this for everyone.

Thankful the space was large and everyone could get to where they needed to be and there was parking lot space. When I entered I always greeted "thank you for choosing loves" and I appreciated that. It makes me feel seen among the chaos of travel. The displays were well laid out and the signage large so I was able to find the restrooms quicky. There were multiple stalls in the women's room and I appreciated that. I also like that when in use there is a either red or green indicator on the dial to tell you. So I found a stall right away and laughed when I seen the sign of travel comforts. My husband always gets after me because I like a good when on the road. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with towels and soap. After I left the phone case caught my eye and I found a suction cup phone holder for $19.00 that just has to come home with me. I attempted to purchase trident bubblegum but the individual packages of them were not available. There were some in plastic containers for sale but I was not on board. So I purchased my phone holder and called it a day. When I got back to my car I found they offered extra long handle window washer squeegees. Being only 5'6" with this long handle I was able to wash the window when only standing on one side of the car. That was cool. Overall pleasant stop to stretch my legs.

You might think you're in the back woods of Indiana, but copies of recent Scientific American and Smithsonian fill the reading rack. A collection of Midwest minerals and fossils stand in an old cabinet. Wares by a few local artisans are offered. It's not fancy, six assorted tables. The breakfast menu fills a white board. I order eggs, hash brown casserole and a biscuit. The breakfast is ready in 10 or so minutes and served on syrofoam plates. The eggs are cooked perfectly, the hash browns stick to your ribs and the biscuit with delicious apple butter is filling. You can camp out back for $15 (primitive) $30 (electric) and pan for gold or collect rocks in the creek. It's not upscale or trendy. They might look at you funny if you ask for a latte. But these are the nicest people on earth and serve up a hearty breakfast on a cold day.

With our usual under renovation, we decided to go out of our way to drop by at the Gatesville Country Store on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. before they closed at 3 p.m. They still had a number of customers and a trio of motorbikers came in afterwards. We picked from their specials which were a bean and ham stew with cornbread, bbq pork sandwich with home fries & onions, along with cherry cobbler. Picked our drinks from the cooler and sat out in the sunny porch table and enjoyed the 60+ degree weather after a 40 degree morning while Robin prepared our food. Friendly conversation with other customers and warm sun (and cold drinks) made it easy on the wait. (there are dining tables inside and under a covered porch too). Yes, the food is served on foam plates with plasticware, but the taste is home cooking with care. Crispy home fries with caramelized onions (can't resist with ketchup) and soft moist cornbread with whipped butter (not in package) that were perfect companion to the bean and ham stew. Though I prefer cherries that are more tart in cobbler/pie, the homemade crust made up for it. Snagged a brownie to take home since we couldn't resist. Altogether it was $23 and credit cards are accepted (whew!) Left wallet at home and we were scraping together cash and coins before we saw the credit card sticker on the door and added desserts to our order. A 15 minute country drive from Nashville which certainly would have been at least that long a wait finding a spot on a Sunday afternoon in Nashville.

It was $3.42 (that's credit price, the cash prices was $3.32) when everybody else and I do mean everybody, even the cheaper places, all advertised gas for $3.75. I didn't think the sign was right, but I turned around just to see if the pump matched the sign and it did. I could not understand why they were thirty cents cheaper unless it was to drive foot traffic into their new store. This place opened in December of last year so they have only been open four months. If that is their strategy, it worked on me. I went inside since I was thirsty and just to see what it was like. It is a larger than most Circle K stores. While they do not have a kitchen that takes orders like Wawa (breaking ground this spring at St. Rd. 32 & Hazel Dell Rd. in Noblesville) or Quick Trip, they do have tons of ready to eat food that takes up the whole east end of the store. This is also where there are several fountain drink stations and coffee stations. On the other end of the store is a whole section of wine in addition to the usual beer refrigerators. The entire back wall is all canned or bottled drinks of more than the usual inventory of convenience stores. There is an inside dining counter with a charging station for each seat. Each charging station has one USB and one A/C current plug-in. There is also an outdoor eating area with three tables seating four each. They have a unique self check out station. Instead of scanning the bar code of the item, you just place your items down on this pad that is larger than the largest laptop, keep them separated, and it does the rest. They also have a lottery ticket vending machine for scratch offs which helps with the line not moving slow with people who like to buy a lot of them. I bought my favorite grape Gatorade Zero. Why did it taste better than the ones I get from the grocery? Just because it was a larger size? Baffling!
