Wawa - Tropical smoothie

Wawa

The store was clean. You order at the kiosk, and you pay at the a station before leaving. I…read moreordered a Pina Colada smoothie. I have not eaten anything there yet.

It's pretty well known that Wawa only recently entered the Indiana market. What started as a New Jersey iron foundry in 1803, became a dairy processing plant in 1902, and then opened as a food market in 1964, is now a 750-strong chain of convenience stores with a strong presence in six states and a growing presence in others (including Indiana). Why is Wawa beloved? friendly employees. One-stop shopping for gas, coffee, and food. While this was really within the first 24 hours of being open, it was noticeably clean and I was pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was. Wawa offers fuel and EV charging. Wawa has a stunning amount of coffee options and I definitely tried their refreshers/rechargers. Dragon Burst is an absolute winner. Wawa has breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and the menu is surprisingly comprehensive. You can get a biscuit sandwich starting at $2.49 - lower than a ton of fast food joints (I'm looking at you, Hardee's). While gas stations/convenience stores are often known for their unhealthy foods, Wawa has quite a few healthy options. There's also a lot of baked goods - donuts, brownies, muffins, and even soft pretzels. I tried the donuts. Yum. I was pleased with accessibility features. I also noticed an accessibility statement on their website that I found pleasing. This was a first visit and it was unexpected. So, no photos. I was rushing to a conference and primarily looking for a snack and directions. I received both from friendly employees in a warm, winning, clean, and welcoming atmosphere. I don't go to Plainfield a ton, however, there's no doubt I'd stop back here when I'm in the area. While I still think the idea of a beloved gas station/convenience store is a little weird, There's an awful lot to love about Wawa.

But as I drove by on Hwy 67 today, I noticed their price sign and pulled in immediately as they were at least 15 cents cheaper than anyone else in the Mooresville area. I agree with Ken in that I like how this facility is separated from the store by the access road. It makes for easy access to and from the pumps. Additionally, there is a traffic light to exit the Meijer complex instead of a four way stop like down by Walmart which can be a bit more hazardous when traffic is heavy. The video monitor on the pumps say they have updated their card readers to accommodate cards with chips now. Pumping seemed easier than most fuel stations. And I got a paper receipt which is not always the case these days. Don't you just hate it when you press OK for a receipt and it says, "See Cashier?"

I guess since I'm the Duke of check-ins at this gas station, I should write a review. I mainly…read morecome here for the convenience since it is located across the parking lot from a nearby Meijer store. I rarely go inside to buy anything since I usually go to Meijer first to pick up what I need, and then come here for a quick fuel up. I like that it is separated from the store parking lot by a road which allows less confusion at the multiple bays for pull ins. Also, because of the location, almost everyone pulls in from the same direction with the simple choice of fueling on the left or right. I often choose the end pump to avoid other vehicles pulling up or leaving. The only negative is that the press buttons on the pump are so worn that they are less responsive than they used to be. A little maintenance would make the operation of the pump go more smoothly. Otherwise, the prices are competitive and they do carry items for both the vehicles and the passengers. Vehicles can also pay to get air in their tires (self serve). Review #2701
