Leo’s Market and Eatery - View from my seat in the dining area

    Leo’s Market and Eatery

Found this gas station/restaurant on Yelp to try for lunch while in the area. Full disclosure: I…read moredidn't realize it was a gas station until I arrived! But I was intrigued, so figured I'd check it out. Now I had no idea what Leo's offered until I went in. Think gas station/convenience store offering locally made food items, freshly prepared bowls/drinks and kolaches. Second guilty admission: never had a kolache. The nice woman behind the counter helped me choose (they were buy one, get one free)! So I chose one egg and cheese, and one spinach and cheese. They were warmed in an oven while I went to grab a coffee and use the restroom, which was very clean and well-stocked. Pro tip: if you want a latte or another specialty coffee, order at the counter. If you want to make your own, go to the coffee bar. It's less expensive, plus they have a variety of sweeteners, Torani syrups, and assorted creamers (including plant-based). The cash register employee let me know when they were ready to go, and my grand total was less than $6. I picked up a few hot sauce packets from the condiment bar and sat down in the dining area to eat. The kolache itself is essentially a small, light sandwich. The bread was soft, with a hint of sweetness. The egg and cheese combo was perfect for my light lunch! I had a bite of the spinach and cheese kolache before I left, which was even more flavorful and cheesy! Can't wait to have it tomorrow morning. The cafe also features freshly prepared smoothies, coffee drinks, salad/potato/pasta bowls as well as soups, with a rotating soup of the day. There's truly something for every taste. I was really pleased with this fun gas station mash up, and will absolutely drop in again when in the area!

I've noticed that this gas station generally has the lowest-cost gas in the area. I like coming here because the gas pump's functions work, and I've not had any issues paying at the pump. Also, the receipt prints out, so there is no need to go inside, which fewer gas pumps are doing these days. Getting gas here is seamless and reliable. This location is very convenient and is easily accessible.

I was in Greenwood and heading north to take Thompson Road to the southeast side of Indy when I…read morenoticed I was getting low on gas. So, I pulled through the intersection and into the Marathon. This station has undergone a major renovation (including digging) so the bay area for vehicles is in great condition: solid concrete that is smooth like new. The place was clean with bright blue trash cans handy. I will say that there aren't a lot of pumps here like at some of the super stations. There are just two rows of pumps that are two deep. The pumps are also new and though they have a bunch of prompts for different promotional things Marathon does, I simply ignored those and put my debit card in. Everything after that was easy to follow and I was soon filling my tank. While filling, I noticed that outside the building, there were ricks of firewood, propane gas tanks, ice, and standing by itself, an air station for filling your tires. The space between the building and the covered pumping bays was open, so no protection on rainy days if you need to go inside. My only negative about this place is that it has limited access. Both cross streets at this intersection have raised medians without cutouts, so you can only get here from heading west or north. Upon leaving, you can only head north or west, but the west will immediately take you to the stop light, so you can turn south from there. Unfortunately, I wanted to go east, so unless I tried a U-turn at the stop light, I would have to detour to some other road. I did not stop inside to check out the interior or customer service. I did notice a sign that says they carry donuts here, but I didn't check those out either. Review #3739
