I love how inviting they are and at one point I stopped to talk about work related things with one of the night shift workers. Great guy! Sometimes, despite being through the store countless times, I have trouble finding something... but I can usually get around quickly, and if the WiFi connection is strong enough the website tells me the exact aisle. lol! I bought 8, 6 packs of Coke in the Mooresville store at 9:30 PM on July 10th. When I checked out the sale closed before I found out I only got the special $4.00 each off on 5. I knew this was always the policy but I checked the shelf pricing and the coupon repeatedly to make sure I could get more. When I noticed the difference I was told at checkout that the office was closed and they could refund it. I said I was from Martinsville and they told me to go there the next day. I went there and a very rude office lady told me I was wrong and there was nothing I could do about it even after I showed her photos of the Shelf pricing never mentioning a limit. I believe this is ongoing pricing fraud I have seen in Kroger time and time again.

The produce selection is smaller than in Indy area groceries, but the produce looked fresh and prices were downright cheap. I picked up fresh corn and fresh breads from the bakery. They carry a great selection of local (Indiana) produced items such as craft beer, jams and jellies and locally roasted coffee. They have a meat counter with a good selection. They carry just about anything you need. I was in early on Saturday and the store was not crowded. Groceries are well organized and shelves neat. The check out clerk was friendly and eager to assist. Plenty of parking and easy in and out.

They even had cast iron cookware. The deli was minimal, but the fried chicken smelled great. The beer and wine sections weren't huge, but included staples and a few locals bottles and brews. The checkout wait was quick, and the staff were friendly. Yes, this isn't a supermarket, but it's a pretty well-stocked watering hole. They had everything we needed and more, and we barely skipped a beat from our camping trip.

I order eggs, hash brown casserole and a biscuit. The breakfast is ready in 10 or so minutes and served on syrofoam plates. The eggs are cooked perfectly, the hash browns stick to your ribs and the biscuit with delicious apple butter is filling. You can camp out back for $15 (primitive) $30 (electric) and pan for gold or collect rocks in the creek. It's not upscale or trendy. They might look at you funny if you ask for a latte. With our usual under renovation, we decided to go out of our way to drop by at the Gatesville Country Store on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. before they closed at 3 p.m. They still had a number of customers and a trio of motorbikers came in afterwards. We picked from their specials which were a bean and ham stew with cornbread, bbq pork sandwich with home fries & onions, along with cherry cobbler. Picked our drinks from the cooler and sat out in the sunny porch table and enjoyed the 60+ degree weather after a 40 degree morning while Robin prepared our food. Friendly conversation with other customers and warm sun (and cold drinks) made it easy on the wait. (there are dining tables inside and under a covered porch too). Yes, the food is served on foam plates with plasticware, but the taste is home cooking with care. Crispy home fries with caramelized onions (can't resist with ketchup) and soft moist cornbread with whipped butter (not in package) that were perfect companion to the bean and ham stew. Though I prefer cherries that are more tart in cobbler/pie, the homemade crust made up for it. Snagged a brownie to take home since we couldn't resist. Altogether it was $23 and credit cards are accepted (whew!) Left wallet at home and we were scraping together cash and coins before we saw the credit card sticker on the door and added desserts to our order. A 15 minute country drive from Nashville which certainly would have been at least that long a wait finding a spot on a Sunday afternoon in Nashville.

This is a great small town grocery (in the Kroger family). The store is laid out logically and small enough that finding things is easy. I come here for dry goods and usually find what I need. The pies looked delicious in the bakery today. Prices are reasonable. The produce could be fresher with a larger selection. Today, I scored 99 cent per pound zucchini and was able to find fresh sage. But cucumbers did not pass the freshness test for me. In the spring, they offer a beautiful selection of perennials and annuals....better quality than some nurseries and larger centers. The store is conveniently located off 31 just north of the Outlet mall. There is plenty of parking.
